Amara Knight

"Zip it already, Amara. I get it. I get it you had to cross countless hurdles on your first date. You have it drilled in my head. Now stop for fuck's sake."

Drew's over-the-edge, exasperated screech had me forming a scowl.

My fist flew all the way up to his bicep, as I grumbled, "That was downright rude, you clown shoes."

A wave of disappointment passed through his eyes as he brutally whacked the stack of papers he had in his hands on the arm desk of the chair before shooting a glare at me.

"And you disturbing my peace wasn't rude, huh? Shit, I was relishing a few moments of silence, but you had to barge in to disturb me."

Completely unaffected by his tantrum, I placed my palm under my chin with my elbow resting on the armrest of the chair, I clicked my tongue. "What got your boxers in a twist early in the morning? The first period hasn't even started yet and you're already on a killing spree. Why?"

When I entered the school, the first thing I did was, impatiently search for Drew in school to tell him about my first adventures date experience. Not being able to find him by myself, I inquired a few students and found that they saw him going to the fourth floor, and I instantly knew where he could be.

I found him lazily sprawled on the chair in an abandoned classroom, snoring with no care in the world. Obviously, I had to scream the sleep out of him to have him listen to me. As a friend, it was his duty to listen to me.

He released a sharp breath through his nose as he annoyingly ruffled his hair. "It's Mrs. Frey and her stubborn demand to have me glued to the practice."

His grumble made me crack into laughter, and his glare hardened, making me seal my lips and press a lock of my finger on my lips. But I couldn't help myself from taunting him. "It was you, who willingly jumped into her open arms."

He continued his grumbling, "I know how I fucked myself with my own hands. I only had one mission: to be closer to Becky and tease her thoroughly. But Mrs. Frey tied me up to herself. For crying out loud, I have memorized every single stage of this fucking musical drama yet she insists me keep on doing it without a break."

Now as I peered at him after what he said, he did look like he hadn't had good sleep in a while. Puffiness under his eyes stained his flawless melanated skin. Poor Drew.

I grinned teasingly as I gently caressed his arm. "Aww, it's okay, Drew. Positive is that you got to be with Becky all time."

"She hasn't been an angel to me either. She constantly threatens me to chop my genital off. Like fuck, what problem does she have with my privates?" He scowled. So typical of Becky.

He then smirked. "But I too am no less than a devil. You know what I am up to?" He wiggled his brows.

His expressions made me frown and when the understanding of what could possibly be going on in his prankster mind crossed me, my eyes widened.

I slammed my hand on the desk. "No way. Don't tell me you're going to pull a prank live on stage."

He smirked and winked. "Well, the audience applauds a worthy show."

My fingers found their way to tap on the desk as I casually mumbled, "I can already see you getting into trouble."

A smile, which could be termed as sinistral, appeared over his lips. Something in the bright sunlit, abandoned room we were in told me he wanted me to hold his hand when he jumps into a bog to help him not drown deep in it.

"Us. Knight. Us." He finally let out what I knew he was going to say.

I raised my eyebrows.
"Us? No way in Prison of Azkaban I'll let myself in. I am laying low after my last detention. God, my mamma was harsh on me. I can't put up with another internet cut-off. Plus, I have decided to be a good girl from now on."

His gaze turned hard as he tried to intimidate me. Keyword: Tried.

"Who are you kidding with, Knight? Though I support you two, I tell you this good boy Ryan's influence is getting hard on you. I am not liking it a bit. He's taking my devil partner in crime away from me."

I scowled. "Me not wanting to play pranks has nothing to do with him. As I said before, I am laying low for a little while because I promised my mother."

No matter how much it itched me to play my infamous pranks, I really needed to go underground for a while.

My stern voice had him raising his hand in surrender. "Fine, I accept you're going under covers, but you have got to help me in this. I am not taking no for an answer, Knight."

I huffed, then pointed a finger at him. "Fine. But I am playing an invisible agent."

His eyes glimmered in hope as he stood up with a grin and threw himself on me, hugging the daylight out of me. "That could be arranged. I so wanna cry right now, my crime partner did not leave me stranded."

I laughed as I encircled my arms around him, taking in the warmth of his friendly embrace. His hugs have always been friendly, soothing, and encouraging. I couldn't deny his request even if it had a maximum chance of tossing me towards another punishment. He was my best friend, after all.

"So, what'd be my role?" I asked, removing my arms from around him.

"You'll be notified, partner." He exclaimed with a wicked grin, making me shake my head with a sigh.

Just then, my phone beeped, indicating the receiving of a message. I smiled when Ryan's name appeared on the screen.

Good morning. Are you at school already? He had texted.

I replied. Good morning. Yes, I am at school.

Ryan: Okay. I wanted to say that I won't be able to meet you until lunch break. Have class tests.

Me: When did you study? You were with me until eleven. Don't you sleep at all?

Ryan: It was only eleven and I do sleep, sweetheart. Moreover, the tests are on topics I had finished long ago.

I could imagine him smirking arrogantly, making me mentally roll my eyes as I hit back a reply,

I texted back: Do not boast, genius.

Imagining Ryan laughing at my comment made me laugh myself as well. However, my body jerked with a high volt shock when Drew's teasing comment reached my ears.

"Ah ha, sexting already?"

My eyes widened at his boldness. But again what else could have I expected from Drew, the flirt master?

"What? No, you twerk!" I smacked him on his arm, my face turning hot.

"Why so shy?" He appeared to be surprised as if expecting the complete opposite from me. "You already had your first date. You two should be talking about stuff by now. Wait-Don't tell me that genius boyfriend of yours talk only about studies. If it's true then you seriously need to improve your conversation, real bad. I doubt if that innocent good boy even has the satisfactory kissing ability."

Innocent would not be the word I'd use for Ryan in this context. Yes, he has always been a decent guy what he should be like, but he knew about... Stuff, which was a plus. I went back to the day I had my first kiss. Ryan had made me explore the sensations within me that I hadn't explored before. The kiss had left me craving for more.

As if Drew had come to school to get beaten by me, I again punched him, but this time in his gut, making him let out a small 'oomph'.

"Don't assume things." I retorted. "We have pretty good conversations and FYI, he's a real good kisser."

"Aww, my innocent lamb." He patted my head as though petting his favorite pet. "How would you know he's a good kisser? Because he's the only one you've ever kissed. Maybe... have other girls kiss him and ask them about their experiences?"

My eyes narrowed at him. He was messing with me. This mastermind macadamia nut knew that provoking me would make me lunge at him and rip his hair out of the roots and indulge in a messy fight, making us end up in another detention, which would free him from Mrs. Frey's claws.

What he did know, but did not want to show was that I wouldn't get into his trap that easily.

So, I passed him a tight-lipped, sweet smile, stood up from the chair, took my bag, and made my way out of the classroom. But not before stomping on his foot, hard, and saying,

"Next time you say something outrageous like this, the search team will find your skeleton hanging on the tallest tree in a jungle."

"Ow, Knight. What the fuck! I was just kidding with you and you know it. You didn't have to crush me under that elephant foot of yours! I don't understand why you girls are after my dear body parts!"

He yelled after me, limping on his feet as he followed me out, making me roll my eyes. I didn't stomp that hard, did I? I lowered my eyes to my shoes and found that I had worn hard-sole sneakers. That must have hurt him. Well, he deserved it.

:::::::::::::

During lunch break when I, along with my friends, was headed to the school's cafeteria, Tory came and blocked my way. I told my friends to go ahead as I needed to settle things with Tory.

"Have you given a thought about forgiving me?" He inquired hopefully, uneasiness emitting his body.

"I forgive you," I mumbled without a delay. I believed by now he must have understood where he was wrong and he did have apologized enough.

His eyes widened. "You do? For-for real?"

A hesitant smile dared to appear on his lips, but when I nodded my head along with an encouraging smile, his lips spread into a grin, and he jumped on me.

"Ah, thank you. Thank you, Amara. I promise I won't upset you again."

His embraces were never friendly like Drew's, they were rather awkward. But I never exhibited it to him.

Still gripping me in his embrace, he mumbled, "I am glad we are back at what we were. I missed being with you."

I patted his back. "I missed hanging out with you, too," I mumbled.

While I mumbled that, my gaze landed on Ryan and his friends making their way to the cafeteria. Ryan saw us and instead of turning towards the cafeteria, he marched up to us and cleared his throat.

Tory, still embracing me, mumbled something that goes unfathomable to me before he released me from his hold to stare at Ryan, who had his hard gaze fixed on him. Something told me they would end up arguing, so I took matters of separating them into my hands before they even started.

"Uh, Tory, I'll meet you inside the cafeteria; I have something to discuss with Ryan."

With that said, I gestured for Ryan to follow me and we walked past the curious stares of Austin, Illiana, Zoe, Owen, and of course, Tory. I led him down the corridor where there wasn't much crowd; only a few students lingered here and there.

"Hey." I smiled, waving at him.

"You've eventually forgiven him. I completely respect your decision, but he needed to be punished with your avoidance a little more." He mumbled, not appearing pleased with what I had done.

I let out a gentle, yet heavy breath. "I had to, Ryan. I am not going to keep the grudge for life. But yes, I'll be careful from now on."

"You better be." He pointed out gruffly, making me roll my eyes.

"Hey," He abruptly grabbed my left wrist, surprising me. "The watch suits you. I chose the right color, didn't I?"

A satisfactory smile appeared over his lips as he observed his gift wrapped around my wrist. The navy blue strap did glorify my wrist.

"Yeah, you did." I grinned. "Even dad complimented when he saw it."

"Well, he was bound to like it... because I choose the best." He wiggled his eyebrows playfully.

I smirked teasingly. "If it's your way of saying I am the best, then, thank you."

"You really are one uniquely creative being when it comes to answering back." He laughed, tilting his head. I laughed, too.

"Hey..." He added. "Umm, would you like me to drop you off at home after school? You know, we won't be able to meet after we reach our homes. So, maybe, we could spend some together before heading home?"

The mischievous me began to roar to life, making me grin sweetly. I stepped closer to him. "That's a great idea...but I'll only go with you on one condition..."

He raised his eyebrows. My grin widened. "I'll drive your motorcycle."

He displayed his full set of teeth, arising hope inside of me, but what he rudely said next neutralized my soaring hope.

"No!"

In all honesty, I had expected the same response from him.

He covered my face with his palm and shoved me away from him. "If that's your condition, I'd prefer to stay connected with you via text or call than spend time with you."

"Hey, you're being rude," I grumbled. I childishly crossed my arms. I wasn't offended but wanted to play with him a little.

"You were supposed to be sweet and give in to my demands without objection now that I am your girlfriend," I mumbled with a fake hurt exhibiting on my face.

"Well, sweetheart," My heart eloped my chest when he called me sweetheart. It was the way he pronounced it. Ah!

"You are certainly living in delusion if you believe that I'd be honey glazed now that I am your boyfriend. Too much sweet is bad in anything."

I rolled my eyes. "I don't want you to be honey dipped anyway. It'd be unsettling and boring if you gave in to my nonsense demands. I was just kidding, okay?"

He flicked my nose. "Good. Now, let's go back to the cafeteria, they are waiting for us."

"Yeah, sure. But before we left..." Biting the wall of my cheek, I roamed my eyes about the corridor to look if we were being watched and found us exempted from stares.

I closed the gap between us and quickly pecked his lips, leaving him grinning like a fool. "Just a peck?"

"It's enough for the day. Now, let's get going." I winked.

I was about to march away when he tugged my wrist, pulled me to him, and gave me a quick yet passionate kiss, leaving me giddy.

"Let's go." He mumbled and made his way to the cafeteria, with me following him, but we entered together.

In the cafeteria, as soon as I was seated with my friends, Becky nudged me since I sat next to her. "Hmm, hanging out with Ryan. Making an entry with Ryan. What is it you're not telling us?"

I slapped away Drew's hand that almost snatched my lunch box if I wasn't quick enough to notice as I absentmindedly replied to Becky, "There's nothing."

I heard her scoff. "Of course, nothing."

I struggled to save my lunch box from Joshua when I heard a curious question coming from none other than Tory.

"Hanging out with Ryan? Where?"

That made me sigh. I passed a pointed look at Drew and Joshua, warning them not to touch my lunchbox before I focused on Tory. "Oh, Ryan and I went to a Tulip field in our area to buy tulips and we bumped into Becky there. That's all."

Drew, who was sitting to my left, shifted closer to me and whispered, "That's all? You're not going to tell them about the kiss, huh, Knight?"

He earned a nudge from me as I whispered back, "Zip it, or I swear I'll make you fertilizer for my newly bought tulip plants."

I just adore Amara and Drew's friendship. 🥰
I have drafted their friendship based on me and my guy best buddy. We are exactly the same as Amara and Drew. I feel so lucky to have such a friend. We constantly make fun of one another, but there is no romanticism involved.

Ryan's POV in a day or two.✌
