KOTLC Reacts To Neopronouns
Hahaha I only made this chapter mainly as an announcement for myself. Also, I'm teaching elves gender because why not
Me: Hey! I'm back! *wakes Keefe up*
Keefe: Still haven't read Unlocked?
Me: Nope! Still hoping it gets in my library. Trying not to pirate the book.
Sophie: Good luck.
Me: Thanks.
Tam: What's today's topic? More ships? A book?
Me: Nah. Today's topic is purely self-indulgent. We're gonna talk about neopronouns.
Sophie: So pronouns and gender, huh. Much more serious topic. An announcement, I guess?
Me: Yeah.
Fitz: Uh... I think I heard of them? Like instead of saying "she" you'd use something else?
Me: Yep!
Linh: There's other pronouns? I mean, I know there's "they", but there's others?
Me: I mean other cultures in general use different use different pronouns so that shouldn't be too surprising?
Biana: If this is an announcement, does that mean that your pronouns are changing?
Me: Yeah pretty much. Y'all should still use she/her, but I'm using a second set now. I now go by ve/ver/ver/vers/verself
Dex: So like... Ravi just told us about ver new pronouns that she's using? Like that?
Me: Basically, yeah. Ooh, that sounded nice.
Fitz: Do your pronouns represent a gender or something? Sorry if that's rude or something, I'm just trying to understand.
Me: Nah, it's fine. I told some of my friends and one of them had a similar question. And here's the thing, pronouns don't equal gender
Marella: So like, there are girls that go by he/him?
Me: Yeah! That's exactly it! It's just using the pronouns that suit you best. A lot of these neopronouns don't exactly have a gender, they're a lot more neutral. I still identify as a girl, but who knows, that might change (tbh trying to figure out if I'm a demi-girl, but the pronouns are just one step closer to figuring myself out).
Linh: What other neopronouns exist?
Me: *laughs* Oh, believe me, there's a lot. You have xe/xem, ce/cer, fae/faer, ey/em, ro/rose, and so many more. It all depends on what the person is looking for
Keefe: Woah, there are a lot. I guess you can't name them all, can you?
Me: Definitely not!
Linh: You know, ve/ver sounds really cool actually!
Me: Yeah, it does. Y'all can feel free to test out pronouns for yourself. After all, you might find euphoria from a pronoun, even if you still vibe with your pronouns now
Tam: Wait. Does the kotlc fandom have a lot of headcanons for our pronouns?
Me: Tumblr does, at least. And a lot of them!
Keefe: Ooh, share your favourites!
Me: I'm taking that as an invitation to ramble. Okay, my personal headcanons, with inspiration from the fandom. She/they Sophie. He/him Fitz, but I like to hc him as a trans guy. Keefe, its just everywhere. Sometimes it's he/they, or xe/xem. Dex I don't have yet, but it'd be he/something.
Ae/aer Biana, he/they Tam, she/ve Linh (linh I just used you to project myself on tbh, but I just feel like it works). Uh... idk about Marella yet that's a thought for later.
Biana: Oh wow
Dex: You don't hc any of us as cis, do you?
Me: *laughs* Nope! I don't hc any of yall as straight either. I know cishet people exist, but also I'm too queer for this
Everyone else: *laughs*
Me: So yeah. Audience, if y'all refer to me in a comment or something, here's your reminder that I go by she/ve, and that I hope I don't see exclusively she/her pronouns. Anyways, guess I'll get going now. Bye!
