10.) Master Fu's Training and Surprising News
Today's the day that I go over to train with Master Fu.
"I see you've been busy," he says once I enter the room.
"Yeah, I wanted to interact with Ladybug and Chat Noir," I say.
"You haven't told them each other's or your identity, have you?"
"No, but they both know that I know who they are."
"You just couldn't help yourself, could you?"
I smirk. "You know me too well."
"I knew you started watching them 2 months ago, but I didn't say anything. It's just in your nature to be sneaky and sly."
"Hi, Mirabelle," Wayzz, Master Fu's Kwami, greets. "Hi, Flamme."
Flamme comes from my bag. "Hello, old man! Hi, Wayzz."
"Hey! You're way older than I am, you little snot!" Master Fu fusses.
I giggle. "Must you two always butt heads?"
"I know, right?" Wayzz says, floating next to me.
"Sometimes I feel like the adult around here," I say.
"I wonder that about myself every day," Wayzz says.
"Well, you're an adult. I mean, you're over like 6,000 years old!"
"Yeah, true."
"Are you guys done bickering yet?" I ask.
They both huff then start to laugh.
"Yeah, Mirabelle, today I want you to learn how to use two Miraculous' at once," Master Fu says.
"W-what?!" I exclaim. "Isn't that like a huge strain on the body?!"
"Yes, and I want you to try it. I believe you're ready to test it."
"So, Wayzz is my second partner today?" I ask.
"Oh, no, you'll have Zorra," Master Fu says, walking over to where the Miraculouses are hidden. "I never told you before, but your Miraculous is actually half of the original."
"Half?"
"You're Miraculous, many years ago, was split in half, creating two Fox Miraculouses," Master says. "When the necklace spilt so did your Kwami. The necklace grew back on both of them and they became two separate Miraculouses. The original kwami was named Trixx."
"So, this isn't the full power of the fox?" I ask.
"Overtime both Miraculouses began to regain all the original power that it had combined. Your Miraculous is at full potential and so is the other one," Master says, opening the box. He lifts up the tile where my Miraculous was to grab another necklace right beneath it.
"Wow, this is sooo cool!" I squeal. "So, is Zorra a boy or a girl?"
"Girl," Flamme answers.
"Is she like your sister?" I ask.
"I guess you can call her that," Flamme says.
"Wait, Master Fu, why didn't you give me the female Kwami?" I ask.
"I honestly didn't know which one I was giving you," he admits.
"E-eh?!"
"Thanks for not wanting me," Flamme says.
"That's not what I meant!" I fuss. "I mean, Ladybug's is a girl and Chat's is a boy."
Master Fu awakens Zorra from her necklace, and she looks a lot like Flamme except with whiskers.
"Nice to see you again, Master Fu!" Zorra greets with a big smile on her face. She notices me. "Who's this?"
"This is Mirabelle, the Miraculous holder of the fox. Flamme is her Kwami," Master Fu says.
"Oh, so you have to deal with Flamme. I know how much work he is," Zorra says.
"Definitely when we don't have any fruit, especially blueberries," I say.
"Hey! I'm not that difficult!" Flamme complains. "If anything, you're more work than I am!"
"We've brought you here so that Mirabelle can practice using two Miraculouses," Master Fu says.
"Oh, how fun!" Zorra cheers.
Master Fu gives me Zorra's necklace, and I put it on immediately. "Now, transform. You'll look exactly the same, but you'll feel very different than usual. We're going to test your powers and, hopefully, be able to stop and control them."
"Hopefully?"
"Just transform."
"Time to transform. Zorra, Flamme, tricks out!" They both go into their respected necklaces, and I turn into a more powerful Kitsune. The power overwhelms me a little, and I waver, having to hold onto the nearby wall. "Whoa..."
"You okay?" Wayzz asks me.
"Just a little woozy, but I think I'm good now," I say, slowly lifting myself off the wall.
"Light up," Master Fu commands.
"I think I might burn down your house," I say, unsure.
"Oh, right. Let's go to the training room," Master says and walks into the nearby connected room. The room is much roomier and nonflammable. We get to the middle of the room, and he turns around. "Now light up."
I do as told and light myself on fire.
"This p-power..." I say, feeling my eyes glaze over. "I-is incredible..."
"Are you still in control?" Wayzz asks.
"F-for now... It's slowly slipping, but I'm keeping a-a firm grasp..."
"Shoot at a target," Master says.
I turn towards a target across the room and lock my eyes on it. I conjure up a fire ball and shoot it at the target. The ball ends up bigger than I thought and completely disintegrates the target along with the ones nearby.
"I don't think I h-hit the target."
"You didn't," Master says. "The power consumed you to be off target. Go again."
For the next 5 minutes, I try to shoot a single place on the wall since all the targets are ash, but continuously miss.
"This p-p-power is... n-not cooperating," I say. "I think I'm g-going t-to l-l-lose i-it..."
"Detransform!" Wayzz shouts.
"T-trying, but c-can't..." The power takes me over, and I lose control of myself. Fire begins to spin in all directions, and Master Fu transforms to get me to detransform, which I eventually do. I pass out on the floor, spread out like a starfish. "Holy crap..."
"Difficult, isn't it?" Master asks, back into his normal self.
"Did you have to do this?" I ask.
"At one point or another," he says. "Do you remember how I told you the strongest two Miraculous are Ladybug and Chat Noir's?"
"Yes, and how combined they have godlike power?"
"Precisely," Master says. "What you just felt was almost the feeling of that power. If we added about two more Miraculouses to that power, you would have the same amount of power."
"I don't want to feel that power or try to control it," I say. "T-that was scary enough."
"I need some blueberries," Flamme says.
"Me too," Zorra says.
"Well, you're lucky I brought some," I say, bringing out a container of blueberries from my purse.
"You're the best!" Zorra exclaims, rushing over to the container with Flamme. They grab it out of my hand and wrestle over it on the ground between Master and I.
"Children, please!" Master fusses with them.
"Shut up, old man!" Zorra and Flamme say at the same time.
I chuckle as Master starts arguing with them.
"Now I see why he doesn't leave all the Kwamis out. You're all a handful," I say.
"Tell me about it," Wayzz says. "So, I haven't seen, at least from the news, you use your special ability yet."
"I haven't needed to," I admit. "A fox just isn't really needed."
"I see."
"Hey, can you sense other Kwamis nearby?" I ask.
"Yes, why?"
"So, Ladybug and Chat Noir's Kwamis know who I am, Ladybug, and Chat are as normal people?"
"Most likely," Wayzz says.
"Why don't they just tell their holder then?"
"That's not for a Kwami to decide. It's for the holder to decide if they want to reveal who they are to another holder."
"Hmm."
After that, I continue to try to control two Miraculouses for 30 minutes. I failed every time and had to be forcibly detransformed a couple times.
"Okay, let's take a break from trying to control two and move to something maybe a little simpler," Master Fu says. "You're interested in superheroes, correct?"
"Well, I am one, so of course."
"No, I mean like comic book superheroes."
"Oh! Yes, I love Marvel way better than DC, but I still watch them. Why?"
"Well, the superhero, Human Torch from the Fantastic Four, have you heard of him?" Master asks.
"Of course."
"So you know his move sets are a lot like your own?"
I gasp. "I never thought of that!"
"You can choose the range of heat of your fire to any temperature, can absorb fire, don't get cold or hot, and can manipulate your fire into any shape you put your mind to," he says. "And if we practice hard enough, you may be able to fly."
"W-what?! No way!" I shout. "The ability to fly... That sounds awesome!! I'm excited to try it!"
"Then let's get practicing," Master says.
We practice flight for the rest of the time I have scheduled. I manage to get up into the air and fly around a little, but don't have full control of it.
"This is hard!" I complain, detransformed, pouting on the ground like a child.
"Well, that's all the time we have for today. We will practice this again next time," Master says. "Go ahead and take Zorra with you."
"What? Are you sure?" I ask.
"Yes, I feel that something special is going to happen soon, and she's going to be needed," Master says.
"Uh... okay? Well, bye Master Fu, Wayzz," I say, waving behind me.
"Ooh! This is so exciting! I haven't seen the world for a while," Zorra says.
"Sssh! You gotta be quiet, remember?" Flamme says.
"Oh, right!" she says.
They both get into my bag with another container of blueberries, thanks to Master Fu. I get in the car and close the door behind me.
"Did you learn?" the chauffeur asks.
"As always. Master Fu is a great teacher," I say.
We drive in silence all the way back to the house. "Once we get inside, your parents would like you to meet them in their office."
"Why?" I ask. "They never do this."
"I do not know. They just want to speak with you."
"Okay," I reply. A few minutes later we arrive at my mansion, and I head straight to my parents' office. I knock before I enter. "You wanted to see me?"
"We have some news that we've kept from you for a very long time that we shouldn't have," mother says.
"What?" I ask. "I'm not adopted, am I?"
"Oh, no," father says. "This is something that happened when you were born though."
"When I gave birth to you, you weren't the only one who was born."
"I'm confused..."
"You're a twin," father says.
"Wait, what?!" I shout. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, why was I taken and not both of us?"
"There was a mix-up at the hospital," father says.
"So you just left without your other child?!" I shout. "How are you so shallow?!"
"We tried, but they couldn't do anything about it. We've been looking for your younger twin for forever," mother says.
"Why are you now telling me this?!" I shout.
"Because we found him," father says.
"Him?" I ask.
"Him, we're getting him later today," mother says.
"You can't just take him from the family that raised him!"
"Nobody raised him. He was in foster care all his life. He was right under our noses the whole time," father says.
"W-what...? He..." I shake my head. "Y-you're lying. This is a-all one giant prank!"
"Honey, this is serious," mother says. "You're coming with us."
"No!" I shout. "I'm not going with you. I'm staying here. I have... lots of homework to catch up on before tomorrow. I'm going to my room." I hurriedly rush out the room and dash to my bedroom. I slam the door behind me and lock it.
"Whoa," Flamme and Zorra say. "That's crazy."
"Why would they just now tell me this?" I sniffle. "This is something that I should've known about. I'm not mentally prepared for a brother. What if we don't like each other? What if he's a thug? What if he tries to kill me in my sleep!?"
"Mirabelle, you're being ridiculous," Flamme says.
"I'm sure you'll like your brother," Zorra says.
"But what if I don't like him or he doesn't like me?" I ask.
"Then ignore him and leave him alone," Zorra says.
"We're going to be living together though!" I shout.
"So? You live with your parents, and you barely see them," Flamme says.
"But that's different because they work. My brother will eat meals with me, go to school with me, walk to his room or anywhere in the house I'll see him."
"Live out on the streets?" Zorra suggests.
"Zorra! Not helping!" I fuss.
"Sorry..."
"Mirabelle, breathe," Flamme says.
I take a few breaths to try and calm myself. "It's not working. I need fresh air. Time to transform. Flamme, tricks out!" I transform, and Zorra hides in my hair. I jump from my balcony out into the streets of Paris and run off to the Eiffel Tower. I move up to the highest point and look over the whole city. Zorra comes out and floats in front of me.
"Are you okay?"
"No, I'm panicked. I'm freaking out," I sigh. "I don't know how to handle this. Zorra, what do I do?"
"Well, calm down first off," Zorra says.
I sigh. "Telling me to calm down is not going to help calm me down."
"Fancy meeting you here," a voice comes from behind me. Zorra immediately hides in my hair as I turn to look at the speaker. He gives me a cheeky grin.
"Chat..."
His grin immediately turns to worry. "Hey, are you okay?"
"N-no... I'm not okay," I admit.
"What's wrong?" he asks, sitting next to me.
"My parents just told me something that they should've told me a long time ago..." I whimper, tears begin forming and falling from my eyes.
"Hey, it's going to be okay..." he says, wiping away my tears with his thumbs.
I hurriedly pull him to me in a hug. "Can we stay like this?"
"U-uh, i-if you need to... I-I don't mind..." he says, gently wrapping his arms around me.
After I calm down some, I speak. "I have a sibling... I never knew about," I say, moving to lie my head on his lap. "I'm worried if he'll like me or not."
"I-I'm sure he will. You have an effect on people that makes them automatically attracted to you," Chat says, looking down at me. "Ladybug and I automatically took a liking to you."
"R-really?"
"Yeah, even if you can be stubborn sometimes, but that's who you are. Foxes are stubborn and so are cats. We aren't purrfect."
I giggle a little at his cat pun. "Thanks, Adrien..."
"You know, since you know who I am, isn't it only fair that I know who you are?" he asks.
"Well, you already know who I am, kitty cat. You have to figure that out yourself," I say. "It's only fair because I found out who you are. Don't expect me to make it easy on you."
He chuckles. "I didn't think you would. Feeling better?"
"Yeah, thanks. You really know what to say in these situations."
"Well, my family isn't purrfect either," he says.
"You really miss your mom, huh?"
"Every day," he says and looks across the city.
I look up at him from his lap and take in his features. He has a really nice jawline, and his skin is flawless. His cheeks have a slight natural pink tint. His eyes complete him, even as Chat Noir. I smile. "I hope my brother is like you."
"Wha?" he says, directing his attention to me. "Why? I'm not a good role model."
"Nice, check. Sweet, check. Attractive, check. Smart, check. Strong, check. What happens around you doesn't define who you are. It's the actions you take that define you. You're the guy that all girls dream of."
"Do you dream of me?"
I feel my face get hot. "N-no... Maybe..."
"Then I don't care what girls dream of me. All I want is to be in your dreams," he says with a cheeky grin.
"Flirt..."
"You know it."
I laugh. "Dork."
"But I'm your dork and you love me!"
I laugh again. "I guess."
"So, you said I know you. Does that mean you're in my class?" he asks.
"Nope! Not telling you any secrets," I say.
"I don't know anyone with orange hair, besides Sabrina, but her hair isn't as long as yours and she's not anything like you."
"Sabrina wouldn't be able to be a superhero even if she had powers. She's nothing without a leader."
"You could be Alix. You're a lot like her, but not at the same time... Definitely not Mylene..."
"I never said I was a classmate," I say.
"Then how do you know the names of the students?"
"I've been watching you, and I've saved at least 3 of them from being akumatized. I've also saved them countless times. You catch onto the names eventually."
"True." He begins running his fingers through my hair and accidentally hits Zorra. "You've got something big in your hair."
I quickly sit up and scoot away. "Uh, yeah..."
"Sorry, did I do something wrong?" he asks.
"No, I just realized I have to do something. I'll see you later, Chat." I blast off across the city, failing miserably at flying correctly but managing to make it to the ground. I duck into the underground railway and transform back into my normal self, exiting out a different entrance with a crowd of people. Zorra and Flamme hide in my hair on my shoulders out of vision from the public.
"That was close..." Zorra whispers.
"Yeah," I agree. I quickly rush home and straight to my room before anyone can stop me.
The two Kwamis leave me and float around the room.
"Your brother should be here by now," Flamme says.
"I guess so," I say. "I'm scared."
"I wouldn't worry about it. If he's mean then you can kick his ass!" Zorra says.
I laugh and sit down in my desk chair. "Of course." I begin spinning myself in the chair, watching my room go by me.
"Don't you have some science homework to do?" Flamme asks.
"Oh! That's right!" I immediately stop myself and pull out my book onto my desk. "Let's see..." After a while, a knock resounds on my door, interrupting my concentration. Zorra and Flamme rapidly hide behind something. "Who is it?" I ask, not taking my attention off my homework.
"It's Gabrielle and your brother. I've come to introduce him to you." Gabrielle is like Adrien's father's assistant Nathalie. She's the one in charge of me and the mansion whenever my parents aren't around to tell her what to do.
"And?"
"And, would you open the door?"
"No."
"Your parents required for me to have you meet him."
"Fine!" I huff, running to open the door and back to my seat before they came in. I don't pay attention to who walks in the room, but I only see an outline of one person, meaning Gabrielle didn't join us.
"Uh, h-hi, Mirabelle..."
Wait? I know that voice! I look towards the person in my room and my eyes bulge out of their sockets. "N-Nathan?!"
"It seems that I've finally found my parents, or they found me."
"W-w-what?!" I shout and jump on him, causing us to fall to the floor. I begin messing with his hair and observing his features.
"U-uh, w-what are you doing...?"
"I'm investigating. Y-you're my twin and have all the same features I do except your hair is red."
"Actually, I dyed it red."
"What?! Why?!" I shout. "Why?!"
"It was something else to do."
"Don't dye your hair anymore. It kills it," I say. "You should dye it back."
"When I need to recolor it I'll do it back to my normal brown color," he chuckles.
I sigh and fall to the floor beside him. "I'm so glad it was you that was my brother. I've been worrying all day that we wouldn't get along."
"I couldn't believe that you were my sister when I found out the news," he admits. "I was scared you'd be disappointed that it was me. I'm not particularly attractive..."
"Are you crazy?!" I shout, sitting up and looking at him. "You're very attractive! You're the most attractive boy in our class!"
"I think that title goes to Adrien."
"Okay, second most, but you could be number one too if you didn't hide under your hair," I say. "Why do you hide half of your face?"
"It makes me feel hidden from the world," he admits.
"Well, no more hiding! That's what got us into this trouble in the first place! Hiding! Hiding shall be no more!" I exclaim, pointing my finger in the air.
A knock is heard from my door. "It's Gabrielle. Your parents would like to see both of you."
"Yes, mademoiselle," Nathan says.
I sigh. "If we have to..."
We exit my room and follow Gabrielle to my parent's office.
"I'm nervous..." Nathan says.
I take his hand in mine to comfort him. "Don't worry, I'm here for you."
He relaxes. "Thanks, s-sis..."
I smile. "No problem, little bro."
We enter the office, and Gabrielle leaves, closing the door behind her. For the first time in my life, I actually see my parents with tears in their eyes.
"Son..." father says, wiping away a tear with a tissue.
"Nathanael..." mother says.
I nudge Nathan forward into our parents' arms. He pulls me with him, and we all crush each other in a hug. I have never known my parents to be affectionate. It's weird, but... nice...
"Our family is now complete," father says.
We release each other, and mother's face turns from one of affection to business. "Oh, no, no, no!"
"Oh, great," I sigh and regrip Nathan's hand for support for the oncoming storm.
"You must change your look! Your hair is much too long! I want to see your beautiful eyes. You must dye your hair back to its original color. Your outfit is just a huge pile of nope!"
Maybe it would've been better if he just stayed in foster care than having to live with my parents.
His grip on my hand tightens slightly.
"I will get specialists to fix you up properly," father says. "When you're a Renard-Flamber you must dress appropriately!"
"I can't believe you touched unworthy clothes!" I exclaim to distract them.
My parents gasp and hurriedly leave to get changed.
"Um..."
"Don't worry about it. I hate it too. Don't expect any affection or attention from them," I say. "They aren't the greatest of parents. Let's go back to my room."
He nods and walks behind me, still holding my hand. We enter my room and lie back on one of the many couches.
"Am I really that bad?"
"It's not you, it's them being ridiculous. They can't handle unfashionable."
"Am I really going to have to cut and dye my hair?"
"Yes," I sigh. "They're very strict and expect certain expectations."
"I can tell."
"They're most likely going to have your hair done tonight. Don't expect to have any time to relax. You'll most likely become a model with me, and we'll be the face of our parents' company," I say. "Also, do you work out or doing any athletic things?"
"Uh, no."
"Well, you will be now. It's either that or have a strict diet. Trust me, the diet is not fun."
"I'll take your word for it," he sighs.
"Jeez... This is weird," I say.
"You're telling me," Nathan says. "What is everyone at school going to think?"
"Oh, wow! I didn't even think of that! Jeez! Chloe is going to be the first to know somehow, and I bet she'll be all over you."
"Gross."
"Yeah, you only have eyes for Marinette," I tease.
He blushes. "I'm not the only one with a crush here."
"What are you talking about?" I ask.
"I see how you and Adrien interact with each other," he says. "You have a crush on him, don't you?"
"Uh, um... No!" I fuss.
"Then it's... Chat Noir!" he shouts, looking behind me towards the balcony.
"Chat Noir?!" I shout. "What?!"
"Look! He's on your balcony!"
"What?" I say confused, turning around to see the goofball himself looking into the room.
His sights set on me, and he smiles then they land on Nathan beside me and that smile quickly disappears. It turns into one of both terror and sadness.
"Why is Chat Noir on your balcony?!" Nathan shrieks.
I sigh. "Great. What a time to show up..." I get up and walk over to the balcony door. "What?"
"S-sorry... I-I didn't mean to intrude anything!" Chat squeaks.
"For goodness sakes!" I fuss, pulling him into the room.
"M-Mirabelle?" Nathan says, looking at Chat.
"Chat Noir, meet my long lost twin brother," I introduce.
"What?! You have a twin?!" Chat shouts. "And it's Nathanael?!"
"You know my name?!" Nathan fanboys.
"Of course, you were the Evillustrator," Chat says.
"Why are you visiting Mirabelle?" Nathan asks.
"U-um..." Chat and I both say, trying to come up with a lie.
I sigh. "I'm not going to lie to you, little bro. He comes over occasionally, so we can chat. No pun intended. He's a close friend of mine."
"Does this mean you know who his identity is?"
I laugh. "Oh, no! Even though I've asked, he doesn't want to reveal himself. Anyway, he was just leaving!" I say, shoving him out onto the balcony. "Stay on the roof out of sight. I'll call you back in soon," I whisper in Chat's ear. "Please, go away. I'm making up lost time with my brother!" Chat secretly winks at me and jumps away.
"I can't believe you're friends with Chat Noir!" Nathan exclaims.
I chuckle nervously. "Yeah, and please don't tell anyone about this at school! Keep this a secret between us."
"I swear I'll keep it a secret."
A knock comes from the door. "It's Gabrielle. I've come to retrieve Nathanael to get him properly dressed and groomed."
Nathan groans but exits the room.
"Today is a really big day!" Zorra says.
"Yeah," I sigh.
"I'm not talking about all of what you're dealing with! I'm talking about my really big day!" Zorra says.
"And what's that?"
"Your brother is going to be my new Miraculous holder!" Zorra says.
"No! Absolutely not! I will not have my little brother going out to get himself hurt!" I shout.
"Can't you see that this is why Master Fu let me come with you?" Zorra says. "Your brother is for my Miraculous."
"I don't agree. He will not be going in harm's way under my watch."
"He needs training," Flamme says.
"I said no! Didn't you two hear me?!" I fuss and groan. I throw my hands up in the air and stomp off to my balcony. "Chat? You still here?"
"Of course, my lady," he says, twirling down on his staff. "I can't believe that Nathanael is your brother. He doesn't much look like you."
"Oh, trust me. Once he gets his hair back to its original, natural color, and you see his eyes, we'll look just alike," I say.
He looks as if he thinks about it. "You know, now that I think about it, you actually do have the same eyes and face shape."
"Good observation," I say sarcastically with an eye roll.
"Anyway, I wanted to ask you something," he says.
"And what's that?" I ask, heading back into my room.
"Are you Kitsune?"
I stop in my tracks as my eyes widen. There's no way he figured it out this quickly. I spin around to look at him and begin to laugh. "Why would I be Kitsune? Where would I find the time to fight as a superhero when I'm busy with school, modeling, gymnastics, language lessons, and ninjutsu?"
"I don't know. Wait, you take ninjutsu lessons?!" he asks shocked.
"Yeah. I had to fight for it before my parents actually accepted," I admit.
"I believe it," he says. "But you still haven't answered my first question."
I sigh. "No, I'm not Kitsune. I'm not like Kitsune. She's more of a smartass than I ever would be."
He makes a face with gestures as if saying he agrees. "Yeah, I guess so."
"Why are you here anyway, Chat?" I ask.
"I wanted to see you."
"Well, today's not a good day. I'm very stressed. Come back tomorrow or something."
"Very well, my lady. I shall see you tomorrow!" he says, stepping back outside and pole vaulting off towards wherever.
I sigh and shut my balcony doors, turning around and sliding down them. I bring my knees up to my chest and place my chin on them.
"You okay?" Flamme asks.
"No, my mind's all jumbled up, and I can't think straight," I say. "I think I need to go to sleep. It's getting late, and tomorrow's going to be a big day."
Flamme and Zorra close the large curtains across the windows as I walk up the stairs to the upper half of my room where my bedroom area is. I get under my covers and Zorra and Flamme come to snuggle up with each other on my pillow in front of me.
"Goodnight," we all say and pass out immediately from the exhausting day.
