The next few days was spent cleaning up the damage from the war. All the troops were put to work filling in the trenches, mending the fields, and gathering any abandoned weapons and armor.
Kita did her best to tend to any of the other wounded from both sides of the war. Wooyoung and Jongho never left her side, worried that someone might retaliate or that the wizards might show up again.
But no one did.
Once San had caved, no one had any itch to keep fighting.
He had been given his own room in the palace, which he didn't leave. Maids brought meals to him and guards were posted outside the door.
Everyone was preoccupied with putting everything back together.
When she finally got a break, Kita made her way to her room and locked herself in the bathroom. Even with all the healing that was done, she had an empty feeling inside of her that she couldn't shake.
The kick from the wizard.
Standing in front of the full-length mirror, she stared at herself. She had bags under her eyes, and she looked thin. She hadn't been eating well. Her eyes drifted down to her stomach and she bit her lip to fight back tears as she placed her hands on it.

Wooyoung knocked on the bathroom door. He had seen the light coming from under it when he had come looking for Kita.
His heart dropped when he heard the quiet sobs coming from the other side of the door. He knocked again. "Kita? Kita, what's wrong?"
The lock clicked and she slowly opened the door. Her eyes were red and puffy and dried tears stained her cheeks. "I lost it..." Her voice was hollow, and she wouldn't meet his eyes.
"Lost what?" He immediately stepped forward and pulled her into his arms. He didn't like what she was saying, but he didn't know what to do about it.
"O-Our baby..." She started crying again, grabbing onto his shirt. "The w-wizard... When h-he kicked me. I f-felt it..." Her sobs got worse.
Wooyoung felt his mouth open as he tried to process what she was saying. She had lost... their baby... He shook his head slightly and looked down at the top of her head. Then he leaned over so he could carry her to the bed. They laid down together, he pulled her to his chest.
A baby... She had been pregnant...
He felt his own tears coming, but he did his best to stay strong for her. He had to.
Wooyoung let his hand rub small circles into her back, trying to soothe her, and placed soft kisses on the top of her head. He didn't speak. He was too afraid to say the wrong thing.
The loss hit them both greatly, especially because neither one of them knew about it. He'd been lying if he said he wasn't worried after they had had sex for the first time, but they got so caught up in everything that he completely forgot.
Eventually, Kita stopped crying, but they didn't move for many hours.
Not until a soft knock interrupted their thoughts.
Wooyoung shifted so he could look over his shoulder and saw Seonghwa pop his head in. "So this is where you're hiding. Din... Is everything ok?" His asked, his voice getting softer. He walked over and sat on the edge of the bed.
"I think... I think it's just been a long week." Wooyoung said softly, rubbing Kita's cheek lightly.
"Yes, it has." Seonghwa looked concerned but didn't push the subject. "But it's not over yet. We still need to decide what to do about King San..."
Kita's eyes flicked up. "What do you want to do?" She asked, her words barely more than a murmur.
"I don't know that it's my decision to make, and Father agrees with me. You're the only one who really knows what happened out there."
She closed her eyes for a long moment. "Let me talk to him. Alone."
No one protested. Wooyoung just helped her out of bed and the three of them made their way to San's room.

Kita didn't really feel like dealing with this right now. But she knew she had to.
When she walked into the room, San looked a lot like she probably did back at his palace. His hair was messy, clothes disheveled, and he was staring blankly out one of the windows.
"San?" She asked, her voice still quiet.
He heard her though. His head spun around, and he immediately jumped and walked over to her, pausing before he got too close. "Hello, Kita." His voice was quiet too.
She still couldn't get used to how different he looked. A smile crossed his face, revealing dimples she was sure she had never seen before.
"It's good to see you. I'm sorry for... everything." He said, looking down. "How are you?"
Kita felt her breath catch in her throat. His voice was so genuine and concerned, she didn't know what to do.
"Kita?" He tilted his head.
"I-I'm fine. Thank you. How are you?"
"Worried." He said quickly. His hands started fidgeting with each other. "What's going to happen to me now? I know I deserve whatever punishment you deem worthy..."
Kita stared at him for a long moment. Then she walked forward and placed her hands on his chest. He tensed. She could feel his eyes on her, so she closed hers. Calling on her gift, she let her energy wash over him, looking for any signs of injury, physical or mental.
There was none.
It seemed like Kita might have really healed his heart.
He reached up and grabbed her hands. "You felt it, right? I've changed..." He whispered. "Will you give me a second chance?"
Kita looked up and saw a look of longing in his eyes. She withdrew her hands and bit her lip. "I'm sorry San... But I..."
"Love Wooyoung." He sighed and nodded in acceptance. "It was worth a shot." He smiled brightly again.
"But I do agree, I can feel that you have changed. So, go home, San. Help your people."
"Thank you, Kita. I hope... I hope we can be friends?" San tilted his head a little, making Kita smile, but she could feel it didn't quite reach her eyes.
"I'd like that."

Seonghwa watched from the king's side as Kita led San into the throne room. He seemed to hide behind her like a lost kid and kept his eyes from looking at anyone too long.
He could still tell there was something wrong just by looking at his sister's face, but she would tell him when she was ready. For now, she had her 'royal' face on as she bowed her head to their father.
"What is your decision?" He asked, his voice low and steady.
"San is going to return home with all his men. He is going to work on building up his kingdom again, and I'd like to help him. We have plenty of crops here to go around. I'd like to start and alliance with Volkin, Father. Partially to honor the original agreement that has since been broken, partially because I believe in second chances. I know you can't feel it like I can, but I can sense a change in him. I think an alliance will benefit both kingdoms, and maybe inspire others to join as well."
Seonghwa saw his father smile, proud of what the princess had said. "Very well. King San, if you will join me, we will draw up the terms of an alliance that benefits both our kingdoms, then we will send you home to your people."
San glanced at Kita, a loving look in his eyes as he bowed his head to her and followed the king into a side room.
She sighed and turned to leave, but Seonghwa ran forward and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Kita?"
He saw tears in her eyes, and he pulled her to him. She wrapped her arms around his back and started crying.
As if sensing her pain, Wooyoung came running into the room a few minutes later, hugging her from behind.
"Youngie, what's going on?" Seonghwa asked.
Wooyoung hesitated for a long moment, then rested his head on top of Kita's. "We were going to have a baby. But Kita was hurt during battle..." Tears formed in his eyes and Seonghwa brought one hand up to squeeze his shoulder.
He couldn't even begin to fathom the pain Kita was going through right now, or Wooyoung for that fact.
"We didn't know." Wooyoung said, answering the question that must have been written all over his face. Seonghwa just nodded.
"I'll meet you up in your room, ok Kita?" He said, placing his hands on either side of her face.
Wooyoung picked her up in his arms and slowly walked out of the room.
Seonghwa spun around and went to find Yeosang. The wizard was in his study recovering. He had refused the princess' healing so she could focus on others.
As soon as he walked in the room, Yeosang sat up and smiled at him. "Hey, stranger."
"Hey yourself." He leaned over and kissed Yeosang quickly. "Can you make a sleeping potion for Kita? She, uh..." He rubbed the back of his head. "I guess she was pregnant and lost the baby..."
Yeosang's hand flew to his mouth as he gasped. "Oh no..." He quickly jumped out of bed and threw some ingredients together, brewing up a drink for Kita.
They brought it upstairs, running into the rest of their friends along the way. Jongho, Mingi, Hongjoong, and Yunho followed them up to her room, all wanting to support the girl that brought them together.
She was resting in Wooyoung's lap, her head leaning into his shoulder.
Everyone filed in one by one, and her face lit up when she saw everyone and gratefully took the drink from Yeosang. She shared it with Wooyoung, and they all stayed with them until the couple fell asleep.
