I stopped walking when I turned the corner and Dante bumped into my back. Across the street was a beautiful Gothic looking church, the kind you see in scary movies. It old and beautiful that I wished I had a camera.

"What?" Uncle Carter questioned, looking at the church than me.

''I wanna go inside.'' I said, walking across the street as they both disagreed but I was too curious to see what was inside. The building was like a miniature castle with stained glass windows of biblical images. The whole thing was beautiful. When I got to the door, a date was craved in on the stone say 1824. Wow.

I grabbed the rather large black metal doorknob and pulled the door open which was a little heavy. Inside was so beautiful then the outside and only a few people were around since church just ended. Red carpet with wooden benches. It looked just like a church, but something about this church was amazing. Maybe because I like old stuff like this. Everything was vintage.

''May I help you?'' an elderly priest asked.

''Oh, sorry.'' I said. ''I just--this church is beautiful. I just thought I'll look around.''

''Oh, okay.'' he said, coming over to us. ''Always liked welcoming visitors. Where are you three from.''

''California,'' I said as I pointed at Uncle Carter and I. ''And he's from Arizona, he's becoming a priest.'' I said, grinning when I saw him give me a look about him becoming a priest.

''Really?" he asked, surprised clearly as he looked at Dante who forced him a smile. ''Well, that's wonderful. What is all three of your names? I'm Father Brandon.''

''Carter.''

''Dante.''

''Nevaeh.'' I said, pointing at my chest.

''Nice to meet you three.'' he said. He looked at the gloves on my hands but didn't asked. ''Have you three been to New Orleans before?"

''It's her first.'' Uncle Carter said. ''We're here on a job.''

''A job—oh, I see.'' he said, nodding. He looked at Dante, ''You're the first generation, aren't you? My niece Angela wants to do the same.''

''A nun?" Dante questioned. ''A Nun Hunter?"

''Anything in this world.'' he said. ''We all have to do things to keep this world safe.''

"'I thought one of us should go around the manor and check things out.'' Uncle Carter said. ''It'll look to weird if all three of us go. At least one of us will look like tourist.''

''I vote for Nevaeh not to go.'' Dante said and I glared at him across the dinner table as he stuffed his mouth with a bacon hamburger. He couldn't see threw the sunglasses because apparently my new eyes are sensitive to light. And it was a bright sunny day in New Orleans. ''Your ass needed saving last night.''

''He said to go look, not start a fight.'' I said, scoffing.

''He's right.'' Uncle Carter said and I turned in my seat, surprised. ''I should go, I've been doing this much longer and you suck under pressure.''

''But that's not fair.'' I said. ''I'm a Hunter Uncle Carter, if I don't go out to get experience what is the point? What am I supposed to do?''

''Look pretty, only real thing you can.'' Dante said and I glared at him. He was pissing me off with his jokes now!

''Forget who’s the Nephilim is?'' I asked. ''Hmm? I can beat both of your butts. I'm not hungry anymore, I'll meet ya'll back at the motel.'' I said as I got up and walked out of the diner. I angrily walked down the street and crossed my arms over my chest. ''Stupid Dante.'' I mumbled.

I saw in the corner someone in the corner of my eyes but before I could look up, someone grabbed me from behind. I gasped and not even thinking, I turned in the arms and grabbed his shirt, pushing him back against a poll.

I balled my fist, readying to attack but I heard a chuckle. My eyes widen since it sounded familiar and I looked up to see Hadrian grinning.

''Hadrian!" I coldly said as I let go of him. ''Don't a care me like that! I was about to punch you in the throat.''

''Now you know how it feels to be sneaked up on.'' he said and I rolled my eyes.

''What are you doing? Following me?" I asked.

''I was seeing an old friend of mine and I saw you leave the diner. When I realized no one was going to come after you, I thought it would be nice to see you.'' he said, putting his hands on my waist. He kissed me hard against the mouth for a moment, ''I was disappointed that weren't there when I woke up.''

I smiled, ''Really? I wanted to stay so badly, but ya know.''

''I wish it wouldn't have to be like this.'' he said. ''I miss you all day, I keep looking forward until I see you.''

I wrapped my arms around his neck, ''I miss you to. It is hard.''

''We'll really have to sneak around this forever?'' he asked.

''No. Until I'm thirty, then I can either have a partner or choose to be by myself.'' I said. ''But you might not want me by then.''

''I'll always want you.'' he said. ''Even when you decide to get rid of me first because people will think I'm your younger brother and you'll want something I can't give you.''

''What can't you give me, Hadrian?'' I asked. I touched his necklace as he pulled the chain out from my shirt. ''You give me everything.''

''I can't give you a family, be a husband.'' he said. ''One day, not now, but later you will want a family. We can't ever get married, I can't even step into a church and God would never approve. And a child? I won't put you through the pain of it.''

''Because he or she could kill me?" I asked and he nodded. ''I'm a Nephilim though, I would probably survive the birth.''

''Maybe, but I never want to risk the chance of trying.'' he said. ''I don't ever want to risk losing you. I see the heart break, it's why I choose to be cold hearted.''

''Hadrian, stop it.'' I said. ''I don't want to think of the future, if we spend too much doing that we'll miss what's going on now.'' I cupped the side of his face and pecked him, ''I love you, forever.''

''Forever.'' he repeated. ''You'll be the only girl I can probably ever love. No one can fight with and make me crazy for them as much as you do.''

''One day . . . I’m sure there'll be an exception.'' I said frowning at the thought of someone else with Hadrian. But it was true, one day--I won't be here and I don't want Hadrian to go back to be cold hearted.

''Now who’s talking about the future?" he asked. He took his hands off my waist and took my hand, pulling down the street, ''Let go see this lady friend of mine.''

+Hadrian.+

''A fortune teller?'' Nevaeh asked as she looked at the window. ''As in--a witch?''

I nodded and held the door open for her, ''Witches are neutral, they don't choose side.''

''I thought you said she was a friend.'' she said as she walked in first.

''Hadrian and I are hardly friends.'' Yolanda said as she came out of a room. "'You must be Nevaeh, Hadrian Hunter girlfriend.'' she said as she sat down on a throne like chair with vines and roses decorating it.

She looked at me, ''You told her?" she asked, concerned.

''Relax,'' Yolanda said and Nevaeh looked at her. ''You're safe here, no Demons will be able to see or hear us. And I'm no rat, I hardly care. Not the first I heard of this sorta of relationship.''

''Huh?" Nevaeh asked as she stepped towards Yolanda. ''You mean, there are Hunter put there that's been with Demons?"

''You're father been with an Angel, why can't they be with Demons?'' she said and Nevaeh eyes widen. Yolanda grinned, ''I know everything, Nevaeh. That witch in Seattle, Lindiwe, must have not told you much about us. She is a quiet one though, she mostly sticks to herself. Shameful, she is one of the top ten highest witches, the forth I think. The older ones are always the highest.''

''Oldest? She only looked like she was in her late twenties.'' Nevaeh said.

''Witches can be immortal.'' she said and Nevaeh eyes widen. ''We can choose to be by drinking the blood of a Demon and an Angel. Mix them both together and bam, you're immortal for ten years.''

''You're lying.'' Nevaeh said. ''Why be so open about this?''

''I don't care, it's not a secret I need to keep, Nephilim. Demons and Angels can't come after me, they need witches and witches are a dying race.'' she said. ''Nephilim, your kind is rarer though. Hadrian paid for you already though.''

''Paid?" Nevaeh questioned, looking at me confused. ''Paid for what?"

''My ten years are coming up, Hadrian paid with his blood for you to go on a visit.'' she said and Nevaeh continued to look confused as she looked at me.

''I remember you told me once a few months back you had a chance to see your dad again. You don't need to save up anymore.'' I told her and her stared at me with wide eyes. Her eyes glossed up and her mouth trembled as she tried to speak. I chuckled as I put a hand behind her neck, ''No arguing, Uccellina. You are going to lay on the bench and go see him. My blood has no refund, so go do it.''

A smile broke across her face, ''Damnit, Hadrian, you always surprise me.'
