COBRA KAI
( season 2, ep 4 )

SCARLETT ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT FIGHTING DID nothing but create problems. it's true, they do create problems but sometimes when you don't fight for yourself or for others it feels worse and it's necessary. she stood in front of the cobra kai dojo a little hesitant to go in. she had her doubts about karate but she wanted to do this. she walked into the room full of teenagers and took off her shoes at the door.

she made her way through the small crowd and set her bag down in the back. she knew she came just in time because seconds later she heard a voice that she assumed was the sensei. "listen up!" he yelled catching the attention of everyone. "i see we've got some new recruits. eveybody, fall in. in neat rows and lines." johnny said, walking to the front. scarlett noticed the wall behind him that said "strike first, strike hard, no mercy."

scarlett followed everyone and stood more towards the back of the dojo. "time to see what you're made of." johnny looked at everyone and started walking down the isle. "straighten up ginger twins." he stopped in front of two of his students. scarlett bit the inside of her cheek, trying not to laugh at the comment.

johnny was now a few feet away from scarlett and standing in front of a man who was in the back. "sorry, parents can't stay for class. it's an insurance thing."

"i'm not a dad. i am here to kick some ass, sir!" the man responded. scarlett looked over at the interaction and her lips moved into a thin line. "do i know you from somewhere?" johnny asked, tilting his head at him. "oh, yeah, the, um...i sold you the mirror. we kind of bonded, talked about rock bands."

johnny sighed and it was obvious that he was getting frustrated. "look, you're a little old. this is a class for teenagers." "well, i can take them. i'm not afraid of kids, sir."

"does he realized that assaulting children is a crime?" scarlett thought. "and my mom, she doesn't charge me rent, so i just...i got a lot of cash to burn." he continued and took out a bill from his shirt pocket and showed it to johnny. johnny snatched it out his hand and looked at it before saying "we'll consider this a trial run."

"i thought my last group of recruits was pathetic. but if you do what i tell you to do, you'll at least have a chance at becoming a fighter. but to do that, you gotta fight. so, which one of you has the balls to take on the champ?"

scarlett immediately knew who he was talking about and she knew she couldn't possibly beat him. the most training scarlett did was basic sparring with her sister, since her dad had taught her a few things and and scarlett was too young to learn anything before he got sick. and the few times she would come across a martial arts youtube video and she would practice with her dad's old equipment. but other than that she definitely wasn't as skilled as the all valley champ.

she stayed silent and the girl behind her stepped out. "i'll take him on." she spoke up. "oh, you will, huh?" johnny questioned. "i saw your little demo at valley fest. you guys can put on a show. can you actually fight?"

"that sounds like a challenge." johnny was now standing in front of her. "i like a challenge."

"mr. diaz. show little miss hotshot here what cobra kai is all about." johnny walked back up to the front and everyone moved out of the way, giving them room to fight. miguel looked hesitant and was going to ask her for her complete consent she kicked him in the stomach, making the rest of the class gasped. miguel smiled at her confidence and got into position and the fight began but didn't last long. she ended up flipping him on the ground and he was now laying there in pain.

JOHNNY WALKED AROUND STARING AT THE OTHER NEW RECRUITS. his eyes landed on scarlett and she looked up at the man. "you." johnny spoke up and scarlett walked over to the middle of the room. "hawk, show her what you got." scarlett made a face at the name but when a boy with a blue mohawk walked in front of her she understood.

scarlett was aware of who he was and so was he. demetri introduced them last year when him and scarlett were lab partners and after eli became hawk scarlett was shocked by the transformation. and the fact that he was close to going to the finals and she had to fight him made her stomach turn. "i'll go easy on you. scarlett, right?" a cocky smirk appeared on hawk's lips. "aw, you remember, how sweet." scarlett smiled before she immediately punched him in the face.

hawk stumbled and looked back at her, touching his red cheek. "judging by your face right now, i highly doubt that you can go easy on anyone." both of them got into their fighting positions and hawk started throwing punches but scarlett blocked most of them.

he landed one on her head and the side of her face. scarlett broke free and took a second to breathe. hawk tried to swing at her again but she ducked and elbowed him in the mouth, not hard enough to make him bleed. she tried to kick him but he caught her leg and kicked the other, sending her down to the mat. pain shot through her back and head.

he got on top of her ready to throw a punch but scarlett grabbed his fist but he kept pushing it towards her face. "this is your version of going easy, huh?" scarlett looked at him in the eyes. "of course it is." he responded, out of breath.

scarlett's face scrunched up in anger and realized she was able to move her leg up. so her foot made contact with his balls and she wasn't nice about it. hawk got off her as he groaned in pain. scarlett came back up on her feet she remembered a move that she practiced on her dad's old punching bag. the tornado kick.

she mentally prepared herself for it since she haven't done it in a while. she was a few feet away from hawk so she ran over to get closer to him. she jumped up in the air and spun herself around, sticking her right leg out. the side of her foot made contact with hawks face and the force of it set him down to the mat. "ooh's" were heard from the majority of the class. when scarlett landed she looked up at johnny who was staring at her and he seemed impressed. he looked over at the man next to him and nodded. "you're in." johnny spoke up.

scarlett looked down at hawk who was still on the floor, in pain. she held her hand out and hawk looked at it for a second before grabbing it and letting her pull him up. "sorry." scarlett said softly. "no need for an apology. you did what you had to do." hawk looked down at her with a slight smile. scarlett let go of his hand and walked over to the spot she was standing in before.

she was surprised she defeated him. but, she was powerful, not because she wasn't scared but because she went on strong despite her fear. hawk noticed that about her immediately and he admired that.

SCARLETT WAS ABOUT TO WALK OUT THE DOORS of the dojo before she heard johnny speaking to her. "hey." he called out. "yes, sensei?" she asked after turning around. "what's your name? i need to keep track of all the students."

"scarlett cross. there's uh, two t's at the end." johnny nodded while he wrote it down. "do you like the nickname scar?" "yeah, my family calls me that."

"where'd you learn to do all that? not everyone can do a tornado kick." johnny asked. "i practiced a few things with my dad's equipment." scarlett ran a hand through her curls. "he's into martial arts?" "he was. he's...he's not with us anymore."

"well this is dark conversation..." johnny trailed off causing scarlett to laugh. "sorry. i just didn't want to go through the whole why isn't he conversation. but i learned the basics from my sister and youtube." "you have a lot of potential. see you tomorrow, kid."

"bye." scarlett smiled before leaving the dojo.

a/n: the next chapter is gonna be a little bit of a mixture with the end of episode four and episode five she's going to meet the other original characters and basically everyone else in that chapter i also really hate this😀
