It had only been a week since the trial and Shadowflame was already fluent with the Enlightened Language. She was even able to befriend almost all the animals at Heaven Field. With the exception of Verdi, the tyrannosaurus rex. "Haw! Haw I say!" Shadowflame roared, tugging on the rope tied around the Verdi's neck, trying to direct the T-rex back to it's pen. Grady had told her to stay back, but once again, she didn't listen and ran head first towards the problem. Dropping her stuff onto the ground. Save for a coil of rope she drew from her bag and the clothes on her back.
Grady was shouting instructions like "tie the rope around your wrist" and "squeeze your legs". While Sophie, Edaline, Sandor, the gnomes and the animals were watching from afar like it was their favorite show.
"You go Verdi!" Sophie hollered.
"Moonlark you traitor!" Shadowflame yelled, trying not to get thrown off the dinosaur's back. Sophie just laughed. She knew Shadowflame would just shrug it off once she got her revenge by pranking her. Which, come to think of it, she would be quite afraid of if she wasn't her sister. Even Sandor didn't mind Shadowflame's pranks, he trusted Shadowflame to not hurt Sophie. After all, the brunette's pranking motto was "confuse, don't abuse."
"Come on Flame! We have to meet up with the others in fifteen minutes!" Sophie reminded.
Shadowflame growled. "Oh that is it!" She threw all her strength and weight to the side, causing the T-rex to stumble in the same direction. Which was the direction of her pen. Shadowflame repeated this over and over again until they were finally inside it and swung herself off the feathery dinosaur, bringing the T-rex down with her. During the time Verdi took to right herself, Shadowflame sped to the door of the pen and slammed it shut. "I reign victorious!" She cheered.
Sophie rolled her eyes at her little sister's antics. "You may want to clean up, Flame." She gestured to the feather cover girl.
Shadowflame nodded and dashes to the house.
A few minutes later, she joined Sophie at the Leap Master after retrieving her belongings from where she had dropped them. Her hair still a little damp from her shower.
Time skip
"Let me get this straight, the Ancients engineered for Atlantis to sink so that humans would think that elves disappeared." Shadowflame said as she followed the others to a ledge high above the water.
"Yeah," Sophie said, rolling her eyes "no shit Sherlock." They had specifically told her that and she just repeated it like they went all nerd language and she was simplifying it.
"Fuck you Watson," Shadowflame smirked when Sophie muttered out a stream of curses. They were on a patch of dark rocks surrounded by white-capped waves. The only signs of life were a few seagulls, and all they did was screech and poop.
Fitz opened a secret compartment in the side of a strange rock, revealing hundreds of tiny glass bottles, grabbed one, and joined them on the ledge. "Step back." He uncorked the top and flung the bottle into the ocean. A huge blast of wind whipped against their faces, and the roar of churning water filled the air
"Now we jump," Biana shouted, pointing to the edge.
Sophie nudged Dex, "Wait for it..."
"Me first!" Shadowflame hollered, jumping into the whirlpool.
Keefe burst out laughing. "I love this girl!" He guffawed, jumping in next. Sophie just giggled before following them. She is so shipping it and Flame was going to be so pissed if she found out. Soon, she was finally launched out of the vortex and onto an enormous sponge. Then the sponge sprang back, leaving her standing on a giant cushion. She quickly jumped off onto the slightly squishy ground that felt like packed wet sand. A second later and she would have been crushed by Sandor, who was followed by Dex, then Biana, then Fitz.
Shadowflame let out a low whistle as she followed them into the city and took pictures. "Impressive," she said.
"Any specific places you want to go Galaxy?" Biana asked, "I know a place with the best dresses."
Shadowflame licked here lips as she thought. "Are there any fabric shops? Or libraries...?"
Keefe groaned. "A library, seriously? How are we even friends?" But they all just ignored him.
"I know a shop with the best fabrics and threads!" Biana gushed, "Come on!"
They reached the main canal and Keefe hailed one of the carriages floating along the water – a sliver, almond shaped boat with two rows of high-backed benches. A diver in an elbow length green cape steered from the front bench, drawing the reins of an eurypterid. Biana and Sophie moved away from the scorpion like creature while the others leaned down to stroke the shiny brown shell along the eurypterid's back. The creature emitted a low hissing sound, like it enjoyed being petted. "Aww," Shadowflame cooed. Biana shot Sophie a questioning look but the blonde just shrugged. Expecting it to happen didn't mean she understood why Shadowflame did it.
They all climbed onto the carriage. "To Stitches." Biana told the driver, and they were off.
Stitches, apparently, was a gigantic crystal building that curved and and folded to look like a peice of cloth. The reflective windows were swirling patterns that made it look like turquoise embroidery against white-sliver silk, the word 'Stitches' hidden amongst the swirls. Needless to say, Shadowflame gapped, took a picture with her polaroid camera, and rushed right in. They walked in, in time to hear Shadowflame say "Hot damn! Call the police and the fireman!"
The shelves reached the ceilings that were at least twenty feet away from the ground. Materials were practically spilling out of the shelves, there were even rolling ladders. Sophie could see why her little sister would be attracted by this place so quickly. Different types of fabrics were arranged accordingly into their respective shelves but looked like they were just chucked there. Threads, sequins, wires and other stuff like that were placed according to color. Sketch books of varying sizes and colors had a thin layer of dust coating them and so did the stationeries of different useage. It was a mix of chaos and balance. Just like Shadowflame.
"What are you waiting for Flame? Go on, shop your heart out." Sophie said, gesturing to the shelves. She chuckled when Shadowflame shrieked and dashed towards them, zipping from one shelf to another. Feeling the fabrics, examining the way the crystals glimmer when the light hit them, testing the durability of the threads.
She felt that it was adorable how her little sister always acted cool and badassed, but squealed like a little girl whenever she was seeing or doing something she loves. She walked back to the door. "Come on guys," she beckoned for the others to follow her "lets go to places we want to go. I have a feeling that Shadowflame won't even notice that we are gone until she stops."
They went to multiple clothes, makeup and jewelry stores for Biana. Keefe and Fitz dragged them to a shop filled to the brim with prank supplies. Dex took them to different stores to look at gadgets. And Sophie took them to the shop where she bought the tiny purple Albertosaurus for Fitz. It was close to dinner time when Sophie said that they should go back for Shadowflame.
They had just walked up to the gigantic door of Stitches when Shadowflame stepped out. "Well, that took longer than expected." Sandor's high squeaky voice broke the silence.
"And Shadow sure bought alot more than expected." Dex agreed, looking at the girl who somehow managed to stuff fifty, big, full bags into her satchel. Even Sophie had gawked, and she was used to it.
"You guys must seriously underestimate Flamester." Sophie said. "Come on. It's about time we head home."
Fitz hailed another sea scorpion carriage. Shadowflame drew some designs while the others talked as the evil-looking creature pulled them through the canals. They would try to peek at what Shadowflame was drawing sometimes but she would swat them away without even looking up from her book. It started when Sophie repeatedly tried to peek over her little sister's shoulder but kept getting swatted off. Keefe soon joined, followed by Dex, Biana and Fitz. Even Sandor tried once.
It finally got to the point that Keefe starts scheming and creating 'battle plans' with Sophie and Fitz transmitting them to others but she always somehow escapes. Things would have escalated to much more physical if they hadn't reached their destination.
They'd reached a small blue lagoon so far outside the city that the silver spires were nothing more than a tiny glint in the distance. Shimmery white dunes surrounded the small lake, and on the west shore stood a strange black statue – a narrow round base, which rose at least two stories high, topped with a wide hollow circle. An iridescent film shimmered across the center of the loop, making the apparatus resemble a giant bubble wand. "Aw c'mon Flamester! You always show me your designs," Sophie whined. Shadowflame just stuck her tongue out at the blonde playfully, earning herself a frustrated groan from Sophie.
They all joined hands and their feet lifted off the ground. They passed through the loop and the iridescent film stretched, forming a giant bubble around them. Shadowflame touched the side of the bubble but a low rumble coming from beneath them demand her attention. She glanced down just in time to see a giant geyser shoot up from the lagoon, and it launched their bubble out of Atlantis.
