I saw Uncle Carter turning towards a rundown junk diner, ''No, not gonna happen.'' I said to Uncle Carter as he pulled into the creepy rundown looking diner that should have stayed in the fifties.

''I've been driving all night, I'm going to eat.'' he said and I scoffed.

''We're in the middle of nowhere! Have you seen Legion and that creepy old lady climbing to the ceiling? This place looks just like it.'' I said as he chuckled. ''I'm serious, Uncle Carter.''

''A place to eat better than nowhere.'' he said before getting out. I scoffed, stubbornly hitting the door before opening it and got out. He went over to the small diner that had an old fashion store next to it that looked like it hadn't been renovated since ever. It might actually be empty

The hot Arizona desert sun beamed down on me and when we stepped through the doors of the diner. It was old fashion diner you see on TV and there was only other guy eating here. A bored looking waitress was behind the counter and she looked like she didn't belong. Tall, blonde, young, and deadly. I didn't mess those copper color eyes.

''Two?" she asked. ''Go find a booth, don't matter where.''

Uncle Carter walked to the other end of the diner and we sat at the booth. The Demon waitress name Kate put menus in front of us. Uncle Carter order a coffee and I got a soda. We ordered soon and when she placed our breakfast in of us, I took the dagger under the table he held out for me.

''Anything else handsome?" she asked, chewing on her gum like a cow.

''How many in the back?" he asked and she stared at him confused for a moment before grinning. Uncle Carter got up, but she kicked him back down with her white pump heel.

I got up and turned to face the guy at the end. He got up and in a blink of the eye, he disappeared. My eyes widen, but I turned to my right but I shouldn't have turned to my left but the male Demon was there. He pushed me against the counter, the air leaving my body.

I heard him hiss behind me, but using my elbow I jabbed his side and he let go. I back handed him across the face as I turned and I jabbed the dagger threw his leather skin and rough body, but I made it threw to his heart when I heard the blonde Demon cry in pain, the sound hurting my ears.

I joined Uncle Carter side as the kitchen door opened and two Demons came out.

''I got Gorilla man.'' he said about the chunkier Demon who didn't look happy about Uncle Carter comment.

It took more of a fight with the tall Spanish looking Demon, but I got the dagger threw his chest before I knew it.

Uncle Carter nodded and picked up his piece of toast as he sat down, eating like there weren't four dead Demons laying around. I wasn't so calm though, my anxiety was all over the place. My anxiety has gotten so much worse and I had to take some pills to bring it down.

I forced my pancakes down my throat, ''You could have at least told me, I thought testing was done.''

''I wanted to know your skills after waking up.'' he said. ''Father Miguel told me yesterday about this place and how these four would attack the customers after. Now, no more to worry. We should make it to San Alejandro in two hours.''

I touched my shoulders blade where my tattoo was. A beautiful pair of wings were tattooed on my back, making me an official Hunter. I had just graduated from school no more than three weeks ago and I'm already out on the rode with Uncle Carter.

My mom cried when I left and so did Courtney who was still getting use to the idea of the family business. It was hard, but I always called each time I find pay phone. Gotta save minutes of the disposal phones.

It's been two weeks now and today at the diner was the second in run with Demons.

Like always when I'm alone, Hadrian came to mind. I haven't officially seen him in over a year, but a few times he appeared in my dreams. He wouldn't stay long, just enough time to talk to me about how I was. But it's been a year since I could actually feel that kiss or feel him. It felt like so long though and my heart ached for me him, but I had to be strong. I can't be thinking about relationships right now. I have to worry about my job.

Nick was with his father somewhere else around the country and I have only talked to him once. We we're busy though, but I missed his funny jokes. He always made things feel normal. After everything with Hadrian, all my romantic feelings for Nick disappeared. I loved Nick, but as my friend.

Uncle Carter knocked on the door and I threw my shirt on. I opened it and he handed me five hundred dollar bills. I took it since it was my pay for the Demons we kill earlier. Just only five hundred dollars though, you think being a Hunter were our lives are at risk we would get more.

I took the coin since it was my turned and Armando sarcastically said, ''Hopefully not anywhere you'll fall in love.''

I rolled my eyes tossed the coin in the air. It dropped on some part of Texas and I moved the coin, ''Estrella, Texas. Not too far from Dallas.''

''Hmm, not too bad.'' he said. He rolled the old map up and we set out for Estrella Texas.

I was leaned against the truck door as Armando drove from South Dakota to Texas. It was going to awhile, but I don't mind. Driving was always my favorite part about moving on.

I looked around the old Church when the mid-forties priest came out of his office and grinned at Uncle Carter before they bear hugged each other, ''Carter! Dear old friend.'' Miguel said. I haven't official met Father Miguel yet, today would be the first. He was tall, had dark hair, honey color skin, and dressed just like a priest.

''Miguel, how have you been?" Uncle Carter asked and I joined next to him. He put his arm around me and smiled, ''This is Nevaeh, Eric daughter.''

''My, what a beautiful gift from God she is. Nevaeh, I always liked that name because it spells Heaven backwards.'' he said. ''I can see Eric in those eyes of hers, you look like a strong brave lady, Nevaeh.''

''Thanks.'' I said. ''You knew my father?"

''We all went to the same school at one time, though I was with your uncle grade where your father was two years ahead,'' he said. ''Followed in his footsteps, he would be proud I'm sure.''

''I can only hope.'' I said. I thought back to Seattle and how Lindiwe would only consider transporting me if I had five thousand dollars for her. It is possible for me to go, to go see him, and actually talk to him! But I need five thousand dollars and that's a discount! Her prices are usually higher. It's just rare to see a Nephilim come around though.

''So there a Senator in Dallas who by the sources says who can be an Alix. Could explain how he could get to power, but ever since Dallas has been reckless with violence. His name Felix Trivi.'' Miguel said as he handed Uncle Carter a folder. ''I would suggest taking his head off first, he apparently has eyes in the back of his head.''

''How great.'' Uncle Carter sarcastically said.

"Carter, you will go as a waiter and Nevaeh, you'll go as a guest." Miguel said.

"Why does she get to be a guest?" Uncle Carter asked stubbornly.

"It may be Texas, but the high class still like clean shaved people and knowing you, you won't shave that beard." he said and I chuckled until Uncle Carter gave me a look. "Party starts at seven, you know what to do. Wait until he's alone to take him out."

The same door Miguel had come out opened and a young man dressed in all black with a clerical collar. He was tall, olive color skin, and well-to handsome to be a priest! Well, maybe a priest in training because he only looked twenty-one and doesn't dress like Father Miguel. He was strong looking to, like he belonged somewhere else other than a church

"Ah Dante, I was wondering where you went off to." Miguel said and patted Dante shoulder when he joined next to him. "Carter this is my nephew, Dante Castillo. Dante this is a good friend of mine, Carter Brownstone. Nevaeh is his niece."

"This is Dante?" Uncle Carter, shaking Dante hand.

"Yes, sir. I heard allot about you, one of the few good legends I hear about." Dante said and held his hand out to me. I realized I had been staring, so I shyly reached out and shook his head. He chuckled, "Nice to meet you, Nevaeh."

I just forced a smile and nodded as I felt Uncle Carter gaze on me, so I awkwardly looked at my feet.

"Well it's good to finally meet you." Uncle Carter said. "Still surprised I'm going to be seeing a priest fighting."

"Huh?" I questioned as I looked at Uncle Carter confused then looked at Dante.

"Oh, he didn't tell you?" Miguel asked. "My nephew trained to be a Hunter, but he's also becoming a priest. A good disguised for fighting Demons."

"You're a hunter?" I asked Dante, surprised though I didn't know why. Dante looked pretty big and strong looking to just be a Catholic priest.

"I would show my badge, but not in the home of God." Dante said, grinning at me and my face heated up as my eyes widen.

Miguel rolled his eyes and slapped behind Dante head, making Dante smirk as he looked down at the floor, "Anyways, yes. I'm very proud of him, his parents would be proud."

Would be? I thought. Does that mean their dead? It must be, the only explanation.

"Good luck to you both and when you both come back, there will be a new case.", Miguel said.

I started to turn when Dante spoke, "See you next time, Nevaeh." he said, giving me a charming smile that I couldn't help but light up a little and smile back. Uncle Carter grabbed my arm suddenly and pulled me away.

When the church door closed behind us, he let go of my arm, "He's a soon-to-be priest." he said and I scoffed.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I said as we walked over to the car.

"I didn't miss the looks you both gave." he said as we got in and I scoffed again, only because I was caught and I was bad under pressure.

"There was no looks." I said. "And you're right, he's a priest. You're crazy for thinking I would be flirting with one."

"You're just like you're father, he always flirted with the nuns in the beginning." he said. "Of course, until he literally met an Angel." he said as he drove away.

"I was not flirting!" I said stubbornly. I really wasn't, I barley said anything to Dante and it was weird. He was after all becoming a priest and that's just creepy. Even, if he knew my sins of the past, he would probably have me burned if he could do that still.
