Chapter 6
Sorry this is a very short chapter and I haven't updated in ages but I have started to write chapter 7 already and hopefully it will be published soon...
I woke up. All of my limbs were numb and I had a dizzy feeling in my head. My eyelids felt like magnets and were slowly closing back together. I forced myself to stand up and stretch; as I was doing so I realised that Caitlin was also sitting up, her blue eyes fixed on her feet.
"Morning" she said still looking at her toes. I wondered how she knew I was even awake because she hadn't glanced at me once. "Have you realised yet?" She asked
"Er, realised what?" I replied with confusion.
"Sergeant Joe- he isn't back yet. Strange."
That thought hadn't even crossed my mind, what had happened to him?
"Are you sure you haven't seen him?"
"Positive, I've looked all around our camping area- he's nowhere to be seen!"
She paused allowing us to think and then spoke up again, "What should we do?"
"Maybe we should just wait around and if he's not back by the afternoon, then we can go and search for him."
"Okay," Caitlin nodded as she checked her watch, "It's half-past seven, let's wake everyone up and tell them our plan"
Me and Caitlin awoke our friends- which was followed by many moans and groans- then explained our plan.
"So, is it just our group that are going on the search or are we going to tell the whole of the camp?" Theo asked.
"Yeah, we could tell everyone and all go in different directions through the forest, then, hopefully, at least one group will find him" Harvey agreed. Me and Caitlin looked at each other and nodded, this plan wasn't half bad.
"Okay, we will gather everyone at lunch time and split them up into groups, some will have to stay just in case Sergeant Joe comes back. Then we can all split up, go in different directions and try to find Sergeant Joe. We'll tell everyone to meet here after a certain time and see if there is any luck, if he is still lost then we will just have to find our way back to the desert, back to our camp site." I announced feeling quite proud.
"Are we gonna be in a group together?" Olivia questioned
"Probably, yeah" I answered. "Groups of nine then, it works out alright because there are about ninety people". Everyone nodded and then started to pack. I just hoped the plan worked...
