I arrived at school with kelechi.we immediately alighted from the uber. But he still had the uber driver waiting for him.he hung my bag at his shoulder making me look at him.abit confused

" oga ooh..are you aware you're money is what is wasting there ? "I asked him to be sure he knew what he was doing

" you're very ungrateful. So as I decided to help you carry your bag, and this is the first thank you you'll tell me abi ?" He replied and I smile cheekily

My bags were heavy with my school books.thanks to the fact that he actually helped

" no now..it's not like that.but I wonder if you would help me carry it to my class ?" I asked putting up a sweet smile. He immediately flickered his eyes at me, while biting his lower lips

" shey you're mad ni? " he asked and I chuckled

" joor give me my bag.no one wants your help " I said snatching the heavy bag from him. It weighed my hands a little making me stagger backwards while the amazing brother I had standing beside me laughed so heartily

" when they tell you to eat food and get strength you'll be behaving like one lizard " he mocked and I scowl at him

" yen yen yen. start going abeg " I said stylishly pushing him away.just then I heard a loud voice enough to struck me deaf call my name

" MEERA!!!! " I spurn around to see sandwich. A.k.a Annette running up to me to engulf me in a bear hug

" sandwich..." I purred as I hugged her back " how are you ?" I asked and she smiled happily

" I'm fine ooh..what of you nah..I thought you weren't going to come to school today.sleepy head " she said all at once as she used her index finger to push my forehead at the last part of her sentence.

I smiled breaking into fits of laughter " you won't even understand what happened this morning gosh.... " I said starting to gist her when her eyes trailed behind me.

Her expression quickly went from suprised to excitement and suddenly to a shy one

" gosh.meera.you didn't even tell me you got a boyfriend this holiday" she said with delight. My face morphed into one of confusion

" which boyfriend? "

" the guy behind you nah..introduce me joor " she said nudging me and giggling shyly. I snapped my head back to see the guy.only to behold the smirking flirtatious look on my brother's face

" wait...is it this guy?" I asked Annette abit taken back

" you know na.why are you still asking is it because he's fine that's why you aren't keen on introducing me.." she said eyeing me.

I laughed "Annette abi you're looking for introduction. Okay ooh.." I said pulling her closer to kelechi

" kelechi meet Annette a.k.a my sandwich and best friend and Annette meet kelechi my brother with the award of best annoying being" I said and Annette's expression quickly went pale.

I bit my lips.trying hard not to laugh as she stuttered a nice to meet you reply .it wasn't her fault that she just met my brother though.kelechi was hardly around so whenever they came.they either showed up when he was gone or when he wasn't even around.

Some students passed by into the school. Giving kelechi and I a suspicious look.I knew that look.it was a gossip look .I glared at kelechi

" oya start going..you've successfully managed to cause chaos in some people's head " I said

" you forgot your remaining money with me sha.."

" you didn't tell me you had my remaining money "

" but I did have it...the one mummy gave you" he said handing me #400 notes again.I snatched it from him with a glare

" how I'm sure you still don't have my money with you ?" I ask suspiciously

" cause that is all that is left " he replied rolling his eyes at me

" MEERA!!!!" another voice squealed out my name and a dark skinned girl with beautiful curly hair came running towards me

" nawa ooh..you have fans sha.." kelechi muttered beside me and I scoffed

" she's my bestie. You just didn't know" I replied and he shrugged giving me a goodbye peck on my cheeks

" Bye.take care "

" are you picking me from school too?"

" don't you know your way to the house ?" He snapped back a reply as he got into the uber and I stuck my lower lips out in a cute way behind him

" I was just asking haba you don't even know what a rhetoric question is" I muttered

" oh my gosh Meera" the girl squealed engulfing me into another round of bear hug

" Sophie I missed you "I said hugging her back and she smiled

" me too" she replied scanning around the environment

" where is Annette? " she asked. I looked around. I didn't even notice when she had sneaked away. I scanned the place a little more hoping she wasn't far away. My eyes landed on a figure

Annette was talking to someone. She seemed to be enjoying her conversation with the person

" oh there she is " I pointed at her and soon Sophie and I were busy making our way to where she stood.

" Annette baby..our sandwich " Sophie called her as she squeezed her in a hug making Annette laugh.we were the only ones that called her sandwich in school

by now the person she was talking to was gone

" see how you girls look so grown and you meera.what were you eating at home ?" Sophie asked observing my self.I suddenly felt self conscious

" what? Do I look fat or slim?" I asked

" you're looking so dope..can't you see everyone is staring at you..you're uniforms just fits rightly..ehn see your curves busy slaying in this uniform even your face is glowing " Sophie said gushing and I smiled at her

" get away joor.don't over hype me abeg " I said trying to wave off the comment

" see you and Annette nah..shining this new session " I said laughing and Annette chuckled

" it's just not gonna be easy for the guys " she replied in a fake British accent while I laughed

" mad ooh "

" abeg let's enter school. I don't have strength to face any teacher today it's still early " Sophie said.

We were prefects. And thanks to the clock. All that chit chat and yet the time was still 7: 30am. It was almost time for assembly and prefects had to mount their post and wait for late students to waltz in.

Sophie was the school's sanitary prefect while Annette was the chapel prefect and I the social prefects. Anyway we had to mount our post and like I said. Wait for latecomers.

Soon assembly started in earnest. Mr Adeola, the agriculture teacher had dismissed us from waiting for the late comers.he said he was going to catch them himself and afterwards, hand them to us.not after he had dealt with them first

School bands struck with enthusiasm and students sang the national anthem.and later on said the pledge. I took a brief glance around.the students of Berley international high were all looking so different. Some people had worn a different coloured of socks in contrast to the school white socks, while some of the girls wore dangling earrings and fancy bracelet.

They looked beautiful. The girls with their new hairstyles and the guys with their dope haircut. A chubby man mounted the podium with a huge smile stretched on his lips

" good morning students" he greeted and students replied in unison, excitedly

" how was your holiday? "

" fine"

" awesome "

" totally boring "came the different replies from the students

" Everyone keep quiet!!!" Mr Adeola barked.

I don't even know what is wrong with that one this morning.

Students nevertheless, had kept quiet to listen to principal jordan

" okay students, we are so very happy to have you back.and we thank God that non of you died during the holidays. We thank God that you all are safe and sound...." the principal started his welcome back speech.

Everyone had their attention glued to him as he spoke. I glanced at Annette and Sophie, the both girls were listening to him with rapt attention.

I shrugged, what was there to listen to anyway? We was still going on and on about how glad he is to see us in school

As if

My eyes wandered around once more and I smiled widely when my gaze landed on a particular figure. He was every girl's dream guy.tall, smart, athletic and dangerously handsome.

He was even the headboy. A popular guy in school and every teachers favourite.he was smiling at something principal jordan said, and only watching him smile made my heart to melt.

Gosh! Adam..my crush from afar.he was just so handsome.you wouldn't even help falling for those beautiful smiles which he flashed at girls.

But not me anyway. He hardly ever noticed me and never even said a 'hi' to me.maybe it was because he had girls frolicking around him so he was too busy to notice me.

But that's okay..I'm think I'm good crushing from afar a part of my subconscious said

You think ? Another replied and if I didn't know better. I'd say it was sneering at me.

I huffed tearing my gaze of Adam reluctantly only to be met with another beautiful eyes staring at me in mischief.

Did I just say beautiful?

Maybe

I glared at the eyes as he waved his index finger at me.he was smirking and mouthing something that I couldn't comprehend.

I rolled my eyes and gave him the middle finger and that made him wink at me..I was going to retort when a small pinch jolted me back.

It was Annette.she used her index finger to put my head to the front of the principal still giving his speech

" listen " she said eyeing me slowly while I glared playfully at her

" ....and so, the ss3 students should take their time to study hard in preparation for their final year exams.as this is the most important year in Berley international high...prefects, also submit your new session Agenda to your head boy so that way we could be more organized. Thank you all for listening and welcome back to school " he concluded

Finally

Students gave him a round of applause before futher announcements were made by Clara, the head girl.she was warning the students to quit their flashy bracelet and stuffs as that won't be tolerated the next day.

Soon, we were all matching to class while prefects still had mr Ayodele's victims at our mercy

" senior Meera, welcome " some junior students called out.giving me a hug

I smiled at them " how was your holiday?" I asked and they replied "fine" then with more smiles, they scurried back to their classes.

I turned to the ss2 girl kneeling in front of me for late coming

" senior Meera please" she said slowly and I sighed.

I wasn't ready for this drama now

" why did you come late?"

" I misplaced my transport fare..." she said.I didn't know if she was lying or not but I still let her go anyway

She thanked me and quickly ran off to class. I felt someone's gaze tearing me up from behind.I turned back to see Clara.she was fuming at me

" what did you just do ?" She scowled

" let her go.she lost her T-fare " i replied and she hissed

" you don't even know if she was lying or not. Awon miss goody two shoes " she said and shashayed past me before I could reply

" let the girl be..she's such an upstart " Sophie said from behind me when she saw me glaring.

I smiled " hmm..I'll wait for her some other time then " I said with a small smile. Turning to the remaining students in front of me and giving those with no tangible excuse their punishment for late coming.

I guess I'm really back to school..so help me lord
