Chapter 15: Sibling Love
Hey everyone, so I don't have a keyboard anymore but I have another one coming on the 3rd or 4th of June (thank you Amazon), so when it gets in, I can hopefully work on this story a lot more. Sorry for the wait and I hope you enjoy this chapter.
--TLK--
As the sun neared its highest point of the day, Tumaini let out a yawn as she follows Kion. They had just about explored the entire Outlands with in Kion's territory and were getting ready to head back home. Kion stops and turns to watch the exhausted cub struggling to keep up with him.
"Lets stop for minute." Kion walks over to the cub.
She collapses in the dirt and breaths heavily. "The Outlands is huge." She looks up at Kion.
"It's not that large of a territory..." Kion chuckles. "The canyons in the Outlands are like mazes. They weave around and split in different directions, so there's just a lot more walking than what you're probably used to."
"I wish there wasn't as much walking as this." The cub pouts.
"Well hopefully we won't be in the Outlands for very long." Kion says to the cub.
Tumaini looks back at Kion in confusion to which he returned with a smile. "Come on, I want to show you something."
Kion picks up Tumaini by the scruff of her neck and begins to walk in the opposite direction they were originally going. With the weight of the cub in his jaws, he had to lift his head up higher than normal so the cub didn't touch the ground. Kion didn't stop walking for several miles, until they had reached the border between the Outlands and Pridelands; only the creek separates the two territories. He sets Tumaini down on a nearby rock.
"Whoa, its so open and green." The cub looks at the land in awe.
"Yes, all that green you see, is the Pridelands. That big pointy rock in the distance, is Pride Rock." Kion gestures. "That's where we will all live one day."
Tumaini scans the lands in curiosity and excitement. She watches herds of zebra, gazelle, elephants and other animals in the distance; just grazing and running.
"Can we explore the Pridelands?" Tumaini turns to Kion hopefully.
"No. The Pridelands are occupied by another pride." Kion responds.
"Oh." The cubs face drops in disappointment.
"I promise we will some..." Kion stops as a couple of lioness figures caught his eye, coming towards them from the Pridelands.
Tumaini backs up in fear when she sees them, falling off the rock in the process. Kion holds his ground but steps in front of the cub to shield the figures from view. They hadn't spotted the lion and cub yet but they were definitely coming straight towards them. As they drew closer, he relaxes a bit when he recognizes the forms of Kiara and Tiifu; they notice Kion as well and begin to pick up the pace, heading right for him.
"What are they doing out here?" Kion thought to himself.
"It's okay Tumaini, those lions aren't threats." Kion comforts the shaking ball of fur; she looks at Kion, unsure of what to make of the situation.
"Kion!" Kiara calls out as she and Tiifu stop at the edge of the creek.
Kion steps forward. "I thought I said to come in a couple days, not in a day." He says to the two lionesses.
"I had to speak with you." Kiara says as she gets ready to jump over the creek.
"Kiara, wait!" Tiifu jumps in front of her friend. Kiara looks at her in confusion as Tiifu turns to Kion. "Permission to cross?"
Kion rolls his eyes. "You don't need to ask when I'm present."
Kiara and Tiifu jump across the creek and stop several feet away in front of Kion. Tumaini pokes her head around Kion cautiously, eyeing the two lionesses.
"Who's this little one." Tiifu asks as the cub retreats back from view.
"This is Tumaini. She and her mother found themselves at the Elephant Graveyard a few days ago." Kion responds. "Now they're apart of my pride."
"You mean apart of Zira's pride?" Tiifu speaks out in disgust.
"No, we broke away. We occupy this part of the Outlands." Kion corrects the lioness.
"But what about Jasiri? This is... or was her territory." Kiara asks her brother.
"Was, now it's not." Kion hints.
"But that means..." Kiara and Tiifu look at Kion in shock.
"Jasiri and her clan are dead; the survivors ran off." Kion finishes for them.
"But Jasiri was your friend, how could you Kion?" Kiara looks into Kion's eyes in pure disbelief.
"Friends are supposed to help each other. When dad exiled me, I came to Jasiri and her clan, desperate for help. They turned their backs on me, just like Simba; Jasiri made it very clear to me that we were not friends."
"But Jasiri helped you in the war against Scar and his army. Why would you..."
"I've already told you why. Don't push it Kiara." Kion growls.
The two lionesses take a step back as Kion stares them down aggressively.
"I'm... I'm sorry." Kiara responds, not making eye contact.
Kion relaxes a little. "I don't regret what I did, but I don't want to talk about this any further. Why did you come here?"
"I overheard dad talking to mom last night, saying you declared war on the Pridelands." Kiara looks at Kion as if to ask if she heard wrong.
"Not against the Pridelands, just against Simba and anyone else still loyal to him." Kion answers coldly.
"But why wage war on your family?"
"I don't see Simba or Nala as my family, but you already know why... Simba saw me as a threat to you; so he used a situation to remove me from the place I call home." Kion growls.
"No. Dad would never..." Kion cuts her off.
"Wake up Kiara, that's exactly what happened. I know you went behind his back to talk to me, so tell me; do you think Simba would ever let you come here alone if I was here?" Kion accuses.
"Well, no..." Kiara stutters.
"And since I left the Pridelands, how many times has he let you go out on your own... without someone keeping an eye on you?"
Kiara fell silent to which Kion returns with a devious smirk.
"Just as I thought. He's making sure I don't attack you when your back is turned. Simba still sees me as a threat." Kion chuckles. "And I'm willing to bet anything, that when the wet season starts and you go on your first hunt, he won't let you hunt alone."
"You're wrong! Dad would never..." Kiara lashes out.
"Dad would never do this... Dad would never do that." Kion mocks with an eye roll.
Kion softens his hostility, looking Kiara in the eyes, he takes a deep breath and slowly lets it out.
"Kiara, for a long time I thought dad was different; I did everything he expected of me and more. And even after being loyal to him since I led the Guard, I never thought he'd ever exile me for something I didn't mean to do. I tried saving you from Janja, and Simba doesn't even acknowledge the effort. So if you think dad would never go back on his word, you'll only find disappointment in him. His paranoia and fear of anyone becoming like Scar is what made him push me down this path. I fought Scar and his army but he doesn't care anymore. My friends are all dead because Simba trampled over me, and that left the deepest scar on me than any wound ever could."
The siblings locked eyes as Tumaini and Tiifu wait in silence for them to speak. Kion notices a hint of pity and sadness in his sister's eyes but stayed silent. Suddenly a gasp from Tiifu and a voice behind him, called out to him.
"Kion..!" Zuni calls out as Cyrus and two other lionesses from Kion's pride follows her.
Upon seeing Tiifu and Kiara, the lionesses growl threateningly. Kion signals his lionesses to stand down, to which they obliged.
"Your majesty, a large number of jackals crossed into our territory on the southern border." Cyrus calls out to Kion.
"Alright, take Tumaini home and the rest of you follow me." Kion orders to his lionesses.
Cyrus picks up Tumaini by the scruff of her neck and heads in the direction of the den. Before Kion could turn and lead the lions to the jackals, Kiara takes a step towards him and speaks.
"The old Kion is still in you somewhere, but your suppressing him." Kiara talks softly.
"Maybe, but I'm not willing to let my feeling get in the way of making Simba suffer for what he's done to not only me, but my pride as well." Kion answers coldly.
"I thought I could help my brother, but I realize I can't." Kiara responds in defeat.
Kion turns away from Kiara but stops several feet away. "Heed my warning, when we take the Pridelands, you will not be queen. Don't get in the way Kiara." Kion and his lionesses bolt away without a second look back or answer.
As they ran as fast and hard as they could, Zuni calls out to Kion. "What was that about? Do you think those Pridelanders will actually leave."
"Not important and yes, they'll leave." Kion answers.
As they ran in silence for several miles, Kion and his lionesses slow their pace as they neared the southern boarder. Kion sniffs the air, hoping to catch a scent; finding none, he turns to his lionesses.
"If they're here, they've masked their scent." Kion announces.
Before anyone could reply, an excited yelping could be heard deeper within Kion's territory; coming from the maze like canyons. Not a single lion says anything as they all head in that direction. Weaving around the mazes, the yelping grew louder with every stride. Coming around a certain bend, the lions stop as at least a dozen or so jackals surround Cyrus and Tumaini. Kion lets loose a roar and all eyes turn to him. The jackals cower and back away as Kion slowly steps forward; anger builds up inside Kion as his eyes rest on Reirei and Goigoi.
"K...Kion, what a pleasant surprise." Reirei chuckles nervously.
As the jackals backed off, Tumaini ran from the protection of Cyrus and cowers behind Kion's hind legs for safety; watching the jackals from under the lion.
"You're trespassing in my territory and you have the nerve to attack my pride members?" Kion growls at the jackals.
"Well you see Kion, this is all just a misunder..." The jackal gets cut off.
"Save it, leave now or I will not hesitate to kill every last one of you." He roars.
"A... as you wish Kion. I'm not stupid enough to not know when I'm beat or outmatched." The female jackal responds.
Reirei calls to the rest of the jackals and begin to head out in the direction of the canyons exit. But as they passed Kion, Reirei calls out.
"NOW!"
"What ever you say dear..."
Goigoi lunges for the cub hiding behind Kion, but he was ready for it. Turning quickly around, Kion swipes away the jackal with his claws extended. Knocking Goigoi on his back, Kion puts his paw on the Jackals neck and gave a mighty push on his throat. A cracking noise echoed throughout the canyon walls; the rest of the jackals yelp and whine as they realize Kion and quickly put an unfortunate end to the jackal.
"Goigoi!" Reirei watched in disbelief.
"Dad!" A few of the other younger jackals cried out.
"I warned you Reirei, I'm not stupid enough to not know you weren't planning anything." Kion watches the tears from all the jackals flow. "Take the body and get out of here."
He tosses Goigoi's body in front of the female jackal, the neck positioned awkwardly. She and a couple of her children grab Goigoi and retreat to the exit of the canyon.
"Make sure they really do leave." Kion calls out to his lionesses.
Zuni and Cyrus flank Kion as they watch the two other lionesses chase the jackals down the path.
"You didn't kill them?" Zuni asks.
"No I feel like they could be of some used to us." Kion replies.
"What use do we have for jackals? What can they offer us?" Cyrus adds.
"I don't know yet. But I've angered them so we could possibly use that to our advantage somehow." Kion smirks.
"Why would they help us after killing Goigoi?" Zuni questioned.
"Jackals think their smart, but all you need to do is place down a better offer, and they'll come around." Kion's smirk grew wider. "
—TLK—
A week had passed since Kiara and Tiifu visited Kion, and the events with the jackals. Since then, Kion had talked with Mlezi about training Tumaini a little bit; which she hesitantly agreed to. Zuni has taken the responsibility of discipling the young cub since then, to which the cub had slowly but successfully progressed in just a few short days. However, it wasn't just Tumaini who received training. Kion ordered the rest of his pride to train as well for the coming war against the Pridelands.
The sun beat down on Kion's back as he faces one of his lionesses. Cyrus breathes heavily, desperately trying to recover from the blows from Kion. All the lionesses circle the two, half of them cheering for Cyrus, and the rest for Kion. The lioness lunges as Kion but he quickly moves to the side and shoves Cyrus to the ground.
"Again!" Kion orders.
Cyrus picks herself up off the ground and gets back into her stance. This time Kion lunges but the lioness reacts too late; he instantly downs the lioness with such force, the wind got knocked from her lungs.
"Ooh." Most of the lionesses respond.
Kion stops when he notices the lioness's signals for defeat.
"Another victory for Kion." One of the spectating lionesses calls out.
"You started off strong, got some good hits in." Kion helps Cyrus up. "But you need to work less on strength and more on speed and breathing. It's no good having strength if you run out of air and can't even hit your enemy."
"You're right. I'll work on it." Cyrus replies.
As the crowed dispersed, Kion calls out to Mlezi. As she steps forward, Kion leads her to the den.
"How are you feeling about Tumaini?" Kion asks.
"She's doing great, but I still don't know why we're training her." She responds.
"Don't worry, we're not training her to fight, just to defend herself." Kion reassures Mlezi.
"I guess that's a good reason, you know, because of the hyenas and jackals."
"And how are you feeling about leaving her on her own with the other lionesses for a while." Kion asks the mother.
"Well I don't like it, but I know that at this point in time, she's ready. She can handle it." She responds.
"Good, because we need the help of your former pride mates if we want to take on the Pridelanders. If you're up to it, I'd like to leave in a few days." Kion pushes.
"If it means liberating my friends and their cubs, I'm all for it." Mlezi returns with excitement.
"Good, your dismissed."
Kion follows Mlezi out of the den and looks over his pride. Most of his lionesses forms were good as they sparred. Most of them have the speed, the strength and the lungs for combat. He smirks as he realizes how dangerous they could become if they were to train like this the entire time he is away.
Kion lets out a roar for the attention of his pride. As they all turn to him, he clears his throat.
"In a few short days, I'm leaving for a while to another pride. When I return with anyone who joins us, our numbers and strength will double; as will our chances of taking the Pridelands. I trust you all to keep your pride mates safe, and to guard our territory. When I'm gone, I leave Zuni to carry out my duties. I expect you to continue to train and grow in all areas of combat. When we are ready, The Pridelands will be ours."
All of Kion's lionesses roar in agreement to which he smirks. One thought enters his mind, the death of Simba.

Sheesh... that's what, 7 lives now that Kion personally took, excluding the Guard and Janja.
So that ends the 15th Chapter of Kion's Betrayal: Revenge of Kion's Pride (Yes I added onto the title). Anyways, I'm getting close to reaching 10k views on Wattpad and surpassed 30k views on FanFiction.Net last week, so to celebrate, I've got a surprise planned that I will hopefully release next week. So keep an eye out for the new book. It probably won't look very interesting, but I promise you, If you enjoy Kion's Betrayal, it's worth it. Don't miss out.
On that note, SpiderEye out...
