I crawled up the rocky wall and propped myself up by my elbows, spitting out the blood in my mouth. I licked my salty lips and chuckled, “You still aren’t very fair, Leilah.”
“Little Dreamwalker, you must have been scraps she used on Rien and I.” Leilah said.
“I would like to see you fight without your air.” I said as I shakily stood up from the ground and turned to face my sister. “She did give me the strength of ten Demons.”
She chuckled and walked towards me, “Don’t forget who is older.”
She swung at me and leaned back, catching myself by holding out my right arm behind me, and I brought my foot up, kicking her. She stumbled back and I stood up, fighting my own sister as if we were actual children arguing.
I threw my palm against her chest and her back slammed against a tree. She looked a little tired from fighting with me. She took in a sharp breath and glared at me, “Why are you doing this?”
“Because it’s my life.” I said.
“You could have a high position at this court and you’re willing to risk it for her? A Nephilim?” she asked.
“You never were the perfect one.” she said. “Fall in love—she’ll die. She’ll live longer, but she’ll die still. Either by Senka or old age. I thought I taught you this.”
“Who broke your heart, Leilah?” I asked, tilting my head to the side and a cold expression appeared on her face. “Who was he, huh? Why are you so angry?”
She chuckled, “It wasn’t love like I thought it was, just lust.” she said as she stepped towards me. “He played me and broke my heart, so I took his and that pretty wife of his after I breathed from them.”
I nodded, “Ah, I see. You’re just a miserable old lady who’s still hung over an old lover.”
“And you’ll be the same once Nevaeh dies.” she said. She shrugged, “I guess you’ll have that child though, I wonder how he will be. He sure is unique kind, everyone going to want to get their hands on him once he’s born.”
“My child belongs to me.” I said.
She chuckled, “You’re child will belong to Senka, he will use him as a weapon. He won’t have parents, Hadrian. You’ll be kept from him.” She stood in front of me and reached up, cupping my cheek in her hand, “Dear brother, please stop this. Maybe you can convince Senka to keep Nevaeh alive. There’s no getting out of this, you know this.”
“I know one thing.” I said coldly to her. She pursed her top lip out and tilt her head, “You’re still an annoying bitch.” I said before I swung my fist out and punched her roughly in the face, knocking her out. I shook my hand since it hurt a little, “My child is mine.” I said as I walked over to the PDW pistol and picked it up.
I walked over to the mansion and walked into it from the back way. I had a few troubled moments as I looked for Nevaeh until I grabbed one of the human maids and made her take me to where Senka office is. She quickly agreed to take me since she was scared.
I held my hand out towards the door, “Aqui?” I asked her and she nodded her head. I let go of her and she quickly ran away down the hall. I changed the bullet case to filled one and brought my foot up, kicking the door opened.
I walked into the Senka office and he was sitting at his desk. I saw the Nephilim we were looking for here, standing near the window and he looked at me. Senka was typing on his computer, but spoke, “Hadrian, pleasure to meet you in person.”
“Where is she?” I asked.
“I don’t know.” He slowly said as he typed on the keypad. He finally stopped and looked up at me, smiling, and “Oh she’s probably just running around somewhere. Those two Angels though gave a fight from what I heard, but someone got hurt it seems. I don’t know who, but I have a feeling it was important enough to have Aracelia take him away.”
I threw the gun aside and took the knife I hid in my boot out, throwing it aside, “Let them go, all of them. Even Nevaeh sister, Courtney.”
“Courtney is here with someone else, I don’t have a say if she stays or go. I don’t really need her anymore, I have Nevaeh here so she’s free to go as she wishes but I have a feeling she might not.” he said and my eyebrows furrowed together. “Scarlet bit her two days ago, she’s changing.”
I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose, sighing heavily, “I really don’t want to be killed tonight, Senka.”
“I have an offer,” he said and my eyes open, staring at him. “I’ll let this Nephilim go.”
“For?” I questioned.
“You.” he said and my eyes widen slightly. “He still belongs to me, I’m just letting him go. All those Nephilims are homed at Nevaeh mother house. I’m not stupid, Hadrian, I’ve always known that was their plan. I own Central America, America, and Canada meaning any other Demon from the other countries can’t touch them no matter what. I don’t want to kill you, I’ve told you this. I want you, you easily walked into this place with no worry. If you stay, this mean Nevaeh will come back.”
“No.” I said and he grinned. “I’m not staying here.”
He stood up and walked over to Gaspar, sticking his hands in his pant pockets, “Well my friend, it seems like I’ll be enjoying your company a little more.”
I felt someone come up behind me but before I could turn, I felt something pierce my back and my shoulder being grabbed so I stayed still. My eyes widen as I gasped, paining rushing from my lower pay as I was paralyzed. I looked down to see a blade had impaled me, my blood covering it.
“All make sacrifices.” I heard Victurus behind me. He took the blade out of my back and I fell down to my knees as he came in front of me, “Be lucky it was me, Aracelia would have taken this chance to kill you.” Victurus turned to Senka, “Give me him.”
Senka smiled and I shook my head, “No.” I said as I tried to regain the feeling in my lower half.
Senka put his hand behind Gaspar back and pushed him furrowed, “Go.” he said.
When Gaspar walked over to Victurus, they turned and I glared up at Victurus, “You’re making a mistake.” I said.
He glared down at me and walked around me, but he hit me in the back of my head. I fell forward, my vision going fuzzy. Last thing I saw was Senka feet walking over towards me.
+Nevaeh.+
I stopped myself from pulling the trigger when Haidar pushed Courtney in front of him. My lips pressed together tightly in frustration. My sister put on a brave face, stopping the tears from sliding down her face.
“Nevaeh,” she said innocently. “Just—go.”
My eyebrows furrowed together, “Huh? Courtney, don’t say that.”
“I’m not me anymore, I’m turning into a monster.” she said.
I shook my head, “No, no you’re not. You’re still my little sister, I need to take you home.”
“You need to take Gaspar back, he’s more important than me. His life is more important.” she said. “I can’t spend the rest of my life like this now, a monster. I’m turning into a werewolf, Nevaeh. I don’t want to kill people, I’ll never have a normal life again.”
“You don’t know what you’re saying.” I said. “You’re my sister!”
“I’m a werewolf.” she said and my hand gripped tightly around the gun. “Don’t risk your life for me.”
“That’s my job.” I said. “I’m supposed to risk my life for people in danger—“
“I’m not people anymore, I’m not Mortal anymore.” she said. “You protect Mortals from Demons, I am considered a Demon now. When I turn and every time I turn, I’ll do something I’ll regret. It’ll be a matter of time before someone is assigned to kill me.”
Haidar took his hand away from Courtney head and smiled, petting her head as if she was a dog, “There you go,” he said to me and I glared heavily at him. He stepped back from behind Courtney and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close to him, “She’s mine.”
Courtney nose scrunched up, “I told you I don’t.” she growled at him before she brought her hand up, pressing her hands against his chest close to his heart. His eyes widen and so did mine as I watched her take her hand away, black blood trailing down from her fingers.
That didn’t kill him though and I grabbed the Chakram, throwing it at him. He dodged it though and it flew back to me, so I caught it. I ran towards Haidar and brought my foot up, knocking him back. I brought my dagger up but as I brought it down, he caught my wrist.
I grunted as I tried to lower it. He glared up at me as he brought his fist up to my face, knocking me off him. He brought his foot over and kicked me on my side. I cried in pain.
“Haidar!” Courtney yelled and we both looked at her before she drove a fire iron poker threw his chest. I heard Dante take a sharp intake of breath but I didn’t look away as I watched my little sister kill her first Demon. A strong one at that. She let go of the fire iron poker and Haidar fell to the ground. She was shaking as she looked down at him, mouth hanging open. She then looked at me, “I-I had to.”
I got up from the floor, taking the poker out of Haidar, and took her into my arms. I squeezed her tightly, happy to finally happy to be holding her and to know she’s safe. She wrapped her arms around me tightly and I felt her nose against the space between my neck and shoulder, inhaling deeply. Realizing she was smelling me, I pulled back and smiled at her, “Dad would be proud, you did it so perfectly. I missed the heart the first time.”
I took her hand so we could leave, but she held her ground. I turned to look at her confused, “I was being serious.” she said.
I scoffed, “No you weren’t, and you were just trying to make convince him that you were staying.”
She shook her head, “No I wasn’t, and I was being serious.”
“Courtney, stop this. This is serious so we need to figure—“
“You stop that!” she said coldly, surprising me. “Stop treating me like a child, Nevaeh. I spent almost three weeks here and I was bitten by a werewolf. I think you can start treating me like I’m ten years old. I can’t go back home, that’ll be dangerous.”
“So you want to stay here? You know what that’ll do to mom?” I asked.
“Of course I do!” she said. “But no one else can help me. Full moon I’ll turn and I’ll want to kill everyone around me. What if that someone was mom? Uncle Carter? One of the Nephilims? Or you?”
“We’ll help you then.” I said. “You’ll be with us, be with your family. We won’t let anything happen to you.”
“I can’t just go back!” she said. “Go back and act like none of this happened? What about school? A nosebleed in gym class and I’ll freak out! You wanting me to go through that is horrible.”
I shook my head, “Of course not, Courtney. I never wanted this to happen to you. But you’re my family, my sister. I’m not leaving this place with you.”
“Of course you are.” she said.
I shook my head again and I took off all the holsters, “No, no I’m not. I’m staying here then because I can’t go home without you. I promised mom I’ll bring you back.”
“Nevaeh!” she said frustrated.
“Courtney!” I mocked her right back. I put my hands on her shoulders, “Courtney, please. I’m not leaving this place with you. I came here for you and it’s not going to be wasted because you’re being stubborn as hell. I know this is scary and when I found out I was a Nephilim, it was still scary. I have a sign on my forehead for every Demon titled ‘dinner’. We just have to move on furrowed and being here, you aren’t moving furrowed. We’ll help you I won’t let you become a monster you think you’ll be.”
“But—“she trailed off when I shook my head.
“I still love you, Courtney. You’re still my sister no matter what, don’t think I’ll stop loving you. For God sakes, my child is half Demon and I love him to death.” I said. “Can we go now?”
She chuckled and nodded.

After trying to get my sister out of the mansion, Dante and I helped her across the river. She was exhausted by the time we made it all the way. I was tried to and I laid on my back, breathing heavily.
“You must really do love me.” she said breathless.
I opened my mouth to speak but I was cut off, “Dad, dad please! Keep your eyes open, you’ll be okay.” I heard Nick’s voice and I lifted my head up to see further into the woods Nick. “Dad! No, don’t fall asleep.” I forced my tired legs up and I walked over where Nick and Uncle Carter were to see Gavin laying, blood everywhere. Nick was cradling his head, tears running down his face. “I’ll do everything you say for now on, I promise. I’ll be good son for now on if you just hold on. Aracelia will be back soon, just hang on.”
“Ni-Nick,” Gavin said and Nick looked down at him. Gavin forced a smile, “I’ve always been proud of you, okay? You’re brothers and yourself, the best sons a father could have. You were right, I was just a stubborn old man and I put too much pressure on you to be a good Hunter even though you already are.”
“Dad, don’t talk like that.” Nick said.
“Tell your mom I’m sorry I was around enough. Go in the glove department, there should be two ticket for London, she always wanted to go there and I was going to surprise her when I got back.” he said. “It’s not goodbye, reme-remember tha-at.” he said as he started coughing.
Nick started begging for Gavin to hold on. I watched the scared look on Nick face like a child until Gavin eyes closed and Nick screamed, crying out for his passed father. I watched as tears slid my face and Uncle Carter putting on a brave face, but I saw he wanted to cry to for his friend.
Courtney walked over, “Haidar told me someone was going to die tonight.”
I turned away and walked over towards the lake, crying since I hated watching people close around me died. Gavin was a good person and Hunter, he even taught me a few trick. He told me lot of stories of my father that I didn’t know and seeing Nick cry, it made me cry. Dante walked over to me and took me in his arms, so I cried against his soaked shirt until I felt someone behind me.
I turned and saw Aracelia. Gaspar was next to her and I saw in the corner of my eyes Victurus climbing out of the water. I wiped across my face, “Why’d you leave?” I asked her.
“He told me to go back.” she said.
“And you did it!” I yelled at her. “Gavin died because of you! I thought you were supposed to protect us.”
“That isn’t my job!” she yelled back. “I tried to help him, but he didn’t want it. No everyone wants Angel blood Nevaeh. He felt like his time was finish.”
“No one time is ever finished!” I yelled. “My father time wasn’t finish either and you weren’t there to help him! You were hiding away from him, from me!”
“Nevaeh,” Dante said behind me.
“No!” I yelled. “You could of have helped him even if he didn’t want it! You let him die like you did my father you cold bitch! You’re not my mother, you’ll never be mother because my mom would have fought hard to keep someone alive if she didn’t think he was so important—“
I was cut off when she slapped me across the face. My head was thrown to the right and my hand came up to my throbbing cheek. I held back the tears that stung my eyes and threated to escape. I realized something suddenly.
We were missing someone. I looked up to find Hadrian somewhere near close but I didn’t see him. I looked back at the mansion across the lake and my eyes widen, “Hadrian!” I yelled but when I ran back towards the lake, I was grabbed and held back by Dante and Victurus.
