Mibuchi Reo

“Hey! Give that back to me!” you yelled to the mean girls who are bullying you (again) by snatching the letter you are supposed to leave in a certain person’s locker.

“You’re never getting it back, you otaku!” the girls laughed at you. That’s right, you’re an otaku and in Japan being an otaku has a negative connotation and hence you are usually bullied because of that.

“In the first place, why would you give him a love letter? FYI, Senpai will never notice an otaku like you! Why don’t you just date your fictional husbando or something?!” the girls taunted you again. Being them taller than you, you can’t reach the letter they were holding up in the air.

“It’s not a love letter! Anyway, just give it back to me!”

Then suddenly a tall raven-haired guy with beautiful eyes snatched your letter from the mean girls’ grasp, making the bitches let out a gasp at his action. The guy walked towards you and handed you the letter.

“This must be yours, right?” he said and you just nodded out of surprise.

“He just helped me once again…”

“Bad attitude ruins a pretty face. Remember that girls, okay?” he said to the mean girls before leaving.

The bitches then glared and scoffed at you before leaving you alone.

“In the end, I wasn’t able to give this to him." You sighed to yourself.

[Flashback]

It was your first day in high school at Rakuzan, a prestigious educational institution famous for its high standards. You managed to get in to that school with ease. After all despite being an otaku who spends a lot of time on anime, manga, and games, you have excellent grades on everything. You nearly topped the entrance exam if not for a certain Akashi Seijuro, the captain of the renowned Generation of Miracles, who got a score higher than yours.

You were running late on your first day, as a result of waking up late after finishing a game the night before. Being your usual clumsy self, you tripped on the hallway, making your eyeglasses [A/N: If you don’t wear glasses, like me, then just pretend XD] flew a few meters away from you. You had to wear one as a result of watching too much anime and playing too many games.

“Oh my! Are you alright?” a guy worriedly asked you as he helped you up. You then dusted and straightened up your skirt.

You can’t see him clearly but in your blurry vision, he seemed to be tall and have a beautiful, straight, medium-length black hair. His voice sounds very mellow and gentle and soothing.

“Y-Yes. Thank you…Umm…I can’t see clearly, can you please help me find my eyeglasses?”

“Sure. Just wait here okay?”

“Here! I found it.” he jogged back towards to you, “It’s scratched a bit but it’s a good thing that it did not broke.” Then he put the glasses on you. You blinked for a few times, letting your eyes to adjust.

“I have to go now. You better hurry up too, but be careful okay.” the guy said to you before disappearing behind a corner.

[End of flashback]

You did not have the chance to thank him properly for helping you that day. Since you are too shy to approach him and personally talk to him, you decided to write a letter for him. But those bitches ruined your plan of sneaking it in his locker.

[Few days after]

Your teacher asked you to carry your class’ notebooks to the faculty room. As you made your way to the faculty room while carrying piles of notebooks, you bumped against someone, making you fall on your butt and the notebooks scatter on the hallway.

“I’m sorry!” you frantically apologized.

“No it was my fault. I was not looking. I’m sorry.” A familiar voice said to you as he extended his hand to you to help you get up. You shakily grabbed on his hand as he pulled you up.

“Oh it’s you again.” He muttered in realization. “He remembers me?”

“I’m really sorry.” He apologized to you again.

“N-No…It’s okay really.” You sheepishly replied.

He helped you pick up the scattered notebooks. “Here.” He thought that maybe carrying those piles of notebooks may be tough for you so he decided to help you.

“Let me help you carry these.”

“…You really don’t have to.”

“I insist. Besides this is not a job for a delicate lady like you.” you blushed at his words. It is the first time you heard someone call you a lady.

“Anyway, are those girls still bothering you?” he asked suddenly, breaking the awkward silence between the two of you.

“No.”

“Thank goodness. I really don’t like seeing someone being bullied.”

“Umm…Thank you for helping me that day.”

“You’re welcome.” He gave you a sweet smile. “By the way, I’m Mibuchi Reo. What’s your name?”

“I’m [Full Name].”

“It’s nice to meet you [Name]-chan.”

Ever since that day, you two would often talk together and eventually became close.

“Hi [Name]-chan!” Reo greeted you cheerfully.

“Oh Reo-senpai. Are you already done with basketball practice?”

“Yep. It was kind of tiring but it was fun. By the way, it is Christmas ball tomorrow.”

“Well…you’re right…”

“[Name]-chan…Can I be your escort?” he suddenly asked you, making you blush.

“…Uh…I’m not attending the party…well you see I’m not really used to those kinds of social gatherings…”

“I insist. I’m sure it will be fun.”

“…Okay…if you really insist.” You reluctantly agreed, “But…I don’t have anything I can wear on that kind of occasions…” you admitted.

“Don’t worry dear. Leave that to me. I’ll make you the prettiest girl in the party.” He winked at you.

The next day Reo dropped by your house.

“[Name]-chan, I want you to try this.” He was holding a pretty [favorite color] dress. It looks simple yet very elegant.

“But I don’t think it will suit me…”

“You know, we will never know until you try.” He gave you an assuring smile. You took the dress and entered the changing room.

When you came out wearing the dress, Reo was not able to say a word. You looked perfect in the dress, as if it was especially made only for you.

“Reo-senpai?” you called out to him, snapping him out of his thoughts.

“Oh sorry. You look very pretty [Name]-chan. It really suits you.”

“Really?”

“Really. Do I look like I’m lying?” you shook your head in response, making him softly smile at you, which made you blush.

He made you sit in front of your dresser as he started to fix your hair. He let your hair down, gently brushing it and then he began to set its ends to loose, light curls.

“You know [Name]-chan I really, really like you.” he said straightforwardly, “You are not afraid to show other people who you really are even if they hate you for that.”

“You are so honest to yourself, and I like that.” He smiled at you.

“…I like you too Reo-senpai. You are willing to give anyone a helping hand and you’re so kind to everyone. You’re a really beautiful person.”

“You think so? But for me, you’re more beautiful than I am…much more beautiful than I am.” He winked at you, making your heart race inside your chest.

“You just need to believe in yourself more.” He leaned close to your face as he removed your eyeglasses off. He earned a protest from you, saying that you need your vision more, but he just handed you a pair of contacts.

Reo now started applying make up to you. He opted to make you stick to the light, natural look and when he was done, you can’t believe at the ‘new you’ you saw on the mirror. You never saw yourself that way and for the first time, you really believed that you’re really beautiful as he said.

“Wait, we’re not yet done.” His back faced you as you saw him tinker on something. And when he finally faced you, he pressed his lips against yours and he tasted like fruits. When he pulled away, you noticed that he applied some lip gloss on your lips through the kiss.

He giggled at you a bit when he saw you blushing at him.

He left a bit to change on his formal clothes then helped you put on your strappy heels.

“You look perfect, dear.” He whispered to you, making you blush again.

“Let’s go?” Reo offered his hand to you and you happily took it.

“Hai.” You smiled sweetly at him.
