My hand gripped tightly around the knife in my hand and I didn't dare look up at Haidar as he casually talked about my sister from across the table.

“Such a pity I wasn't there to see her kill her first Mortal.” he said. I lifted my head up, not taking it anymore. I picked up the steak knife and threw it at his chest, but he quickly went to his life and the knife stuck in the black leather chair. Haidar chuckled, “Mood swings Nevaeh? I hear pregnant women are the most—bitchy while they're pregnant.”

“I don't wanna hear my sister name come out your mouth, you Snake.” I coldly said to him and he grinned. “You think you broke her, huh? Well guess what you son of a bitch!” I yelled as I stood up and pressed my hand firmly against the table as I gave him a hard look. “You didn't, she's fine. She's handling her new life perfectly without you. She's a strong girl, she can hold back her urges. No, she didn't kill anymore because she is still very much Mortal.”

He reached back without looking away from me and took the knife from sticking out of the chair, “But for how long? She'll react without thinking when she taste your blood. She'll become the monster she is.”

“Because I have faith in my sister.” I said as Hadrian reached up to my shoulder and pulled me down back to my seat.

“Faith?” Haidar questioned, chuckling. “Mortals put to much faith in others and they're always disappointed.”

“The only thing my sister was disappointed in was ever laying her eyes on you.” I said and I saw the amused look drop from his face and clenched his jaw as he gave me a hard look. “She's perfectly happy now, with someone she actually likes. He's handsome to, he's always making her smile and laugh. When she's feeling down, he can make her forget all the bad and—“ I was cut off when Leilah grabbed me by the throat since she was sitting next to me. I took in a sharp breath before her hand started to tighten around my knife.

Hadrian reached over, grabbing his sister shoulder and her hand that was around my throat, trying to pull her hair, “Haidar, stop it!”

Haidar scoffed, “You think you are funny?” he asked, giving me a hard look. “Guess what angel, you're not!”

“Haidar!” Hadrian coldly yelled. “Let her go now!”

My throat and chest started to feel like it's on fire.

“Don't stop.” Senka said, suprising Hadrian and I. “Actually, make it a little tighter.” he said as he watched me with a curious look on his face, confusing me. He's letting Haidar choke me? I thought he needed me alive! Azariah isn't ready to be brought into world, he wouldn't kill me.

I could feel my son moving around in me, panicking along with me. I directly looked at Haidar and it was like everything stopped for a moment. Hadrian was yelling at Haidar to let go, Leilah hand wasn't tighten around my throat, and Haidar just stared at me.

Then the large windows behind Haidar smashed as if there was a dangerous storm outside and broke the windows. Or if something was firing a gun out it. The broken pieces of glass flew at Haidar and I felt Leilah hand loosen. I took in a sharp intake of breath, feeling sweet air go down to my lungs as I gasped in a few more breaths.

“What in Hell?” I heard Haidar and I lifted my head a little to see him standing up, scratches everywhere on his body from the glass.

Senka started clapping, “Impressive. Azariah can even do his powers from inside the womb.”

“That's why you had him keep choking her?” Hadrian coldly yelled at Senka who didn't seem faze by Hadrian outburst. “You were testing him!”

“I wanted to how magnificent his powers are.” Senka said as he brought a grape up to his mouth. “He is surly a glorious creature.”

Uriah looked around with a confused look as we walked out of the airport. I guess it's because he couldn't read the Spanish language.

“We need to go to the church in San Jose, there's a priest there waiting for us.” Victurus said. “He has all our weapons there already.”

I looked around all all of us. We we're all together and it looked strange at the eight port to see twelve people in a group boarding a plane. Leo, Aracelia, Victurus, Seraphiel, and Uncle Carter were all talking to each other. Nick, his friend Thea, and two brothers were discussing something on their own. Dante was standing next to me and Uriah, but only because I think he was caution of me. Because of being a Lycan, I think he's worried I might just run and go on a killing spree. And he's still pissed about me punching him and being on my ass to make me angry.

“There's a hotel down the street, we just—“ Aracelia started but Seraphiel cut her off.

“A moment.” he said as he held his hand up. He walked backwards and went over to a large sign that said Welcome! He went behind it and I heard a gasp. Seraphiel stepped out holding Rafael by his shirt and my eyes widen, “I think someone followed us, Vic.”

“Rafael!” Victurus coldly said and Rafael made a painful look like he wanted to runaway. Victurus walked over to them, yelling at Rafael in Spanish about how stupid he is and why doesn't he ever listen. He grabbed Victurus by the shirt and pulled him away from everyone. I crossed my arms across my chest and shook my head, angry as well.

Rafael walked out of the hotel room and saw me standing against the wall across from his room. He gave me a small smile and I shook my head at him. He lowered the smile and held his hands up, “Okay, I hear from my father. I want to help.”

“Why?” I angerily asked as I walked over to him and pressed my finger against his chest and he brought his hand up because it must hurt a little since I had jabbed it. “You are stupid, Rafael! This isn't a joke, it's serious. They could hurt you.”

“I am strong.” he argued back. “I work on my abuela farm, I am strong.”

“It's not about being strong, it's about being safe!” I coldly said. “You didn't even liked watching that Demon in San Diego die. How are you going to handle watching us kill a house full of them?”

“Because I don't want you to do it alone!” he yelled with such confidence, surprising me. He usually talk slowly, not wanting to mess his English up. “I go back, you go back. You stay here, I stay here.”

“No! You're going back.” I coldly said. My hand ran threw my hair frustratedly, “Rafael, he wants you. He wants you because you're a Nephilim.”

“So I need to hide?” he asked, looking down at me with hard eyes. “Uriah is here.”

“Uriah been in the army, he knows what he's doing.” I said and he shook his head.

“I'm no good enough then, huh?” he asked, confusing me. “I can't take care of you, protect you.”

I scoffed, “Why should it matter? You're going back home once Senka is gone.”

Multa.” he said, confusing me. “Stay there.” he said as he reached his arm out and placed them on my waist. My heart beat started to quicken as he too a step forward towards me. It was like back at the fair on the Ferris wheel and he started to lean leaned towards me, but he made an excuse that there was something on my face. He told me he had wanted to kiss me. I was just waiting for him to pretend there was something on my face again as he lowered his head down towards mine.

But he didn't and when he was only two inches away I closed my eyes. I brought my hands up to his tan arms, waiting for him to kiss me and I even felt his breath on my mouth.

Then heard the door behind us open and Rafael pulled himself away from me. I quickly opened my eyes and found Victurus giving us a heavy look. He looked at me, “Courtney, can I talk to you?” he asked, confusing me but I nodded and walked into the room.

Victurus closed the door behind me and I turned to face him, “What is it, Victurus?”

He walked passed me further into the room, “Courtney, my feelings for what you become,” he started and paused for a moment before he turned to look at me, “are completely different towards the how I feel for what you and my son feel for each other.”

Confused, I looked down at the carpet for a second before I looked back up at him, “I don't understand.”

“I know you didn't want to become a Lycan, you are very still but Mortal but I don't want my son with you.” he said and his words hit me hard in the face. “He should be a Mortal woman, not you.” he said so bluntly. “You're a pretty girl, you can be with whoever you want. Just as long it's not my son.”

“Victurus, I—Rafael and I like each other a lot and—“

“My son doesn't know anything, he's to young to know anything.” he said. “His home in Peru, with his family. He's always wanted to come to America, he's looking for a way to stay here.”

I brought my hand up to cover my other arm elbow, “Victurus—“

“Let me finish.” he said in apologentic way. He placed his hand against his heart, “I don't wanna see my son get hurt.”

“Hurt?” I questioned before it hit me. “Oh—that.”

“You can control you instincts but what if he gets a nose bleed? A paper cut? Cuts himself while shaving? You'll lose control. You'll be able to shift with Nephilim at any time you wanted.” he said. “It's nothing against you, Courtney. Honestly, I’m just thinking of his safety.”

I shook my head as I lowered it so he wouldn't see the tears form in them, “No, no you're right. It...it was in my mind about that to.”

“You're next shift is next week, we'll be gone by then.” he said. “Leo will be staying with Damini, him and Aracelia will help you.”

He walked over to me and cupped my cheek, lifting my head so I would have to look up at him and his brown eyes that reminded me so much of Rafael, “You're a good girl and if this wasn't a problem, I wouldn't mind at all. I'll be happy, but I have learned a long time ago everything can't be picture perfect.” he said and I felt my cheeks get wet as tears escaped from my eyes.

“You think we can just walk up to his house?” Uriah asked. “That's like yelling 'we are here'.”

“His villa is all on land, nothing to hide behind.” Carter said. “How do you plan to get in there?”

“Easy, I go in.” Uriah said, surprising us all. “He wants a Nephilim, right? I go in side and distract him.”

“He's a Demon who'll be able to know who'll come on his property long before having to come greet us.” Seraphiel said.

“Then what is a Demon weakness?” he asked. He grabbed the water next to him and put it in a plastic red cup, sliding it over to Seraphiel, “Bless it.”

Seraphiel scuffed, “You want him to bite you? You do know he is venomous.”

“Then find me the cure.” he said. “I'll drink the holy water and when he bites me, he'll be at his weakest. I'll need my mind block so he will not go inside my head.”

“That's a risky plan, Uriah.” Carter said. “Our plan was for Aracelia and Seraphiel to go in first and then we go in.”

“That will cause a chaos.” Uriah said. “It'll make things much easier if I just in first. Then Seraphiel and Aracelia. Senka will be less guarded, making it an easier attack.”

“And if he decided to kill you?” Leo asked, crossing his arms across his chest. “We're responsible for you, Uriah.”

“I am an adult, I don't need anyone protecting me anymore.” he said. “My mother tried sheltering me for a long time, I can take a risk.”

Leo, Victurus, Aracelia, and Seraphiel all looked at each other before we all talked about it more, agreeing it would cause less chaos and make things easier. I turned my head around to see Courtney sitting at the couch, looking down at her nails and she seemed to have something on her mind. I turned and walked over to her. I threw myself down on the couch and tilt my head back, “What on your mind, mutt?”

She scoffed, “Don't call me that.”

I chuckled, “Okay. Seriously, what's wrong?”

“Shouldn't you be listening to the plan?” she asked, annoyed clearly.

“They just need to tell me what to do and I'll do it.” I said. I turned my head to look at her, “We’re going to bring your sister back, don't worry.”

She lifted her head and looked at me, “I know, that isn't on my mind.”

“Then what is?” I asked.

“You wouldn't care.” she said as she looked back down at her hands. I stared at her until my gaze pressured her and she scoffed, looking up at me, “Fine. I'm never going to have a normal relationship. Happy now?”

“You're fourteen?” I said, scuffing.

“I'll be fifteen in a month and that's why most girls start dating.” she said coldly. “And I'll want to date, but I won't it seems. I get close to a guy by just hugging and I want to rip his throat out. I'll grow into a lonely dog lady. I wished this never happen.”

“I thought you were okay with all this now.” I said.

“Well I’m not!” she coldly said, drawing the attention of everyone for a second. She lowered her head and they all looked away, “Some days I’m okay with it, the others I’m not. I told myself it's okay, this is what makes me different from all the other girls. I'm 'special', that's what I say to make myself feel better but at this moment I don't wanna be special. I wanna be normal again.”

“Courtney, what is normal?” I asked and playfully pushed her. Her eyebrows furrowed together as she lifted her head to look at me, “Tell me. What is a normal girl?”

“A girl who doesn't want to eat people. One of those people who you even very much like.” she said.

Teasingly, I arched my eyebrow, “Are you talking about me?” She scoffed, rolling her eyes. She turned her head to look across the room at Victurus son before lowering his head. I understood then and leaned furrowed to place my elbows on my knees, “I don't know if you haven't heard, but one day my body is going to be control by a Demon.”

“I heard.”

“Then we're the same.”

She scoffed again, “We're completely different. You won't be here when he comes. You're soul isn't damned.”

“I so think we're the same. We're both insecure about that.” I said as I looked at her and she looked confused. “Yes, me. Handsome amazing Dante is insecure about himself. I don't believe I'm worth enough to be in this world, like someone is playing a big huge joke on me. I'm cold and mean to people because I don't wanna get to close to anyone because I'm scared he'll go after them once I'm gone. I trained hard because I don't want to die. People wished for death, I wish for immorality so I'll never die.”

“I thought immorality was real?” she asked.

“Only for witches.” I said. “And the paranormal. My point is Courtney, I do know how you feel. One day and I won't be able to stop it—I will die and it won't be me walking this earth. My face will be his, I was made to look to like him. I'll be a monster.”

She looked at me for a moment before nodding once and she looked down at her hands, “How do you go on?"

“I take everyday a blessing that I am alive.” I said. “I don't think about the future to much, because I want to be here now. Do what you want to do, never regret it even if it doesn't go how you planned because one day you'll be happy you at least did it. Don't be scared to take a risk if it's something you want and something you shouldn't.”

She didn't speak for a moment, “Are you still mad that I punched you in the face?”

“Yes.” I said, making her chuckle a little.

“Azariah.” I said to Nevaeh stomach and Azariah moved around. I grinned, “Azariah.” I said again and he moved. She was so early but he was still moving around allot.

“I'm only going to get bigger.” Nevaeh said, chuckling as she placed her hand on her stomach. “If he moves allot now, I can only imagine him at thirty weeks.”

“He's an active little boy.” I said. I pressed my hand against her hard stomach where my son was growing, “I promise I’ll never leave you, I’ll be here for you. You're mine. Can I tell you I'm honor to be your dad?” I asked and he moved around, making me grin.”

I felt Nevaeh hands run threw my hair, “I was told we were destine to meet each other. We were suppose to make Azariah together."

“Who told you that?” I asked.

“My dad. Azariah has many talent, teleporting is one. Azariah isn't evil, he was created to do something. Something coming later, he wouldn't tell me what it was but it's something only Azariah can take care of. It's to strong for Angels.” she said. “That's scary, Hadrian. For me to hear.”

“Nothing going to hurt him.” I said.

“Do you believe that though?” she asked. “About us?”

“I never. . .I never really believed in anything before Nevaeh. I don't know what it's like to trust something. If it's the same feeling I have with you, I guess so then.” I said. “Maybe that's why you were able to turn me into such a softy."

She giggled, her fingers continuing to go threw my hair and it felt good. I lowered my head down on her face, facing her stomach so I watch Azariah move. After awhile I reached up and took her hand, touching the ring on her finger.

“You're my wife, Nevaeh. Even if it's not on paper.” I said and she didn't speak. “I love you.”

“I love you to, Hadrian.” she said.
