Mr. Jen
Mr. Jen
Is my all time favorite teacher.
He's absolutely hilarious!
And very protective of his students.
No one messes with one of his choir kids.
However, he's also a perfectionist.
He makes it clear that he won't be satisfied,
Unless we get things right.
Which makes sense.
My school has always had a reputation,
For excelling in the fine arts.
However, the district doesn't care.
If the musicals lose their esteem,
And tickets stop selling,
The music programs will be cut.
There's no way to blame him
for casting the celebrities.
If I was in his place,
I'd cast them too.
They are the best students in the program.
They deserve their parts and they work hard.
Benny and Vanessa volunteer for everything,
So of course they are his favorites.
Mr. Jen doesn't mean to make me feel left out.
He simply wants the production to be the best.
He works hard, helping everyone be their best.
But in the end, he can only cast the very best.
He'll always give tips on how to improve.
He always apologizes for not casting people.
But when it comes down to putting on a show,
He won't settle for anything less than excellence.
I can't blame him for a moment,
For not casting me.
We all want the show to be the best.
We all want the fine arts department to stay.
And that requires the best.
How can I blame Mr. Jen for not casting me?
If I was in his shoes,
I'd do what's best for the music program.
I'd cast the best.
If I was Mr. Jen,
I wouldn't cast me either.
