Chapter Eigtheen
James followed behind the blonde haired woman as V lead the way, he tore his eyes away as the bald woman lead Dominic down a different path of the jet.
"Sit." V instructed as they stepped into a glass office in the middle of a room full of computer screens.
James did as instructed. His eyes looked around him as he waited, he could feel his heartbeat fast in his chest.
"You need to calm down." V instructed as she sat down at the end of the table.
"Calm down. Sure. When you tell me why I'm here."
The blonde haired woman sat down next to James.
"You said repeat offender." The blonde haired woman sighed.
James looked at her "Sasha. I did my job. It's not my fault he caught wind of it."
"Your just lucky he only knows about you."
The bald woman calmly walked into the glass office "Look at you in your fancy suit." She calmly sat next to V.
"Some of us do have day jobs." James watched as Sax smirked.
The three woman noticed a computer monitor switched to cell footage of Dominic.
"Bustin' and Hard N Ready." Sax switched her attention to James.
"His not Bustin'."
"You must really be stupid, James. His Bustin'." Sax loved mocking James.
James laughed with sarcasm.
"Yep. His an idiot." Sax pushed out her chair slightly before resting her feet up on the table.
"Their right, James." Spoke a black man as he stepped through the glass office, closing the door behind him.
"Sam, that's not possible." James looked up at man in jeans and a hoodie "I would know."
"Yeah right. Your too busy dick chasing to know." Sax quipped.
James flipped his middle up at Sax.
"That's enough, children." Sam quickly spoke "James has two out of three paintings."
"I can get it." V's voice piped up.
Everyone turned their attention to V.
"I'm sitting you out on this one. The Unfinished One affected you, we don't know about this one, especially with his reaction." Sam looked up at the monitor as it showed Dominic pacing in his cell.
"He'll be fine, right?" James asked.
V looked at James "His scared but fine."
"Sasha, I want you to go down and find out what you can. Sax, you'll joining James."
"NO!" Sax didn't hesitate to jump up to her feet.
"Yeah, Nah. I don't want her."
"Sax will be your assistant and keep an eye on your office." Sam spoke.
James and Sax death stared each other.
"Do you even own anything other than cargo?" Sasha couldn't help but laugh.
"Shut it, Sash." Sax sighed.
James turned his chair slightly to Sasha "You have to look out for Fred. His the curator, apparently he knows all about the paintings." He glanced up at the monitor that showed Dominic before glancing back to Sasha "He knows I have the paintings."
"We heard you're in need of a buyer." V mentioned.
James brought his gaze up to V.
"Sasha's going to announce she's your buyer." Sam mentioned.
James turned his attention to Sam.
"You all have your assignments." Without another word, Sam stepped out of the glass office.
Sax huffed out of the office.
Sasha took pride in her walk as she followed behind Sax.
James stared up at the monitor, he felt conflicted over what he had done. He didn't mean to involve everyone else, but he couldn't figure out any other way to protecting the one man he still deep down cared about.
James jumped slightly when he felt a gloved hand touch his shoulder, he kept his eyes on the monitor.
"I'll keep an eye on him." V whispered in his ear.
James placed his hand over V's.
"Don't feel conflicted, you had no other choice."
James tried but couldn't find any comfort in V's words.
"James."
James looked up at V. He saw the woman as his baby sister, he would do anything to protect her even though he wasn't always there for her.
"I'll stay with him."
James took comfort in those words "Sam won't like it."
V shrugged a little "It's fine. I'll handle Sam." She kissed James' cheek "I still hate that you have the portraits after everything I did."
James smirked "There she is." He carefully rose up to his feet before wrapping his arms around her, V allowed herself to sink into his arms.
