ATEEZ San (Aerophobia)

Wooyoung's POV
We've got promotions in Japan coming up which means we need to take a plane over, which is why we are currently walking into one.

"Alright boys, pair up and get into your seats," Hongjoong told us. I immediately slipped my hand into San and tugged him along to the back seats where we could sit down. He gave me a small smile, one that didn't reach his eyes nor did his dimples come out, making me suspicious. He's seemed a little on edge today for some reason but when I asked, he just said he wasn't feeling the greatest. I sat down next to the window and San sat next to him. He seemed nervous but I don't know why he is so I decided to just let it go.

"You excited for Japan," I asked him as we waited. He didn't reply, just looked stayed looking down at his hands.

"Sannie," I called gently, making his head snap up and his eyes meet mine.

"S-Sorry, I was distracted. What did you say," he asked quickly. There was a slight edge of unease in his voice which made frown.

"You ok," I asked slowly.

"What? Yeah I'm fine," he replied quickly. I still wasn't very reassured but I decided to drop the subject because he didn't seem to want to talk about it.

"Alright. Well I asked if you were excited for Japan," I repeated.

"Oh, uh yeah, really excited," he said, giving me a small nod. There was an announcement on the speaker so we went quiet and listened. The flight-attendants showed us through the safety precautions and soon enough we were preparing to go into the air. I buckled my seatbelt in and grinned as I looked outside the window. I was excited to watch our take off but that excitement disappeared the minute we began to move and I heard a muffled whimper. My head snapped to the right and I looked over to see San's eyes filled with tears and his lips trembling as he gripped tightly onto the armrests, his knuckles turning white.

"Hey, hey Sannie, it's ok," I said quickly.

"Y-Youngie," he whimpered. Ok so he's either scared of heights or he's scared of flying, probably the flying but either way he's scared which isn't good. There wasn't a whole lot I could do, given the fact that we were taking off and had to have our seatbelts on. I quickly peeled his left hand off the armrest and slipped mine into his, linking our fingers.

"Shh, you're ok. I'm here Sannie, you're safe," I whispered as I moved to the edge of my seat and moved his head down so it was buried in my shoulder. The hand that was holding mine was squeezing tightly almost making me wince but I held it back and just let him squeeze it as tight as he wants. He moved his other hand and turned his body so he was gripping my shirt as he shook and sobbed into my shoulder.

"Ah Sannie, why didn't you say anything darling," I asked gently as I held his head down while softly running my fingers through his hair. He just whimpered and buried his head further into my shoulder, clutching onto my hand and shirt as if his life depended on it. It pained me to see San so scared when he's usually so cool, calm and collected. I just continued to comfort him as much as I could, whispering sweet words to him until we finished ascent. The minute the seatbelt light went off, I quickly lowered the armrest dividing the seat, unbuckled both of our seat belts and pulled San off his seat and onto my lap. His whole body was shaking but he straddled my legs and wrapped his arms around my waist, burying his head in my chest. He was breathing heavily, stuttering and harsh breaths coming out. I moved my head so my mouth was near his ear.

"Shh, take a deep breaths Sannie, deep breaths," I whispered.

"Breathe with me," I added quickly. I made my breaths louder as I kept my mouth near his ear to help him breathe along with me. It took a few minutes for his breathing to calm down but even after, he continued to cry in my hold.

"M'scared Youngie," he whimpered.

"I know you are darling, but you're safe with me, I promise," I told him gently. He whimpered yet again as he cried into my shirt. I just hugged him tighter and rubbed my hand up and down his back for extra comfort. I placed a gentle kiss on the side of his head hoping to calm him down slightly. He nuzzled his head into my neck, nosing into the warmth. It tickled and his nose was cold but I didn't move him, instead just resting my head lightly against his. We sat there for about 10 minutes as he cried into my neck while I consoled him before he fell asleep, still cuddled up to me. I considered putting him back in his sleep so he could rest properly but San loves cuddles, especially mine and he seems comfortable so I decided to just let him be cuddled up in my lap. I'm glad that KQ hired the whole plane so it's only us and our staff otherwise this might look a little weird to other people. I smiled fondly at my sleeping best friend, placing a gentle kiss on his cheek. I made sure he was deep asleep before I delicately lifted his head off my shoulder and used my sleeve to wipe away the tears that were still on his face before lowering his head back down onto my shoulder. I grabbed my phone and rested my head down on San's shoulder so I could look down at my phone as I pressed play on a movie. I don't know how long I was sat there for with San still sleeping in my lap comfortably before Hongjoong came into my view with a raised eyebrow. I smiled sheepishly up at him, tightening my grip on San.

Hongjoong's POV

When we finished ascent and were told we could unbuckle, I immediately did and stretched, preparing to settle down for the 2 hour flight.

"How much trouble do you think the kids will get into during this flight," Seonghwa asked as he looked up from his phone.

"Honestly, I don't think Wooyoung will last 20 minutes without causing trouble and he'll probably rope San into it and Mingi won't be too far behind if Yunho can't entertain me," I said with a groan. I was really looking forward to relaxing this flight but I feel like the boys might get a little energetic considering it's our first plane trip as a group.

"Why don't we relax and maybe check on everyone when we're one hour in," he suggested.

"I like with that idea," I nodded. I lowered our arm rests and scooted over as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and I cuddled up to his side.

"Let's watch an episode of this new drama I've been watching," Seonghwa said as he pulled out his laptop.

"Which drama," I asked.

"The Untamed." I immediately sat up straighter and grinned.

"See! I told you, you would like it! Ha," I shrieked.

"You're turning into Wooyoung," he said raising an eyebrow and making me calm down as I rolled my eyes.

"But you've gotta admit, The Untamed is awesome," I pointed out.

"Awesome? It's better than awesome Hongjoong, it's amazing. How cool is it whenever Wei Ying is playing his flute and Lan Zhan protects him? And that scene in the cave where they end up looking after each other," Seonghwa ranted, his eyes shining.

"Yes it's great, like I said. Now let's watch the next episode," I whined. He chuckled and pulled me closer before giving me one of his air pods and pressing play. I smiled happily as the opening scene began. We managed to watch an episode and a bit when I realised it had been an hour since we left the airport and it was time to check on everyone.

"I'm gonna go check on the kids quickly, you can keep watching," I told him. He gave me a small smile and nodded before looking back to his computer. I quickly slid out of my seat and walked over to the first duo, Mingi and Yunho. They were sitting peacefully, doing their own thing on the their computers. When they saw me, they both took their headphones out and looked up.

"Hey Hyung," Mingi said with a small smile.

"Hey boys, how're you both feeling," I asked them gently.

"Pretty good, I think Mingi-ah is a little tired though," Yunho said as he ruffled Mingi's hair fondly. Mingi blinked at me tiredly before giving me a dopey smile and a sleepy nod. I chuckled and pinched his cheek gently.

"You should get some rest aegi, we've still got another hour so plenty of time," I told him. He nodded before leaning back in his sleep and closing his eyes.

"Keep an eye on him and come get Hwa or I if you need anything," I told Yunho. He nodded before looking back to his laptop. Satisfied with the duo, I moved onto the next pair, cooing internally at what I saw. For reference to what makes what I saw so sweet, Jongho is our sweet muscly Maknae who doesn't really like skinship. He will occasionally allow for a quick hug but generally doesn't like much skinship unless it's rare occasions when he initiates it. What I saw though, was a clearly Jongho looking after his hug. Jongho was sitting there unbothered as he was looking down at his phone. Yeosang was next to him, eyes slipped closed and body slack as he leant against Jongho, his head resting on the youngers shoulder. His arms were wrapped around the Maknae's waist, his hands gently fisting the bottom of his shirt. He looked exhausted but comfortable and happy which made me smile. I knelt down next to Jongho, making him look up from his phone.

"Hey, how're you doing," I asked him.

"I'm fine," he said, going to shrug before freezing and quickly turning to look at Yeosang, relaxing when he saw he was still asleep. I forced back a smile, knowing it would only make Jongho uncomfortable.

"When did he fall asleep," I asked him.

"About 15 minutes into the flight. He's been so tired lately and working so hard, I didn't have the heart to wake him up or move him," he told me.

"You're a good Dongsaeng Jongho. Yeosang definitely needs some sleep right now and I'm glad you're letting him be comfortable," I praised him.

"Of course Hyung. I know I don't like skinship much but if anyone needs it, I'm always going to be here and lend a shoulder or give a hug," he said.

"What did we do to deserve a Maknae like you," I asked with a fond sigh.

"There was nowhere else," he joked, making me chuckle.

"That's more like you," I said rolling my eyes.

"Go away Hyung. I'm ok but you're just going to wake Sangie Hyung up," he whispered.

"Ok, I'll go now. Come get Hwa and I if you need anything alright," I told him.

"Ok, now go," he repeated.

"Ok, ok, I'm going," I giggled as I stood up and moved to the back where the last pair were. Woosan is a very special duo, they have a very close bond, so close that they even got matching tattoos basically saying they're going to be friends until they die. I'm used to walking into their rooms and seeing them cuddling, or having them hugging backstage so I was expecting them to be cuddled up to each other's side. What I didn't expect was to find San straddling Wooyoung, his arms around his waist and head on his shoulder, face pushed up to his neck. I couldn't tell if he was awake or not but it seemed like he was sleeping. Wooyoung had his head on San's shoulder as he looked down at his phone. I raised an eyebrow as I walked closer and knelt down so Wooyoung could see me. He looked up and sent me a sheepish smile and I noticed him tighten his hold on San's waist.

"Do I even want to know," I asked with a sigh. These two are honestly just lucky that this flight had only KQ members otherwise they'd be starting some scandals.

"He panicked, really badly," Wooyoung whispered, making me tense up.

"What do you mean he panicked," I asked quickly.

"Shh, we can't wake him up before we get to Japan," he whispered quickly.

"Wooyoung you're worrying me. What exactly happened," I asked quickly, keeping my voice down.

"When the plane started, he began to cry and he was scared so I held his hand and comforted him as much as I could before we were allowed to unbuckle. Then I just pulled him onto my lap and calmed him down until he cried himself to sleep," Wooyoung said sadly. My heart clenched at the knowledge that one of my Dongsaengs was scared and panicking not too far away from me while I was laughing and enjoying a movie.

"Why would he be scared though," I asked slowly, shaking my head.

"I think he must be afraid of flying or something but didn't tell us," Wooyoung said. That makes sense I guess.

"Aish. I'm sorry for not realising Wooyoung. Hyung should've helped," I apologised.

"It's fine Hyung. I think it was better just having me there so he didn't get too overwhelmed," he told me.

"How're the other's," he added quickly.

"Seonghwa is watching The Untamed, Mingi is trying to sleep, Yunho is on his computer, Jongho is on his phone and Yeosang is sleeping on his shoulder which was absolutely adorable," I said, making Wooyoung grin.

"He actually does that often," Wooyoung said, making me raise an eyebrow.

"Jongho. He doesn't admit it but he has a soft spot for Yeosang. When Yeosang has trouble sleeping, he'll go to Jongho and Jongho will cuddle him until he goes to sleep, or when Yeosang is exhausted in the van after practice or shows, he let's him rest his head on his shoulder and sleep until we get back to the dorm," Wooyoung told me.

"Really," I asked in surprise.

"Yeah. No one really notices because they sit up the back and we all do our own thing but I find it cute," Wooyoung said with a small smile. I mean yeah, I'd probably find it cute as well, given that it's a rare occurrence.

"Can you take a picture for me," he asked innocently.

"Weirdo," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Hey, it's too cute to miss," he shrugged.

"Even more of a weirdo," I chuckled.

"Eh, we all know that already though," he said.

"True. Why don't you keep looking after Sannie and come get me if you need anything alright," I said gently as I stood up and ruffled his hair.

"Of course. He's good here with me," Wooyoung nodded. I gave him a small wave before I walked back to me seat and sat down next to Seonghwa, maybe taking a photo of Jongho and Yeosang secretly on the way.

~~~~~
Soon enough it was almost time for the plane to land. I quickly got up and went back over to Wooyoung, knowing he'd need help getting San back into his seat. Wooyoung smiled appreciatively as I pulled the slightly older off his lap and gently placed him down on his seat, his head lolling to the side but he stayed asleep. I buckled him in gently and placed a small kiss on his forehead. Wooyoung buckled in and shuffled over, quickly moving San's head to rest on his shoulder. Once I saw that they were fine, I started making my way back to my seat, checking on the other's as I walked past. Jongho and Yeosang were still in the exact same place as last time I saw them, except now Jongho was sleepily resting his head on top of Yeosang's and I found myself internally cooing once again. Mingi was fully asleep now and Yunho was sitting there with his phone in his hand, playing music through his headphones. When I got back to my seat, I sat down and buckled in, checking Seonghwa to make sure he was buckled in as well.
"Everyone all good," he asked me.
"Yup," I nodded.
"Good, let's just sit back and relax until we land. Shouldn't be long now," he said. I nodded and leant back, just waiting until it was time to leave. When the plane finally landed, everyone got up. Mingi, Yunho and Seonghwa were all fully awake and talking. Yeosang was awake but looked half asleep as he was standing and leaning up against Jongho who was gently trying to coax him into being more awake. Wooyoung and San were the only one's still in their seats. Wooyoung looked over at me helplessly as he slipped out of his seat and knelt next in front of San. I don't want to wake Sannie yet, it's probably better to wait until we're out of the plane but neither Wooyoung nor I would be able to comfortably carry him without waking him up.
"Yunho, I need you to come and help carry Sannie for me," I said. Everyone turned to look at San in confusion, even sleepy Yeosang.
"Just wake him up," Mingi said with a raised eyebrow.
"He wasn't doing too well earlier and panicked. I don't feel comfortable waking him up just yet," I told them.
"Oh, ok," Yunho said with a nod. He went over to San as Wooyoung unbuckled him and gently lifted him up into his arms. Wooyoung quickly helped position San so he was in a comfortable position with his head rested on Yunho's shoulder as he held him bridal style. Once everyone was ready, we quickly excited the plane and headed over to the luggage area.
San's POV
"Sannie. Sannie aegi, time to wake up." I slowly peeled my eyes open and looked up to see Wooyoung and Hongjoong gently smiling down at me.
"Hey Sannie, you doing ok," Wooyoung asked softly. I was confused for a few seconds before I remembered being on the plane and I shot up, my breathing quickening.
"It's ok Sannie, you're safe. We're in Japan now and you're off the plane," Wooyoung whispered as he hugged me quickly. I hugged him back tightly and quickly looked around with wide and fearful eyes. I relaxed when I realised we really weren't on the plane anymore. That means no more flying, it means I'm safe, we're all safe.
"Thank god," I whimpered, taking a deep breath as I calmed down.
"That's it, you're ok," Hongjoong said gently as he ran his fingers through my hair. I slowly pulled away from Wooyoung, making sure to slip my hand into his as we both stood up and turned to face the other's.
"Anything you want to tell us," Seonghwa asked, raising an eyebrow. I shifted uncomfortably before sighing. It's probably time to tell them considering the fact we're a group and will be flying quite a lot.
"I um, I'm scared of flying," I admitted. Everyone was silent and it was slightly tense, a few of them looking disappointed.
"Dumbass," Jongho whispered, making everyone turn to look at him with a raised eyebrow.
"What? He's scared of flying and yet he didn't tell anyone and we got on a flight. That's unbelievably stupid, he could've gotten really hurt. I mean I love him to death but he's a dumbass," Jongho shrugged.
"Aw thanks," I said, giving him a small smile as I registered his words.
"For what? I just called you a dumbass, twice," he said in confusion.
"You also said you love me to death, so thanks and I love you too," I said, flashing him a smile. He went bright red in embarrassment before, flashing me a timid smile.
"I agree with the Maknae, that was really silly of you," Yunho said softly.
"I know, and I'm sorry," I said with a sad sigh as I looked down at the floor guiltily.
"No one's mad Sannie," Wooyoung whispered as he squeezed my hand gently and placed a small kiss against my temple.
"Are you sure," I asked as I cautiously looked up at everyone. Seonghwa's eyes softened immediately.
"Yeah Sannie, no one is mad. We're just glad nothing too bad happened and you're ok," Seonghwa said softly.
"Positively," I asked nervously. He and Hongjoong quickly walked over and pulled me into a hug, the other's joining quickly.
"We're positive," Hongjoong whispered. I melted completely into the cuddle group.
"I'm sorry for not saying anything," I whispered.
"Shh, we don't care Sannie. We know now and you're ok so that's all that matters," Yeosang whispered as he rested his chin on my shoulder. I let out a sigh and rested my head against his.
"Thanks guys," I said quietly.
"Anytime aegi."
