"They're arriving today! Everything has to be perfect!"
You and your mother finished your tidying, making sure that everything was in perfect condition.
Mr. Ong was having the lovely Ms. Lee and her eight sons finally move in with him. You could tell he really adored her by the way he spoke about her and how often he did so. Once everything was pristine, you and your mother went upstairs to your respective rooms to change into more formal clothing. You put on a nice outfit - almond dress pants and a nice blouse to go with it. You then slicked your hair back and let a few stray pieces fall and frame your face, creating an effortless model look. You put your favorite heels on, and continued on down stairs.
Mr. Ong never made any of the maids or servants wear uniforms, and that was one thing you enjoyed about working for him. All together, he had seven maids and nine servants. Fortunately for him, he could afford such people to keep his home in tip-top shape for him.
The door bell rang and everyone lined up in the corridor as Mr. Ong opened the door. Everyone bowed deeply to show respect to their new guests, which clearly flustered Ms. Lee.
"Nobody needs to do that-"
"Nonsense." Mr. Ong smiled and took her hand. "They do it out of respect."
You silently greeted her and all of the boys as they ventured through the corridor. You weren't expecting boys who were closer to your age. After everyone found their way into the living room, everyone once again lined up so that Mr. Ong could introduce the maids and servants to everyone.
After introducing your mother as Ms. Kyun, you were last, as your introduction was 'more' important. "And this young lady here is Sanghee, daughter of Ms. Kyun. Sanghee is my head servant."
You bowed your head and smiled at them all. "It's a pleasure to meet you all."
"Sanghee will show everyone to their rooms and be glad to help if needed." Mr. Ong said.
You nodded. "Yes, let me show you where all of your rooms are."
The boys picked their bags up and followed you upstairs. They were surprisingly quiet, probably because they were still taking everything in.
"The house is quite big, so there are temporary name tags next to everyone's door." You stopped and motioned outward. "These rooms in this hallway are yours, so please fell free to find them. If you need any help, I'll be waiting here."
The boys smiled and the boy with orange colored hair spoke up. "Thank you for showing us where our rooms are. We won't ask for much else. Thank you, though."
"Of course." You smiled back. "Our head maid, Mrs. Ryu, will be up shortly to notify you all when dinner is ready."
They gave you quick nods and you headed back downstairs. You found Mr. Ong and Ms. Lee talking at the table, so you tried to avoid them in order to not disturb them, but Ms. Lee waved you over.
"You look like you're around the same age as my boys," she paused. "How old are you?"
"Seventeen. I'll be eighteen soon." You smiled.
"That's lovely! I bet the boys will get along with you just fine."
You gave her another smile and headed off to the kitchen to help with dinner. Once it was ready, Mrs. Ryu went upstairs and summoned the boys like you told them she would. You stood there with your hands behind your back and smiled once everyone was seated.
"We hope you enjoy your dinner." You beamed.
"You won't eat with us?" One of the younger boys asked.
"She'll be eating with the maids and servants, Jeongin." Mr. Ong said.
Jeongin let out a small 'oh' and nodded slowly. You smiled once again and disappeared from the kitchen. Truth was, you had a million other things to do before you could even think about eating.
After all of your tasks were done, you went upstairs to your room, which was in a corner of the house. You liked your corner room, because there was a fairly big window looking out over the city. The lights lulled you to sleep most nights, other nights you barely got any sleep. You changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt, then put your dog on her leash.
"You wanna go outside, Hwan?"
She wagged her tail and did a few circles before you picked her up and headed downstairs. You took her out to the spacious backyard and let her run around, playing with her as she ran by you a few times. The sliding glass door opened and one of the boys walked out with a cute dog in their hands. Before you could compliment his pup, you remembered that you were in casual clothes.
"Excuse my appearance," you said. "I didn't think anyone would be awake to see me like this."
"No worries, you still look really pretty." He smiled. "And I was asleep, until Kkami here woke me up to go outside."
Your cheeks were a bit red from his compliment, then Hwan ran up as he put Kkami down. They sniffed, then started playing together. The boy sat next to you and looked over.
"I'm Hyunjin, by the way. I don't think we've had a proper introduction."
"No, we haven't, but it's nice to meet you."
After letting the dogs run around a bit, you both went back upstairs and to your rooms. You still had to study for a test and it was already close to midnight. Hopefully you would be able to get some sleep at some point.
Everyone was sitting at the table the next morning, and Chan hadn't seen you all morning. "Where's Sanghee, Mr. Ong?"
"She's relieved of her morning duties on week days for school. She leaves early on school days."
Chan nodded slowly. "What school does she go to?"
Ms. Lee perked up. "The same one you boys are going to! Isn't that fun?"
"I think so." Jeongin replied, nodding enthusiastically.
"Because you think she's pretty." Seungmin commented.
"Because she is?" Felix agreed, then paused. "Why doesn't she just ride with us if we go to the same school?"
"She's always been like that," your mother chimed in. "You know, early bird gets the worm."
The boys were excited to see you in a different light. You were about the same age as them, yet you had to act so much older due to your job. They just wanted to see your playful side.
At school, you were in the library with your head resting on your arms. You kept wondering if the boys would get the attention of celebrities. From what you've gathered so far, they were kind and clearly handsome, so of course they would get a decent amount of attention.
"Sanghee!" Kiyoshi and Nabi, your best friends, shook you frantically.
"What?"
"There is a stampede coming into the library, we gotta go!" Kiyoshi said.
You looked at him and slowly stood up. "A stampede?"
"There are eight new guys and you know how it gets. We should leave before it gets too crazy." Nabi added.
You nodded in agreement and hurried out of the library. The three of you made a circle and stood several feet away from the crowd of frenzied students trying to get a look at the new guys. You almost laughed at how frazzled the boys looked because of the attention, but you also felt bad. The bell rang and everyone started to begrudgingly make their way to class. You, Kiyoshi and Nabi made your way to first period as well.
You were surprised that the boys didn't see you, but you didn't really mind. Part of you didn't want to become a target of the girls and boys who got butt-hurt when the attractive kids talked to someone other than them. That part of you made you feel somewhat guilty - you shouldn't feel that way of people that you're now living with.
Finally, the bell for lunch rang. You happily linked arms with your friends and went to the cafeteria, in hopes of filling your tummy with good food. You instantly spotted the boys, as they were pretty much the center of attention, once again. This time, Jeongin spotted you and waved, so you smiled and waved back.
"Do you know them?" Nabi asked.
You wouldn't lie. "A little bit, yeah."
"Don't worry, Sanghee." Kiyoshi put his hand on top of your head. "I won't let their new fans attack you."
The boys watched as you laughed and playfully slapped the boys hand off of your head. It was interesting to see you not being so formal.
Halfway through lunch, you noticed murmuring and looked up from your tray. In the doorway of the cafeteria, Wonshik, one of the seniors was picking on Seojun, one of the freshmen boys. You could tell that it was about to get ugly, so you discreetly got up and made your way over there. Chan caught sight of this and pointed it out to his brothers.
"What's she doing?" Changbin asked.
"She looks determined." Jisung commented.
You got close enough to grab Seojun as Wonshik was trying to hit him. It wouldn't have been a super hard hit, but it was still unacceptable. Seojun gave you a quick thank you and went back to his table, sandwiching himself in between his friends.
"Aw," Wonshik cooed. "Seojun's mommy saved the day."
You pushed Wonshik back, into the hallway so that nobody would see you both conversing. You sighed and gave him a look.
"Do you not have anything better to do? You just like picking on other people, for what? For fun?"
He clicked his tongue and reached for your hip, but you stepped back. "I could try to win my Sanghee back to pass the time."
"I was never yours, but nice try." You scoffed. "Just stop picking on everyone. It's annoying."
"Or what?"
"I'll make sure to put in a good word to your coaches, Wonshik. Oh, I bet if your college knew that you weren't just the sweetest, they wouldn't want to give you that scholarship."
"That's a bit harsh, don't you think?"
"That's all that will get through your thick skull, Wonshik, and technically," you paused and kissed your teeth. "Bullying other people because of your own shortcomings, is harsh."
He made a noise, indicating that he was offended. He opened his mouth to say something, but you turned on your heels and went back inside the cafeteria. On your way to your table, Seojun smiled and waved you over.
"Will you play UNO with us, Sanghee?" He asked sweetly.
You instantly sat down. "I love UNO."
After school, the boys and Ms. Lee were all gathered around in the garden. They were talking about their day, then their mom lit up.
"So, how is Sanghee? Have any of you spoken to her?" She asked.
"I did last night." Hyunjin spoke up. "I was taking Kkami out, and turns out, Sanghee has a cute little Papillon."
Jisung gasped. "And I didn't know about this puppy, how?"
Ms. Lee laughed. "But what about her?"
"We watched her stop a fight today." Jeongin said. "It was really cool."
"She seems very outgoing." Minho stated.
"And mysterious." Felix added.
"It takes a lot for some people to open up." Ms. Lee said. "I encourage you boys to be friends with her, warm her up so that she's not so formal. She deserves to act like a teenager in this house every once in a while."
Meanwhile, you and your mom were folding laundry. "So, how are the boys?"
You pursed your lips. "Good? Why do you ask?"
"Well," she trailed off. "Do you think any of them are cute?"
You laughed. "They're all very handsome."
"Have you tried talking to them? And before you say 'I always talk to them', I'm talking about when you're not handing them their food."
You shrugged. "Not really."
She patted your shoulder. "You can be friends with them. I think the nine of you would make a fabulous friend group."
"Maybe."
After dinner, you and the other maids and servants had cleaned everything up and gotten dressed in your pajamas. You were heading downstairs to ask Mr. Ong a question, when you heard the boys asking a question as well.
"Can we invite a few friends over for a little bit?" One of them asked.
"That's fine." Mr. Ong replied.
He started to walk away. "Oh, Mr. Ong?"
He turned back to you and hummed. "Yes, Sanghee?"
"Can I spend some time with Nabi and Kiyoshi?"
"No."
You froze. "Oh."
He smiled and walked off. You headed back upstairs, but the boys called your name.
"Why don't you hang out with us?"
"I wouldn't want to bother anyone, I'll just go upstairs and study."
"No!" Hyunjin said as he scooted the pillow across the floor to make a spot for you. "Come sit."
He grabbed another pillow and put it in that small gap. You hesitantly joined their circle and gave them all a quick smile.
"You still don't even know some of our names, silly." One of the boys with an ashy hair color stated. "I'm Jisung."
"I'm Changbin." The boy with blue hair smiled.
The boy with the orange hair scooted forward. "I'm Minho."
The boy with the faded purple hair and pretty freckles smiled a god given smile. "I'm Felix."
"I'm Chan, the eldest brother." Chan said with a proud stance.
You laughed as the last boy with the almost fuchsia hair color went last. "And I'm Seungmin."
You nodded politely. "So, do you all like it here so far?"
"It's very nice, and Mr. Ong seems to make our mom really happy." Chan replied. "It's nice being here."
"I feel bad that we have people serving us, though." Changbin commented.
"It's our job, we mostly enjoy doing it." You told them.
"How did you become head servant?" Minho asked.
"Well, my mom was actually head servant for a long time, since before I was born." You started. "Then when I was fifteen, she fell ill and I became head servant. She had gotten too weak to do some things, so Mr. Ong made me head servant."
"He made a fifteen year old head servant? When there were probably older people who would have more time to be head servant?" Hyunjin questioned.
You shrugged. "I was young and had more energy. I've been doing stuff around this house since I was eleven, it just got more intense at fifteen."
That didn't sit right with the boys, but they didn't mention that. Instead, you all started playing a fire round of twenty one questions. You learned quite a bit about them through the game.
"Oh! I want to see this Papillon that Hyunjin spoke about." Jisung said.
You smiled. "Let me go get her."
A few minutes passed and you came back with your multi colored Papillon, Hwan. Jisung gasped and made grabby hands at her, so you placed her into his arms. She made a few excited squeals, then hopped out of his arms and ran to you.
"How long have you had her?" Jeongin asked.
"Almost eight years. I got her on my tenth birthday, so every birthday is also our anniversary." You smiled.
Felix mumbled something about how cute that was and made your cheeks heat up. The doorbell rang, so you quickly stood up with Hwan to greet whoever was about to come inside. Chan came back with two other guys his age, and you bowed politely.
"What's that about?" The first boy questioned.
Chan slapped his back. "She's being nice, the least you can do is be nice back."
"Hey, isn't this the Ong house? With all the servants and maids?" The second boy asked.
Chan nodded hesitantly, and the first boy looked at you. "My name is Andrew and he's Junseok, so do you have to call us master or something?"
Your eyebrows jumped out of shock and you looked at the boys on the floor, who looked extremely embarrassed. "That's cute, but no."
Andrew pouted and reached for Hwan, who growled at him. She only did that to people that didn't carry a good aura with them.
"Dude, that was rude." Junseok mumbled. "I was just asking a question, you took it way too far."
Andrew scoffed and jumped over the couch, plopping down on the cushions. You made your way upstairs, but he called out to you.
"Where are you going?"
"To put my servant outfit on, of course." You joked.
His eye glimmered as his bottom lips caught between his teeth. "Really?"
"No?"
You scoffed as you went to put Hwan up, then you did actually go back downstairs after collecting yourself. Chan gave you an extremely sorry look as you walked by. Unfortunately, a lot of guests were like that - rude and unbecoming.
"Hey, um," Andrew started. "Lady."
"Learn my name before you ask me for something." You said, not turning to look at him.
"What's your name, then?"
"Sanghee-"
"Cool. Can you get me a drink."
You turned around and looked at the clock, pouting sarcastically. "Dang, I'm off the clock."
He sighed dramatically and turned to Jeongin. "Will you get me a drink, Jeongin?"
Jeongin was about to get up, but you gently pushed him back down and looked at Andrew. "You have legs. Use them."
"How would your employer feel about you treating me like this?" He asked as he stood up. "Would he fire you?"
"Why don't we have a little talk?"
"You can say it in front of everyone else." He smirked. "Unless you're too scared."
You smirked back and pushed his chest, pushing him back down onto the couch. You bent down to be eye level with him.
"Wipe that dirty smirk off your face." You whispered. "Just because I'm a servant to the people living in this house and visiting this house does not mean that I will put up with disrespect. The first thing you should've done when you walked through that door, was greet everyone politely. The second mistake you made was asking me to call you master. The third mistake you made was calling me lady. I have a name, and if you want something you're going to use it and you're going to ask nicely."
You leaned back up and walked into the kitchen. You made yourself a glass of water and smiled to everyone as you walked by.
"Goodnight, guys. Make sure the doors are locked before you go to bed."
The boys nodded and everyone looked at Andrew once you were out of sight. "Is she always like that?"
"No," Jeongin said. "Not at all."
Felix hummed. "Just don't get on her bad side, I guess."
A few weeks later, the boys were starting to notice a few things about you. You and your mom were extremely close. You loved your dog. You really had a knack for caring for others. You did not put up with any form of disrespect, not a single bit. They were kind of curious as to what made you so intimidating when someone disrespected you.
"Sanghee!"
You walked out of the kitchen and stood before Mr. Ong. "Yes sir?"
"I've heard chatter about you being mouthy to someone in this house?"
"No, sir-"
"Then why have I heard the sentence 'Wipe that dirty smirk off your face' and your name in the same sentence?" He questioned. "What did you do?"
"He was being extremely inappropriate-"
"But your job is to serve anyway." He started pushing you out of the kitchen and into the living room, where all of the boys were. "Next time you do something like that, you will be punished."
"Yes, Mr. Ong."
"For now, I want you to go help your mother in the garden."
You bowed your head in response and he left. You glanced at the boys as you left the living room, making them mildly confused.
"Did we do something?" Changbin asked.
"No, I actually thought we were all doing really good." Seungmin replied.
Later that night, you were in your room with Hwan, talking to her. You often did that, since you felt like she knew what you were feeling and had the perfect responses. At the moment, she had her head on top of yours as you spoke to her.
"He's being so strict," you whispered. "He's never like this."
Someone knocked on your door, but you didn't hear it. The person on the other side ended up peeking in anyways, but froze when they heard you talking.
"Did the boys really tell Mr. Ong that I was being 'mouthy'. That Andrew guy was being so rude." You moved your head and Hwan put her paws on her snout while making a whining noise. "Exactly."
Felix's jaw dropped and he gently shut your door, running back downstairs. "Guys! She thinks we told Mr. Ong that she was being mouthy to Andrew."
"What?! We never even told him about that." Chan said.
"Either way," Jisung started. "We should clear it up."
So they told Mr. Ong what actually happened - how disrespectful Andrew was being and that you properly put him in his place. Mr. Ong felt bad, and picked some flowers from the garden for you and put them in a vase. He knocked on your door and you tiredly opened it.
"I didn't take the time to actually ask what happened that night. I shouldn't have assumed and went off of what I heard. I apologize, Sanghee." He apologized.
You gave him a weak smile. "Thank you, but, that doesn't explain why I couldn't spend time with Nabi and Kiyoshi."
"Only because the boys were also having friends over, and I knew that it would get rambunctious with all those teenagers. Ms. Lee was exhausted from work and I wanted to make sure she got a proper sleep."
You weren't really buying it, but you nodded anyway. "Thank you for the flowers."
"If you want, you can invite them over."
Your face lit up. "Really?"
Mr. Ong nodded and you thanked him a few times before calling your best friends. It was a bit worrying, since they didn't know that the boys lived with you and that you were now their servant.
Once your friends got to the house, you skipped down the stairs and the boys watched you in curiosity. They heard the door open and then they saw a boy twirling you around and planting a kiss on your cheek. Felix felt an odd twist in his stomach, but for the most part, the rest of the boys just saw it as a good friendship.
"Wait." Nabi said as she looked between you and the boys. "Is this-"
"They live here!" You blurted, not knowing where she was going with that. "Their mom and Mr. Ong are together, so they live here now."
"And you're taking care of them?" Kiyoshi asked, and you nodded. "Are they being nice?"
"Super." You reassured. "Other than you guys, I can say they're some of my closest friends."
Upon hearing that, the boys felt accomplished. They wanted to be your friend, and they made it happen.
"Where's Hwan?" Kiyoshi asked.
You pointed up. "Upstairs. You can go get her."
He dashed upstairs and Nabi turned to you. "Wonshik has been talking with that big mouth of his."
"What do you mean?"
Everyone had stopped listening, since it was rude to eavesdrop, but Felix couldn't help but listen.
"He's talking about when you two dated, and I know that you guys never did anything, but he's saying that you were practically begging for it."
He saw your hurt expression and that made his chest hurt. Why would somebody make up a rumor like that? Just to get back at someone?
"I'll talk to him about it."
The next morning, the boys took notice as to how sleepy you looked. You didn't sleep. When you and Wonshik dated, you went through hell and back with him, but now that it was starting all over again, it sent you into a silent frenzy that you had to calm down on your own. Felix couldn't sleep much either, mainly because he was upset that someone would say something like that about you.
He jumped as you sneezed, just because it pulled him out of his thoughts. "Are you okay?"
You looked over at Felix and nodded. "Yeah, I'm just a little congested."
"Oh, you're fine." Mr. Ong spoke up as he walked into the kitchen. "It's probably just allergies."
Felix watched as you nodded solemnly.
"How come you're not at school yet, honey?" Ms. Lee asked.
"I overslept a little bit, so I'll just be riding with everyone." You told her.
That wasn't necessarily true - your body ached, so you told yourself that going to school a little later than usual would be fine. You got ready and got in the nice car with the boys. They could tell something was off. Your eyes were puffy, your nose was red, like you were sick, and you were clearly exhausted.
When you got to school, you quietly made your way inside. You could tell that it wouldn't be a very good day, and all you could do was wait for it all to come down at once. At lunch, Felix watched you closely, wanting to make sure you were okay - the boys followed suit.
You were very sluggish, and they were on high alert once Wonshik walked in. He made a bee line for your table. Kiyoshi did a good job of blocking you off, and so did Nabi, but Wonshik was bound and determined to get to you.
"Kyun Sanghee! Do I need to tell everyone how you got on your knees and-"
"And what?!" You cut him off. "Begged you to let me sleep with you? That never happened!"
Kiyoshi rubbed your back soothingly. "You don't have to do this here."
"What did I do to you, Wonshik? You act like we were bound to be together and that I just tore your little heart apart. You never liked me, I knew that from the day we made it official. You just wanted to sleep with me." Your voice was low, so that no one else would hear, but the tears were evident. "Why do you take everything out on others? Why can't you reflect on things yourself?"
He stared down at you, watching you finally unravel after all that time of being so tightly wound. Your head started pounding, and your stomach cramped up, but you tried to keep it in as you looked back up at your ex-boyfriend.
"You need to clear up that rumor, because that never happened. If anything, it was the complete opposite, but you don't see me telling people that, do you?"
He pursed his lips and rolled his eyes, like a pre-teen finally realizing that they're wrong. Wonshik walked away and then Felix could really tell how pale you'd gotten.
"Sanghee looks miserable." Hyunjin mumbled sadly. "How do we make her feel better?"
"We can be there for her." Chan said. "Maybe that's what she needs."
Later that night, Ms. Lee could see how unwell you looked and tried to take over by taking the plates out of your hand. You tried to refuse, but she gave you a stern look.
"Does your mom know you don't feel well?"
You shook your head and let her take the plates out of your hand. She sent you up to your room and told your mom shortly after, who rushed up to your room to check on you.
"Why didn't you tell me you were getting sick? I could've made you soup and taken care of you."
"I thought I could hold out, Mom." You told her. "I guess I couldn't."
She sighed. "You know that Mr. Ong isn't gonna let me take the night off, so I'll have the boys check on you, okay?"
You nodded slowly and she went back downstairs. When your mom told the boys what was wrong, Felix automatically volunteered to check on you. So he did after dinner. He went up to your room and put his ear up to your door - he thought he could hear crying. He knocked a few times and the crying stopped.
"Come in."
He opened your bedroom door and found you cuddling with Hwan. "How are you?"
"Good." You lied. "I think rest is just what I need."
He tilted his head, not believing it. He asked to sit on your bed with you, so you sat up to give him some room.
"So, I didn't hear crying a second ago?"
You froze and looked down at your lap, where Hwan was curled up and out like a light. You didn't want to lie to him. Part of friendship was being honest, so you looked up with teary eyes.
"It's getting really hard, Felix."
"What do you mean?"
"Everything. Being head servant, keeping up with my studies, Mr. Ong being super strict on me lately, Wonshik bringing up things from the past - it's just getting old." You told him. "I'm always taking care of other people, but I feel like no one's taking care of me."
You let out a quiet sob and he gently pulled you into his chest, he didn't care if you were sick. He just wanted to make you feel better. He patted your hair down and moved down to your back, where he rubbed gentle circles to soothe you.
"The guys and I, our mom, and especially your mom will always be here to take care of you. We're really grateful to have you, so we'll do everything we can to return your love and constant care." He whispered.
You sniffled and looked up, finding your face mere inches from his. You blushed and leaned back some more, taking in his freckles that were illuminated by the light of the moon.
"Thank you." You whispered.
He smiled and gently grabbed your hand, sending a blush to his own cheeks, but he didn't let go. "Just to prove it to you, sleep in tomorrow. It'll be Saturday, you're sick, and you deserve to be served on after so many years of doing it for others."
"No, no-"
"Yes, yes." He chuckled. "You have no say, Kyun Sanghee, you're being pampered tomorrow."
You smiled and gave in. "Fine, but only because you're stubborn and won't take no for an answer."
"Mrs. Kyun?" Chan popped his head into the laundry room cutely.
"Yes, dear?"
"What's Sanghee's favorite breakfast food?" Seungmin asked as he popped up next to his older brother.
Your mom smiled. "Her favorite is (favorite breakfast food)."
"Thank you!" The boys beamed.
Chan and Seungmin passed on the information while Changbin called Kiyoshi and Nabi. The boys wanted your best friends to pamper you as well. Soon, everyone was in the kitchen, dancing around while they made your favorite things, wearing floury aprons, and nearly having a food fight, while you and Hwan were sound asleep upstairs.
When it was ready, all ten of them headed upstairs. Felix knocked and opened the door after hearing a disgruntled noise of some sort.
"Wake up, sleepy head." Felix chirped. "We have your favorite food."
You pulled the covers down from your face and made grabby hands. "Do you really?"
"Yes, we really." Felix laughed as he handed you the tray of freshly made food.
Your eyes were gleaming. "Wow, you guys did this for me?"
Everyone nodded proudly, then Hyunjin remembered something and quickly ran downstairs to grab it. He had a big smile on his face when he came back. He bent down next to your bed and patted the bed in front of him so that Hwan would walk up to him.
"These are oat pancakes. I make them for Kkami all the time." Hyunjin smiled. "Is it okay with you if Hwan has one?"
"Yeah, she deserves it." You told him.
Hwan wagged her tail and ran a few circles, then started working on her cute little oat pancake.
You took a bite of your food as well and smiled happily. "Thank you guys for taking the time to do this. I really appreciate it."
"Anytime." Felix replied, making a cute face at you.
You wondered for a moment. "What are you guys gonna eat?"
"Probably cereal, because that kitchen is a mess." Jisung stated.
"I'm good with cereal." Chan hummed.
"I feel like I can't express how grateful I am for this. I know it might not seem like a big deal to other people, but this is really nice." You said again.
"It was a lot of fun." Nabi said. "And you deserve it."
You smiled once more as everyone made their way back downstairs, except for Felix, who lingered in your room so that he could sit with you.
"The other night, I kind of eavesdropped." He winced at his words as you indifferently took a bite of your food. "I heard what Nabi told you about Wonshik and how he started that rumor."
You giggled. "If you think I'm mad that you eavesdropped, I'm not. Plus, everyone found out in the cafeteria anyway."
"But when Nabi told you that, I got so mad. It made my chest hurt knowing that he made up a rumor about you for no reason. Not that people should make up rumors in general, but you get what I mean." He sighed. "When he started walking up to your table at lunch, I just wanted to protect you, you know? Keep him from saying anything hurtful because you don't deserve that."
You looked at him, observing his genuinely upset expression. You found it really nice that he cared so much, so you grabbed his wrist and pulled him into a hug. Since you were sitting and he was standing, your head rested on his stomach, but he didn't seem to mind. He held your head there for a moment, then ruffled your hair.
You looked up at him and pursed your lips. "I'm glad to have someone like you watching out for me, Felix."
You heard commotion near your door and suddenly, it burst open. Kiyoshi and Jisung fell to the floor, while everyone else stumbled around. Chan chuckled nervously and Jeongin had flushed cheeks.
"We just, you know, wanted to see what was going on." Chan muttered.
You and Felix looked at each other, then at everyone in the doorway. "Eavesdropping at its finest?" You asked.
Chan nodded and looked down. "Yeah, that's exactly what it was."
You laughed and finally realized that you were holding Felix's hand. Nabi tried not to point it out, but she couldn't help it. Everyone 'oohed' and scrambled out of your room like children who had just seen their parents holding hands.
You quickly let go of Felix's hand and your cheeks got hot. "Sorry."
He reached back down and grabbed it again. "Don't be. You can hold my hand whenever you want."
