What Do We Play?
Everyone was gathered at Finn's house. In front of them lay an array of board games, cookies, and other snacks. Everyone looked between each other and the games.
"Scrabble,"Charlene said, suggesting a game. She was next to Maybeck on the living room couch.
"Sorry?" Finn suggested another game, although it sounded like an apology until he pointed at the game from his seat on the floor, a comfortable distance away from Amanda, a distance that he wished to close.
"Clue,"Maybeck brought up his personal favorite of the games arrayed before them.
"Pictonary?"Jess asked, looking to Maybeck who she knew would agree with her suggestion. He smiled.
"No,"came simultaneously from Finn, Amanda, and Charlene who knew they stood no change against the two artists.
"Fine,"Jess and Maybeck grumbled.
Then, the two had yet to speak since the discussion started all but shouted.
"MONOPOLY," Willa and Philby spoke at the same moment, startling everyone. The two seemed to be turning slightly pink, a sign they didn't mean to speak at the same time, much less to bring up the same game.
Charlene giggled at the sight of them, she knew her friend had liked Philby for a while, years in fact, and small things like this were what made her so sure he liked her back, small things that no one mentioned, such as the fact Willa was currents wearing a sweatshirt everyone knew belonged to the red head on her left. The only problem was, neither of the group geniuses would admit their feelings, no matter how painfully obvious it was to everyone around them. "You guys know that game ruins friendships, right?" Maybeck said, avoiding the game up till this point, he knew their group had a habit of breaking into arguments, especially the two who had brought up the game to start with. "We've made it through worse,"Finn and Charlene were both shooting a dark glare, after so long as friends he easily read their faces to be telling him that he no longer had a say in this matter. Everyone else seemed convinced by the smiles on their friends who sat themselves somewhat separate from everyone else, still somewhat pink. Maybeck grumbled but went along with it, "Monopoly it is..."
