"Have I told you how beautiful you look tonight?" Sophitz

@Sophitzforlife requested a Sophitz one like this, so I hope you enjoy! As always, feel free to comment or PM me requests! :D

Next week on Friday I'll be updating the first chapter of Moonlark's Love. Also, next week from Monday to Friday I'll be updating a oneshot everyday, in addition to what I'd usually post on that day (well, on Monday I won't post a oneshot in addition to a oneshot, but on Wednesday and Friday I'll do both).

Anyway, here's the oneshot! I tried to make this one a little longer!

"There."

Biana clasped a necklace around Sophie's neck, stepping back to admire her work. She and Edaline had helped Sophie get ready for her twenty-first birthday party. Elves didn't usually celebrate birthdays, but Fitz had planned something special for her, because he knew that this was a special birthday for humans. He had asked Biana for help, but she wouldn't tell Sophie anything. It was very annoying.

"You look beautiful, dear," Edaline murmured, smoothing over her daughter's hair.

"Perfect for what Fitz has planned," Biana said, giggling. Even though she couldn't tell Sophie anything, she loved teasing her about how she knew. She and Sandor shared a knowing look.

Sophie turned to Sandor in disbelief. "You too?"

"He asked me if he could have you alone for the night. I agreed," Sandor explained in his squeaky voice.

"Fitz is lucky. We all know of it had been me Gigantor wouldn't have agreed," came a voice from the doorway.

"Keefe! Hi!"

Sophie ran over to the doorway, almost tackling Keefe with a hug. Keefe leaned back, looking her up and down. "Wow, Foster. You look nice."

Sophie blushed. "Thanks."

"So," she said, changing the subject. Even after all her years in the Lost Cities, she was still self-conscious. "What are you doing here?"

"Just came to say hi before the big night," he responded, wiggling his eyebrows.

Sophie sighed. "Do you know too?"

"Yup. Pretty much everyone knows. Fitz told almost everyone. He needed a lot of help setting this up."

"Really?" Sophie asked, raising an eyebrow and taking a step closer to Keefe.

"Nope," Keefe said, putting his hands up. "I'm not gonna be the one to mess this up."

"Ugh. Fine."

Soon Fitz came to pick her up, and he took her to dinner in Atlantis, to the restaurant they went to on their first date. Afterwards, they watched the sunset through the dome above the city before Fitz leaped her back to Havenfield. He led her to Calla's Panakes tree.

Sophie gasped. "Whoa."

Every blossom had a tiny glowing flower in the center, and glowing vines draped over the branches and reached down almost to the ground, creating a space underneath encased in soft, pinkish light. When Fitz led her inside, she saw that the trunk was spotted with small purplish blossoms that produced a beautiful effect like rose-colored starlight.

Fitz day down, pulling her down next to him. He took her hands in his. "Have I told you how beautiful you look tonight?"

Sophie blushed redder than her dress. Biana had chosen an elegant dress of a deep red color. The fabric floated around her, making her feel like one of the fairies in the storybooks she read as a child. The skirt was dusted with gold that complemented her eyes, and her hair was pinned up in a loose braid, with strands framing her face. The necklace Biana had clasped around her neck was a simple gold loop.

"Yes, I think you might have mentioned it once or twice," Sophie joked.

"Well, it's true." Suddenly Fitz seemed nervous, letting go of Sophie's hands and twisting his fingers. "Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure."

He paused, as if gathering his thoughts. Or his courage. "Do you want to be Vacker?"

He must've mistaken her silence for uncertainty, because he immediately added, "You don't have to change your last name of you don't want to. All I'm trying to say is, will you . . ."

He looked her in the eye in that way that made her heart flutter. "Marry me?"

She smiled at him. Now everything made sense. The secrecy, planning, gorgeous glowing flowers, his nerves. He just wanted it to be perfect. To know that he was still a little nervous around her, still trying hard to impress her, just as much as she was, made her absolutely certain in her answer.

"Of course."
