Stray Kids Jisung (Acrophobia)

Jisung's POV

"What's all this," Jeongin asked as we walked onto our stage to get ready and practice but found a bunch of weird machinery on it.

"Hyung," Minho asked, turning to Chan.

"I'm not sure. No one's told me about anything changing what we're doing on stage," he replied with furrowed eyebrows.

"Should we be changing stuff so close to having our comeback," Changbin asked with a frown.

"I wouldn't recommend it," Chan replied. I looked over at the equipment and saw that it had these massive wires that were connect to the roof.

"The wires are connected to the roof," I pointed out.

"What do you think they're for," Felix asked as he rested his head on Chan's shoulder and wrapped his arms around his waist.

"I've seen stuff like this before. They hook someone up to the wires and they are lifted into the air or something," Chan said as he looked over the wires. If anyone was watching me, I'm sure they would've seen the way my face paled completely in fear. I'm not a big fan of heights, in fact I'm absolutely terrified of them and have been ever since I remember. I seriously hope I'm not going to have to go up there on those small wires. My heart was beating really fast and I felt slightly dizzy.

"Boys, I'm glad you're finally here," Manager-nim said as he walked up with about 10 other staff members.

"Manager-nim," Chan said as we all gave him a small bow.

"You guys really have to stop doing that, you're far to formal with me," he said shaking his head with a small chuckle. I quickly moved over to Minho and wrapped my shaky hands around his waist, resting my chin on his shoulder to try and calm down my slight anxiety that had picked up when I heard about the wires. Minho's head snapped down to meet my eyes as his scanned over my face before he frowned worriedly. He quickly moved me in front of him and gave me a back hug, engulfing my body and giving me a comforting and safe feeling. My heart slowly slowed down and I took a deep breath as my hands were still slightly shaking. He moved his arms so he could hold both of my hands in his, calming me down completely. Manager-nim noticed what we were doing but he just sent me a sympathetic smile, understanding what was going on. JYP used to complain and wanted Minho and I separated because apparently we were to touchy but Manager-nim went into a 2 hours meeting with him and convinced him not to which I'm thankful for. Minho is my rock, the person who always calms me down when my anxiety picks up and Manager-nim knows that.

"Hyung what is all this for," Seungmin asked as he gestured towards all of the equipment.

"Ah, this. This is our genius new idea," he said proudly.

"What is this idea exactly," Minho asked.

"We're going to have one of you suspended up in the air on the wires and lowered down into the middle of you guys at the very start of the performance," he said with a grin.

"Oh, is it safe though," Chan asked quickly, always worrying about the rest of us.

"Of course, other groups have done stuff like this before. It really gives you guys some more spark," he said, clapping his hands happily.

"Fair enough. Who is gonna be going up," Chan asked.

"We were thinking Jisung as he's smaller and lighter," Manager-nim said. I tensed before feeling Minho squeeze my hands gently.

"I'm not sure that's a good idea," Minho said quickly.

"Why not," Manager-nim asked.

"We don't want him to get anxious up there where no one can calm him down if he panics," Minho replied.

"He makes a good point," Changbin said as he looked over at me quickly. I was happy that they were looking after me but I don't want to constantly be seen as the weak one who always needs protection and to be looked after.

"How long would I be up there for," I asked slowly.

"You don't have to force yourself to do something if you aren't comfortable," Minho told me gently.

"I know," I replied quickly.

"You'll be up there for less than a minute before you're lowered down," Manager-nim told me.

"And how high up will I be," I asked him.

"About 5 meters," he replied. I managed to stop myself from tensing up in Minho's arms, so as to not worry him. It was scaring me but I need to do it, I mean it shouldn't be too hard anyway. I'll only be up there for about a minute and 5 meters isn't way too high. Plus I don't want to let the other's down.

"I can do that," I said quickly.

"Are you sure, no one will care if you can't," Chan said gently as he walked over and placed a hand on my shoulder.

"I can do it," I said firmly.

"Alright, you heard him. We'll do a test run today and get you hooked up and in the air to see how it goes," Manager-nim said. A couple of staff members came over to me and ushered me over to where the wires were. I just stood there and let them put me in a harness and strap me up while the other's talked to Manager-nim and some other staff about who knows what, probably things about the comeback and the stage positions.

"Alright, that's good. You're all strapped up and ready to go," one of the staff said.

"When will I be lifted up," I asked slowly.

"As soon as we pull the lever, it'll start to raise you up," he replied.

"Alright, can I have a minute or two please," I asked nervously. I need to take a minute to relax before I go up, so I can mentally prepare myself.

"Of course, take your time," one of the lady staff members said gently and they moved off to the side talking to give me some space.

"Minho Hyung," I called out, gaining his attention. He quickly walked over to be with a worried look on his face. He rushed over quickly, panic in his eyes.

"Are you ok? Do you want to get out of this," he asked quickly. See this is what I mean about them seeing me as constantly needing protection.

"I'm fine Hyung. I just wanted to talk to you before I go up because you always keep me calm and it's better to be safe than sorry," I told him. He gave me a small smile and ruffled my hair gently.

"Sure. Are you excited or really nervous," he asked me.

"A bit of both," I admitted.

"That's ok. But I need you to promise you'll tell us the minute you get anxious and want to come down again alright," he said gently. I frowned at his words and looked down slightly.

"What with the long face? Did I say something wrong," he asked quickly.

"It's fine," I said with a sigh.

"No, it's not. What's wrong? I know you and something I said upset you," he said worriedly.

"I, I'm not fragile you know. I'm not just going to start panicking over every little thing. How do you even know I'm going to get anxious and want to come down? I know you just want to look after me but sometimes it just makes me feel useless," I said sadly. He was silent for a few seconds, just blinking at me.

"I'm so-."

"That's understandable Sungie. And I'm sorry, I never realised it upset you. I don't mean you're going to get anxious, I just mean it as a precaution in case you do," he said gently as he sighed.

"I know," I whispered.

"Keep your head up Sung, you're great, you aren't useless. I promise," he said firmly.

"Thanks Hyung," I said, giving him a small smile.

"No problem. Are you ready to go up now," he asked gently. I smiled and nodded quickly, ignoring the uncomfortable feeling in my chest.

"Alright, I'll see you when you get back down," he said as the staff members walked back over.

"Are you ready, we have you all strapped up and ready to go," one of the ladies said. I nodded and gave the boys a weak smile as they watched from a distance. I'm glad it's a distance otherwise they probably would have noticed that it wasn't really an enthusiastic smile and 100% would not have let me go up. The minute I started getting lifted up into the air, I felt panic bubble up in my chest but I quickly looked over to Minho and thought over what he had said and remembered his gentle hold that always relaxes me. I was surprised by how quickly I managed to calm back down. I can do this, I can last a minute in the air without panicking, it's not that hard. I took a deep breath and plastered a smile on my face. I was still nervous, very nervous but I was managing not to panic. Once I got all the way to the top of the 5 meters, it stopped completely so I was just hanging there. Deep breath Sungie, deep breaths. Breathe in and breathe out, just like Minho Hyung and Chan Hyung always say. I lasted the whole minute without falling into a panic attack but I was slightly shaking and my heart was racing a little.

"How is that Jisung, you wanna come down yet," Manager-nim asked.

"I'm alright but I should probably come down so we can finish going over our positions on the stage," I said. Ok, so that's not why I actually wanna come down but that's fine, no one else will know.

"Ok, good job. So the reason why you'll be up there for the minute is just while we wait for everyone else to get on the stage and in their positions. I want you to try and stay very upright and have a cool look on your face as practice as going down is the bit the fans will see," Manager-nim said as he pulled the lever. I slowly begun to get lowered and I was starting to relax because it meant that I'd be back on the ground soon. So when there was a sudden jerk and I stopped after hardly even being lowered a meter. I frowned in confusion, raising an eyebrow.

"Why did you stop me," I asked. No one replied but I looked down to see Manager-nim talking to Chan and some staff members and pressing buttons on the panel. I was starting to get a little nervous, why wasn't I going down.

"Channie Hyung," I called out, making him turn to look up at me.

"Sorry Sung, something's happened with the controls so you'll have to wait a little bit before we can get you down," he told me. Wait, what?

"What do you mean it will take a bit? I want to come down now," I said, my voice wavering slightly as I became increasingly aware of how high up I was. My calmness was slipping away at an alarming rate and I could already feel myself begin to panic. This can't be happening. They said less than a minute and I'll be coming straight back down. I did the minute, I should be down by now.

"Don't worry, they'll fix it and you'll be right back down," Chan said. He sounded so unbothered, so reassured that it hurt. Did he not realise I wanted to come down? Was I not loud enough.

"Hyung I want to come down," I said quickly. He looked up at me and his eyes burrowed slightly in what looked like confusion.

"I need to come down Hyung. Minho Hyungie, bring me down. You said it was only a minute, please bring me down," I sobbed as breathing started to get harder and harder.

"Sung, Sungie calm down aegi. You'll be down really soon ok, they're just trying to fix the machine," Minho said as he came closer, panic on his face. Seeing his usually calm face showing panic, made me panic even more. I started to struggle slightly and shake my head quickly.

"I WANNA COME DOWN," I screamed as sobs ripped through my throat. I was too high up, far too high up. I continued to sob and began to work myself up into a full on panic and not being able to breathe. I began to choke, not getting enough air to cater for the sobs that wouldn't stop coming.

"JISUNG."

"Jisung you need to calm down, you need to breathe."

"Sungie, try and take a breath for Hyungs, please."

"Jisungie."

"Hyung, what's going on. I'm scared." I could hear their words, knew people were talking but I couldn't make out who and my vision was beginning to go hazy, not being able to breathe at all. They said a minute, I lasted the minute and stayed calm. They promised a minute...

Minho's POV

I was a bit apprehensive about letting Jisung go up on the wire because he does get really bad anxiety and I'm not sure how safe the machine is. He's the dongsaeng that I look after the most, the one I want to keep safe from harm.

"How is that Jisung, you wanna come down yet," Manager-nim asked him. He actually seemed to be doing quite well up there. At first he seemed nervous but then his expression changed and he seemed a bit more calm.

"This is gonna look so good," Hyunjin said with a nod as we watched from afar.

"I'm alright but I should probably come down so we can finish going over our positions on the stage," Jisung said. His words felt off to me, like there was a hidden meaning but I shrugged it off. He told me to stop being so protective and making him feel weak. He'll be fine.

"Ok, good job. So the reason why you'll be up there for the minute is just while we wait for everyone else to get on the stage and in their positions. I want you to try and stay very upright and have a cool look on your face as practice as going down is the bit the fans will see," Manager-nim told everyone. I agree with the other's, it will actually look cool and it'll give our performance a bit of an edge. He started to come down and all was well but not even 10 seconds there was a loud noise and I looked up to see that Jisung was still suspended in the air and was no longer being lowered. Chan frowned and walked over to Manager-nim and the other's who were by the control panel.

"Why did you stop me," Jisung asked but no one replied. I was just as confused he was so I waited to hear what was going on.

"Channie Hyung," he called out, making me frown slightly. His tone was a little worrying, like he was trying to stay calm.

"Sorry Sung, something's happened with the controls so you'll have to wait a little bit before we can get you down," Chan said. Seriously? Didn't they check everything was working before they made Jisung go up. I swear to god if Jisung get's put in a bad situation because of this, I'm not going to be very happy at all.

"What do you mean it will take a bit? I want to come down now," he said. I could hear the slight hitch in his voice and it made my tense. I looked up and noticed a change in his presentation, he seemed more tense and was looking around nervously.

"Don't worry, they'll fix it and you'll be right back down," Chan told him. That seemed to be the wrong thing to say as Jisung's face fell and even from how far away I was, I could tell he was starting to panic. Was the anxiety getting to him?

"Hyung I want to come down," he said quickly, making everyone look up at him in confusion.

"Is he ok," Felix asked quietly.

"I need to come down Hyung. Minho Hyungie, bring me down. You said it was only a minute, please bring me down," Jisung said as he begun to sob. Shit, he really is panicking right now. This doesn't seem like a normal anxiety attack though and he's way up in the air which means I have no way to get to him and comfort him. This is not good!

"Sung, Sungie calm down aegi. You'll be down really soon ok, they're just trying to fix the machine," I said quickly as I ran to stand next to Chan, trying to give him any reassurance. I started to feel helpless as he began to struggle and thrash around. I needed to help him but I can't.

"I WANNA COME DOWN," Jisung screamed. It crushed my heart, hearing how scared he was. This wasn't just an anxiety attack, this was a full blown panic attack. I went to run as close to him as I could but Chan quickly grabbed my arm to stop him.

"Minho, you can't," he said quickly. I heard the sound of someone else crying but I was too focused on how Jisung began to choke and gasp.

"JISUNG," Felix screamed as he was held back by Changbin. He's not breathing properly, he's going to pass out if this keeps going.

"Jisung you need to calm down, you need to breathe," Changbin called out.

"Sungie, try and take a breath for Hyungs, please," I begged, having trouble to keep calm. He didn't even seem to be registering what we were saying, too busy panicking.

"Jisungie," Chan said.

"Hyung, what's going on. I'm scared," Jeongin said as he cried into Hyunjin's arms.

"He's scared of heights. He's scared of heights and we made him go up there." We all turned to Seungmin at his words as he looked wide-eyed up at Jisung. Oh my god, it makes so much sense. How the hell didn't we realise?

"Shit," I breathed out.

"Sung, Jisungie can you hear me," I asked desperately. He didn't even reply just continued to struggle until his movements completely stopping and his head lolling to the side. My breathing hitched and everyone went silent, so silent you'd be able to hear a pin drop.

"H-He passed out. T-That's good right. He's not scared anymore," Jeongin whimpered with wide eyes.

"I guess," Felix said quietly.

"Get him down. And if it's not working, then figure out a way," I said, sending a glare to our staff. At least they were decent enough to look guilty. How could they let him go up there when they weren't 150% sure it was safe and working. At least he's just passed out and not hurt.

"I don't know what happened, it was going up and down fine earlier," one of them said.

"Did you try it with someone attached," I asked through gritted teeth. They were silent which was all we needed to know.

"YOU DIDN'T TEST IT WITH A PERSON ATTACHED. ARE YOU MENTAL," Changbin yelled. I don't blame him. If he didn't do it, I would've.

"We're sorry, I'll call someone to help get him down," one of the guys said before rushing off. I looked up at Jisung sadly as he hung limply in the air. Jeongin is right, at least he isn't scared and crying anymore. Of course it's the one time I decide to not be overprotective that he get's put in a bad situation. This is why I need to look after him, because some people are incompetent.

"To be fair, he shouldn't have gone up if he had a fear of heights." I froze and slowly turned around with the most scathing glare I could muster.

"What did you just say," I spat angrily.

"Minho don't. I know you're worried about Jisung but getting angry at everyone isn't going to help," Chan said, placing a gently hand on my shoulder. I frowned and shrugged his hand off before running a hand through my hair. My eyes were welling up but I quickly pushed back the tears. I can't cry, I don't deserve to cry. Everything went quiet when there was a noise that sounded quite like a snap.

"What was that," Seungmin asked slowly. There was a bang and we all jumped, seeing a wire on the ground. My heart began to race as I looked up and saw that Jisung was hanging awkwardly in the air.

"Did that just come from the machine," Chan whispered. There was the sound of another snap and before I could even think, I found myself racing forwards. It was as if in slow motion as Jisung's body fell. I managed to catch him but the force pushed me backwards and I fell to the ground, smashing my back on the ground, my head knocking into the floor. I let out a whimper as I felt a pain shooting through my back.

"MINHO," Chan screamed as he rushed over.

"Stop! Chan don't touch them," Manager-nim yelled out as Chan went to pull me up. My back was hurting but I quickly moved my arms to wrap around Jisung's waist as he lay limply on top of me, ignoring the pain.

"Minho look at me. How bad does it hurt," Chan rushed out.

"I-It's ok. I'll be fine," I said quietly, whimpering as there was another flare up of pain in my back.

"I want to tell you off right now but at the same time I want to thank your stupidity. God, you could've gotten so hurt just then," Chan said shakily as he ran his hands through my hair gently.

"It's Jisung," I whispered.

"I know. You did good Minho, just hang in there ok, they're calling an ambulance," he said softly. I tried to nod but stopped when a wave of pain shot through my back and I cried out, a tear slipping down my face.

"It's ok Hyung, you're doing well," Seungmin said gently as he knelt next to me.

"Sungie didn't get hurt right," I asked worriedly.

"I don't think so. You caught him and coped the brunt of the fall," Chan said.

"Good, that's good," I whispered, closing my eyes to take a breath of relief. At least Jisung is ok.

"Minho, Minho don't go to sleep," Chan panicked, making me quickly open my eyes again.

"I'm not, Hyung I'm not. I was just relieved," I said quickly. He gave me a small smile but I could see the tears in his eyes still and I knew he was really scared and worried. I moved one of my arms so I could slip my hand into his unoccupied one. We sat like that for a few minutes as Chan continued to run his fingers through my hair until the paramedics showed up. Everything after that was a bit of a blur as I was injected with some sort of pain relief and my eyes slipped closed.

Jisung's POV

I was awake but at the same time I wasn't awake. Everything was dark but I could hear people talking.

"How are you feeling Lino?" Minho? Why is Chan asking if he's ok? Did something happen? I wanted to open my eyes, to check and make sure he's ok but I was to tired to so I resigned to keep listening instead.

"I'm fine, the painkillers helped. How's Jisung," Minho asked.

"He's ok. Doctors said he just has a sprained wrist so they've put a brace on. He'll still be allowed to dance, you on the other hand need a few weeks of rest. The doctors said you've only got a concussion and you've strained a few muscles in your back but you'll be ok," Chan said. Minho is hurt? How did he get hurt? I felt something soft and gently running through my hair and I felt more awake at the contact.

"You saved his life though," I heard Changbin whispered. Huh? What's everyone talking about? I slowly managed to peel my eyes open and I saw that I was in a hospital room on a bed, across to the right was another bed that Minho was lying on. He looked tired but he seemed alright. Jeongin was sitting on the end of his bed, Seungmin was next to it while holding his hand and Hyunjin was standing behind the Maknae rubbing his shoulders gently. Chan was standing against the wall between our beds, looking at Minho as they talked. I blinked and realised that Felix was the one running his fingers through my hair and Changbin was sitting on the bed next to me near the edge, holding my hand softly.

"Lino," I called out softly. His head immediately snapped towards me and he went to get up but Seungmin quickly stopped him.

"Hey Sung, how're you feeling," Changbin asked gently.

"I'm ok," I whispered.

"Does anywhere hurt," Chan asked as he walked over.

"No, I'm ok. What happened to Hyung," I asked as I quickly sat up. Chan quickly placed a hand on my shoulder to stop me.

"I want to see Minho Hyung," I said with a frown.

"It's ok Hyung," Minho called out. Chan sighed before letting go so I could get up. I quickly walked over to the other bed, frowning as I took a look over Minho.

"What happened Hyung," I asked quickly. He sighed before looking over to Chan Hyung who walked back over.

"You panicked and passed out. The wire that were holding you up snapped and you fell. You would've gotten badly hurt but Lino caught you and braced your fall but his head and back in the process," Chan said gently. I'm the reason Minho Hyung got hurt? All because I couldn't stop myself from panicking.

"I'm so sorry Hyung," I said sadly as I looked down. A hand slipped into mine and I looked up to see Minho giving me a small smile.

"I'm ok aegi, just glad you're safe," he said gently.

"I didn't mean to panic. I thought I would be fine. They promised it would only be a minute. I just, when it stopped I couldn't help it," I whimpered, tears welling up in my eyes.

"Shh, it' ok Sung. No one blames you," Changbin said as he pulled me into a hug.

"I didn't mean to, I promise," I cried.

"We know aegi," Chan whispered.

"I was so scared," I said sadly. Minho squeezed my hand and I looked over at him. He looked sad but sympathetic.

"Come here Sung," he whispered, moving over a bit to create some room on the bed. I tensed and was a little apprehensive, not wanting to hurt him but Chan gently moved me forwards. I slowly slipped into the bed and cuddled up to Minho's side, watching carefully to see if he was in any pain. He gave me a small smile and pulled me closer to him, letting me rest my head on his chest. I felt calm and safe in his arms, he really does protect me.

"Hey Hyung," I said softly. He hummed quietly.

"I think I'm fine with you being overprotective me now," I whispered. He wrapped his arms around my waist and placed a gentle kiss on my hair.

"That's fine with me."
