Sleepovers
Are both loved
And dreaded.

I love spending time with friends,
But there's only so much time you can't spend with someone,
Before risking a fight.
Before jokes become annoying,
And disagreements become arguments.

So when Alice invited me to her sleepover,
I was a bit nervous.
I wanted to know who'd be there,
Because I'm not friends,
With all her friends.

Jasmine was invited,
And I was so sad she couldn't go.
Faith came, so that was good.
Lily is super sweet,
but we hadn't seen each other in a year.
Mia is nice, but we aren't very close.
Daisy's a bit of a know it all,
So I wasn't sure,
If I could handle twenty for hours with her.
Megan is funny, but we were never close.
Cate is interesting.
She's basically the complete opposite of Kate.

I decided to go
Despite the fact that,
Although Alice and I have things in common,
Those things are just us,
So we wouldn't be doing anything with that.

Cate wanted to watch a horror movie.
Which meant I wanted to go home.
I've never understood why people like
To make themselves scared.
I'm scared Enough on a regular bases.
Thankfully, Alice put on a Disney movie instead.

I shared a mattress with Alice,
And was so afraid to kick her,
That I kept myself awake all night,
Until about three AM.
Why did Mia have to wake us up before six?

I think the sleepover went okay.
Even if Cate, Lily, and Faith went home before the night.
I think Alice liked her presents.

I hope it went okay.
Because after breakfast,
I started feeling really dizzy.
My head spun and my stomach churned.

So while everyone was telling jokes,
And watching cartoons,
I was laying on the bathroom floor,
Frantically texting my mom.

And when Mom finally arrived,
She needed to walk me out of the bathroom,
Because I was too dizzy to stand myself.

I know Alice understood,
But Mia's a bit of a gossip.
If this gets back to her friend Michelle,
I'll never hear the end of it.
