The next day

Karen came to class, as she was about to sit down at her chair, she suddenly screamed bloody murder, literally, there was blood dripping out from her her table.

Shawn:what the?

Karen:(faints)

Sal:(catches her) well this is an interesting way to start the day.

Imogen: there's blood dripping out of her table, how can you be so nonchalant about that!

Sal:(gives her Karen) because it's not real blood, real blood looks thicker but feels thinner than it looks, it's also much finer. I can see lumps from here.

Samuel:how do you know so much about how blood looks.

Sal:not important right now, what we should be thinking about is why someone put fake blood in Karen's locker.

Imogen:if it's actually fake.

Sal: only one way to find out(tastes it) it's tomato sauce mixed with octopus blood, impressive.

Shawn:(scans a sample) he's right,it must be the culprit that did this.

Karina:(enters) woah,did Karen commit suicide?

Imogen:I know you hate her right now but could you not pray for her death please?

Karen:(wakes up) what happened?

Steven: someone tried to give you a heart attack, I think you should go  home, you had quite a shock.

Karen:no, I'm good, I have a test today anyway which I can't miss.

Shawn:if you insist,cbe careful okay.

Nicholas:(to Shawn)  when are we going to tell her about the footage?

Shawn:I don't know Nicholas, for now let's keep it to ourselves, she's already shaken up as it is.

Lunch time

As Karen walked to the cafeteria,she couldn't help but feel, not one, but two pairs of eyes on her, but she brushed it off. As she took a step into the cafeteria, something, or someone, tugged her hair, hard.

As she stepped back, she turned to see someone running away, before she could register anything, she looked forward and screamed at what she saw,there was a pair of scissors stuck in the ground where she stood before turning,and pieces of her hair were stuck to it.

Karen:what the heck is going on?!

By now everyone had seen what happened, she quickly ran to her next class, losing her appetite.

Samantha: whoever is behind this wasn't kidding about sending Mabel a friend.

Samuel: yeah, I just hope Madeline can help us.

Shawn:we all do, for both Sebastian and Karen's sake, more for Karen right now actually.

After school

Samuel's house

They were trying to convince Siobhan to help them, keyword: trying.

Siobhan: absolutely not, I saw Karen nearly be impaled on the head by scissors, this is one case I want no part in.

Samuel:come on Siobhan, don't you want to know who tried to kill Mabel? For Karen and Karina to stop fighting? For Sebastian to be free?

Siobhan:I do, but I don't think mum can handle another of her children's near death, or actual death this time.

Samuel:(sighs) (takes off his watch) will you do it if I gave you this?

Siobhan:(takes it) done, where's the girl?

Steven:just like that? You wouldn't help us for the sake of people's lives and freedom but you will for a watch?

Siobhan:this watch is the closest to Shawn's as you'll ever get and it's also very pretty, totally worth the risk.

Shawn: anyway, I'm going to get Madeleine on video call, Siobhan I'm sure you know what to do.

Siobhan: Samuel's not the only one who can interrogate.

Shawn:(calls Madeleine)

Madeleine: Bonjour,que c'est?(hello, who's this?)

Siobhan: Bonjour,jem'appele Siobhan, tu est Madeleine?(hello, my name is Siobhan, you are Madeleine?)

Madeleine:oui, tu connais Moi? Parce que je ne connais pas toi(yes, do you know me? Because I don't know you)

Siobhan:non, Mais tu connais Mabel Norman?(no, but you know Mabel Norman?)

Madeleine:oui, nous tres Bien Amies, Mais Elle est Dan l'hopital(yes, we are good friends, but she is the hospital)

Siobhan:oui,savez-vous qui pourrait etre responsable(yes, do you know who might be responsible?)

Madeleine:(nervous) Sebastian a beaucoup amis qui aimont IL (Sebastian has a lot of friends who like him)

Chris:can you ask if she understands English? All this French is making me crave croissants

Siobhan:(rolls eyes) tu parles l'anglais? (Do you speak English?)

Madeleine: a peu,Mais je comprends( a little,but I understand)

Siobhan:do you anyone that could've been capable?

Madeleine:non,je ne sais pas(no, I don't know)

Siobhan:okay,then do you any of her very close friends that are French as well?

Madeleine:Elles'appelle Perle L'ouest,Elle a  Francais Meilleur Amie de Mabel (her name is Perle L'ouest,she Mabel's French best friend)

Siobhan:I see,-

Madeleine:Jai Mal a tete,auvoir(I have a headache, goodbye) (cuts the call)

Siobhan:she knows something,but is too scared to talk,but we don't know what Perle looks like.

Imogen: YOU don't know how she looks like,but I do. You see we happen to have the same last name.

Keith:last time I checked, you're half Portuguese not half French.

Imogen:and last time I checked, L'ouest means west genius.

Samuel:it doesn't matter what her name means or who she shares it with.

Steven:just show us her picture

Imogen: whatever (shows them)

Nicholas: not to sound racist or anything,but she looks pretty dark for a French girl.

Shawn:unless...

Steven: she's half French!

Shawn: we need to find out more about her,she could be the culprit! It could also help me crack that infuriating box.

Samantha:wait you still haven't cracked it yet?

Shawn: it's unlike any code I know, I tried using French codes but it was no good. I'm hoping that if we figure out which other country one of her parents is from it can help me crack open this box, and hopefully this Case.

Steven: well we should probably all head home, and everyone try and keep an eye on Karen, who knows when this girl will strike again.

The gang went their separate ways, but as Hyeldie headed home,she felt like she was being watched, she turned and surprisingly saw Perle standing in an alley.

Perle:(beckons her to come)

Hyeldie: um, hello, Perle right?

Perle: biology class, Karen, sidewinder, poison, food, tell no one, else is danger.

Hyeldie: how do I know you aren't trying to just make us take of our list of suspects?

Perle: please, for Mabel(runs off quickly)

Hyeldie: what does that mean, I wonder?

Three days later

During biology class, which Hyeldie happens to take with Karen, they were going to observe one of Mr Oscar's snake's reaction to being carried, but Hyeldie couldn't shake off the feeling that what Perle said had to do with this.

When it was her turn to hold the snake, she looked closer at where the snake's ears might've been, and she noticed a very tiny metal looks device, but she ignores it at first, however when she notices the snake's reaction when Karen's name was called, she immediately stood up, before the snake could bite Karen, she pushed her.

Karen: that was close, thanks Hyeldie, it's as if you knew it was gonna happen.

Hyeldie: I don't think that's Mr Oscar's snake.

Mr Clarence: let me call him to explain what happened, he assured me that his snake's were only trained to attack people he told it to.

When Mr Oscar arrives, he confirms that it is his snake, but also notices the metal device.

Oscar: someone's controlling my snake (takes out the device)

The snake immediately calms,and when Karen tried to carry it again,it didn't react viciously.

Hyeldie:(holds out a sample bag) put it here,I'll get examined for you.

Oscar:(puts it) I'm sure Shawn will be able to figure out who did it.

Lunch

Hyeldie explains everything making sure not to mention her encounter with Perle, though she tries to indirectly defend her.

Shawn:(scans the device) it's definitely a communication device, but it has just one recording
(Plays it)

"When you hear the name Karen Napier, you will be alert, when you see red hair and green eyes with glasses, you will strike, after that you shall return to normal."

Samuel: isn't that Mr Oscar's voice?!

Shawn: no, it was a voice modifier, someone was trying to hypnotize the snake to attack Karen while using this so that even if they find they will immediately accuse Me Oscar, and he wouldn't be able to defend himself since the snakes only listen to him. Such a well thought out plan. We're dealing with a true mastermind here, if he had decided to report this he would've been convicted, and we may not have been able to save him on time.

Samuel: one week gone and we have no leads,vno evidence, no clues, just more murder attempts and only an unconfirmed hunch.

Hyeldie:yes, it might not even be her, maybe she's just an innocent accomplice like everyone else.

Imogen: you seem so intent on defending her, is there something you wanna tell us?

At that moment she felt a stare, but not like Perle's stare,bthis was more menacing, as of daring her to speak, she knew that talking now would put not just her and Perle, but everyone else around her at risk, they had enough problems with Karen and Sebastian as it was.

She decided to keep quiet and wait for another time to tell them, right now too much was at risk to add any more.

Hyeldie: it's just that I've seen her around and she looks so sweet that I couldn't picture her being behind all this.

Steven: not everyone is what they appear to be Hyeldie.

Hyeldie: you're probably right {sorry guys, but until we have some more clues and evidence, I can't risk Perle by telling you guys, that is, if she's not just doing this to throw us off, I hope I'm doing the right thing}
