Chapter 6

Disclaimer: I don't own pokemon

I stretched, accompanied by a large yawn. Huh? Why is my back sore? I swung my feet on to the hard wooded floor. Hard wooded floor? My floor is carpet! Where am I?

I rubbed my eyes and blinked. Sunlight streamed in a small window, faintly illuminating the small room. Misty and Dawn also slept in small, close to the ground beds.

Then it all rushed back to me - escaping over the boarder, getting caught, meeting the jerk of a prince, working at the stables...

How did I end up in this position? I sighed. That servant - Ash I think - had brought me up to the room, telling me that all of the servants are to eat breakfast in the dinning hall at seven sharp.

Judging from the sun's position on the horizon, I'm guessing it's somewhere around 6:30. I left the tiny room, figuring since I didn't get a tour yesterday and had no idea where the dinning was, I would eventually come across it. Hopefully in less than half an hour.

I made my way down corridor after corridor, the walls getting lighter due to the ever rising sun. I was probably late by now, and there was nothing I can do about it.

You know, it might have been a good idea to wait for Misty and Dawn to wake up and show me how to get there...

I rounded a corner, immediately crashing full in to the person coming from the other direction.

"I'm so sorry... Oh. It's you."

"What are you doing in this part of the castle? You should be in the dinning hall by now."

"I know that, but sadly I did not get shown around the castle yesterday and therefore have absolutely no idea where the dinning hall is. Heck, I doubt I could even find the stables again thanks to being dragged backward the whole way there, and- Hey! Where are you going?"

"Follow me. The dinning hall is this way." He started off in the complete opposite direction of where I was going. Oh, I hate that guy so much. He is so cocky, arrogant, insulting, cu- wait, WHAT!?!?!? I did not just start to think that! No way! Ever! Get a grip!

"You coming Mia, or do you want to get lost again?"

I felt my pulse begin to race with anger, and I quickly fell in step right behind him, desperate not to be teased.

"Oh, and Mia?" I glared at him. "I'll show you to the stables again, not dragging you this time." I said nothing, not trusting my tongue not insult him further.

--------------------------------

"...And that is the way to the stables. Head back up to the castle for dinner at 6:30. Ash and now possibly the red head... Misty right? will bring you lunch around twelve."

He stopped and turned to face me. Emeralds met sapphires, and I felt my stomach lurch. That I don't get: why did it feel like that? Why did it flip? He wasn't being intimidating, and he didn't seem angry. What is it?

Then I realized something- unfortunately not what the feeling was, but a physical characteristic I didn't take note of before. Prince Drew really isn't that tall.

Earlier when he seemed to tower over me, well it was really the scaryness that made him seem tall. In reality, the top of my head reached about to his eyes, and he's a whole year older than me!

Then again, I'm not short. I'm not tall either, so I guess I'm average height. I'm five four, so I'm guessing he's five six or five seven.

"Hello? Earth to Mia? Man you space out easily!"

The sound of heavy hoof steps echoed and a red and yellow horse darted in to view. Tor! She escaped!

It was some relief to see that my horse, my love and joy, was safe. It also gave me hope. Hope that Dawn, Misty, and I weren't the only ones to escape. It gave me the fantasy that some how my friends were wrong. That Mom had gotten away as well, and was waiting for me to find her and run into her arms.

I quickly discarded that thought. I was the last free royal family member of the Beautifly Kingdom. And I was working as a servant in the Roserade Kingdom. Oh, boy.

I was about to yell out Tor's name, call to her to pet her and tell her that everything was going to OK. But I stopped myself. It would give myself away, I would have to pretend that I didn't even know her name. It hurt. Hard.

I was sacred that she would run off, and I never see her again. This was not the case. She must have seen me, smelled me, etc. because she cantered straight towards us.

Prince Drew stepped between us, and walked up to Tor. Warning sirens went off in my head as I saw Tor's body language. She thought that he was hurting me, and looked like she was going to strike.

I held my hand up to show that he meant me no harm. Well, as long as I was Mia and not May, anyways. Thankfully he didn't see me as he was facing Tor and his back to me.

I walked up beside him as he examined the saddle. Huh? Why did Tor have her saddle on? Did one of the servants try to ride off on her? I concluded that as the most logical answer. Tor was one of the fastest horses in the Kingdom, and therefor a desirable escape plan.or someone could have set her free, but hat wouldn't explain why she was saddled.

"I wonder who's horse this is. By the looks of it, she's well taken care of, but she's been through a lot, that's for sure. Hmm? What's this?"

He examined the white stitching on Tor's red saddle blanket.

"So Tor is your name? Where did you come fr-"

He stopped as he spotted the royal crest of the Beautify Kingdom sewn above Tor's name.

"This... This horse belongs of one of the royal family of the Beautifly Kingdom. Probably the princesses, possibly the queen's. But... What is she doing all the way over here?"

He looked at me with a serious expression on his face. "It looks like the Cacturns Invaded the Beautifly palace."

He turned back to Tor.

"We can keep her here at least for the time being."

I let out sigh of relief. Tor was going to be save here, and that comforted me somehow.

"I'm going to see how well she handles riders."

The sirens went off again. Tor didn't exactly take kindly to most people who tried to ride her. Most people meaning everyone except me and Dad. Drew (yes, she thought of him informally) could get hurt!

"That might not be a good idea!" I blurted out quickly, almost without thinking.

"Oh?"

"Uh... Not all horses are friendly to people they've just met trying to ride them."

"Are you doubting my riding skills?"

"No, but..."

"Are you suggesting that you should be the first one to ride him?"

I couldn't do that either as Tor would be as gentle as a lamb for me, then try to throw Drew. But if I didn't do something, he could get seriously injured or he could get himself killed depending on the circumstance!

"My point exactly." He replied as he swung into the saddle.

"No! Prince Drew!"
