Chapter 9

Disclaimer: I don't own pokemon
The next two days went by practically that same: get up, go down to breakfast, argue with Drew, work at the stables, eat lunch with Misty and Dawn, help Drew saddle Absol (he rode him for a little bit at one o'clock each day), finish up work at the stables, eat dinner, argue with Drew again, be unable to fall asleep, get up and exercise Tor, repeat.

I woke up on my third day of getting six hours of sleep. I peeked in the small mirror that hung in my room. I had dark bags under my eyes.

My first thought: I'll have to cover it up with make up.

My second thought: oh, wait. I don't have any make up.

I sighed. I guess I'll just go to breakfast and hope no one notices. It's not like I interact with a whole bunch of people during my day. Seriously, I think I see more horses than I do people.

I noticed Drew standing outside the door to the dinning hall. Looks like its time for the morningly fight.

"Morning your royal sir-ness."

"Just as happy to see yo-" his eyes softened a bit. "Mia, have you been having any trouble sleeping?"

So much for no one noticing. The prince himself did!

"I'm fine."

"You don't look f-"

"I said, IM FINE!!!" I snapped. Looks like my lack of sleep is starting to really effect my attitude.

I only got a glimpse of his face before I slammed the door to the dinning hall. From what I got, he looked kind of... hurt. But he would have to actually care if that would hurt him.

Fat chance of him ever caring about me...

I mentally slapped myself. Why would I care if he cared about me or not. He's just an arrogant jerk of a prince!

"Maaaayyyy!"

I froze. Who just called me May?

"I'm your conscience, genius."

"Wha-"

"Let's go through the possible reasons of why you'd care if he cared about you or not. Let's see... one, you like him, two, you REALLY like him, three, you love hi-"

"I do not like or love Grasshead!"

"Ooh! You already have a nickname for him!"

"I don't like him, and that's that. Now shut up and go away."

"Fine. For now I will. We will be having MANY talks in the future though."

That was very, very, weird.

---------------------------

I yawned. Misty and Dawn had just left to go back up to the castle, and it was now almost twelve.

I rubbed my eyes. Must... Stay... Awake...

-----------------------------

I felt something rather large assault my head.

"Knock it off..." I muttered, raising a sleepy hand to stop my 'attacker'.

I forced my eyes open. "Absol stop that! Why did you-"

Oh no. I had fallen asleep. I was out around twelve... Meaning.

Drew was going to be here any moment.

As if on queue, I heard the stable doors open. I quickly righted myself.

"Hello, Absol." He said, walking right past me.

"No hello?" I asked, feeling a bit hurt. He just completely ignored me!

"No, you don't deserve a greeting from me. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, and I think you just proved that, seeing as you appear to be unable to learn respect."

"Excuse me!?!? Old dog!?!? I'm a year younger than you are!!!!!!!!!!"

"Really? You don't look it." He didn't even turn around.

"You... You... Bad idea insulting a girl about her age, buster. Baaaaaaaad idea."

I headed for Absol's saddle.

"I'll saddle Absol. You saddle Ninetails."

"Huh?" I face him a confused look.

He gave a small simile. I felt my heart speed up, just a little bit. What is wrong with me!?!?

"There's this awesome trail pretty close to the castle that I wanted to show you. It's wide enough for both horses."

I nodded, previous anger forgotten. I began to saddle Ninetails as Drew did to Absol.

"Come... On... Stupid... Buckle!"

I tugged and tugged at the stubborn latch. The thing just wouldn't tighten!

"Grr..." I tried using my weight. That stupid thing still wouldn't tighten!

"Hm? Need any help?"

I simply ignored him. He ignored me first!

He walked up beside me, grabbed the latch, and pulled it tight with one swift motion.

My stomach lurched, and my heart raced. The thing is, in the process of grabbing the latch, he grabbed my hand as well.

I mentally slapped myself. Why does he make me feel like this? What is this feeling?

I was quickly snapped back into reality. He smirked. Not again...

"Why doesn't it surprise me that you're too weak to even tighten Ninetail's saddle?"

That was it. I just... snapped.

"You tell me I'm the rude one? The one who needs to learn respect? Look at your self, you hypocrite!! I may not be on the same economic level that you are, but I too have a certain level of personal respect! The three things that you should never, I repeat, NEVER insult a girl about is A: age, B: weight, and C: physical capabilities!!!!!!!!"

My face was completely red, and I'm pretty sure I had steam flowing out of my ears. When I loose it, I REALLY lose it.

And I lost it, so far gone that no matter how long Drew spent trying to get it, it would be in vane.

"I'm not insulting girls in general, just you."

Oh, that remark was not helping anything. He's just digging his grave.

I reached forward, lunging at him.

However, my entire rage was controlled by a single, delicate object.

"Huh?" I asked, giving Drew a confused face.

He rolled his eyes. "Don't tell me that you don't even know what a rose is."

"Uh... Yah I know what a rose is... But why?"

"Well, for one, it managed to shut you up, which I didn't know was possible-"

I glared at him.

"-and also, it's sweet scent can help relieve stress, possibly caused by lack of sleep."

He looked at me expectantly, one eyebrow raised. I sighed.

"Fine, I had trouble falling asleep the past few nights. Happy?"

"Very."

"Glad to hear that you are so joyful. I'm feeling more awake now, though."

In all honesty the only reason I was feeling so awake was my power nap, literally seconds before he walked in.

~cue awkward silence~

"So... Uh... Want to head off?"

"OK!"

Finally got this updated!

Hey, just an update, I finished the ghost of my past, and have started a story called 'through Norman's eyes' in it's place.

Also, I completed a four-one shot one shot series, and another one shot that is like a continuation/several years later thing off of the last one shot.

The one shot series is called 'um... I don't know how to tell you this but...' And the continuation one shot is called 'thanks a lot, Rose'.

So... Yeah. Please check those out.

See ya!
