You gotta admit, Dante (Jon Kortajarena) is hot --> lol

''Thanks.'' I said to the waitress who put my glass of water in front of me. Hadrian twirled his spoon around his coffee as he watched me bring the cold refreshing water up to my mouth and chugged it. Fighting Demons is hard work! I even finished the glass and asked for another. Hadrian looked amused as I babbled, ''I get thirsty allot lately, I mean fighting is exercise so of course I'm going to get thirsty and my anxiety isn't help so it's good if I stay hydrated--''

''Uccellina, you're still the same.'' he chuckled and I glared at him before smiling. I felt okay with him saying that even though I knew I wasn’t the same Nevaeh he first met. I was different than her. I was more confident and stronger.

The waitress came back with another glass and I only drank half of it this time. I set it down with a stiff smile as I moved it away from me and Hadrian continued to watch me as he twirled the spoon around.

Clank. Clank. Clank.

''Why are you staring?" I asked.

''Just still surprised to see you, don't want to blink and find you gone.'' he said charmingly making me smile. He looked around, ''I think this is the first place we actually been to without worrying about seeing each other.''

''Waitress probably thinks I look crazy.'' I said, scratching the side of my hair. My hair had been pulled up in a ponytail and it was messy looking. My dress was ripped and I look just like I came out of a fight walking into a twenty-four hour diner.

''Eh, at least badass looking one.'' he said and I scoffed, but grinned. ''And just know, I don't want to know what happened with Felix Trivi, some Demons can read minds.''

''Deal.'' I said, chuckling with him.

''I've missed you, Uccellina.'' he said.

''I missed you to, Hadrian.'' I said. He got up and moved his chair over near me. ''This time I'm not trying to kill you.''

''Even though I told you to.'' he said and I frowned, looking down at the table. He put his hand under my chin and lifted my head up, ''It's okay, we're together again. All that's important.''

''For how long though?" I asked and he hesitated.

''I don't know.'' he said, taking his hand away. ''Armando and I are staying in a town twenty minutes away for here. How long are you here?"

''Uncle Carter and I have to return to Arizona to get new cases in the morning.'' I said.

He reached out and took my hand, ''Then tonight.''

''I wish it was longer.'' I said.

''I do to.'' he said.

I stared at him and all I want is for him to tell me it's alright, that nothing can break us apart but he doesn't to lie to me. I wanted something so badly that I couldn't have and I hated it. I wrapped my arms around his neck, ''Hadrian, I can't move on. I tried, but I can't.''

''You need to try harder then, I'm no good for you. You deserve better. Even, I can't make you choose between me or you're job. That's too much to ask for.'' he said.

''Can't I have both?" I asked, shrugging.

He chuckled, ''That's the part that sucks, you can't. I can't be with you if you're a Hunter and I'm supposed to be your enemy. I'll be with you while you're killing my cousins. It wouldn't work. And we can only imagine what your family would do.''

''I still love you, Hadrian. It's hard for getting your first love. Our love should be something to fight for.'' I said.

''Neither of us can change who we are.'' he said. ''I will always love you, Nevaeh. It could be five years next time we see each other and I'll still love you. Ten years and still love you.''

''Even when I'm a granny old lady?" I asked teasingly.

''Probably.'' he said. ''Just hope by then, you would have lived a full life.''

We stared at each other as we frowned. I didn't want to think of any other life without Hadrian, but I knew he was right. I had known for a whole year, I just haven't accepted it and still haven't. I wanted Hadrian.

My eyes watered up and he brought his hand up to my cheek, rubbing his thumb under my eye, ''Don't cry, Nevaeh.''

I brought my hands ups as I pulled away and wiped under my eyes, ''I'm not.'' I said stubbornly. I opened my mouth, but my phone had gone off. I reached into my bag and answered Uncle Carter, ''Hey.'' I said.

''Nevaeh? Are you crying?" he asked and I got up, walking a few feet away.

''No, I'm fine.'' I said I forced myself to sound normal. ''I'm sorry I left the party, I just couldn't stay. I was upset.''

''Nevaeh, you shouldn't have though. Where are you? I'm coming to pick you up.'' he said.

''No! I'm fine, seriously. I needed time to myself, I'm just walking around. The motel isn't too far of a distance from the Country Club.'' I said. ''I took on three Demons Uncle Carter, I can walk by myself.''

''Nevaeh--''

''I have my dagger.'' I said and he sighed.

''Please be careful, they come out more at night than day.'' he said. ''Hey, did you punch Dante?"

‘‘Uh . . . did he say I did?" I asked awkwardly.

''No, but I'm only guessing.'' he said. ''I'm guess also we won't be getting paid and that's why you made his nose bleed.''

''He had it coming!" I hissed lowly. ''He shouldn't have been there, Dante just wanted to prove he was better than me. I'm the Nephilim! I took on three of Trivi men and I would have gotten him if Dante wasn't there. He got in my way, I made his nose bleed.''

''Pretty hard to--'' he said and I heard a yell. ''Oh relax, boy. Be lucky it's not broken.''

''He's with you?!" I hissed, scoffing.

''Not finding him so cute now, huh?" he asked as he laughed and my face burned.

''I never did!" I hissed. ''He's becoming a priest who's—look, I'm not talking about this over the phone.''

''Call me if you need picked up.'' he said and I hung up, not even saying bye.

I turned around and walked back over to the table, ''So who's Dante? New rival?"

''Of course not.'' I said. ''I just met him, he's a Hunter to and I can't stand him. It's why I was so angry by the pool.''

''Just to keep my mind clear, I don't want to know what happened in the room.'' he said. ''And stops me from wanting him dead.''

I grinned, ''Weren't you the one a moment ago talking about moving on?"

''Yeah, but just thinking of you being attracted to another man pisses me off.'' he said and I shook my head, chuckling.

''Dante.  . .cute but his cocky attitude makes me dislike him allot.'' I said.

''Says the girl who fell in love with me.'' he said.

''That's true.'' I said. "But you have nothing to worry about. If I did like Dante in any way, I wouldn't be here with you.''

''Which Armando would hate.'' he said and I scoffed.

''He will never like me.'' I said. ''Feeling mutual.''

He leaned towards me and took my hands, ''I've decided I'm not letting you go so easily.'' he said, surprising me and I arched my eyebrow. I'm so confused now.''I love you, Nevaeh. I don't care who knows, Demons always fall in love. Some had good experiences.''

''But we just talked about—''

''I don't care anymore.'' he said. ''Look at me, I'm hardly sticking to Incubus traditions. I look how you saw me last year. I'll find a way to be with you.''

''Dreams aren't enough though.'' I said.

''I'll be with you forreal.'' he said.

''Is this seriously because of that call and Dante? Hadrian, there's really nothing to be paranoid about.'' I said.

''I know.'' he said. ''I can't go back to being depressed where I rather be happy with you. I can leave Armando, he won't question since we always part ways time to time. I'll follow you everywhere Nevaeh, and find answers on the way.''

''Hadrian, I don't know . . .'' I trailed off. ''I mean, I am killing your family.''

He snorted, ''I hardly care, their asses shouldn't be dumb. I don't care about them, only you. I'll stay out of your Hunter business.'' he said and cupped my face, ''Nevaeh, you want to be with me right?''

''Well of course, but—a year.'' I said.

''A year of nothing but thinking for us. You trained at home where it wasn't safe for us to be together. You have your own free will now. You still get to be a hunter and I'll be your shadow.'' he said.

''My shadow?" I asked.

"I'll be right there with you,'' he said. ''Lets not waste any more time.''

I brought my hand up and wrapped them around his wrist, ''You know I hate it when you're right?"

''And I just love it.'' he said. He kissed me, totally forgetting we were in a mostly empty diner where the waitress was at the other end watching a rerun of George Lopez on TV. I wrapped my arms around his neck as I kissed him, pressing myself closer him.

''I'll call you when I get there and let you know where we're going next.'' I said to Hadrian.

He nodded, ''Okay.'' he said and when he didn't let go, we chuckled. ''This is crazy. I do not want to let go of you, bella mia.''

''I don't want you to either.'' I said. ''I spent too much time already apart from you just to leave you again.''

''Maybe we should just run away together. Go rent a car and just drive where it takes us.'' he said.

''Now that's crazy.'' I said. I wrapped my arms around his neck, ''No more than three days we'll be apart from each other hopefully.''

''Yes.'' he said. He kissed my forehead, ''I love you, Uccellina.''

I threw my clothes into my bag as Armando leaned against the frame of my bedroom door, ''I still don't get it. Be lucky I can only read Mortal minds.''

''I just need time to be alone.'' I said. ''Even, I shouldn't waste more of your time as you trying to 'fix' me. I can't be fixed Armando, I want you to stop trying. You know I always do better when I'm alone.''

''True.'' he said. ''So where do you think you'll go?"

''I thought maybe South American, I haven't been to Rio in a while.'' I said as I zipped the bag closed and turned to face him.

''Ah, Rio is nice.'' he said. ''Good luck. Hopefully next time we see each other, you'll come back to your senses.''

I flipped him off and he chuckled as he walked away..
