Chapter 13: Return
I wake up with the bright morning light shining in my face. I can hear lots of ruckus coming from kitchen, 'It must be Papyrus..' I think to myself gently and rub my eyes adjusting them to the light. "Hey! Your awake!" Frisk exclaims and smiles at me holding my scarf our to me. "I don't think I ever returned this to you." Frisk smiles and gently sets my scarf into my hands. " I smile and warp it around my neck, ruffling Frisk's hair after. "Thanks, Frisk." I then stand up and brush myself off, putting my sweater back on. "Good morning, Papyrus." I say politely and walk into the kitchen. "GOOD MORNING TO YOU TOO HUMANS!" Papyrus grins down at both Frisk and I. "WOULD YOU LIKE SOME MORNING SPAGHETTI?" Papyrus asks, waiting for our response. Frisk nods and sits down at the couch. "WHAT ABOUT YOU, KIT?" Papyrus smiles. "No, I'm alright. Thank you for the offer though." I smile gently and Papyrus just nods and grabs a plate and walks out to the living room to sit with Frisk.
I sigh gently and smile. 'Things are looking up..' I think fondly to myself. I hear footsteps coming from the stairs and it's Sans. He sleeps almost like I did, he only took off his jacket, which he still isn't wearing. "good morning frisk, kit, paps." He says to all of us and we all respond with a good morning. "The extra snow from last night melted from the door so you can go and visit undyne, pap." Sans says and plops down on the couch next to his brother. "OH! I ALMOST FORGOT THAT! THANK YOU, DEAR BROTHER!" Papyrus smiles and pats his brothers skull before getting ready to leave. "GOOD BYE BROTHER, HUMANS!" Papyrus says his good byes and walks out into the snow.
It's around 5:00 pm now and Papyrus still hasn't gotten back. I told Sans that I would leave out into the storm to find him but Sans told me to stau, saying there would be another storm tonight. Sans is looking out the window patiently and Frisk and standing next to him curiously. God, I can't take this. Papyrus might be in danger. "Sans, I should seriously go and find Papyrus.." I say seriously and look over to him. "Kit, no. Your are not leaving out in that storm," He points outside and then looks at me. "Your only human, you could freeze to death. Sans finishes turning back to the window and crossing his arms over his chest. "How weak do you think I am, Sans!?" I yell at him my hands balling up into fists. "He could be in serious trouble!" I yell again. "Papyrus WILL come back. And you are not leaving on a pointless search for him!" Sans yells back with his left eye glowing a bright blue. I stay silent and then scoff, throwing the front door open, my entire body being enveloped in the cold winds. "KIT! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING!?" Sans yells loudly over the howling winds and grabbing my wrist. I roughly shake his grip off my wrist and turn my head slightly. "Something you couldn't.." I whisper and then run off into the storm. In the faint distance I can hear Sans and Frisk screaming my name, but I didn't stop running twoard the forest.
It had been awhile and the storm hadn't died down since I left. But I could see only with the light of my purple glowing eye. "Papyrus!" I yell into the thick, infanate storm. I continue to walk forward for a little while and then the storm just stops, but there is a small layer of fog. "Papyrus..?" I call out again walking deeper into the fog. I then hear the swing of a blade and a thud against the ground. An orange light begins streaming through the fog and I walk forward toward the light. I stop dead in my tracks seeing Papyrus' scarf and armor and an orange souls floating among it. Small foot prints line the snowy ground and the prints seem to be leading in an opposite direction. The fog soon clears and I thoughts are racing through my head. Chara must have done this! Is Papyrus dead, is he alive? I didn't know what to think. I drop to my knees, my head hung low and I feel tears brim my eyes. I barely knew him but I felt like I had known him forever. "Papyrus, I-i'm sorry.." I sob quietly a d the orange soul begins to glow brighter. The soul gently floats over to me and into my hands, hovering. A purple heart then appears on my chest. "Isn't my soul supposed to be red..?" I mumble to myself. I then feel a sharp paint in my chest and I fall lower to the ground, gripping onto my chest. "WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME!!??" I scream in agony as my left eye starts blazing a bright purple, as well as my right arm. I can feel my skin being burned away, but I can't see any of it. I cam only feel it and cry. My vision begins to blur and I soon fall face first into the snow, the fire melting the snow around me as I pass out.
