Family
Enjoy you guys!
Keith sat awake on night in his room not able to sleep. He held his knife in his hand. His face reflected in its surface, and he found himself staring. He frowned. I may have discovered I'm part Galra, but there's still so much I don't know... who did you belong to..? Do I have family out there, somewhere..? He shook his head slowly, placing the knife back down. Who am I kidding? Even if I did have family out there it's obvious they don't want me... he laid back down looking to the ceiling. He felt tears build up in his bottom eyelids, but fought hard to keep them back. Even if he wasn't in front of people he hated crying. I'm a loner and that's how I'll always be... he turned on his side closing his eyes to try and force himself to get some sleep. He held his blanket close around him, but it felt only like a pathetic excuse for a replacement of another persons affection.

Keith now sat at the table the next morning at breakfast... he hardly touched his food goo, and just sat there fiddling with his spoon as everyone else chatted.
Lance was pestering Allura again, flirting no doubt. Pidge was telling hunk about her new experiment, and Coran and Shiro were talking about whatever it is they usually talk about. Keith was silent, lost in his thoughts about the family he may have that left him... About how much better his life would have been, how much better he as a person would have been, if they'd just kept him... gave him the love he'd always lacked. He could admit he wasn't the person he wanted to be. He was short tempered, evasive, untrusting, and all in all he was kind of just out of touch with his compassionate side. He never wanted to end up that way... but years of feeling abandoned had just forced him into it.
"Keith, hey! Earth to Mullet!" Lance shouted waving a hand in front of the red paladins face.
"Huh?" Keith snapped out of his thoughts and noticed everyone had looked over to him curiously. Shiro looked a bit more concerned then confused.
"Dude, you alright?" Lance asked casually. "You're not eating."
"Yeah... I'm fine." Keith replied. "Just not hungry..."
"Are you sure?" Shiro asked. "If there's something bothering you-"
"I said it's nothing." Keith said a bit more harshly then he meant.
"Okay, geez no need to get all defensive." Lance crossed his arms leaning back in his chair.
Keith glared over at him. "If you'll excuse me." Keith stood with a passive aggressive tone. He then walked out of the room without a word.
Lance continued to sulk in his chair, his arms crossed and his brows furrowed in slight anger as he looked away.
Everyone looked to him after watching Keith go.
"What?" He snapped slightly as they watched him expectantly.
Shiro raised a brow at him.
"Ugh!" Lance scoffed uncrossing his arms before getting up and going after Keith.

Keith had gone to the training deck, abandoning his jacket, and bringing his Bayard. He was slicing away at the robotic soldiers and avoiding the drones blasts. The training sequence ended and just as he was about to start the next one someone walked in.
"Keith buddy, what's wrong?" Lance asked as he approached the red paladin.
"Quiznak Lance, nothing!" Keith shouted angrily swinging his sword in thin air, and stepping away from him slightly. "I said it was nothing before, so why do you guys insist on asking?!"
"Because it's obvious your lying Keith!" Lance raised his voice too, but tried to hide his anger. "Why do you insist on closing up all the time? You aren't alone anymore, you have us, why don't you ever trust us enough to share what's going on in your mind?!"
Keith froze, before slowly lowering his sword. "I do trust you....." he trailed off his voice growing quiet.
Upon hearing it Lance calmed down too taking a deep breath. "Then why? Why are you always internalizing everything?"
Kieth stayed faced away, trying to catch his breath, he couldn't tell if it was because of the work out, or the slight anxiety he started to feel about the situation, but it was suddenly hard to breathe. He bit his lip feeling tears forming. Damnit Keith why are you crying? Just stop being a baby already... he scolded himself. He tried to seem composed on the outside though. "I... I don't know..."
Lance approached him again placing a hand on his shoulder, and turning him around to face him. "Keith... I understand you're not just gonna be able to play happy family with us right away, and tell us everything that's wrong, but just don't... push us away."
Kieth met his eyes before nodding. "Thanks Lance..."
Lance flashed him a smile, before breaking his grip from Keith's shoulder and leaving the room.
Keith placed his hand where lances had been. His hand may have been gone... but the warmth stayed...

"Why are we doing this?" Keith asked as everyone gathered around the two couches with snacks and popcorn getting ready to start up a movie.
"Because it's fun, ya killjoy." Pidge replied throwing a piece of popcorn at his head.
He growled at her before turning to Shiro.
"Princess Allura and Coran never got to do stuff like this, come on Keith, play nice, just for tonight?" Shiro smiled at him.
Keith sighed before taking his seat on the end of one of the couches.
Lance finished putting the movie in and sat down next to him. Pidge hopped in next to him, and Hunk by her.
Shiro, Allura, and Coran took the other couch as the movie began.

It was a little more than halfway through the movie and Kieth really just wanted to disappear... On the screen the main character was just reunited with his mother after years of not knowing where each other were.
Keith tried to hold in his emotions, but was failing. He wanted that. He wanted a mother, a family, he wanted to be wanted... He couldn't stop it that time the tears were too intense. He shrunk back into the couch trying to hide them, and cry quietly to himself. He felt his breath catch in his throat when a hand suddenly wrapped around his. He looked over to Lance.
Lance smiled down weakly at him squeezing his hand in comfort. His eyes were kind like they were trying to tell him it was okay.
Keith tried to discretely wipe away his tears. He let his fingers wrap around Lance's hand in return.

The movie was over and the room filled with darkness only a very small amount of white light coming from the credits. You could hear Hunk snoring slightly as Pidge hopped off the couch to put the movie away.
When she did Lance tightened his grip on Keith's hand and pulled him off the couch, running out of the room before anyone could turn the lights on.
"L-Lance? Where are we going?" Keith asked as he clumsily tried to follow him.
Lance pulled him into an empty hallway before cornering him against a wall, and letting go of his hand, only to place them on his shoulders. "Tell me what's wrong... please. I want to help you."
"I-I..." Keith stuttered looking away. "I just.... I don't know."
"Keith." Lance said sternly.
"Okay!" Keith snapped. "I... just... I want a family Lance... everyone seems to have one, or had one, and I'm just... well I never really did. I want to know what it's like..."
"Keith..." Lance stated softly, placing a hand on the other paladin's cheek and wiping off a stray tear. "We are your family."
Keith fell silent for a few seconds. "I know, but..."
"But?" Lance asked.
"I don't really feel like it... I mean I'm not the same as you guys. I'm part galra, I'm not friendly and nice, I just kinda feel like I don't fit in here... as part of the family." The red paladin admitted.
"Nobody cares that you're part Galra, and yeah maybe you are a bit... intense sometimes, but that doesn't mean you're not sweet. You care." Lance told him.
"Maybe, but I still feel like I don't have a family... a real one." He replied looking down.
Lance looked kind of offended. "A real one?" He pushed Keith back against the wall making him look at him. "Family doesn't stop at blood Keith."
The paler boy look up at him in surprise. For some reason he felt his heart beat speed up.
"If you think that's what makes a family you're wrong." Lance began to explain. "Family is not blood, or all belonging perfectly to a group. What makes a family is love, and staying together through it all, no matter what, even if sometimes there are problems, in the end they'll always be there for each other. Don't you see..? You have all of that. Right here, with us."
Keith was overcome with emotion at the words. He couldn't look at Lance anymore, his stare was too intense. He leaned forward slightly letting his forehead rest against the blue paladin's chest. "I didn't mean to imply it like that... of course I care about you guys... I just don't understand why my real family felt the need to leave me..." he muttered quietly.
Lance pulled him into his room, which was across the hall.
"What are you-?" Keith began to ask in confusion.
"Cry." Lance ordered, looking him in the face.
"What?" The other questioned giving him a strange look.
"Go ahead and cry." Lance repeated.
"I did.." Keith trailed off.
Lance walked up to him taking his face in his hands. "Don't hold it back Keith..."
"I- I don't know what you're t-talking abou-" Keith began, but he could hardly finish over choking back a sob.
Lance finally took the other in his arms, holding him tight.
Keith returned the embrace as he cried quietly on Lance's chest, finally letting out his concealed emotions. He felt the other paladin's grip around him and felt the most home he'd ever been. He couldn't help but want to latch onto the affection he was being given, that he'd been denied the previous years of his life. This is what he wanted. He was wanted... he gripped the cloth of Lance's jacket as his crying slowed, but he didn't want him to let go.
How did he do it? Kieth wondered. How did he make up for years of neglect with just some simple words and an embrace? How did he get him to cry, and for once in his life feel it wasn't a bad thing? That he doesn't have to hide it in order to not seem weak, but let it out in order to become stronger? How did he bring the best out in him, in only the short amount of time they'd known each other? How did he do what Keith believed to be impossible..?
After a little while Lance did pull away, but not completely. He smiled at Keith, a kind smile. He then reached up to his cheek again wiping away a few tears with his thumb. "Feel better now?"
Keith nodded. He found himself staring into lance's blue eyes, that seemed to shine with the same beauty of the stars. His lips were what his gaze landed on next. He hardly knew what he was doing as he stood on his tiptoes slightly and captured those perfect lips in his own.
Lance was obviously surprised, but felt himself slowly close his eyes and melt into the kiss, becoming the more dominant one as he tasted the sweet, and slightly salty from the tears, taste of Keith's lips.
Eventually the two had to pull away.
Keith felt himself fall into lance's embrace again, almost striving for his affection, affection that could not be trumped by anyone. Family or not. "Thanks Lance..."
Hey guys, wow this ended up kinda long XD. Oh well, I hope you enjoyed it. I had this idea planned for a while, but after Keith's interview video thing, inspiration just struck even more. Tell me what you thought. Vote and comment, bye
