Scenario 1:

[ OC ] had a massive argument with [ CC ], which lead to them not talking to each other. Over time, [ OC ] has been missing them. A lot. So, after days/weeks/month(s) of not talking, [ OC ] goes to reconcile with [ CC ].

Scenario 2:

[ CC ] has been ignoring [ OC ] for a while now, leaving [ OC ] unloved and desperate for attention. When [ CC ] finally gets the time to pay proper attention to [ OC ], They find them in shambles.
