ATEEZ Wooyoung (Necrophobia)

A/N

This chapter has death in it although it's only brief and not very detailed and is not an actual person, just someone made up for this fic. It isn't and ATEEZ Member

Wooyoung's POV

Movie nights. We have them around once a fortnight without fail. Seonghwa says that it's team bonding and it's good to get together with everyone. It's also a good way to get Hongjoong out of the studio and make sure he doesn't overwork himself. Like right now, we're having our movie night and everyone is cuddled up together. Seonghwa and Hongjoong are laying on the first couch, Hongjoong's small body laying on top of Seonghwa's. The leader was relaxed, his eyes slipped closed and face lax as he slept quietly. It's not unusual for Hongjoong to fall asleep during our movie nights and it's actually quite endearing. We're only about 20 minutes into the movie and he's already asleep which makes me smile softly as I watch the two oldest cuddled up together. Seonghwa caught my eyes and sent me a small smile as he runs his fingers softly through Hongjoong's orange hair. I smiled back before continuing to look around to see what everyone else was doing. Below Seongjoong, Yeosang is leaning back against the couch, paying rapt attention to the movie playing on the TV, his eyes lighting up at different parts. It's cute. Yunho, Mingi and Jongho are all seated on the second couch. Jongho is on one end just relaxing by himself and watching the movie while Yunho and Mingi are cuddled up together, Yunho's head on Mingi's chest as the younger holds him tightly, whispering quietly to each other. That just left San. I didn't have to look around to find where San was sitting, given that he was right next to me, his eyes sparkling slightly as he watched the movie. You could tell every emotion he was feeling as his eyes and facial expression changed. I reached over and ruffled his hair gently before turning and paying attention to the TV once again. I had been looking around and getting distracted for a few minutes, which is why I didn't know what was coming up in the movie and why I didn't have time to prepare myself. I watched as the main character was playing soccer with his friend when the ball went onto the road. Without thinking, the friend ran onto the road before a car came speeding down and crashed into him. Then everything went fuzzy. It was like my mind was disconnected from my body. I could no longer hear the TV, could no longer see the boys, could no longer feel the usually comforting presence of San's shoulder against mine. Everything was white and there was a sort of static in my ears. The white turned to black before it lightened and a familiar memory was being shown. It was like I was actually there but I couldn't move, just listening, watching, reliving it...

"Oh come on Wooyoungie, you pwomised we could go to the store," a little boy said with a pout as he grabbed my hand.

"But mum said we shouldn't go off on our own because we're too young," I said shaking my head.

"You're 7, you're a big boy. Plus your my Hyung so you have to look after me," he said, grinning in triumph.

"I guess. Mum did always say too look after my dongsaengs. Where do you want to go Seokie," I asked him as I pat his head awkwardly.

"To the milk bar," he giggle, pointing across the street.

"Ok, we'll go to the milk bar," I nodded.

"Yay, come on Wooyoungie," he giggled once again. We begun to cross the street before I realised I left my bag on the side of the road.

"Seokie I left my bag, wait a second," I told him before turning around and running back to where my bag was. I picked it up with a small smile and turned to head back over to Wooseok who was still in the middle of the road grinning. One second I was looking at my younger friend, the next second there was a bang as a car smashed into him. He flew over the top of the hood and hid the ground with a thud as the car continued speeding off. I heard screams from bystanders who saw what happened, yells for an ambulance but I just dropped my bag and ran beside my friend.

"S-Seokie? Seokie, you ok," I asked as I shook his shoulder. He was covered in what I thought was red paint at the time but his eyes were open. That meant he was fine right? Except they weren't sparkling and shiny as they usually were, they were dull and just staring straight ahead, not moving.

"Seokie," I said, shaking him harder. I felt hands on my shoulders and I was suddenly being pulled away from the younger boy.

"No, what are you doing? Seokie will be scared. He needs me around to keep him safe, he doesn't like being alone," I begged the man who was pulling me away.

"It's ok child, it'll be ok..."

San's POV

Movie nights are always fun and I enjoy them a lot. I love being able to cuddle up to the members, especially Wooyoung and this is the perfect opportunity. I chuckled at what happened in the movie before turning to giggle with Wooyoung about it, except what I saw made me pause in confusion. Wooyoung's entire body looked tensed, his shoulders were pulled up, his hands clasped tightly in his lap, his face was red and his eyes. His eyes looked over, they were glazed over as he looked at the TV, or rather through it. It didn't even look like he was registering what was playing, rather just staring blankly. I slowly lifted my hand and waved it in front of his face but he didn't react. Didn't even flinch or blink, just continued to start blankly ahead.

"Young-ah? Wooyoungie, can you hear me," I asked gently, seeing if maybe that would get a reaction out of him. He still didn't react but I heard the TV get paused and I noticed the other's looking over.

"Everything ok," Yeosang asked in confusion. I barely registered the question, too worried as I looked at my best friend. He was completely frozen, eyes glazed over and completely out of it.

"Hwa Hyung, something's wrong with Wooyoung. Somethings really wrong," I said quickly as I turned to look over at the eldest worriedly. By this time Hongjoong was away, blinking sleepily but clearly paying attention. The two eldest quickly stood up and walked over, kneeling down in front of Wooyoung and I. They were quiet for a few seconds, just studying Wooyoung.

"I-Is everything ok," Jongho asked worriedly from where he has stood and was now fiddling with his fingers. I could tell the other's were getting worried and confused but Yeosang quickly went over to Jongho and wrapped an arm around him loosely to try and keep him calm.

"W-What's wrong with him Hyung? He won't react to anything," I asked quietly. Seonghwa quickly lifted his hand and placed it on Wooyoung's cheek, rubbing it gently with his thumb to try and get a reaction.

"I think he might be dissociating," Hongjoong mumbled.

"Dissociating? Since when has Wooyoung dissociated," Yunho asked quickly.

"I don't know, and I don't know if he is. It's just a suggestion given how he's acting," Hongjoong said with a sigh.

"But that's bad right? Dissociating isn't good. Doesn't it mean he's scared or something," Mingi asked quickly. Scared? Why would he be scared right now?

"I don't know, we can find out later. Right now we need to try and get him out of his head," Hongjoong said. Seonghwa continued to rub Wooyoung's cheek softly but once again the younger doesn't even move.

"Wooyoung-ah, can you hear me aegi," Seonghwa asked gently. I quickly reached out and grabbed the youngers hands. It was stiff and cold but I managed to unclasp them and slip mine into them, squeezing them gently. I gently rubbed my fingers over Wooyoung's knuckles while Seonghwa continued to cup his cheek. After a few minutes of us quietly trying to get him to react, I felt a small squeeze.

"Wooyoung, Wooyoung it's San. Can you hear me aegi? Squeeze my hand again aegi," I said softly.

"Did he react," Yeosang asked quickly.

"Yeah he squeezed my hand gently," I told him. When I looked back at Wooyoung, I gasped as I saw tears falling down his face. Seonghwa cooed gently as used his thumb to wipe away all of the tears the fell down Wooyoung's face.

"Why is he crying," Jongho asked quietly.

"I'm not sure," Seonghwa said with a frown on his face.

"Maybe you should give him a hug Sannie," Yunho said. I mean nothing else has worked so far so it's worth a shot. I quickly moved around so I was behind Wooyoung and wrapped myself around him tightly, resting my head on his shoulder.

"Wooyoungie, come back to me darling," I whispered into his ear softly.

"Hyung why isn't he reacting, this is scaring me," Jongho said. I looked up quickly when I heard a sniffle and saw Yeosang and Yunho hugging Jongho softly as he cried into their shoulder.

"Jjongie, it's ok. He isn't hurt, he'll be ok," Seonghwa said softly.

"Can you two take him up to his room, he doesn't need to see this," Hongjoong said softly. Yunho nodded and he and Yeosang helped guide the Maknae from the room.

"I don't know what else to do," Hongjoong said. There was a slight strain to his voice and I could see in his eyes that he felt useless and he didn't like that.

"Sannie, do you know when he went like this," Seonghwa asked with a sigh as he dropped his hand down.

"No, I just turned and he was like completely catatonic," I said shaking my head.

"This is kinda creepy. It's like he's not even here," Mingi said quietly.

"Because he isn't, well physically he is but mentally he's somewhere else," Hongjoong said with a sigh. I watched as Seonghwa quickly slipped his hand into Hongjoong's, linking their fingers and squeezing softly to offer the leader some support. It really isn't nice seeing Wooyoung like this, it actually is quite scary. I almost jumped in surprise when Wooyoung suddenly slumped against me. At first I thought maybe he was back to his usual self but given the gasps from the other's, I don't think that's the case. I quickly leant forwards and looked at Wooyoung to see his eyes closed and his face lax. Oh. He passed out. Oh my god, he passed out. Before I got the chance to panic, Seonghwa quickly spoke up.

"It's ok, it's ok guys. Wooyoung is fine. He isn't hurt, he just passed out. I know that doesn't sound good but he'll be ok. hopefully when he wakes up, we'll be able to figure what happened," Seonghwa said quickly.

"Right now we can't do much. All we can do is make sure he's comfortable and safe and just wait for him to wake up," Hongjoong agreed.

"Come on, give him to me Sannie," Seonghwa said gently. I looked up at him with wide eyes, my arms unconsciously tightening around Wooyoung. I don't know why but I found myself not wanting to let anyone near Wooyoung, wanting to protect him. I know my Hyungs would never hurt him but I was scared and confused so I clutched him tightly. The other three in the room went silent and Hongjoong's eyes softened.

"It's ok Sannie. Hwa isn't going to hurt Wooyoung. He's just going to carry him to your bed so you can look after him ok," Hongjoong said gently as he grabbed my hands gently and pulled them away from Wooyoung. I finally let go and sat back so Seonghwa could pick Wooyoung up. I quickly got up and followed him to my room where he gently placed Wooyoung down on my bed.

"Keep an eye on him Sannie. Come and get me if anything happens ok," Seonghwa said as he walked over and gently ran his fingers through my hair, brushing back my fringe before placing a gentle kiss on my forehead.

"I don't want you getting too upset about this darling. If you start feeling off, promise you'll come talk to someone ok. I know it was scary seeing him like that but he should be ok," Seonghwa told me firmly.

"I know, maybe check on the other's, especially Jjongie," I replied.

"I will, now relax for a bit," he told me, ruffling my hair one last time before he left the room. Yunho wasn't here but I just assume he'll be staying with Jongho and Yeosang. I quickly pulled off my hoodie before slipping into the bed and cuddling up to Wooyoung and pulling the blanket over the top of us. I gently brushed the hair away from his eyes, looking at his peaceful face. I couldn't help but remember the look he had on his face when I first turned to him. He didn't react, not even when I hugged him and kept calling his name. I just don't understand what happened and I couldn't help but worry about it. Wooyoung is my best friend and one second I was laughing with him, the next he was basically catatonic or dissociating or whatever that was. Mingi said that it probably happened because he was scared, but why would he be scared?

Wooyoung's POV

Warm. That's what I felt as I slowly begun to wake up. It didn't take me long to realise that I was in someone's embrace, it took me even less time to realise it was San. His arms were around my waist and my head was rested on his chest, given how I felt it slowly raising and falling. I slowly blinked my eyes open and lifted my head slightly to look up at San's face. I was surprised to see that he was already awake, or maybe he just never went to bed. He gave me a small, almost sad smile. Why is Sannie sad?

"Hey, you ok? Why haven't you been sleeping," I asked as I gently cupped his cheek. To my horror his face scrunched up and he begun to cry.

"Oh shit, Sannie. Hey, what's wrong? Shh, you're ok," I said, sitting up quickly to give him a tight hug. He cried into my shoulder for a few minutes before he finally calmed down and hugged me tightly. When he finally pulled back, he quickly wiped his eyes.

"You ok," I asked softly.

"Yeah, yeah I'm ok Youngie," he nodded. It was only then that I realised I was in his bed and not out in the loungeroom.

"Oh, I'm sorry for falling asleep, I must've been tired," I giggled. He furrowed his eyebrows and his eyes flitted over my face.

"D-Do you not remember what happened," he asked suddenly. Huh?

"What do you mean," I asked in confusion.

"During the movie? You didn't fall asleep. Y-You just stopped, and like sh-shut down. You weren't reacting, you weren't talking, you weren't doing anything. All you did was just stare through the TV blankly, it was actually kind of scary," he told me, his voice quietening on the last sentence. Oh, yeah now I remember. I quickly pushed the thoughts to the back of my mind before sighing and grabbing my hair. Shit, everyone saw that, they would've all been there.

"Hey, don't do that Young-ah," he said quickly, pulling my hands from hair quickly.

"Sorry. I'm fine, don't worry. It's nothing to worry about," I said quickly.

"Wooyoungie I was so worried about you, and I will continue to be worried until you explain what happened because the look you had scared me. I don't ever want to see you like that again," San said, gripping my hand tightly. I could see the worry in his eyes and let out a sigh. I don't want San to be upset.

"I need you to hug me, while I tell you alright. If I start acting like I did last night, just turn of the lights, give me something to hold like a plushie and then just hug me until I react again," I told him.

"Ok, but how come? What if you don't react and act like you did last night," San asked worriedly.

"Last night you probably didn't realise soon enough and by the time you did, I was probably too far gone. If you catch on quickly and help me early, then there's a good chance you can pull me back quickly," I told him.

"Pull you back? From what, I don't understand wh-."

"I'll explain why that happened Sannie, just remember what I said ok. I don't want you getting more upset if something happens," I told him.

"Ok, I'll remember it," he promised.

"Alright. Well this isn't exactly something easy to say so just bear with me please," I said. He nodded and quickly moved around and pulled me close so that I was sitting in his lap, my back to his chest and his arms wrapped around my waist.

"It's ok Youngie, I'm here for you," he whispered. That's all the encouragement I needed, so I begun.

"When I was younger, I had a friend. His name was Wooseok and he was a year younger than me and we had known each other since we were babies. He was basically my little brother and I-I loved him like one," I paused to take a deep breath as tears begun to fall down my face at the memories.

"When I was 7, we were walking home from school and Wooseok said he wanted to go to the store like I promised him. I reminded him that our parents always said not to go out alone but he convinced me to do what I promised as I was his Hyung and I should look after him. I gave in then as I could never really say no to him and mum always said to look after my dongsaengs. He wanted to go to the milk bar across the street and I said we could." I stopped and took a deep breath as a sob came out and San squeezed my waist gently, grounding me.

"We halfway across the street when I realised I forgot my bag and I ran back to get it. Wooseok waited for me. Except. Except he, he w-waited on the r-road," I broke off into tears again and buried my face into San's shoulder.

"It's ok Wooyoungie, you don't have to continue," he whispered softly. He's right, I don't need to but as much as it hurts to remember, it also feels good to talk about it.

"I turned around just in time, to see, h-him g-get hit by a car. It just ploughed right through him and d-didn't stop. I went to try and help him b-but I couldn't b-because he was already dead. He died because of me..."

"Wooyoung darling, can you look at me."

"Mum I wanna see Wooseokie," I said with a pout.

"I'm sorry baby but you can't see Wooseok anymore," she said. I was confused as to why she was crying, why is she so sad.

"Of course I can see Wooseokie, he's my little brother," I giggled.

"Wooseok isn't here any-Youngie-more. Wooseok has gone up to heaven," she told me quietly.

"What do you-Wooyoungie-mean," I asked in confusion.

"I mean tha-."

"Wooyoungie darling, come back to me." I blinked slightly, my fingers brushing something soft that I squeezed quickly. I turned my head to see San looking at me with a sad smile.

"Hey Youngie, you ok," he asked gently.

"H-How long was I," I trailed off.

"Just a few minutes, you ok now though," he asked me.

"Yeah, I'm alright," I nodded.

"So when you, I don't know, zone out. W-What's happening," he asked timidly.

"Just kind of having vivid flashbacks," I told him.

"Oh. I-I'm sorry. That that happened, and that you have to go through that. I wish I could help you, is there anything I could do," he asked quickly.

"Not really. This hasn't happened in almost 6 years. It only happens when there's a trigger," I told him.

"Oh, what was th-. The movie," he said as if having a sudden realisation.

"Yeah, that um, seen," I said awkwardly.

"Why didn't you say anything? You didn't have to watch if it was going to trigger you," he asked me.

"I just, I didn't want to spoil the fun for everyone else just because I was a stupid kid and went and got my best friend killed," I said before breaking into sobs yet again at the thought.

"It's ok Wooyoungie, it's not your fault and you wouldn't spoil anything," he whispered.

"Y-Yes it is. It w-was my, my job to look after Wooseokie," I cried.

"No it wasn't Wooyoung. You were 7 years old, barely a year older than him. It's wasn't your responsibility to look after him and it wasn't your fault what happened, I need you to know that Young-ah. The person who was driving the car is at fault, he didn't even stop. It's his fault, not yours," he said.

"P-Promise. Y-You promise it wasn't my f-fault," I asked.

"I do. I promise you and I wouldn't lie to you," he said firmly. It felt like a weight was slightly lifted of my shoulder and I fell completely into his hold, letting out harsh sobs. He just held me tightly, holding me together and letting me just let everything out through tears. I don't know how long we sat there like that for but after a while I finally stopped crying and sat back up, letting San wipe away my tears.

"What's the time," I asked with a sniffle.

"About midnight, you were out for around 3 hours," he told me.

"Did you sleep," I asked him.

"No, I didn't but that's ok. I'm just going to go and get something to quickly eat and I'll be back," he told me.

"I'll come," I said, following him as he got up and left the room.

"One last thing Youngie. You would never spoil the fun by not wanting to watch a triggering movie. We want you to be happy and safe, we really don't care about a stupid movie," he told me. I gave him a small smile and hugged him.

"I know," I said as we pulled away. As we were walking, I saw Seonghwa and Hongjoong's room and paused. I am still quite tired and I wouldn't mind cuddling with me older Hyungs.

"You ok," San asked softly as he paused to look at me. He looked to where I was looking and smiled gently.

"It's ok, go get some rest," he said, giving me a quick kiss before walking off towards the kitchen. I bit my lip nervously before slowly opening the door and poking my head inside. I quickly found the both of them laying in Seonghwa's bed cuddled together. I contemplated leaving because they looked peaceful but they won't mind. I quickly slipped inside and closed the door behind me before shuffling over to them.

"Hyungie, Hyungie," I whispered. Neither of them reacted so I just gave up and crawled onto the bed, climbing over Seonghwa and squeezing between the two of them. They both groaned as they were separated and Hongjoong quickly opened his eyes, immediately noticing.

"Wooyoung," he exclaimed, sitting up to hug me quickly. A few seconds later Seonghwa had sat up and was hugging me tightly from behind.

"Hey Hyungs," I whispered, relaxing in their embraces.

"How're you feeling," Seonghwa asked, placing a soft kiss to the back of my neck. I fell back into his hold and nuzzled my head into his neck in content. I always feel safe when I'm around my Hyungs and they always know how to help me relax. Hongjoong moved closer and cupped my face, rubbing my cheek softly with his thumb, I leant my head into his head and let my eyes slip closed.

"Wooyoungie, I need you to answer the question aegi," Hongjoong said softly.

"Wait. W-What question," I asked quickly, making the other's chuckle.

"How are you feeling," Hongjoong asked me.

"I'm ok, I've talked to Sannie and I'm feeling a lot better. I'm sorry about what happened but I'm really tired so could we maybe wait until tomorrow to explain everything," I asked with a small yawn.

"Of course, it's quite late so we should all get some sleep," Seonghwa nodded. He lay down, pulling Hongjoong and I down with him and we all shuffled around until we were cuddled up together, Hongjoong and Seonghwa sandwiching me between them. We were cuddled up together when light suddenly shone through door and we all looked up, surprised to see Jongho standing and biting his lips nervously by the door.

"Jjongie," I questioned in confusion. He was quiet for a few seconds before he quickly padded over.

"You doing ok now aegi," Seonghwa asked softly. Wait, now?

"What happened? Is everything ok," I asked quickly, worried about the Maknae.

"Jongho just got a bit upset after seeing you earlier," Seonghwa told me. At the same time, Jongho came closer and crawled into the bed, climbing over Seonghwa just as I did and settled next to me. It was more like on top of me given that there wasn't enough room on the bed. I didn't really mind through, wrapping my arms around his waist and pulling him completely on top of me, making him yelp slightly.

"Is this ok," I asked him quickly, knowing his thoughts about so much skinship and affection. To my surprise though, he nodded and snuggled down in my hold, nuzzling his head into my chest and letting out a soft breath. My heart warmed and I embraced the cuddle whole-heartedly, as it is almost a once in a lifetime chance.

"Get some sleep everyone, I don't want you all tired in the morning," Hongjoong mumbled.

"Sorry Hyung," I giggled. I closed my eyes and relaxed, finding myself drifting towards sleep. I almost jumped when I felt Jongho nuzzling his nose close to my neck. It made me feel really guilty, knowing that he must've been shaken up pretty badly to be so willing to initiate this much physical contact. I held him tighter, squeezing his waist softly and resting my head against his.

"I love you Wooyoungie Hyung," Jongho whispered suddenly.

"I love you too Jjongie, I'm sorry for scaring you," I replied quietly, trying not to annoy the Hyungs too much.

"S'Okay, I'm just glad you're alright now Hyung," he said, slipping his hand into mine. I smiled to myself in the darkness before slowly linking our fingers together, letting out a breath when he didn't pull back.

"Get some sleep Jjongie," I said, squeezing his hand softly. He nodded gently and settled even further in my hold. That's how we drifted off to sleep, wrapped up in each other's arms safely.
