Time forever

"Mrs beaver?" I started we just finished up a little late lunch
"Yes dear?" She replied back sweetly
"When did you realize you were going to be with mr beaver forever?"
"Oh dear, that's quite a long story but i presume it must be the same for when Aslan thought he would raise you. I still have yet to meet the man but i assume he knew the moment he saw you."
"But isn't it different? You're in love with him, Aslan is just my dad."
"Well in some ways, but the level of commitment, no matter what type of love, is the same."
"well come on then! We haven't got all day!" An impatient voice trilled from outside.
"Well that'll be him." Mrs beaver sighed
"So this is your home?" A different voice, this one I've never heard before, was soft and quiet.
"Yes it is dear one."
Mrs beaver and I gave each other the same look and headed out of the lodge to see who it was.
Standing behind beaver were four humans.
Humans.
They were humans.
I stood in shock unable to process what was in front of me.
"Guys! Look what the beaver dragged in." Mr beaver joked
"Human." I mumbled still in awe of their presence
"Yes and so are you." The older girl pointed out
"I am. Only I've never seen another human here in Narnia."
"Why's that?"
"Humand don't usually exist here."
"Then how id you get here?"
"Aslan raised me."
"The lion we need to see?"
"The one and only."
"So then you can tell us where he is?"
"I know where he is but I can't just magically take you there, it will still be a journey."
"Just take us to him." The older boy asked
I looked around and noticed it seemed different.
"Weren't there four of you?" The siblings looked around to see there was in fact one less than there used to be.
"Where's ed?"
"I'm gonna kill him."

Through the past day or so we had traveled throughout narnia. We had run into some problems consisting of cold, long walks and murderous wolves with a inferiority complex. My wrist still hurt from the fall is taken in battle with a wolf. Our feet started to ache, our hands and toes were freezing off and if we heard one more story from mr beaver we were going to lose our minds. Peter seemed to be lost in thought all day. I saw him furrow his brows so I put my hand in his shoulder to get his attention.
"What's going on Peter?" He shrugged and shook his head "you can tell me." Peters eyes seemed to water.
"Im just scared for Edmund. I know we can't save him but part of me feels like I failed to protect him."
"You didn't fail anything Peter. You didn't know this was going to happen. How could you have?"
"I know. I just promised mom..."
"What do you mean?"
"Back where I live. There's a war going on. All the children were separated from the adults and sent elsewhere. Before we left I promised my mom I'd take care of them."
"Separate the kids?! How do parents do that? I could never leave my dad."
"It was hard. Very hard. But I think my mom learned to be okay with it."
"I just think it's foolish."
"Even if they knew we'd die?"
"I would much rather die with my family than live without them."
"Well then you don't live in the real world."
"No Peter. I just didn't grow up as lucky as you." My tone was bitter.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to upset you." He turned his gaze away and frowned.
"Don't feel bad peter. It is what it is. And aslan loves me like five people would." I put my arm on his bicep as we continued walking and he walked closer to my side. It made me a little nervous when he got closer. Admittedly I'd never seen another human before so I probably would have had a crush on anyone who walked in but he just made me feel... happy. It was probably the hair or the bright smile. It could have been the laugh or the way he gripped Lucy's sleeve to keep top track of her, careful to not lose another sibling. He was just... warm.

Peters pov
She made me nervous. Really nervous. I'd seen a million girls but none like her. She wore her pride on her sleeve and walked with nothing but personality. She radiated an energy that could be nothing but her. She made me sweat even though she seemed pretty cold. She would brush off emotion and tie her sadness up in a bow like it wasn't anything but a part of life.
She confused me, maybe that's what makes me like her; she squinted at the sun often and smiled at the ground. Never at me. I wish it was at me.
I walked closer to her, hoping to melt the ice wall she'd forged between us.
"So how did aslan raise you?"
"Well he was my guardian and supporter but a fawn did all the hard work. Her name was Cala. She taught me how to speak and walk. She read to me and fed me every day. Don't get me wrong aslan taught me a lot. How to fight, how to believe in myself. He taught me love and how to get over anger. He taught me forgiveness. Aslan made me the person I am."
"He sounds... magical."
"He is." She laughed.
I looked at her smile as she tilted to the ground once again.
"Look up when you smile. It's better that way." I spewed unintentionally. Her eyes widened and mine followed suit. "I-uh... I didn't mean to say that out loud."
"It's alright. I liked it."
I was definitely blushing now that her eyes squinted at me. I turned my face away and tried to rub off the redness that was definitely finding home in my cheeks.
"Are you blushing?" She teased
"No! It's from the cold." I defended.
"Mm hmm." She let it drop but she knew. We both knew.

The trip to aslan was long. We had finally made it to the stream but it was looking less hopeful by the second.
I gripped my wrist as it throbbed and walked down.
"How are we going to make it across?"
Me beaver was up to cross by himself, making sure it was sturdy for four humans and another beaver.
There was suddenly a loud sound from above us and the wolves sprinted in our direction. My heart rate picked up and my knees started to wobble.

"Hold on to me!" Peter shouted at all of us. We gripped him. I grasped the front of his shirt and braced for anything. We started to float off and I felt the cold water encompass me. My body got a cold shock and my eyes seemed to sting.
I took a big breath as we all flooded the surface. We rode the sheet of ice to a softer roaring of the water and got out.
"Lucy?" I called as I turned and she was gone.
Peter held her soaking jacket in his hand and he looked distressed.
"It's-it's okay we will find her! Its-" I started to comfort him before a coo made our hearts fill
"Has anyone seen my coat?" Peter ran over to her and kneeled for cup her face with his hands.
"I don't think you'll be needing those coats anymore."

The camp had filled me with joy. Seeing my home again made my heart warm.
"My dad is in that tent over there." I pointed to a yellow and red striped tent identical to the ones around it just a lot larger. Maybe to fit a lion in it, who would have guessed?
We all stood around the tent and soon the wind blew open the opening and out stepped my father who was shinier than I remembered.
Peter stared at the lion as he brushed out. He subconsciously gripped onto my hand.
"Peter." I scolded. He released my hand and we all bowed.
"You don't need to bow my girl." Aslans voice shook my skull. I stood and hugged him, wrapping my arms around his fluffy mane.
"And what are you guys here for?" Alsan turned to the humans accompanied by the beavers
"We have come here to bring our brother back. He was taken by the white witch."
Everyone gasped and started to cry out.
"Silence!" Aslan commanded the entire village with one roar.
Rest assured, my dad would get him back.

Edmund walked through the field with my father and I noticed he looked a little beaten up. No doubt the white witch had something to do with it. He stood at the top of the hill and I remembered when Peter stood in the same spot when he got his pep talk. Peter ended up spilling everything that was said to me later.
"Edmund!" Lucy shouted which made him turn. Peter held her and told her to wait.
In time they both made their way down and a reunion took place. Their breakfast was light accept for Edmund who shoved an entire loaf of bread in his mouth. It made my stomach turn, I knew he had been starved.
"You guys should pack then." Peter started
"What? We are leaving?" Lucy whined
"You guys are."
"What do you mean?"
"I promised mom I'd keep you safe."
"And you also promised we'd stick together." I reminded him. "You promised me."

Peter walked up after his talk with my dad and he smiled at me.
"Feeling less nervous?"
"Yes. Your dad is very convincing."
"So you'll stay right? We will all stay together?"
"Yes. When Edmund gets back we will all be together."
"Promise?"
"Promise."

"I know what I promised." Peter snapped
I looked at him with sorrow and concern.
"Peter." I reached out for him "no one is leaving."
"Besides, didn't the prophecy say four humans?" Edmund spoke up.
"Yeah. Aslan needs us... all four of us." Lucy chimed
"Well... better get some practice then." Susan stood up and trialed her bow behind her.

My heart stuttered. I saw her again. The white witch. She was as cold as I remembered. I had only seen her once before and it wasn't pleasant.
"I've come to collect my life." She boomed to aslan.
"What? The boy?"
"Yes the boy. His blood is my property. Or have you forgotten?"
"Don't recite the deep magic to me witch. I was there when it was written." She stared at him coldly and he broke. "We shall talk."
My heart raced as much as it first did. As we sat on the grass and waited for the answer, my palms sweated. I rubbed them on my dress and sighed.
"It'll be alright. Aslan won't let anything happen to him." Peter whispered and held onto my hand.
"I know... that's what I'm scared of."
The tent opened and they both walked out. The air seemed thick and silent.
"The witch has renounced her claim on the son of adams blood." Everyone cheered as she walked back to her chair.
"Don't forget our deal." Alsan roared, shocking her to sit down. She had soon left, but not soon enough. I glanced over to my father who had a sad look etched onto his face. I knew this couldn't be good.

My intuition was right. That night I was left alone in a tent. I stared at the ceiling unable to sleep. I could feel something was off but maybe it was because I was alone. I was alone but not before Edmund came rushing in. He looked at me glumly and sighed.
"I'm so sorry y/n."
When Peter came in slowly, he grabbed my hands and told me the news. After the words had left his mouth I didn't know what to do. My ears started to ring and my mind went blank. I looked at them, they were trying to speak to me but I couldn't hear them.
I stumbled around and out of the tent. I tripped over my own feet and fell to my knees. By then the only thing I could get out was a scream.
Aslan has sacrificed himself. He's gone. He's already given himself
He's gone.
My heart shattered into pieces. I couldn't fathom what was happening. I couldn't be alone again. He was all I had for family. Why did he have to do this?
Peter kneeled next to me and pulled me into his body. I sobbed into him and he hugged tighter. My throat closed in on itself and I grasped peters shirt for some ground.
How could this ever end?

My sobs turned into whimpers and Peter pulled me back to my bed.
"Just go to sleep please. We need you to be rested for tomorrow."
"I can't." I mumbled "I can't sleep. I'm all alone."
"You're not alone. You have Edmund, Susan, Lucy, the whole village... and..."Peter stopped for a minute "you have me. You'll always have me." Peter moved in next to me and wrapped his arm around me.
"Please don't leave me Peter." I felt my eyes get heavy as my body relaxed
"I'm not going to. I'm not going to leave you. Never."
I backed into him till my back touched his chest. I felt his warmth grip me to relaxation.

"So what now?"
"Why are you guys looking at me?" Peter asked
"You're our leader now Peter. Aslan put you in charge." Edmund informed.
"I don't know what to do!"
I heard the muffled speech from my tent while I was coming back to the real world. I had fallen asleep so hard I didn't notice Peter wake up. I turned over and the other side of the bed was still warm. I smiled and nodded to myself. I put my shoes on and walked out to see them around a table. I put my hand on peters shoulder and he turned to me. He smiled down at me and pulled me toward the table.
"So what are we doing Peter? What's our plan?" Edmund asked. Peter shook his head and looked at the map.
"I've been studying but I'm not an expert."
I subtly grabbed his hand.
"Do what you can." I encouraged.
"Then here's what I got."

It was a solid plan. He's got it. And we have to run with it.
I grabbed all the armor off the stand and started to put it on. I fiddled with the chest plate but I couldn't quite get the back.
Peter walked in on perfect timing.
"Peter, can you help me?" He walked up, putting down his arm cuffs and pulled on my chest plate.
"Can you also pull my corset tighter? It's getting too loose."
Peter fiddled with the strings. I felt his fingers brush against my skin. It tingled everywhere it touched and even when it left I felt my skin grow hot in its remembrance.
I let out a shaky sigh, hoping to not let Peter know I was feeling this way.
"There you go. Should fit better now." He whispered.
"Th-thanks."
He finished tying my chest plate and then helped my hands with my cuffs and smaller armor pieces.
He started to play with my hands as he pulled on my gloves.
My heart pounded again.
"You look nervous." Peter called me out.
"Yeah. A little."
"Is it for the war or something else?" He smirked not looking up from his work on my hands.
"Umm.. I don't know what else I would be nervous for."
"Well by the looks of it even me being around you makes you nervous, let alone me touching you like this."
"P-Peter."
"It's alright. I'm nervous too."
"About the war..."
"About you."
"O-oh."
I didn't know what more to say.
"You're done. Everything feel good? Anything missing?"
"No." I was content.
"I think there is one thing missing."
I scanned my body, nothing seemed to be missing.
"What is it?"
He pulled me into him.
"A kiss for good luck. May I?"
I just nodded and he pulled my chin upward. He pressed his lips softly to mine. Nothing lustful, just a tender sweet kiss.
"Now I think you're ready."

The battle happened not long afterward, it was all a blur but I just remember cut after cut and death after death. The swords and axes that were launched and stuck into bodies bounded in my memory forever. But the thing that stuck most was the moment where both boys went down. Edmund struck the white witches staff causing It's power to leave. After he was stabbed. That was the first moment my heart left. The second was when I saw Peter, in a ball of rage, run at the witch. My heart, endlessly strung on a fishing line to him, wailed when he was stabbed in the arm. But like one piece after another it was put together as a lion with a glorious mane ran in and ended the witches life.
My dad, he was alive, aslan was alive.
I ran toward him, he toppled over as I tackled him.
"You're alive. You're alive." I cried. He nuzzled into my hair and I felt him breathe through his nose into my ear which tickled. I laughed and wiped my temple on his torso.
"Where's Edmund?" Susan gasped. I remember what had happened to him and made a beeline for him. Lucy's vile of magic helped him live and for the first time I saw the two boys look like they actually loved each other.

"How's you're arm?" I asked Peter as he looked in the mirror.
"It's doing alright."
"Does it still hurt?" I asked. I stood behind him but placed my hand on the bandage. He held my hand on his arm but then moved it up to his lips to give it a warm kiss.
"No. Thankfully not."
I looked at us in the mirror, Peter seemed to look older than when he first got here. I seemed more beat down which was development enough for me.
"Who would have thought this is how we'd turn out?"
"I know. Who would have thought we'd meet each other?"
"And now you're gonna be king of a kingdom. Funny how that works out." I rested my head on his shoulder still looking in the mirror. His light blue outfit looked perfect on him.
He's gonna be king. So where does that leave me?
"Excuse me? Sir? They are ready for you." A servant walked in.
I let him go and took my place in the crowd. I watched as everyone was given their crowns and the crowd cheered.
Where was I in this? What would I be in the future?
I felt heavy. While I was watching one of the most momentous occasions and an occasion for someone I loved, it felt sad. Sad because he was moving on. Was I going to be a part of his future now that he's king? It worried me.

The party was big and lasted forever. I felt overwhelmed and decided to make my leave. I walked to the stone balcony and breathed in the air.
"Party not your scene?" A voice lovingly joked
"Nah, not a party person." I responded.
"I sense you're a little down. What's got your crown slipping?"
"I'm just... lost. Where do I fit after this? You're king now. Am I still important to you? Can I even be with you anymore?"
"You think too much."
"What do you mean?"
"Y/n... I love you. I really do. When I get older..." he looked down at his hands "I'm gonna marry you."
I was shocked, he was so confident.
"You... you want to marry me?"
"When we are older of course. We have a lot of life to live."
"Right..." that didn't change anything he said. He said he was going to marry me.
"I asked your father if it was okay. He gave me his permission. He knows."
"But what if you leave? The same way you came. What then?"
"I won't. Our life is here now."
"So you really want me forver?"
"Forever."

Years past and Peter was almost 19. He had been subtly hinting to me about marriage and it has become a pretty open topic to the entire kingdom. Everyone was buzzing for when the king would finally get a queen. Or at least officially make his queen royalty.
It was a night out, Peter and I were by the beach splashing around like we normally did, but something was different tonight.
The moon was a lot brighter. I loved the beach at night.
"Why does tonight feel different?" I asked him.
"Maybe..." he reached into his pocket "maybe because it is."
He turned to me and set his knee on the ground. It was happening.
"Y/n..."
"YES!" He burst out laughing
"Would you let me do my speech?" He laughed
"No! I say yes! No speech needed!" I laughed.
"Come on! This was supposed to be romantic!" We couldn't help but laugh through this. "I practiced for three weeks!"
"Okay okay" I tried to control my laugh "go on... do the speech."
"Well I can't now!"
"No seriously! Come on!" We were still laughing.
"Nope! Moment is over now!" He got up and pulled me in for a kiss. I kissed him with so much love and he put the ring on my finger. I gasped when I recognised the ring.
"Did my dad give this to you?"
"Yes. He told me to give it to you."
"I love you so much Peter."
"I love you too y/n."
"It's so beautiful." The ring shimmered in the moonlight.
Word had spread around the country quickly about the newly engaged couple and a new thrown to the royal family.
"Is it always gonna be this stressful?" I asked the maid as she helped adorn me in white.
"Always? I don't think so. Sometimes? Yes."
"That's reassuring." I nodded.
"How do you feel your majesty?"
"Nervous."
"I meant with the dress." She giggled
"Oh, I love it. It's perfect."
"Well then it's time."
It really was time. It was time for me to finally be Peter Pevensies wife.
