ANOTHER Doctor McClain

Lance was fast walking along the sidewalk before getting to a light. He spammed the button to walk because who doesn't?

Lance of course was running a few minutes late to work and heaven forbid was he going to be late. He waited impatiently at the light sighing nearly accepting his fate.

He glanced at the crosswalk on the other side. A boy with raven black hair dress fairly nice with a bottom up shirt had the right of way walking to the same corner Lance was on. The boy hadn't noticed Lance but Lance had definitely noticed him.

The man was handsome and Lance blushed lightly. But that came quickly to a stop as a car sped through despite the red light and the man hit the ground hard in a blur.

Lance stood for a moment in shock watching all the cars screech to a halt. Lance then took off running to the mans aid. It looked pretty serious as blood was staining his white shirt in growing red flowers.

Lance panicked and pulled out his bag. As a doctor it became a habit of carrying materials for things like this, yet he never thought he'd have to use it off the job.

He began to apply pressure to his wounds exactly as he'd done a million times. "Don't worry, you'll be alright. I'm a doctor." Lance said reassuringly despite not knowing for sure the man was listening. Lance yelled at someone to call 911 immediately and they fearfully did so. "You're going to be just fine sir."

Lance pressed on a wound on his chest and the man seemed to spring to life with a gasp scaring the ever living heck out of Lance.

The man tried looking around, "what the f-" he started.

"Language." Lance said still tending to his wounds.

"You've got to be kidding me." He murmured setting his head back down against the asphalt.

The ambulance already arrived as they weren't far away. The paramedics got the man onto a stretcher and Lance flashed his badge getting a ride with them. They identified the man as Keith from his wallet. They asked him a series of questions only a few being answered.

"Are you single?" Lance asked one.

All the paramedics and Keith looked at him disapprovingly.

"What? It was just a simple question. Are you?" Lance asked again.

"Yes." Keith rolled his eyes.

Lance was about to say something else but they arrived at the hospital and he engaged himself back into a work setting. He quickly jumped out of the vehicle and helped the paramedics. There wasn't much else Lance could do after they got inside. He saw Shiro and explained everything giving him a briefing of his condition.

"Thank you Lance. We'll take it from here, get in your scrubs and clock in." Shiro spoke quick.

Lance nodded doing as he's told watching as Keith was rolled away. He bit his cheek worriedly entering the dressing room getting ready. He changed into his scrubs, but on his coat, and attached his ID.

Lance didn't see Keith for the rest of the day.

The next day him and his coworkers were changing and he decided to ask a few questions. "So... the one guy, who came in in an ambulance the other day... how's he doing?" He asked casually.

"Lance, we get a lot of those." Matt smiled.

"He's talking about the guy with black hair, you know, with the mullet." Hunk informed.

"Ooh. Didn't he get hit by a car?" Matt asked.

"Yup, and Lance came to his rescue." Hunk teased.

"Whatever, I was doing what any doctor in that situation would do." Lance but on his lab coat.

"Yeah, the only difference is, you have a major crush on him." Hunk nudged him.

"I do not! I'm just concerned! That's my job!" Lance defended.

"Well, you're in luck. I heard Shiro assigned you to him." Matt smiled.

"Are you serious?" Lance suddenly brightened.

"Yeah, he definitely doesn't have a crush on him." Hunk rolled his eyes being sarcastic.

Lance however was already gone. He giddily walked through the hallway minding a few coworkers before sliding up to the receptionist desk.

"Hey Allura, I need my patients for the day." Lance drummed his fingers on the counter happily.

She nodded while on the phone. "Thank you ma'am, I'll make make sure of it." She hung up and wrote a few things on a sticky note in cursive handwriting.

She then rolled over to a filing cabinet pulling out the latest list of patients as it was ever changing.

"There you go Lance. Also nice work the other day. I heard about you saving that guy the other day who got hit by a car." She said resting her chin on the back of her hand.

Lance was distracted as his eyes were flicking through the list of patients he would have to care for, and the few appointments. "Oh, yeah, thanks."

"What are you looking for?" She became curious, but it was that exact moment Lances eyes fell upon the name Keith Kogane.

"Yes!" He jumped fist bumping the air. "Thanks Allura, see you at lunch." He said as they often did have the same lunch break.

Sadly Lance had an scheduled appointment first. He fast walked to the office and walked in while reading his file. "Rolo, nice to meet you, I'm Dr. McClain." He shook his hand.

"I'm surprised, normally you wait quite a while before the doctor arrives." He laughed.

It was true most of the time, however Lance was eager to get to Keith and see his condition.

The appointment went by quickly and he had to check in on a few already hospitalized people, and go through two more appointments.

Finally, he made it to room 104 and grabbed he clipboard from the small basket walking in.

He saw Keith was sitting up in bed looking quite board. "Hi, Keith, I'm Dr. McClain. I don't think we got the chance to formally meet."

"Hi, you're the one who helped me before the paramedics arrived, right?" Keith asked shaking his hand loosely.

"Yeah, you took quite the hit." Lance smiled warmly.

"You're very different from what I remember you to be like. To be fair, I was half out of it." Keith raised an eyebrow.

"Ah, I'm just on the job." Lance smirked skimming through his condition.

"Didn't you tell me to watch my Language... AFTER I GOT HIT BY A CAR!" Keith could help but laugh at the ridiculousness in its entirety.

Lance shrugged, "I grew up with a lot of siblings, I can't help it!"

Keith rolled his eyes looking out the window with a faint smile still on his face. He wouldn't tell Dr. McClain that he actually requested him.

"A concussion. A broken rib. A few scrapes. Not bad, you got off lucky." Lance felt relieved.

"Lucky." Keith scoffed. "It's amazing how well I managed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time."

"Interesting, because I managed to be in the right place at the right time. Otherwise, I never wouldn't met you." Lance flirted. Keith's face went a small shade of pink.

Keith opened his mouth to speak but Lances watch buzzed. "Sorry, my lunch break starts in 5."

"Oh, I guess the nurse will be showing up any minute with food, I'm starving." Keith looked up at the clock on the wall.

"Want to eat lunch together?" Lance blurted.

"Uh, sure." He said a little surprised.

"Um, I'm going to be right back, I need to grab my lunch." Lance said and they waved at each other.

Lance wanted to bang his head against the wall at his stupidity. On the other end, Keith was scrambling to fix himself up. He combed through his hair with his fingers and checked his teeth. His body was sore but that was the least of his worries. He sat back in his bed just as the door reopened.

Lance walked in with his cold lunch in Tupperware and a plastic spoon. He washed his hands and pulled off his coat showing his tan arms. Keith starred at them slightly trying not to make it obvious. Lance waited to eat until Keith food arrived.

The nurse walked in with a cart handing him a small plate of meatloaf, steamed carrots, mashed potatoes, and chocolate pudding. "Hi La-I mean Dr. McClain." Said Pidge.

"Hey, Mrs. Holt." He said teasingly. They usually used each other's first names and it felt odd using their titles.

"I thought you're on lunch." She looked at the clock.

"I am." He held up his food popping it open.

"Ohh, I see." She gave a smug glance to Keith before leaving. "Enjoy."

Both boys had pink faces from her suggestion. "Whatcha got?" Keith asked eating a steamed carrot.

"My special potato salad." He took a bite.

"Special?" Keith raised an eyebrow.

"Yup, I'm an amazing cook I'll have you know. "Wanna try?"

"Sure." Lance held up a bit and Keith took it, neither caring much for germs despite one of them being a doctor.

Keith eyes lit up. "That's delicious." He said in amazement.

"Here, have some. Food you make is better shared." He put some on Keith's plate.

Little did they know, they started a tradition.

The next day, for lunch Lance made chicken, enough for two and brought it. The more they talked, the fonder they grew of each other.

On the third day, Keith decided to make a bold move and see if Lance was single or not. He hadn't heard Lance talk of girlfriend but he still wanted to be sure. "I bet your girlfriend must love having a boyfriend good at cooking." He said taking a bite of pasta.

"Yeah, he or she would be if I was actually dating someone." Lance smiled catching on to what Keith was doing.

"He huh?" Keith raised an eyebrow trying to contain his excitement.

"Yup, I'm bisexual." Lance said confidently.

"That's nice, I'm actually gay."

It was then that both boys became set on dating one another.

It was supposedly Keiths fourth day at the hospital and Keith was especially excited as he made a gorgeous meal he hoped Keith would love. He felt embarrassed at how much time he put into making such a meal for him. However, when Lance received his list of patients for the day, Keith wasn't listed.

He sprinted to room 104 to find an old lady with long white hair instead.

Lances day went by slowly. He was sad and upset that he'd probably never see Keith again. The idea crept in his mind that Keith had never liked him in the first place.

Lunch came and Lance pulled out the containers sadly before putting them back in. He skipped lunch and went on with his day.

When his shift was over he changed back into his cloths making a bit of small talk with his friends.

On his way out, he saw Keith at the front desk talking to Allura. Lance nearly fell over but tried to act cool.

"Hey Allura, I'm heading out." Lance said looking through some papers pretending he hadn't seen Keith.

"Oh, alright, have a great night." She smiled brightly handing Keith a clipboard. However he didn't grab it as his eyes were locked on Lance.

"Um, doctor. Hey." He said awkwardly.

"You can call me Lance, I'm off the job." Lance smirked grabbing the clipboard for Keith.

"Allura put him on a family/friend discount." Lance said giving his signature before handing it back.

"Oh, okay. Sorry, didn't know you knew each other." She quickly filled in a few more things on her screen.

"Thanks." Keith said slightly awkward. "I was checked out early this morning and I was hoping I could see you actually."

Allura raised an eyebrow smiling at her computer screen not saying word.

"Um, me too, I was wondering if maybe, I could cook for you again. Over at my place." Lance said embarrassed.

"Yeah, Yes, when are you free?" He asked receiving papers from Allura.

"You have anywhere to be?" Lance raised an eyebrow as Keith shook his head lightly with a smile.

They left the hospital together and Keith walked up to a red motorcycle.

"Is that um... yours?" Lance swallowed hard.

"Yup, I know you said you walk from your place to the hospital, but I have to bring Red. Plus it's cold." Keith offered a helmet.

"Okay." Lance smiled. It was something new and out of his comfort zone, but the look Keith was giving him made him eager to try it.

Keith swung his leg over and turned on the bike, it's loud rumbling coming to life. Lance got on the back and nervously put his hands on Keith's shoulders to keep himself on.

Keith chuckled and looked back over his shoulder. "You're going to fly off the back with a grip like that."

Lance then hesitantly wrapped his arms around Keith. When they began riding through the town Lance squeezed tighter and leaned into his back. Keith gave a small smirk, he was happy with his decision to go home, change, and come back, for the sole purpose of running into the doctor.

Lance pointed out the directions to his flat and when Keith parked, the tall man was hyped on adrenaline. "That-that was fun. Horrifying, but fun!" He said exasperatedly taking off his helmet.

They walked in and...
