5.) Stormy Weather Round Two
The next day, I get to school later than I usually do. Yesterday's training, as I said, made me incredibly sore, so it hurts to move. I awkwardly walk, cringing in pain as I go up the stairs to my seat. I slowly take a seat.
"Mirabelle, are you okay?" Nathan asks. "You look like you're in a lot of pain."
"Yeah, just really sore from training yesterday," I say. "I should be better in a few hours. My pain tends to last for a few hours then disappears."
"Well that's good."
"Yeah." We begin the lesson for today. She tells us to turn to a certain page in our textbooks before I remember something. "Crap. I forgot I have a photo shoot after school!"
"Mirabelle," Bustier says firmly. "Please don't shout in class. It's nice to know that you have a photo shoot after school, but it's not important with what I'm discussing."
I lower my head. "Sorry, madame..."
She returns to teaching as I doze off. The many class periods go by and eventually it's the end of the school day.
"See you tomorrow, Mirabelle, good luck on your photo shoot," Nathan says, gathering his materials since the bell just rang.
"You too, and thanks!" I reply, packing my stuff in my backpack.
We wave each other goodbye, and I'm left in the classroom, stuffing the last few papers in my bag. I hear footsteps coming towards me and a shadow soon looms over me.
"Hey, Mirabelle."
I turn to look at the owner of the voice to see Adrien. My thoughts immediately turn to last night, and I quickly divert my gaze from him to my backpack to hide my flushed cheeks. "H-hi, is there something you n-need?"
"Did your parents not tell you?" he asks.
"Tell me what?"
"That the photo shoot you have today is going to be with me."
My head spins towards him so fast you could hear the whoosh. "W-what?! I wasn't told of that!"
He chuckles. "Yeah and I'm riding with you to our shoot."
"Oh, g-great..." I murmur. "Well, walk with me to my locker. I gotta g-grab and deposit a few things."
He smiles. "Sure. I actually do too," he admits and we leave the classroom together to the locker room. We gather whatever we need and meet at the door to the locker room.
"I can't believe they didn't tell me I'd be modeling with you," I grumble, knowing he could hear me as we walk to the car parked out front.
"It was apparently a last minute thing," he says. "I got a text during lunch."
"H-hold on, let me grab my phone," I say and go to my bag. Flamme hands me my phone, and I check my messages. "I didn't get one."
"That's strange."
I place my phone back in my bag before climbing into the car. Adrien follows after and the chauffeur closes the door behind him. "Yeah."
"You don't look happy to be modeling with me."
"N-no! That's not it! I'm happy to model with y-you it's just that I wasn't expecting it," I admit quickly. Jeez, Mirabelle! Get yourself together! You're not a pansy!
"True."
"Well, want to continue our conversation when we met?"
"What would that be?" he asks.
"How you have a crush on Ladybug," I admit.
"Actually... I don't think I do anymore."
"What? Really?"
"Yeah, I don't know what my feelings are anymore."
"Strange," I say. "Well, who's your favorite superhero?"
"Chat Noir, obviously," he admits without a second thought. "What about you?"
Aren't you full of yourself? "Well, fake superheroes I'd choose Wolverine, but real ones? I'd choose Chat Noir too."
"R-really?!"
"What? Is it that surprising?" I ask.
"N-no, not really... I'd thought you'd like Ladybug or Kitsune..." he mutters. "What... is it that you like best about him?"
"Well, for one, I bet he's extremely attractive under that mask. His face structure, eyes, and hair color is to die for," I tease. "I wonder who he is? Wonder if I know him? I bet he's really sexy."
His face flushes, and he turns to look out the window. "Y-you think so?"
"I know so. You know, he looks a lot like you," I admit.
He tenses, and he whips his head to me. A look of panic crosses his features, and I act like I don't notice. A few minutes pass before his panicked look becomes a smirk. "So you're saying that I'm attractive?"
"Well of course you're attractive," I say. He grins. "I mean you are a model, you kinda have to be."
His grin turns into a pout as I giggle to myself.
"You're mean..."
"Funny, you said I was 'too nice' before."
"I take it back."
We laugh right as the door opens for us to get out. He exits first then I come next. Our modeling destination is the park, as usual. Victor, our photographer, is there putting up the finishing touches to the set.
"Victor," a man says. "Mirabelle and Adrien are here."
"Oh good!" he squeals. He looks to us and ushers us into the separate changing rooms to get dressed. Once we finish, he shoves us toward the fountain. "Let's get modeling!"
"Yes, monsieur," I say and pose along with Adrien.
He begins taking pictures but starts to shake his head. "No, no, no! This is not right! You're modeling together so act like it!"
"What are we supposed to do?" Adrien asks.
"Act like a couple or something!" Great. Adrien and I look at each other, wondering what to do. "There you go! Gaze into each other's eyes! Hold hands! Do couplely things!"
I sigh. "This is just for work. N-no funny business."
"I-I know, don't worry."
"Then let's do this," I say, holding both my hands out in front of me. He takes a hold of them, and we step closer to each other, leaving maybe only a few inches between us. We gaze into each other's eyes, but our eyes wander to different parts of our face, taking in all the features of our faces. His eyes are so green. It's hard to find anyone with green eyes anymore.
"Perfetto!" Victor gushes in Italian. "Another pose!"
"Put me on your shoulders," I say.
"What, why?"
"It's a cute couple thing. Smile like you're having fun," I say, climbing on his shoulders. I spread my arms out wide and give a big smile. Adrien chuckles as he walks me around.
"Amazing!" Victor comments. He takes enough pictures and tells us to change.
This time Adrien takes charge and throws me over his shoulder and carries me with one arm.
"Hey!" I fakingly pout. "How'd you become so strong?" Like I don't know.
"I work out a lot."
We once again change poses to where he's wrapping his arms around my waist from behind. Next pose he carries me princess style. We do a few more poses before Victor is satisfied with the pictures he took.
"Wow," I say. "Who knew you could be romantic?"
He gasps. "That hurts! I have you know I love romance."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"I bet you read all kinds of fanfiction mainly anime," I say.
"Guilty."
"What really?! I was kidding!" I fuss. "So, is it anime fanfiction? Do you like anime?"
"Yep."
"I can't believe I've met a fellow otaku."
"Wait, you like anime too?"
"Does Natsu eat fire?" I ask.
"You are!" he squeals. "Wow."
I laugh. "Looks like that's another thing added to our list of similarities."
"I guess so," he says. "What else is on that list?"
"Both models, parents too busy for us, same school and classes, same age, rich," I say. And both superheroes.
"Yeah, that sounds about right."
The area suddenly turns dark, and we look up to see a large black cloud hovering over Paris. Lighting sparks from it and thunder follows. A loud explosion is heard nearby, and we turn to see a floating figure in the sky with a dark parasol. The explosion was from a billboard sign being blown to pieces and, now that I think about it, that billboard had an advertisement with me on it. Strong, cold winds begin to blow through the park.
"Ah ha! There you are Mirabelle! Prepare to die!" the girl in the sky speaks.
"Stormy Weather?! Why does she want to kill you?" Adrien asks.
"I don't know!" I shout.
"I've been beaten at my own game! She won the awards for best dressed and most popular teenage girl of Paris!" Stormy shouts. "And she wasn't even there to accept the award but still won it anyway!"
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that competition..." That was today? I thought that was tomorrow. Why didn't Gabrielle mention that to me? She's in charge of all my events. Is she out of it or something? I should've been at that.
I get so lost in my thoughts that I don't notice the lightning bolt headed for me. Luckily, Chat rescued me by whisking me out of the way.
"You know, when someone's trying to kill you, you don't stay out in the open and zone out. That gives them a big chance to kill you," he says, pole vaulting to the top of a nearby building.
"Yeah, probably," I admit.
"Mirabelle! No matter where you go I will find you!" Stormy yells, flying up to where we are.
"I'll distract her while you go hide!" Chat says, twirling his staff.
I firmly nod and dart down the stairwell of the roof to the lower floors. I get into the bathroom.
"Time to transform?" Flamme asks.
"Yeah, time to–" I begin but am cut off by the door slamming open and Stormy coming through. Flamme quickly hides in my jacket pocket.
"There you are!"
"Run!" Chat shouts, jumping to attack Stormy but gets blown back.
I run to the window, fling it open, and look down to see how far up I am. From what I can tell, I'm three stories up. Chat gets thrown into me, and we go tumbling out the now broken window. I get a few cuts along my arms and chest.
"Crap!" I shout. "I wasn't ready! Damn that hurts too..."
Arms wrap around my waist and I'm hoisted up with Chat. "I got you, purrincess." He begins pole vaulting away from the building. I turn to wrap my arms around his neck in case he drops me. "Don't worry I'm not gonna drop you. Unless that's not what you're worrying about and instead you're trying to get closer to this handsome cat."
"Don't even dream about it, lover cat," I warn.
He chuckles.
"Chat!" a voice shouts.
We turn to see Ladybug swinging next to us. "Ladybug!" Chat says.
"Wait, Mirabelle? Why are you holding Mirabelle?" she asks.
"If you haven't noticed, Stormy Weather is back, and she is after Mirabelle," Chat replies.
"Because I won an award she didn't," I say.
"She's persistent," Chat says.
"Watch out!" Ladybug shouts and tackles us.
A lightning bolt passes by as we tumble to the ground.
"Ow ow ow ow!" I moan once I try to move. "A better landing would be nice. I don't have superpowers like you two. It really hurts when I'm smacked to the ground."
"Sorry, but it's better than being electrocuted," Ladybug says.
"I think I broke something..." I grumble, slowly sitting up.
Chat scoops me up and begins running. "Hold on tight!"
"Don't have to tell me twice!" I yelp, gripping onto his suit.
"Stop protecting her!" Stormy shouts. "I promise I won't inflict a lot of pain if you give me your Miraculouses!"
"Not a chance, Stormy Weather!" Ladybug shouts.
Stormy summons hail the size of golf balls to rain down on us.
"Kitsune would be great to have right now!" Chat fusses, pulling me close to him as he twirls his staff to block the hail.
"Well, maybe she's a little preoccupied at the moment," I grumble.
"With what?" Chat asks.
Oh shit. I said that outloud? Crappers. Him and his cat hearing too. "I don't know maybe she's trapped somewhere or sick."
"Maybe, but we can't always rely on Kitsune," Ladybug says.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Chat and I ask rather annoyed.
"I didn't mean it like that. I'm saying that whenever a situation occurs where she would be useful, we need to be able to solve it on our own too."
"I see," Chat murmurs. "Now we need to figure out something fast because I don't think my arms can spin anymore without falling off."
The street suddenly becomes a sheet of ice, the hail stops, and a strong wind blows straight at us, causing us to slide down the street and separate.
"Mirabelle!" Chat and Ladybug shout.
They're slid away from me and each other as Stormy slowly etches closer to me. The sheet of ice below me ends and my butt hits tar. The wind stops blowing me and Stormy hovers a few feet over me. She laughs wickedly and aims her umbrella at me.
"Any last words, Mirabelle?" Stormy taunts.
I smirk. "Yeah, kiss my ever loving ass!" She shoots the beam, and I kick her umbrella up so the beam doesn't hit me.
"Arrgh!" Stormy fusses and begins to continuously shoot at me.
I dodge all the beams as best as I can narrowly getting hit a few times. "Any day now superheroes!"
"Sorry," Chat says, grabbing me out of the way. "We gotta stop meeting like this."
"As long as you get me outta trouble we won't have to," I retort.
"Then I'll keep you in trouble because I like when we meet."
I laugh. "Do you always flirt like this?"
"Yes," Ladybug answers. "All the time."
I giggle as Chat pouts. "I have an idea. Let me be bait, and I can get her parasol away from her."
"Absolutely not!" Ladybug fusses. "I will not win in a way that might cause you to get hurt."
"You already hurt me," I admit.
"That wasn't intended."
"I'll have you know that I'm a lot tougher than I look," I snap.
"I'm sure you are, but we can't risk it," Chat says. "You're too important."
I raise my eyebrow at him. "Huh?"
"You're a model," he says quickly. "You have a big reputation in Paris."
"So do both of you," I scoff.
They continue dodging attacks while we talk. Stormy eventually gets annoyed and flies up high in the sky and shoots a beam into it. All the clouds bunch together and turn dark then start to swirl in a vortex. The beginnings of a tornado.
"I think now would be a good time to use the lucky charm, Bugaboo."
"Lucky charm!" she shouts. "Mirabelle face balloons?"
"Whoa, that's cool!" I say. "I want one!"
Ladybug looks around to formulate a plan in her head. "Okay, I have an idea. Chat, I'm gonna need a lift."
She releases the balloons to have them fly into the sky in all directions to grab Stormy's attention. Stormy gets distracted and begins zapping the balloons. Ladybug runs at Chat, and he flings her up into the air. She grabs the parasol and throws it down to the ground, releasing the akuma. She swings down, purifies it, throws the lucky charm in the air, and everything returns to normal.
"Pound it!" Chat and Ladybug say, fist bumping.
Reporters flock around us, and I see Alya mixed in the crowd. They ask us all sorts of questions, and Ladybug eventually leaves because her Miraculous was beeping.
"Well, shall we go, purrincess?" Chat asks me. "I can take you home."
"I actually have to return to the park that you saved me from. I was in the middle of a photo shoot with Adrien Agreste," I say. "Oh no! I hope he's okay! I would never forgive myself if he was hurt!" I should've gone into acting instead of modeling.
"I'm sure he's fine. I'll take you to him," Chat says, wrapping an arm around my waist and pole vaults away from the crowd of reporters.
I wrap my arms around his neck to hold me steady. "But what if he got whipped up into the tornado or something?"
"He's a big boy. He can protect himself."
"Pffft!" I hold in a laugh. Oh shit! Oh shit! No fricken way! Did he really just say that?! Hahaha! "Sorry... s-sorry. Haha..."
"I don't see what's so funny. He's capable."
"The only way he'd be capable is if you were him!" I laugh.
He ignores me after that and drops me off at the park. I keep an eye on where he's going to transform out. I decide to begin to act like I'm looking for him.
"Mirabelle!? There you are! Are you okay?! You're not hurt are you?! I'll get that Chat Noir if you are!" Adrien shouts, running up to me.
You're such a piece of work. I laugh inwardly. "I'm fine, but that was terrifying! I didn't want to show Chat weakness, but I'm shaking inside. I was so nervous and scared to die I didn't know what to think!"
He surprises me by giving me a hug. "I'm sorry that I couldn't be there to help you," he whispers.
I feel my face heat up when he whispers in my ear. That felt... oddly delightful... I was not expecting this. I take in his scent of cologne and melt into the hug. I'm not used to hugs. This feels nice... "Thank you..."
I hear a few clicks from nearby, causing Adrien and I to release each other and look in the general direction to see Victor.
"Beautiful!" he says, kissing his fingertips and throwing his hand towards us. "That's the winning shot!"
My face flushes again, and I see Adrien turning rosy as well. "Well, it's been a-a long day, so I'm gonna go home. See you at school, Adrien!" I say, waving goodbye and getting into my waiting car. "Let's go home."
~The next day~
Once my parents heard about what happened to me, they demanded that I stay home the next day and not go to school. So, here I am stuck at home, bored out of my mind.
"We could watch some anime," Flamme suggests.
"Eeh, not feeling it right now."
A thump is heard from outside my window and we tense.
"W-what was that?" Flamme asks.
"I don't know," I admit, grabbing the katana from beside my bed. "Hide, Flamme." He immediately hides, and I slowly make my way down to the door to my balcony. I peek out the window on the door then slowly open the door. After poking my head out with my katana out first, I fully walk out.
"Hey there, purretty purrincess."
I whip myself around and bring my katana down on the person who spoke. "Haah!"
"Whoa!" Chat shouts, countering it with his staff.
I sigh in relief and recall my katana. That's when I realize the situation and tense. "W-what are you doing here, Chat?!"
"I wanted to make sure the purretty purrincess was okay. I have to make sure all the people traumatized from being a major part in our crime fighting is okay," he admits. "But I obviously wanted to just see you."
"Shouldn't you be in like school or something?" I ask.
"Shouldn't you be too?" he asks.
"I was attacked by an akumatized person. I'm a little traumatized," I lie. "I don't know if I ever thanked you yesterday for protecting me and saving my life, so... Thank you."
He gives me a big grin and hugs me. "You're so very welcome, purrincess."
I return the hug and take in his scent. He smells just like his cologne. "I'm glad you showed up. I was beginning to get bored."
"And how would you like me to fix that?" he whispers in my ear.
I giggle. "That tickles!" I squeal and back out of the hug. "How about you take me somewhere interesting?"
"How about the top of the Eiffel Tower?"
I smile. "That sounds like quite the romantic sort of spot. Is this a date?"
He grins. "Only if you want it to be."
"Let's go, silly kitten."
