@BlackBird0727
Pen Name: BlackBird0727 – Although most of my readers and friends call me Andi
Username: BlackBird0727
Is your pen name your legal name? If no, then how did you make up one?
No, my pen name is most definitely not my legal name. Can you imagine if it was though? I think I'd sound like a jail inmate with the numbers at the end. Anyway, the name comes from one of my favorite songs by The Beatles.
How many books have you published till date?
I've published five books on Wattpad.
The Darkness that Consumes the Light (1) - Romance
A Light in the Darkness (2) - Romance
A Series of Little Deaths – Erotic Horror
My Verboten - Fantasy Spindled Reminiscence – Poetry
What are your future projects?
Well outside of Wattpad I've been writing a series of novels that dabble in paranormal romance. I've gotten three books already written in one series and another three books I'm working on that coincide with that. I'm not sure if I'll ever publish them on Wattpad or not. Inside of Wattpad I've got another book that I'm working on called Malicious. I can't say really anything about that book until A Light in the Darkness is completed because I've tied that particular book into my "Darkness" series.
What is writing to you?
I'm a very creative person. So, writing to me is just another outlet to create. It's a way to express myself and my emotions through text. It's also a resource to explain topics and situations that may not usually have a light shown on them like mental health, addiction, PTSD, etc.
Is being an author, your long time dream or a hidden passion you found out later?
I'd say that writing is a long-time passion of mine. I've been writing since I was a kid. A little fun fact about me – I used to write erotic short stories for my close friends and whoever they had crushes on when I was in middle school and high school. (yes, you read that right, in middle school)
What genre books you like to work on?
I think I'm pretty comfortable writing in any genre. As you can see I dabble in just a bit of everything. Although I do enjoy writing my books with a romantic plot or subplot the majority of the time.
If we challenge you to write a book of another genre we suggest, then would you take it up?
Absolutely. I'd like to think I could tackle any genre and have fun with it.
Then we would love to read a different type shape-shifter book from you soon.
Writing is a reality that paints a beautiful fantasy. What do you think are the charms of writing fiction/non fictional books?
Personally, I enjoy the ability to write about things people don't usually like to talk about. When I wrote my first book 'The Darkness that Consumes the Light' that's all I wrote it for. I wanted to bring awareness to mental health and its correlation to addiction.
Also, I wanted to show how difficult it is for someone to overcome addiction even with the help of someone who loves you. I don't think society really does a good job of making mental health a priority. You can't really be healthy outside of yourself if you can't be healthy inside of yourself.
Who are your favorite authors in and out of wattpad?
Outside of Wattpad my absolute favorite author is Chuck Palahniuk. He has been my favorite since I was a kid. I also love Cassandra Clare, Becca Fitzpatrick, P.C. & Kristin Cast... and so many others. (I actually have a huge thing for paranormal and fantasy novels)
Inside of Wattpad I enjoy works by LailaLiliana TheBibicalSinner arialyn918
Name few of your close wattpad friends.
For starters I'm going to have to say LailaLiliana , my kitten, who is also part of my wolfpack. Other members of the wolfpack are TheScripturalSaint and theoryofhel. Of course the creator of our wolfpack as well PebbleQueen . Then there's my workaholics lover and fellow farmhand Kat9027 .
What is your favorite series you have recently watched or read?
I'm a huge Peaky Blinders fan as well as The Office and Workaholics. Something I've recently watched and enjoyed is His Dark Materials.
Who is your favorite actor/actress?
After his performance in JOKER, Joaquin Phoenix is hands down my favorite actor. I'd say my favorite actress is Sarah Paulson. I loved her in American Horror Story.
Who is your favorite Villain you couldn't help but love?
Pennywise. Because underneath all that make-up is Bill Skarsgard.
What are your hobbies other than writing and reading?
Does watching hockey count? If so then watching hockey is probably one of my all-time favorite hobbies. On a more realistic note, I love to draw, paint, and dance.
What are your hidden talents?
This probably isn't the appropriate place to talk about the majority of my 'hidden talents'. So I'll go with the ability to pick up random things and make a sexual related pun about it based off the label.
Who is your first celebrity crush?
Travis Barker. Which is where my love for men with tattoos and piercings was born.
What is the most embarrassing situation that you have ever been through?
I'm not usually one to get embarrassed but this one time at work a customer came up to me and asked me a question. When I looked up at him I couldn't make my mouth work because he was that attractive. I just stood there, stuck on stupid, with my mouth hanging open like an idiot. Although he did snatch a tester strip out of my hand and wrote his number down on it but I never called him though because I felt like such an idiot.
One craziest thing you have ever done?
Oh man, there are so many things to choose from. I guess the better question is: What crazy thing have I not done?
I did break into someone's beach house once during the winter months with a few of my friends. We did some pretty wild things that day but the majority of said activities are not ones I'm going to talk about. My friend did steal a really fancy telescope though.
There are many authors who just started their journey and many readers who want to write but has no courage to do so. Please give them a tip and a word of encouragement.
Write what you like and don't compare yourself or your work to other writers. I've found a lot of people get really competitive or feel the need to compare themselves to others and it's such a silly thing to do. Not only is it discouraging but everyone is different. So, embrace your difference and don't feel the pressure to be something you're not or create something that doesn't suit your interests.
So, all in all, trust your gut.
Last but not the least, have you ever dreamt of writing your own comic?
Honestly, I've never even thought about it before now.
What do you feel about this interview?
