Chapter 6~ISABELLE'S POV~A warm Wednesday of February.
After done learning math in this second hour class on the second floor, it was almost time to leave. Most of my classmates were packing their supplies on their backpack and about to stand up. But my math teacher, Mrs. Nuñez stopped them to say something.
"Oh, before you all leave, won't we just give a hand for Isabelle, for being the chosen MC for this Saturday's dance party!" She encouraged the students to recognize me as the MC for the dance, which I didn't quite expect. I blushed a little.
I was a bit shocked but when my classmates cheered and applauded for me, I started to chuckle and smiled.
"Mrs. Nuñez, I'd never expected this, but thanks to all of you who recognized me for being chosen." I expressed.
And the best part? All of them cheered and whooped again for me. This is like the best day in my life. No, this Saturday night will be the night to remember for me, my friends and the rest of the school. I slightly bowed to my classmates and my teacher as a respect.
"And... one more thing. We all already know that you are a very, VERY, talented girl. So, we were thinking that would you perform anything in the dance party? I'm pretty sure that you're good at playing piano and you have a beautiful, angel-like singing voice. You can do two performances if you want to." She spoke as I froze with surprise, like my dream to show my talents were about to come true.
"I...I would love to." I laughed; I felt my emotions swirling in me.
All of my classmates cheered once again, as I can see a smile from my teacher. I buried my face with my hands, smiling. I was about to cry out for joy. Suddenly, the bell rung and we all left the classroom but I was the last one, and left the classroom. I was carrying my two notebooks: one for the class I just left, and the other I was about to go (English).
"SURPRISE! Congrats to our girlfriend for being the MC!" Shouts, cheers and applauding from my friends (Elias, Aurora, Chase, Kate, Kevin, Natalie, Tyler, Amanda, Zack and Gwendolyn) I suddenly heard.
I jumped for shock and froze, staring at them. Little tears of joy stuck in my eyes while I laughed; my hand covered my eyes, and the other clutching my two notebooks. Everything surprises me. That's the bonus of having low expectations, expect nothing and people will surpass it with ease. High expectations are just a one-way ticket to resentment, I can't live that way.
Low expectations, the secret ticket to being happy. I walked towards my friends and we shared a group hug. Then, I kissed each of their cheeks as a greeting; I know it was awkward for them since the first time we did that, but now, they just get used to it. I felt happy and surprised at the same time; I expected that today will go to normal like every day. This day, however, is full of surprises for me.
"I wasn't expecting to see you all!" I exclaimed.
"Well, we're here to surprise you, girlfriend." Aurora smiled.
"You guys are the best." I laughed and we all shared a group hug again.
"So, what are you going to wear for the Saturday's dance night, Isabelle? You can imagine that it's your night to remember." Chase expressed and I chuckled.
I already knew what am I going to wear for this Saturday's dance night, but I wanted to surprise them that night. However, I can give them basic hints, like colors.
"I can't tell you what I'm going to wear. But I can tell you what are the colors." I spoke and they agreed, wanting to know what colors I'll wear for the dance party.
"Pink and white." I spoke.
"Oh, that sounds nice. We just can't wait to see it!" Tyler eagerly spoke.
"I know! Hey, Mrs. Nuñez asked me that if I could perform anything for the dance party. I said yes, and now I'm getting nervous because I might have no idea what am I going to perform. I'm like, 'Oh my God, I felt like I'm going to cry.' She already knows that I'm very talented, like singing and playing piano. I..." I spoke; tears were about to fell from my eyes and began to laugh.
My heart kept jumping out for joy, my emotions kept swirling and I was totally out of breath. My friends encouraged me that I'll do great.
"Girl, I can see you're emotional and excited at the same time. This is your very first time being the MC in a party!" Elias exclaimed.
"I totally agreed with her, because I want to show my talents in front of everyone. Well, I guess you guys already know my talents, though." I spoke.
"Yeah, we all know you're going to be awesome!" Kevin exclaimed.
"Well, we only have..." I stopped for a moment thinking what day are we.
"Two days?" Zack spoke as I widened my eyes in shock.
"Two days." I whispered as I always knew that days could go that fast like hours.
"Oh my, I better get prepared in those two days. You too, everyone. You better find those clean, fancy and fashionable clothes for the party." I advised them.
"That includes you, Tyler, because I'm pretty sure that you are obsessed with fashion." I spoke, as I winked at him and clicked my tongue.
"Me, too." Amanda expressed as she pretended to strike a pose, by putting her hand on her waist.
I was surprised that Tyler is not the only one who loves fashion.
"I already know that I'm not the only one." Tyler spoke as he held his girl's arm.
"Students, you have one minute to get into the class. You have one minute to get to the class." An announcer warned all of the students to get into the class.
"Well, you all better get going. I'll see you in lunch hour to talk more about it." I spoke.
"Ok." They all agreed and I went to my English class.
My English teacher, Mrs. Davis saw me entering her classroom, while I just put the notebooks on the desk.
"Isabelle, congratulations!" She exclaimed as I looked up to her, walked out from her desk towards me.
I began to realize that everyone had heard that I am the chosen MC for the dance. I became suddenly popular in the school. Before, I didn't want to be one of the most popular girls or geeks in San Francisco High School. I'm just a simple girl but very intelligent. But this day I expected to go normal as always, was not the same. Now what I expected is that I will never be the same girl. Well, I might feel bad at first, but then I would feel good.
"Thanks, Mrs. Davis." I smiled and she gave me a hug.
I sat down one of the four gathered desks, so I can see and listen what activities we'll do. It's better for me instead of turn my back around.
"You know, Mrs. Davis, I never knew that I would became so popular. Look, I have to take advantage to practice two performances in one of the songs I like. I'm pretty sure it fits on Valentine's Day. My friends and I were practicing one of them weeks ago and we're still practicing it. The other I'm doing a piano solo." I spoke.
"Wow, and what song you're going to sing?" She asked me.
"I can't tell everyone. It's a surprise." I softly spoke and nodded.
"Oh, okay." She chuckled and walked back to her desk.
I giggled and looked down, looking forward what will the party look like.
"Girlfriend!" A female voice suddenly called me; I jumped a little, wondering who called me.
I looked up again and it was Hailey. She is a medium-long, red-haired girl (well, she dyed it, though), wearing a side braid. She wears a pale pink cardigan and a white shirt underneath. Also, she wears blue denim jeans, and glittery, white shoes. I never she could wear so glamourous.
"Girlfriend!" I exclaimed; we both laughed and shared a hug.
"Felicidades!" She congratulated me.
"Gracias, igual." I thanked.
"Are you excited for the Saturday's dance night?" I asked her.
"Oh, yeah." She chuckled.
"I just can't wait to put my purple dress on! Oh, and my hair would be curly, just to let you know. I'm sure you're going to wear extravagantly as the MC." She spoke and I giggled.
"I wish." I smiled.
"You wish? Come on, girlfriend! You got to be perfect!" She encouraged me.
"Well, yeah. But...my outfit for this Saturday's dance night is a surprise. Can't tell no one." I whispered.
"Oh, okay." Hailey nodded.
No one will ever know what will I wear. But also, my deepest secrets.
