7: Making Choices
The drama from the night before had left her feeling uneasy, especially with Misha's unexplained absence. Determined to clear the air, she picked up her phone and dialed Misha's number.
"Misha, it's Aisha. I've been trying to reach you. Why didn't you come yesterday?" Aisha asked, her voice filled with concern.
Misha's voice, though weary, sounded convincing. "Oh, hi Aisha. I'm so sorry. I wasn't feeling well. I think I caught a bug or something. I've been lying low all day."
Aisha's concern softened. "I hope you're feeling better. But I was really worried. We missed you."
"Thanks," Misha replied, trying to sound upbeat. "I'll be fine. Just needed some rest."
Aisha ended the call, feeling a bit uneasy but deciding not to press further. She had more pressing matters on her mind. She needed to talk to Veer and sort out the situation with him.
Later that day, Aisha met Veer at a quiet café, their usual meeting spot for serious conversations. Veer looked haggard, his eyes red-rimmed, as if he hadn't slept properly.
"Aisha," he began, his voice low and strained, "I need to talk to you about what happened with Misha."
Aisha's expression hardened. "Veer, you need to get your act together. What were you thinking? Marrying Amrita and then going off with Misha like that—it's a mess."
Veer rubbed his temples, frustration evident. "I know. I'm sorry. I just—things with Misha happened so fast, and I didn't know how to handle it. I've been feeling so confused."
Aisha's tone softened slightly, but her resolve remained firm. "Veer, you're about to marry someone. You need to think about what you're doing. Are you sure you want to go through with this? If you're having doubts, you need to address them before it's too late."
Veer sighed heavily. "I don't know anymore. I thought I was ready for this, but after everything with Misha, I'm not so sure. I need to figure things out."
Aisha nodded. "Do what you need to do. Just make sure you're being honest with yourself and with Amrita."
As Aisha left the café, her thoughts were a whirlwind. She needed to check on Misha, and as a good friend, she wanted to be there for her. She decided to visit Misha's apartment.
When Aisha arrived, she found the door slightly ajar. She knocked softly and pushed it open, calling out, "Misha, it's Aisha."
From inside, she heard Misha's muffled voice. "Come in."
Aisha walked in to find Misha curled up on the couch, surrounded by a sea of tissues. The TV was playing "10 Things I Hate About You," a film that seemed to mirror Misha's emotional state.
"Hey, Misha," Aisha said gently as she took a seat beside her friend. "I brought some soup and thought I'd check on you."
Misha wiped her eyes and managed a weak smile. "Thanks, Aisha. I'm just—feeling a bit overwhelmed. Everything's been so much to handle."
Aisha handed her the soup and settled beside her. "You don't have to go through this alone. I know things have been tough, but I'm here for you. You don't have to put on a brave face."
Misha took a sip of the soup, her voice trembling. "I didn't expect things to get so complicated. Last night... with Veer... it was a mistake. But it felt so real, and now I don't know what to do."
Aisha nodded empathetically. "I understand. We all make mistakes. What's important now is how you handle them. You need to take care of yourself and figure out what you want."
As Misha leaned into Aisha's comforting presence, the weight of her emotions began to lift, if only slightly. Aisha stayed with her, offering support and solace, helping Misha navigate through her turbulent feelings.
Meanwhile, Aman Malhotra, unable to ignore his lingering feelings for Amrita, made a decision. He picked up his phone and dialed Amrita's number, his heart pounding.
"Amrita," he said when she answered. "I know this might sound strange, but do you want to meet one last time? I need to see you."
Amrita's heart skipped a beat. Despite her imminent wedding, she was tempted by the idea of seeing Aman again. "Where should we meet?" she asked, her voice betraying her eagerness.
"Let's meet at your bachelorette party," Aman suggested. "It'll be less conspicuous."
Amrita agreed, her mind swirling with a mix of excitement and apprehension.
As the bachelorette party approached, Veer decided to act on his newfound resolve. Influenced by his conversation with Aisha, he decided to have a heart-to-heart with Amrita and clear the air. He planned to visit her at the hotel, where the bachelorette was being held, to discuss his doubts.
Arriving at the hotel, Veer was met with a festive atmosphere. Guests were mingling, laughter filled the air, and music played in the background. Veer felt a pang of guilt and nervousness as he searched for Amrita.
He made his way through the crowd, his mind racing. As he reached the private suite where Amrita was staying for the night. Taking a deep breath, he pushed the door open.
He scanned the room and his eyes landed on Amrita, who getting ready for the night.
Veer approached her, his heart pounding. "Amrita, can we talk?"
Amrita caught off guard-"Veer, you are here?"
"Amrita, I need to ask you something. Are you really sure about this wedding? Last night, I... I kissed my ex. I know I shouldn't have, but I wanted to be honest with you about it."
Amrita's eyes widened, her face flushing with guilt. "Veer, I—"
Before she could finish, Aman walked up behind her shirtless, his face a mixture of concern and awkwardness.
Veer turned to Aman, his frustration bubbling over. "So, it wasn't just me. You two have been involved too?"
Amrita looked between Veer and Aman, her voice trembling. "Yes, Veer. Aman and I... we had something going on. It was a mistake, but it happened."
Veer's face showed a mix of hurt and disbelief. "I thought we were trying to sort things out. But seeing this, it's clear that we both have unresolved issues."
Amrita stepped closer to Veer, her voice pleading. "Veer, I'm so sorry. This wasn't how I wanted things to turn out. I should have been honest with you earlier."
Veer shook his head, the weight of the situation sinking in. "I should have been more honest with you too. We both made mistakes, and now we need to figure out what's best moving forward."
Amrita's eyes were filled with tears. "What do we do now?"
Veer looked at her, his voice resolute. "We need to take a step back and think about what we truly want. This wedding might not be the right path for either of us if we're not fully committed and honest."
As Veer turned to leave, Amrita reached out, her voice breaking. "Please don't go, Veer. Let's talk this through."
But Veer, feeling overwhelmed, walked away, leaving Amrita and Aman standing together, their future uncertain. The night, which was meant to be a celebration, had become a stark reminder of the complexities and consequences of their choices.
Back at Aisha's office, she was grappling with her own set of challenges. The stress of planning the bachelorette party and the confrontation with Ira had left her feeling drained. She was doing her best to stay focused on her work, using it as a distraction from her personal turmoil.
As the day drew to a close, Aisha couldn't help but reflect on the tangled web of relationships and emotions that had unfolded. The choices they made, the secrets they kept, and the consequences they faced were all a part of their journey. And as she continued to support her friends and navigate her own path, she knew that honesty and clarity were the only way forward for all of them.
