It was only a matter of time.
Although I volunteer in freshman choir,
I've never really talked to him.

I asked him what I can do
To move up in choir.
Not to become a Kate,
But to rejoin
Michelle, Daisy, Addy, and Meena
For senior year.

He wasn't rude.
He didn't laugh.

He didn't make it seem like moving up
Was likely.

But he told me to try my best.
And try my best I will.

Because I'm not Kate.
I'm not the kind of girl things come easy to.

Because for the kind of girl like me,
Trying is all There is to do.
