This Summer
I've once again auditioned for the Summer Musical.
Mr. Jen is directly Les Miserables.
I certainly couldn't resist!

Les Mis is a favorite of mine.
Yet another favorite ending in tragedy.

It was odd,
That even though I'd only done it once before,
I thought of the summer musical as my thing.
Or at least something I share with Meena,
And maybe even Kate.
I didn't want new people auditioning.

I knew I wouldn't get a lead.
No chance there.
But there were loads of solos available.
And if it was the same cast from last year's
Pirates of Penzance -
Only about twenty five people -
I was sure to get at least one!

But it wasn't the same cast.
Being Les Miz,
A large crowd was attracted.
Over sixty people showed up for auditions!

Meena and I both complained, trying to guess who would play who.
We narrowed it down pretty clear.

Sydney, The heartthrob of the celebrities,
Was auditioning this year.
He'd be Jean Valjean for sure.
Nathan would be Jarvert.
Vanessa would be Cosette.
Benny as Marius.
Jerry Mister Thenadier.
Claudia Madame.

Meena wanted to be Fantine,
So we avoided casting that role.
Who'd be Eponine,
We hadn't a guess.

As it turned out,
We were pretty wrong.

We'd guessed right about Sydney and Benny,
But that was it.

Vanessa came out as Fantine,
Earning complaints from Meena.
Jerry was Grantaire,
But the role was perfect.
Nathan became Enjolras,
Javert snaked from him by Brian-
Charles's shallow younger brother.

We were shocked.
Some of the celebrities failed to earn leads.
They scored on the bottom for once.

In fact,
The were equal with Meena,
Only singing a small, one line solo.
Meena is quickly becoming a Kate.

But at least they got a solo.
I became the only person,
Who'd auditioned more than once,
Without One moment in the spotlight.
Only in the whole cast numbers.

The summer musical is no cut,
But Mr. Jen still has a way,
To show when he doesn't want us there.
And I know he doesn't want me.
He wants celebrities.
He wants girls like Kate.
