Hat Tricks
It was a quite day in StoryBrooke. The birds chirped as usual, people went on there way to work, or walked their dogs, take there children to school. It was perfectly normal.
That was the thing.
It was normal.
Normal was a word Blaine Anderson hated. One he was never identified with. He preferred being identified as mad. It was who he knew he was. Not this curse- this new man. Same name but different story.
No longer married to the love of his life, no longer a father to a beautiful daughter, far from his old tittle.
Hatter.
The curse the evil queen cast, cursed him the most. The curse of remembering. Living out the last 28 years alone. Seeing his family forget who he is.
When he first saw his daughter, Elizabeth, he cried, ran hugging her. She screamed and cried out stranger, running to these excuses of "parents". He stifled a sob, rumor went around saying how he was crazy, luckily it changed to lonely, because he was never seen talking to anyone after that.
Having your daughter not knowing who you are hurts, but what hurts even more is seeing your soulmate, your husband, alive. Walking down the streets on some weird device, he still didn't quite know to use- a phone he believed it was call.
But he was there. His hair was different, so was his clothing. It was him thought. The same endless blue eyes, that reminded him of the ocean. The hair color representing sweet caramel, not to mention his rosy cheeks ,and smile that would brighten any room.
His heart ached when he looked up at him, and gave a soft smile. No hug or kiss anymore. He didn't know who he was. Kurt, wasn't his anymore. He much have Quinn rip his heart out of his chest than have his soulmate forget.
Blaine checked his pocket watch walking down the side walk. A slight grin curled on his lips, as he saw he was right on time. His hands went right back in his black pea coat, walking into the hair salon.
The small salon which Kurt owned, Pavarotti's. Blaine remembered as if it was yesterday, the yellow bird that started it all.
~•~
"Come back here!"
Blaine yelled running through the enchanted forest. His coat waving behind him, top hat secure on his head, as he ran after the small yellow bird.
A whistle was heard like a sharp dagger through the trees, in which the little bird heard flying towards it.
Blaine kept running to it, the small yellow bird flew into a pair of pale delicate hands. He stopped in his tracks, looking at the hands, then the face attached to it.
Short hair framed his face, dirt smeared on a porcelain face. He looked up wide eyed at the man before him.
"Don't tell me you were planing to hurt this poor thing? It's helpless!"
"I'm on a job, a client needs it, now would you please give me bird."
Blaine sighed, holding his hand out reached to him.
Kurt moved his body away cradling the bird.
"No! I won't let you hurt some poor creature, monsters like you should go on and disappear!"
Blaine sighed and took off his hat, running a hand through his long dark curls.
"You act like I don't know who you are."
Kurt replied looking to him, his beige floral cape, moving with him.
Blaine raised and eyebrow holding his hat in his hand, out stretching his arms out taking a bow.
"Blaine's the name, stealing is the game."
Kurt scoffed and softly pet the bird, ignoring the man.
"Oh don't act like you're so high and mighty, Mr.innocent." Blaine scoffed raising an eyebrow. "I know who you are to." He replied, putting his hat back on, looking down at him.
Kurt had never felt more small compared to him.
"Oh? Well Then what?"
"You're the thief... Hummel. You're worth a pretty penny."
The mad man grinned, as Kurt gave a groan and roll of eyes to him.
"Just let the poor thing go, we don't need another creature susceptible to magic."
Kurt said glaring at Blaine, narrowing his eyes in a fierce look.
"Don't worry doll, I like it rough."
Blaine grinned back at his so called menacing glare.
Kurt rolled his eyes,
"take me, not the bird."
"You'd sacrifice your life for a bird."
Blaine asked crossing his arms.
"I can escape."
Kurt shot.
"And I can catch you."
Blaine grinned.
Kurt mirrored his expression letting the bird fly away.
"Give it a shot."

The bell to the shop rang, making Kurt look up, from his sweeping. He smiled softly to his customer. "Hey Blaine, you're usual?"
"Yes, please."
Blaine replied sitting in the chair, as Kurt made his way to button the cape in front of Blaine.
Blaine had gone in ever Week for a haircut. He didn't need it, and he loved his hair long. He just needed an excuse to see him.
Kurt smiled and started Blaine's usual trim.
"You hear? Mercedes's in jail. Mr.Chang busted her for stealing."
"Poor girl."
Blaine simply replied. He never talked much, he let Kurt talk most. Rant about his nosy neighbor or awful date. He just needed to be close to him, no matter what he just needed to at least see his face.
It was the only time he ever smiled now.

"Papa!"
Elizabeth laughed as she ran into Blaine's arms.
Blaine laughed and picked her up in the hug twirling her around.
"Why Elizabeth? Did you get prettier while I was away?"
The little girl giggled and shook her head.
"Oh papa, you're silly."
Kurt smiled, laughing softly and rose from the floor, whipping his pants, putting down the stuffed rabbit.
"Oh I'm anything but!"
Blaine smiled kissing her cheek.
Kurt laughed and went to hug him, Blaine's free arm opening up to embrace him.
"Welcome home darling."
Kurt smiled up to his husband.
Blaine smiled and softly kissed the lips, he's been apart from.
"I've missed you." Blaine said softly, looking into his eyes.
"I, as well."
Kurt smiled gently cupping his cheek with a free hand.
"Papa! Join our tea party!"
Elizabeth, smiled to her father.
Blaine laughed and smiled.
"Oh I much rather watch, Papa is quite tired from traveling."
Kurt laughed and took a hold of their girl, sitting down to the tea party once more.
He would learn to regret not joining them, when he had the chance.

"I did what you asked!"
Blaine shouted to the queen, beyond her desk.
She gave a look of disinterest, and drummed her nails against the desk top.
"Rachel Berry isn't dead now is she?"
"I brought her to you, that was the original deal, correct? Yes. Now, give me my family."
Blaine growled, a look of fire dancing in his eyes.
"Yes, but you know. I wanted her, dead."
Quinn sneered to him.
"She's the savior! I was only told to deliver her! Now keep your end of the deal. I wouldn't want to go to rumple now."
Blaine said placing his hands on the desk with a thud.
"You don't scare me hatter. You'll have your family soon enough."
Quinn replied sitting back.
With that Blaine took his hat and walked out, a dead like expression on his face as he made his way to a certain shop.
"Why if it isn't my dear hatter, what brings you here?"
"I need magic, Chang."
"Ah yes... but all magic comes with a price..."

He ran through the forest coat failing behind him. He needed to leave, they needed to flea. The enchanted forest was no longer home. Maybe they could escape, make a new like in some far off kingdom.
Right now Blaine needed his family to be safe.
He kicked open the door with his tight pants, and leather clad boots. Kurt looked up worried at his husband's state.
"Darling?"
He questioned with worry in his tone.
"We must be going, love."
Blaine said trying to keep a smile for Elizabeth.
"Papa, what's wrong?"
Elizabeth frowned.
"Now isn't the time to discuss, we must get going."
Blaine said as he put on his husband's and daughters coat.
Blaine picked up Elizabeth grabbing Kurt's hand, as they ran through the enchanted forest, like they once started.
Blaine could hear the guards following lose pace.
Just a few more steps he'd be safe.
Darkness came over, as he felt his love by his side fall.
"Kurt!"
Blaine yelled putting down Elizabeth, and going to him.
"Go... please!"
Kurt coughed, holding his wounded side.
"I'm not leaving you!"
Blaine cried, tears clouding his vision, seeing his husband powerless.
"I love you... go... for Elizabeth... please..."
Shouts of the guards came through the trees. Blaine cried as he planted a lasting kiss to his lips, before gathering a sobbing Elizabeth running, before it was too late...
~•~
Blaine started from across the street. A father talking with a daughter, who didn't even know he was talking to his daughter.
Kurt was smiling brightly as he trimmed Elizabeth's hair. Both talking, and laughing. Blaine wished he could join their jokes, and story's.
He yearned to be able to join their tea party, instead of actually watching.
He swore if they remembered, he would never hesitate to join one.
He hated himself for a couple weeks ago, how he embarrassed himself, he couldn't hold any more emotion. He lost it.

"I promise we were happy! We were married! We had a child!"
Blaine cried out, following after Kurt.
Kurt shook his head looking back.
"Yeah because we lived in wonderland! A made up fairytale world! You're as bad a Henry!"
"It's was the enchanted forest! I know how I sound- but that's my curse. To remember."
Blaine cried, his voice getting small and soft in tone.
"Don't come to my salon ever again."
Kurt said, voice trembling, eyes tearing up looking at him. He got his coat on sobbing softly.
"I love you."
Blaine managed to say,
One last time to say the least.
"I know."
Kurt replied softly, voice shaking as he walked out.
Blaine would get Regina no matter what.

Blaine sat at granny's diner, finishing up his breakfast for one. Sipping his coffee, and looking at the newspaper, the bold tittle
'New Girl'. Not very creative, but it was basic town gossip. Not much happened in a small town...
Or so they thought.
Blaine scoffed at the paper, scanning through the story, flinging it lightly to the side. It turned on the counter, his jaw stiffened.
He still had the hat throw.
He let out a sigh and paid for his meal, walking out into the town. He put his hands into his pockets, looking at the cool morning air. The sun was almost up fully now, the pink from the sky disappearing.
It was nice day for a walk, so he might as well take his time.
People doing their usual routine, as always. Normal. He remembered why he never went on walks now.
He looked down at his feet when he heard people murmuring, one exclamation of "what's that!" Caught him by surprise.
He shot up, looking at the purple cloud coming his way. He got a strange feeling from it, as if it was full of power... perhaps? Magic?
The cloud washed over the town and the people. Suddenly, everyone stopped. Looking around confused.
Blaine's lips curled into a grin, watching them all.
They remembered...
That only meant one thing.
He ran.
Never hesitating.
Kurt dropped his broom from sweeping up the shop. He tensed up. His daughter, he cut her hair the other day, he didn't even know and... Blaine, why did he say those things? He was an idiot. He ran out, not caring of his coat or apron still on. He needed him.
Blaine saw Kurt running, his grin widen as he sprinted to him now, nothing was in the way, nothing could stop him.
No curse or wall.
Kurt sniffled a sob, seeing him. Before he knew it, he was being embraced by his husband. Kurt cried out as he held onto him tightly. He forgot his own husband, he saw him daily, never knowing his soulmate was right there.
Blaine was crying to. He wasn't alone, Kurt was his again, he knew he wasn't alone anymore.
Kurt cupped his cheeks, studying his husband's face with a wide smile. He laughed softly, as he cried.
Blaine cried smiling at him, leaning his head to Blaine's, pressing his lips to Kurt's, sighing at the old taste. Kurt kissed back softly, pressing himself as close as possible to his husband.
They finally parted for breathe, shaky and smiling wide like an idiot.
"Hi."
Blaine said softly smiling at him.
Kurt laughed softly smiling widely back, as he kept a tight grip on him, making sure he would never loose it again.
"I love you too."
Kurt smiled looking at him.
Blaine cried out a laugh smiling at him.
"I know."
He mocked.
Kurt laughed and hugged him close,
"Elizabeth!"
He realized looking at Blaine.
Both eyes widen, running to the school, hand in hand.
The kids were being let off the bus, Kurt and Blaine stayed hand in hand, seeing if they would spot their little girl. Blaine trembled, he was starting to question if all this was even real, Kurt's sweet voice broke him out of his thoughts, he's so glad it was able to do it once again.
"Elizabeth!"
Kurt cried spotting her. Curly dark brown hair, a perfect combination of Kurt's and Blaine's, and his blue eyes. She smiled widely tearing up, spotting.
"Dad!"
She cried running up hugging him.
Kurt fell to his knees hugging her tightly, sobbing at the feel, holding his daughter he thought he would hold again. She cried with him holding him close, she looked up seeing Blaine,
"Papa!"
She cried to him.
Blaine allowed a few tears to escape going down with Kurt, hugging both tightly in a hug.
Everything was messy, confusing, two lives clashing into one, pieces yet to be filled and found. But he was whole again. He would never be alone from here on out.
I hope I made you cry. This is inspired by OUAT, mainly Jefferson. I've been going through a phase. But yeah I hoped you liked it.
