***Milo's POV***
The story of the lovers had filled my night in equal parts nightmares and dreams. The images of the two struggling to reach safety reminded me so much of the many obstacles my Batman and I had faced, overcome. His protection was my saving grace. His love will always be my safety.
Stretching out my hands, I reach for my love. Only then realizing he would not be beside me. We had separated last night for the traditional bullshit of not seeing one another before the wedding.
That tradition is abhorrent and unnecessary. It makes me angry thinking of how we decided it was a good idea. We are idiots.
A soft knock pulls me from my turmoil. I stand and open the door with a grimace. Natalie looks like an angel though, her hands wrapped around two cups of coffee.
"Something for the groom." Natalie steps on her tip toes while pushing the coffee mug to my hands. She places a soft kiss on my cheek.
"Thank you." I step away and allow her entrance.
"We don't have much to do. Just hang out until the time comes. You have low key made my job non existent." Natalie giggles when I send her a glare.
She made her job non existent by doing everything so thoroughly before we even boarded the plane.
"Well since we will be so bored, climb up. We can Netflix and chill for a bit." I sit down on the edge of the bed and turn the television on. I pass the remote to Nat to make the selection.
A few minutes later, Ky and Max join us. I smile and scoot over so the four of us can relax while waiting for the time when we actually need to get ready.
Why we chose a Dexter marathon is beyond me. Now I wish we could at least finish the season. We're morons.
"Come on. Let's get you ready to be Mr. Neko Evans." Ky grips one hand while Max pulls on the other.
The reminder makes me chuckle. We have the same last name.
"It's funny." Natalie laughs knowingly.
"What is my role in all this?" I groan while Natalie messes with my hair.
"Not to whine, smile and kiss the groom." Nat smacks me with the comb when I pull away from her plucking fingers.
"It's my big day. Why am I being subjected to abuse?" I whine. Because she said not to, that's why I do.
"Bean, sit still we don't have much time." Natalie runs her fingertips through my curls and kisses my forehead. A satisfied grin settles on her face.
"Presentable?" I ask irritatedly.
"Sexy." Ky winks and I laugh.
God I have the best friends.
"Just follow behind us. Just like we practiced. Before you know it, you're married and we are eating cake." Max high fives me.
Mmmm. Cake.
In no time we are dressed and ready. I silently thank myself for choosing white button ups that are rolled at the sleeves. We only had to slip on our dark Khaki cargo shorts.
Low Key. That's all I wanted.
"One thing changed. Sorry." Natalie pulls out a bag and walks to each of us guys. My eyes light up when the soft pink button ups are pushed into our hands.
We quickly change shirts. My mood lifts considerably.
"You're the fucking best." I yell over my shoulder while changing into my favorite color.
"I know. You're welcome." Natalie yells from the bathroom. She's finishing up whatever she is doing.
"Ten minutes." Max paces the room, watching the clock on his phone.
"I only need three." Natalie opens the door looking like a fairytale. I just stand in awe of her natural beauty. She's stunning.
She wears a soft floral summer dress that matches our outfits perfectly. Her feet have some weird jewel contraption that looks like sandals on top, but her feet are bare.
She wears a gorgeous pink hibiscus behind her ear. Her hair is in beach waves. She looks perfect.
"A true beauty." I whisper. I reach for her hand, placing a soft kiss on the back of it.
"You ready?" Nat blushes and nods her head.
We take the walk down the hall and through the back glass doors of the house. We are having the wedding about a half mile down the beach. We walk slowly through the warm sand.
"A few more minutes and you will be a married man." Max looks at me from the corner of his eyes. His head turns in my direction. He offers me a grin and throws his arm over my shoulder.
"I can't believe everything came to this." I whisper the words in adoration. Life sure does give back ten fold when it strips you bare.
"Maybe it could have come to this regardless. But, I bet you wouldn't change it if you could." Ky walks backward, smiling like the sunshine he is.
"Everything means nothing without Neko. I would have gone through it twice to lead me to him." I stare at the setting sun while thinking how true my words are.
The ceremony comes in full view when we are a few hundred feet from our destination. The nerves aren't there. For whatever reason, my heart has always known the place I am stepping into. I don't feel any sign of anxiety. Anticipation is my key emotion.
I follow Natalie down the trail, leading to the aisle. She did amazing.
A gorgeous palm frond altar stands above the place where my new journey begins. Orchids drip from the hood. There are way more chairs than I originally thought. The sides of each row are tassled in sprawling tropical flowers. A bed of coral petals marks my aisle.
I step beside Natalie with Ky in front, Max in the middle. I close my eyes and wait. Our cue being when the music begins.
What music? Who knows. Natalie took everything out of my hands. I think that's my favorite part of the planning,. I didn't do any of it.
A serene symphony of instruments fills the air and suddenly they move. The crowd stands and I wait for ample space to my move my feet.
In no time, I'm taking the walk. My eyes bounce around the audience, capturing the smiles and grins. Some I just met, others I have known my whole life.
I have no regrets for the two missing heartbeats that are kept in Washington. Monsters that are locked behind bars, having stolen from me so much. Yet, given me even more.
I silently whisper a prayer for peace over my husband to be. His parents are missing, mine never existed.
Ky falls to the left. Max follows behind. With my arm safely tucked in Natalie's, I place her to my right before standing in front of the most devastatingly beautiful man to exist.
Neko is the picture of serenity. His eyes sparkle as he reaches his hand out for me. The moment our fingers touch, I grip them and smile.
The ceremony is over as quickly as it began, few words spoken. We have said every vow and made every promise a thousand times over. Words whispered in desperate dark moments, claims made again and again.
When the rings are placed, we smile and wait for the officiant to give us the go.
Neko places his hand tenderly across my jaw and pulls me under. The sounds of waves crashing behind us, set the pace. Slowly his lips take mine and he delivers a sweet seal on our promise to love one another for the rest of this life, into the next.
My body yearns to bring him closer, to have every ounce of the man that took me from my darkness and brought me joy beyond every measure. I withhold. There is a time and place for everything, this one is just a prelude to eternity.
When our lips part, I hum. The comfort of knowing he is mine is just enough. I slide my hand into his palm. He kisses it gently before laying one on my forehead.
It's perfect. It's us. The love that transfers from his lips is all that I need. His silent vow to keep me in all my moments and deliver me bliss beyond my wildest dreams is exactly my dream.
The crowd stands once again, clapping. Lux whistles and we walk back down the path I just had travelled. At the end of the aisle, Neko turns me and crashes his lips on me.
This kiss is a different promise. It's a scorching delivery of the lust he feels for me in his bones. My blood roars as his tongue delves in and he takes every ounce of love I have to give. His hands wander, pulling at my back like long lost lovers who have just been reunited.
Everything blazes with heat and need. Neko smirks as he picks me up and I wrap myself around him. I nuzzle my face into his shoulder. He walks off towards the reception area.
"Always my Koala." Neko squeezes my back with his hand. His heart beats against my chest.
"Forever my Batman." I place a kiss on the hollow of his throat. Pulling back, I stare in adoration.
"I'm so fucking happy." I lean forward and kiss my husband's lips.
"Me too Baby. You are my happiness." Neko sets me down and we walk on to the parquet dance floor.
"Everyone make noise for our Grooms. I present to you Milo and Neko Evans." The DJ announces loudly and spins a record. The crowd around us goes nuts and starts passing us around for congratulations.
As the noise trickles off into a low hum, the song changes and Neko grabs my hand. He places a kiss on the back side and bows before me. I giggle. He's such a prince.
I walk slowly into his open arms and he spins me gently. When he pulls me back into him, I slide my arm around his waist and lay my head on his shoulder.
We sway side to side. His lips find my neck and he lands a deep lasting kiss upon my flesh. I try not shiver, and fail.
I feel his lips pull into a smile from my reaction.
Releasing my hand, he pulls me closer and folds over me like a welcomed blanket. His hands grip my waist as he holds me against his body.
I find his neck line and thread my fingers into his hair. My other hand plays with the collar of his shirt.
Nothing exists outside of our bodies, molded together in the soft lull of lyrics. The words are reminders that this is love, our love.
My lips touch his softly, bringing a hum of satisfaction from my husband.
Our eyes lock and I just let every emotion fall from me into him. He's absolute perfection, his existence is my personal blessing.
I don't recall the song ending. When Neko opens his mouth over my own, I pull him so close. We practically merge into one being. His every tangle of our tongues brings me higher up on my toes. I pull with my hands and stretch to meet his perfect kiss.
Nothing compares to the taste of his love dancing through me. My fingers grip his collar tighter, the others practically weld him to my mouth. I just drink him in until I lose my air supply. I can't stop. I don't want to.
A clearing of a throat breaks our trance. I suck his lip before sheepishly hiding into his neck. Neko chuckles and kisses my forehead.
"I love you sweet man. To the ends of the universe, I will follow you." His words have me nodding against his flesh.
"I love you. Forever your husband. Forever yours." I kiss his skin and pry my hands from his form. I make way to change partners as others break up our intimate moment and join us on the floor.
"You two would have never stopped if we didn't do something." Natalie whispers in my ear while spinning me to grab her waist and sway with her.
"I can't think of any place I would rather be than tangled up with him." I smile when she nods.
"That's why were here." She hugs me and we move along to the music.
