Stray Kids Chan (Somnophobia)

Chan's POV

Being an Idol means a lot of work. A lot of staying behind late at night to work on things, spending hours practicing late into the night and not getting a whole lot of sleep. But you still need sleep. Even if it's only a couple of hours, it's better than nothing. I usually get at least 4 hours of sleep, or I try to anyway. That's until the last time I went to sleep. I can't remember everything that happened in my dream, I can just remember that it was horrifying and I was petrified. I had slept in the studio thankfully and I woke up screaming and crying, sweat making my shirt stick to my skin. It was horrible and I felt disgusting. It took me a while to calm myself down from the panic attack that I was sent into the minute I woke up. I was exhausted by the time I was calm and I felt myself pulling towards sleep but then I remembered what had happened and the feeling I felt, and I really didn't want to feel that again. I ended up getting off the couch and going over to my computer, working on some songs for the rest of the night and early morning, not getting anymore sleep. I was fine the next morning, not sleeping for a night is something that's not uncommon for me sometimes, I can last not really sleeping for 24 hours. Minho was the only one that seemed to notice that I hadn't slept much and he cornered my during one of our breaks.

"Hey Minho, what's up" I asked.

"Don't give me that. You didn't come home last night," he said.

"Yeah, and," I asked.

"Why not," he asked me.

"Because I slept at the studio. It's not like I've never done that before," I said with a shrug.

"You look like you hardly slept," he said, concern laced in his voice.

"I'm fine Minho, nothing to be concerned about," I told him.

"It's my job to be concerned about you Hyung," he said with a frown.

"No it's not. What are you talking about," I scoffed.

"No it definitely is. You're the eldest so you keep an eye on everyone. I'm the second eldest which means it's my job to look out for the eldest who is very bad at looking after his health," he said with a frown. I smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of my neck.

"So, how much did you sleep," he asked.

"Three hours so it's not too bad," I lied.

"You really need to sleep more Hyung," he sighed.

"I know but I'm ok, really Min," I told him. He frowned but let it go as he walked off and called everyone back over for practice. I ended up staying back again after practice, despite the protests of Minho but I promised him I'd get at least 5 hours of sleep. Unfortunately I couldn't stick to that and once again I stayed up all night on my computer, not even getting a wink of sleep. I was thankful that there were no group schedules for today and all the boys had planned on either staying home and relaxing or going out somewhere together. That meant that I could just stay in my studio and continue working on some new songs. By the time it got to 10pm, I had officially been awake for over 60 hours straight and I was absolutely exhausted but I managed to will myself to stay awake, continuing on with my work. I was doing it for another hour when I heard a knock at the door.

"Come in," I called out tiredly, expecting Minho to walk in and start scolding me. To my surprise it wasn't Minho who walked in, but BamBam.

"Bammie," I said, blinking in surprise.

"Hey Channie, how's it going," he asked gently as he closed the door behind him.

"It's good," I hummed, confused as to why he was here. I mean we're from the same company so it's not like he's never around but he hardly ever comes to my studio.

"What're you doing here," I added.

"Just wanted to check on you. You doing ok," he asked softly as he walked over and leant next to the desk. I was starting to get nervous. BamBam can read me like a book and can see right through my lies. I could tell he knew something was wrong because he was being quiet and gentle, something he used to do when we were trainees whenever I wouldn't sleep properly. He knows it relaxes me and makes it more likely for me to fall asleep.

"Yeah, I'm great," I said, plastering a smile on my face. It didn't even faze him, he just raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms.

"Ok, fine. I haven't slept for a while but I'm fine," I said with a shrug as I turned back to the computer. A few seconds later, arms were gently wrapped around my neck and BamBam rested his chin on top of my head softly.

"Why haven't you slept," he whispered. I could already feel myself wanting to relax, to just get up and let myself be hugged by one of my closest friends but I fought against it and kept on writing some lyrics.

"Channie aegi," he said gently.

"Just can't, I don't want to," I shrugged.

"Why not," he asked me.

"Why are you asking do many questions," I asked with a frown.

"Why don't you want to sleep Chan," he asked again, ignoring my question. I sighed before giving up and replying.

"Last time I slept I had a nightmare. It was terrifying and I hated it," I said sadly.

"When was that," he asked.

"Three days ago," I shrugged. I heardhim gasp and he removed his arms, making me have to bite back a whine at thesudden lose of contact and comfort. I was going to continue writing but my chairwas suddenly spun around and BamBam was frowning in front of me, a hand on eitherside of the chair.

"You haven't slept in 3 days," he exclaimed.

"It's fine," I said rolling my eyes.

"No. It's certainly not fine Chan, you need your sleep. This is so unhealthy," he scolded, making me frown.

"Look BamBam, nothing against you but this really isn't any of your concern," I said, removing his hands and turning back to my work.

"Chan-."

"No BamBam. I'm fine. So you either stay here and shut up or leave," I snapped. I felt bad for snapping but him being there is jeopardizing me being able to stay awake. Everything went silent so I assumed he either left or did was I asked and went quiet. Little did I know the little shit was planning something.

BamBam's POV

I gasped when Channie said that he hadn't slept in three days. I used to often look after Chan and make sure he didn't overwork himself back when we were trainees but he never stayed awake for over 36 hours before I got him to sleep. When Minho called me saying he thought Chan was neglecting his health but he wouldn't listen to him, I said I'd look after him but I really didn't expect him to have not slept in three days. I understand that he might be scared if he had a nightmare but it was just one and it was three days ago. I moved back before grabbing the back of his chair and turned it around quickly, placing my arms on either side of him on the chair.

"You haven't slept in 3 days," I asked with a frown.

"It's fine," he said rolling his eyes. Classic Chan and trying to deflect everything.

"No. It's certainly not fine Chan, you need your sleep. This is so unhealthy," I told him off.

"Look BamBam, nothing against you but this really isn't any of your concern," he said as he shoved my hands away and turned his chair back around.

"Chan-."

"No BamBam. I'm fine. So you either stay here and shut up or leave," he yelled angrily. I was shocked at his outburst but I didn't take it to heart. All it did was show me just how exhausted he really was and how much he needed to sleep. I stayed quiet and looked around the room, trying to figure out a way to trick him into sleeping. My eyes landed on the couch and then a piece of wood that stuck out of the wall on the ground. A certain piece that Chan once warned me about ages ago so I wouldn't trip on it by accident and get hurt. An idea formed in my mind, one that makes me thankful I'm good at fake crying. I glanced over at Chan who was staring at his computer screen intently before starting my plan. I walked towards the door and deliberately tripped over the piece of wood, coming down with a crash as I cried out. It worked like a charm as Chan immediately spun around with his eyes wide. I quickly sat up and made my eyes start to water slightly.

"Bammie," he said as he rushed to my side.

"I-I forgot about the wood," I whimpered, making a few tears fall down. I felt slightly guilty at making him genuinely concerned but he really needs his sleep.

"Oh my god BamBam, I'm so sorry. I should have reminded you, especially because it's dark. Please don't cry Bammie. What do you need," he asked quickly.

"Cuddles," I sniffled, holding up my arms. It was a bit embarrassing acting like a child but it's for Chan so I don't care.

"Of course," he said, immediately scooping me up and placing me down on the couch, exactly what I planned. He sat down next to me and I cuddled up to him, placing my head on his chest as he ran his fingers through my hair softly. If I was tired, I would've fallen asleep within minutes but I, unlike some people, actually get some sleep when I need it. I waited a few minutes before I slowly moved my head up and rested it on his shoulder. He hardly even seemed to realise, zoning out a bit as he continued to play with my hair. I only waited a few seconds before lifting my head and gently pushing his down on to mine, wrapping my arms around him softly. His response was immediate. He was staring ahead tiredly, eyes slowly blinking but he relaxed in my hold. I started to pat his head gently, watching with a fond smile as his eyes kept slipping closed before he forced them back open, each time taking longer.

"Is Channie tired hmm," I asked softly. He just hummed in agreement, completely out of it. He can be pissed at me in the morning if he wants to. It only took a few minutes for his eyes to slip closed a final time and his breathing to even out as he slumped against me, his head rested on my shoulder. I sighed and held him close to me for a bit as he slept peacefully, waiting to make sure he was in a deep enough sleep that he wouldn't wake up. I gently moved him to lean back on the couch while I saved all his work and shut down his computer before going back to him. I slipped a hand under his knees and braced his back with my other arm, lifting him up gently so I wouldn't accidentally wake him up. I carried him out the room, down the hall and out the building. My manager was already waiting for me and didn't even question why I was late, nor why I was carrying a sleeping Chan.

"You want me to take you to the Stray Kids dorm," he asked me.

"Nah. I'm taking Channie back to ours," I told him. He nodded and drove off, arriving at the dorm a few minutes later.

"Thanks Manager-nim," I said as I picked Chan up and walked to the front door. I knocked and it was swung open by Yugyeom who went to yell but quickly stopped and instead paused in confusion.

"BamBam Hyung," he asked.

"I'll explain in a sec," I told him. He nodded and moved to the side so I could walk inside. He rushed ahead and I was confused at first but then understood what he was doing when the other members quietly walked over.

"Is he ok," Jackson asked as he gently as he ran his fingers through Chan's hair lightly.

"He will be. He hasn't slept in three days though, so I'm about to let him have the sleep of a lifetime," I said with a sigh.

"Three days? Seems like Chan needs another talk," Jaebeom said with a frown.

"Tomorrow. Right now he just needs to catch up on sleep," I said.

"I'll get him a change of clothes," Mark said as he walked off.

"We'll go set your bed so it's nice and comfortable," Youngjae said as he grabbed Yugyeom's hand as they rushed off to my room.

"We'll make him a hot water bottle," Jinyoung said as he Jaebeom went into the kitchen.

"I guess we'll look after Channie," Jackson said with a small smile. I carried him into my room just as Youngjae and Yugyeom finished fixing my bed and Mark walked in with a spare change of clothes.

"Look after him," Jaebom told us as he left.

"We need to wake him up so he can get dressed," Jackson said. I nodded and he stepped forwards, gently tapping Chan's cheek.

"Channie. Channie aegi, wakey wakey," Jackson said. Chan slowly started moving and his eyes blinked open.

"Jackson Hyung," he whispered sleepily.

"Hi darling, how're you feeling," Jackson asked.

"Tired, wanna sleep," Chan said as he snuggled down in my hold. I grinned and gently nuzzled my nose into his hair.

"You can sleep in a second but first you need to get changed alright," Jackson said softly. Chan slowly slipped out of my grasp and I kept my arms around his waist until he was stable. He stood there blankly for a few seconds before taking a few steps forwards and dropped his head down on Jackson's shoulder.

"Chan," Jackson chuckled.

"You change me," Chan mumbled. We both chuckled before grabbing the clothes an quickly changing him into Mark's clothes that were a little too big for him but made him look adorable and cuddly. Once we were done, Chan latched himself onto Jackson and cuddled to his side. There was a knock on the door so I opened it to find Jaebeom with a hot water bottle in his hands.

"Thanks Hyung," I said as he gave it to me.

"No problem, I'll talk to you guys tomorrow. Come get me if you need any help with anything," he said. I nodded as he left before closing the door. I went back over to Jackson and Chan who hadn't moved an inch.

"Let's get him to bed," I chuckled. Jackson gently guided Chan to the bed, letting him plop onto the bed and making us chuckle. Jackson turned the side lamp on as I turned the main light off and we both slipped into my bed which was thankfully large enough. Chan immediately turned around wrapped his arms around Jackson, cuddling close to him and rested his head on Jackson's chest. I watched as Jackson hugged him tightly and rested his head on top of the youngers, feeling a little jealous. Can you blame me. One of my best friends that I haven't seen in a while is less then a meter away from me but he's cuddling with my other best friends. I frowned slightly but Chan needs his sleep, if he prefers cuddling with Jackson then that's fine. I rested my head on my pillow and closed my eyes, planning on going to sleep but a whine made my eyes open once again and I came face to face with Chan who had turned slightly to look at me.

"What're you doing Bammie, I wanna cuddle," he whined.

"Oh, sorry," I chuckled, shuffling over so I could give him a back hug, wrapping my arm around his waist. He sighed in content and relaxed once again against Jackson, only this time Chan moved one of his hands to hold mine. I smiled and rested my head close to his neck, placing a quick kiss and making him relax even more. It didn't take long for his breathing to even out as he fell asleep, Jackson and I following soon after.

Chan's POV

I slowly blinked my eyes open and was surprised to find that I was resting half on top of someone. I lifted my head to see a familiar face smiling down at me softly as he sat up against the headboard.

"Bammie," I whispered in confusion before the events of last night came back to be.

"You tricked me," I said with a pout.

"Yup, but how are you feeling," he asked me. I was going to get annoyed at him but then I realised I was feeling the most well-rested I've been in a long time.

"Really good actually. I, I didn't have a nightmare," I asked him in surprise.

"No, you didn't. It seems like it was a one off," he said gently as he pulled me up so I was sitting and resting my head on his shoulder.

"Oh," I said slowly.

"I'm stupid aren't I," I asked with a sigh.

"No, you aren't. You were scared, that's not stupid," he told me.

"I didn't sleep for three days," I said.

"Yeah that was stupid, not gonna lie," he admitted. Before I could reply, there was a knock on the door before it opened and in walked Jaebeom and Jackson. Uh oh, time for another talk from my Hyungs. I sat up properly before moving onto BamBam's lap, leaning my head back against his lap as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

"How're you feeling Chan," Jaebeom asked as he and Jackson sat down on the end of the bed.

"Really good actually. So good in fact, that I'm going to go and practice," I said weakly.

"Not happening," Jaebeom said shaking his head.

"Look I'm sorry Hyungs. I got scared to sleep after having a nightmare. It freaked me out and it felt horrible and I didn't want to experience that again so I just didn't sleep," I said with a sigh.

"You know you shouldn't do that though Chris. Sleep is one of the most important things for us Idols," Jaebeom said softly.

"I know," I said with a sigh as I looked down.

"We aren't mad at you Channie, just worried. You need to know you can come to us whenever you have trouble ok. We're your Hyungs, we're here to help," Jackson said.

"I know that, I just forget sometimes," I said with a sigh.

"Well try not to. Minho was really worried about you," BamBam said. I looked up at him quickly in surprise.

"Lino called you," I asked.

"Yeah, he got worried cos you kept spending the night in your studio and he didn't think you were sleeping enough," BamBam replied.

"Ugh, that's my bad. I didn't mean to worry him," I said with a sigh.

"That's alright, he's fine. I talked to him earlier to let him know you were here and you were sleeping in as long as possible," Jackson said.

"Wait, what time is it," I asked quickly.

"1.28pm," Jaebeom replied.

"Shit, practice was at 9am. I'm so late," I said, scrambling to get up. I didn't get very far because BamBam tightened his grip around my waist so I couldn't move.

"It's fine Chris. I talked to your manager and you're exempt from all schedules today," Jaebeom said.

"Oh, thanks," I said, relaxing once again.

"So what're you going to do if you ever need help again," Jaebeom asked me.

"I'll come to my Hyungs for help," I replied.

"Good. Now why don't you come and have some breakfast," Jackson said. Breakfast sounds nice.

A/N

This was requested by @praslinF and I hope you enjoy it.

There's been a lot going on where I live and right now there's a pretty good chance that we'll be going back into lockdown yet again but it isn't confirmed yet. If we do, I might possibly update a little more but we'll see.

I hope everyone is going well and staying safe
