Alli is always sweet.
I drifted from Addy, but we're still friends.
I wish I was closer with Jasmine, my genuine BFF,
But now we don't share classes.
Alice and I love to read together,
Faith and Anna are great for advice.
I can always share a laugh with Felicia,
Or watch a movie with Lacy.
I have a surplus of online friends.
Especially Vix and Sarah.

You could even say I'm friends with Kate,
Although most people could.
She's too nice to take that impression away.
I think we're friends.
Although we rarely talk.
I think we're in that awkward place
Between friend
And acquaintance.

But my best friend this year is Meena.
We're in every class together.
We've read most of the same books.
She's always there to fangirl,
About Phantom of The Opera
She understands the struggles,
Of not making it into a play.
Though, she can't complain anymore.
Now that she's made the top choir, the musical, and the Spring Play.

The problem is,
That even though I see people as friends,
And we see each other as friends,
It doesn't always work that way.

When the teacher yells "pick a partner"
Despite having plenty of friends,
I'm stuck.

Michelle goes with Izzy.
Anna goes with Alli.
Lacy with Felicia.
Addy works alone.
Faith partners with Jasmine.

Even Meena.
Meena is always has a partner.
Kate.
Because while Meena might be my best friend in class,
Kate is her best friend.

I'm not anyone's first pick.
I'm not anyone's best friend.
So, even if I have lots of friends,
I'm always still left alone.
