Keith had fallen, and he had fallen hard...

Why you may ask? Well the explanation was very simple.

Lance McClain.

Fighting a war throughout the universe isn't exactly easy, and he didn't know when, or even why exactly, but he and Lance had grown closer. A lot closer. It started off innocent, but then one day Lance confessed he had stronger feelings for Kieth. This obviously took the darker haired male completely by surprise, but then somehow they ended up together...

And Keith was completely head over heals.

He loved Lance's laugh, and that goofy grin he always wore. He loved his flawlessly tan skin. He loved his ocean blue eyes that would always shine like the stars. He loved the way he walked, trained, sang, danced, slept, sat, breathed...

Keith loved how soft his hair would feet between his fingers. He loved how his breath would tickle his lips when he whispered Keith's name as they pulled away from a kiss. Or how Lance would put his hand on the small of his back and gently lead him somewhere, or hold him firm like he wanted him close, to protect him...

Keith loved Lance...

And even though they were dating and he knew Lance cared for him, he was still resilient to express that fact. He never understood the gravity that three little words could have until he struggled so hard with them...

Even though the fear of Lance not feeling the exact same way was a bit too much at times, Keith was happy, and he didn't want to do anything to ruin that.

Keith was in his room since it was a day when much wasn't happening.  The others had gone to the space mall, but he decided to stay behind because he didn't want to cause troubles if the alien who sold the knives saw him again. He was surprised to hear a knock at his door.

"Come in." Keith stated simply.

The door slid open revealing Lance with his signature smirk.

Keith loved that smirk, even just the sight of it made his heart beat faster...

"Lance you're back." Keith walked over too greet him trying not to seem too excited.

"Hey." Lance greeted wrapping and arm around the shorter's waist kissing him on the temple.

Keith loved it when he did that...

"I got something for you. Close your eyes." The Cuban advised.

Keith gave him a skeptical look.

"Just do it." Lance replied removing his arm and nudging him playfully.

"Fine." Keith sighed closing his eyes. He heard Lance shuffle for a bit and then felt something cool slip around his neck. He opened his eyes to see Lance, whose face was really close, had slipped a necklace over his head.

"Surprise." Lance smiled.

Keith picked up the dog tag at the bottom and brought it to his face to look closer. It had L&K engraved in fancy lettering and a heart engraved on it, as well as a small red bead hanging off of the chain.

"Lance and Keith," Lance pointed out. He then pulled an identical necklace, aside from the bead being blue, out from under the collar of his shirt. "I have one too."

"Lance..." Keith smiled up at him. He felt his heart swell happily. No one had really ever given him a gift like that before. He loved it. "Thank you."

My God was he in love with Lance...

"You're welcome." Lance smiled proudly, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend.

"How much did you pay for them?" Keith asked.

"That doesn't matter." Lance replied. "As long as you like it."

"I do, but I don't want you spending money on me." The paler frowned.

"Keith." Lance whispered leaning on close, so the red paladin could feel his breath dance across his lips. "Don't worry about it."

Keith blushed slightly at their position.

He loved how even though they'd been together for a little while he still got flustered when Lance would hold him like this.

Lance then removed on of his arms to bring his hand up and slide it behind Keith's ear, bringing the others head closer.

Keith let his eyes flutter closed and parted his mouth slightly as Lance connected their lips. He let his hands slide up and around his partner's shoulders, and kissed back.

Lance pulled away for only a moment to tilt his head the other way and take a breath before pressing their lips together once again.

Keith was completely swept away whenever Lance kissed him.

Slowly Lance pulled away, leaning their foreheads together.

"I love you." Keith confessed breathlessly before he even registered what he said.

Lance's eyes flicked open wide.

The red paladin panicked in his mind. He hadn't meant to say that! I mean he meant it, but he didn't want to say it out loud! What if Lance wasn't ready??

However, after the initial surprise Lance just chuckled quietly. "I love you too Keith..." He pecked him on the lips again.

Keith was so happy he felt like he could burst into a whole new galaxy, but he tried to seem contained. "Why did you look so surprised?"

"Because!" Lance laughed. "I mean I wanted to wait and let you say it first, but I never expected you to actually do it!"

"What..? You didn't think I loved you?" Keith asked.

"No, there you go analyzing things I say too much again~." Lance's tone was play full. "I simply didn't think you were ready to express such strong emotions, and I didn't want to push you..."

Keith smiled at that. There really was no way for him to express how much he truly loved Lance. "Well I was scared..."

Lance pulled him into his chest, holding him close, like he was trying to protect him from any harm that may come. "You never have to be afraid to tell me the truth..." He murmured. "Because no matter what happens I will always love you Keith."

Keith stayed in his partner's arms.

Keith loved being there. He loved Lance's teasing. He loved their new necklaces.

He loved that Lance loved him.

That's all he ever really needed to be happy.

I just always imagined Keith being the first one to say it 😊 also yes I know I'm a cheesy fluff loving ball, but hey you're still here so XD.
