#9_Opening the satchel
Sophie decided it was time to see what else Shadowflame had put in the satchel. The first thing she found was the packet of chocolate chip cookies, that was followed by a small folded sheet of cobalt blue colored satin which contained three Swiss Army knives, it was the same cloth that covered the Moonlark dress. The dress was even in the bag! There was also five full scrapbooks with hundreds of pictures in them and . . . Clarity. There was an envelope tied to the stuff bear. In it was a note, it said:
Dearest Sophie, my sister, I have always had a feeling a day like this would come. I do not know why or how, but I knew it would, so I wrote this just in case. I didn't want you to just leave without a piece of me with you. Since you are reading this, I guess I was right. Remember, you are my best friend, no one, and nothing could ever replace you. You took me in when I had no one and nowhere to go to, you understood me like nobody else did. You were there for me no matter what. You are the bravest, kindest and most loyal person I have ever known. I can't thank you enough for everything you have done for me. Despite that we may never see each other again, I will remember you forever, to whatever end. Take care of Clarity for me, I have a feeling you may need her more than I do. Please, stay safe and do not let that light go out. Until next time my Moonlark.
With love from your friend and little sister
Shadowflame Galaxy Lang Foster
Tears welled in her eyes as she put the last remnants of her human life away. She curled up on her bed with Ella and Clarity and let herself have a good one last cry. When her eyes finally dried, she promised herself she wouldn't look back anymore. Grady and Edaline weren't like her parents, and Havenfield wasn't like her old home- but maybe that was better. Maybe it was easier if they were different. And maybe, with time, it would really feel like a home.
