Chapter 31-EXPLOSION!

(Your POV)
After my match with Mercury, I watched the other fights after my own, which were Izuku vs Shinso, Issei vs Jotaro, and Ochako vs Bakugo. I was surprised to see Izuku win his match against Shinso, even after he fell under Shinso's control. Izuku used his quirk to not only send a massive gust of wind throughout the arena, but also used the pain to snap him out of Shinso's control.

As for the fight with Issei against Jotaro, Issei tried boosting his power to it's max level, but Jotaro had more experience and range compared to my friend. However, Issei held more speed than Jotaro and even managed to dodge Star Platinum for a while. That was until Jotaro grabbed onto Issei's leg and held him in place, allowing Star Platinum to land a couple clean hits that sent Issei flying.

Now the fight that shocked me the most, was Bakugo vs Ochako. I'm not going to lie, I expected this match to be entirely one sided at first but then I noticed Ochako was using Bakugo's rash nature to her advantage and used him to turn the ground into rocks that she could send into the air. Towards the end of the fight, Ochako dropped all of the rocks above Bakugo before attempting to uppercut him towards the end.

Sadly enough, Bakugo managed to blow all of the rubble with one hand and blast Ochako away with the other. In my opinion, that fight was anything but one sided. Sure, Bakugo had way more offensive power than Ochako, but Ochako's quirk is more versatile and creative. After their fight, the next rounds showed themselves on the screen, which was still too much for me to write down, so I'll just list the ones with my peerage again.

Sora vs Roronoa Zoro
Ilpyo Park vs Renji Abari
Khun Aguero Agnes vs Rias Gremory
Endorsi Zahad vs Kendo Itsuka
Dark vs Noriaki Kakyoin
Ethan vs Shuhei Hisagi
Mori Jin vs Monkey D. Luffy
Joe Mendez vs Kiba Inuzuka
Seraphina vs Nami
John vs Neito Monoma
Han Jihan vs Tsubaki Shinra
Kwon Shiyeon vs Naruto Uzamaki
Mira Yoo vs Momo Yaoyorozu
(Y/N) (L/N) vs Bakugo Katsuki
25th Bam vs Jotaro Kujo
Dawei Han vs Yang Xiao Long

As we looked at the list, I realized that Endorsi changed her last name for the tournament from Jahad to Zahad. I turned my attention to Endorsi, who was busy looking for her name at the time, as did Khun and Ilpyo. Endorsi finally realized all of us were staring at her, making her nervous.

"What?" Endorsi asked nervously, while our expressions remained unchanged. "Is there something on my face?"

"If you're trying to not get found out, you're doing an awful job." Khun commented, adjusting his tie as he did so. "Are you afraid of Jahad finding you?"

"We can take him, probably." Jihan confidently said, causing Endorsi to shake her head 'no'. "Huh, he's that scary?"

"Great, looks like we'll have to form a plan if he decides to attack us." I signed and brushed my hair back with my hand. "Bam, you've fought this Jahad guy before, correct?"

"Yeah, why?" Bam asked as he sat in the bench close to the screen which contained the list.

"Any information you can give on Jahad would be appreciated greatly, maybe Sung can kill him." I requested as I began thinking about what I know about Jahad, other than the fact that he wants to kill Bam for some reason. "Also, why the hell is Jahad wanting to kill you?"

"From my fight with him in the past, all I can say he's even better then I am when it comes to controlling shinsu, even making standing around him a problem." Bam remembered his fight with Jahad, trying his best to give me all the intel he can. "His shinsu type is a light orb, like mine is a water orb. So Sung might have trouble going against him."

"Thanks, Bam." I thanked the boy before remembering a question that's been bothering me for a while. "By the way, how did you guys get out of the tower?"

"It was thanks to a woman named Galaxia." Khun answered, sounding more cautious on the subject of this woman. "She's a woman capable of controlling and summoning space phenomena, such as black holes, strange matter, white dwarfs, and so on. She used her power to split the tower in half, sending all of the shinsu that once filled the tower into the world we now live in. I don't know why she did it, but I think she said she was looking for her daughter."

"So let me get this straight...some all powerful crazy lady split open a giant, magical tower just to look for her daughter?" I asked, somehow not used to these kinds of things. "I feel it."

"In any case, we still have allies all over we can count on." Bam remembered, gaining a faint smile on his face. "Like Yuri, Hwaryun, Shibisu, and Evan!"

"Yeah...that sounds like something we should talk about in the next volume." I suggested before realizing Sora's fight was starting up. "Also, Sora, want a bag of Doritos?"

"Sure." Sora answered as I reached into my [Inventory] to pull out [Bag of Doritos], which restore 20 points of health...am I living in a JRPG? "Thanks (Y/N)."

After handing Sora the Doritos, the swordsman proceeded to exit the waiting room to meet her dangerous opponent. I then began planning on who else means my peerage could be facing off. I knew Ursula had my clan's abilities, but her version is more oriented to the snow and cold, compared to mine. Now I have to deal with Jahad trying to kill Bam and potentially everyone else, which I can probably take care of if I could get my hands in Spellbreaker from Skyrim, but I can't get any more weapons from that game until I reach lvl 40. So how can me and my peerage defeat Jahad...

"Is now a bad time to mention we pissed off the Jade Emperor?" Mori nonchalantly said out of nowhere, causing my head to turn to so quickly you could hear a pop.

"How the fuck did you guys piss off a dead guy?!"

(Timeskip, brought to you by Rak, Seungchul, and Sujin sitting in the stands with Yoshino, Sung, Lorem, Gospel, and Esdeath)

It was now my turn to fight against Bakugo, but that wasn't my biggest concern. My biggest concern was how all my peerage members all lost their fights, Endorsi, Ethan, John, Sera, Joe, Mira, and Ilpyo were the only people who didn't lose their fights. Thankfully, none of their opponents proved to be stronger than them, most of my peerage members who lost simply went out of bounds by accident.

To start off the list, Sora had trouble keeping up with Zoro's use of haki, since her ego sword can't devour haki completely. Plus Zoro had more options in his sword techniques, while Sora had more power. Zoro managed to use his superior sword usage to his advantage and won the match, but he was a good sport and even offered to give Zoro some tips on training.

Next up is Khun's fight with Rias, which was mostly one sided. Rias used her destruction magic on Khun's lighthouses, and Khun doesn't really have any other items aside from his knife, so he saw it as too much effort and resigned from the match. Khun's only weakness is that he's the only one in my peerage with normal human stats, so he relies on items like his lighthouses and knife to help him gain the advantage.

As for the match against Kakyoin, it was a pretty close call. Dark had the advantage in combat, but Kakyoin had the advantage in trapping and planning. Dark kept darting around the arena, but he was quickly aight by one of Hierophant Green's tentacle things and thrown out of the arena, forcing him out of the match.

Mori and Jihan both lost their matches for the same reasons, their opponents were able to reflect their attacks back at them. Jihan got a little too confident when the match first started and created a massive mana ball to attack Tsubaki, but Tsubaki has a Sacred Gear. Tsubaki's Sacred Gear seems to be able to reflect magic attacks with some increase in power, and you can see how that resulted in Jihan's loss. As for Mori, he didn't know Luffy had a rubbery body. So when Mori tried to land a drop kick on Luffy, he was sent flying out of the arena.

In my opinion, Shiyeon's loss was a load of crap. Shiyeon was having no trouble facing off against most of Naruto's clones, until two of the clones managed to hold her in place while the real one landed a rasengan to the stomach in order to send her flying. What kind of anime protagonist bullshit just happened there you may be wondering? Well I have no idea. I've just been spamming my clan's powers and copied abilities this entire book.

In any case, I walked back into the arena with my [Sword of the Father] in my hand as Bakugo and I walked onto the arena, causing the slots to start running again. Bakugo and I simply stared at each other, while the explosively tempered guy in front of me grins and created small explosions from his palms.

"You better not go easy on me you damn Prince." Bakugo demanded that I return with an amused laugh. "What's so funny?"

"Ever hear of the Dunning Krueger effect?" I rhetorically asked before getting into battle position, still gripping my sword with one hand. "I think you are the perfect example of it."

"Shut up." Bakugo got annoyed as the match officially began and the terrain was selected.

On Bakugo's side, was a desert of sorts, while there was a savanna grassland behind me. Bakugo started off the fight by using his explosion quirk to send him at me at a rapid speed, my opponent then raised his foot to try and kick me as he flew at me. I parried his kick before summoning [Areadbhar] to try and stab Bakugo, but he sent more explosions from his palms to send him upwards. I attempted to pierce him once more with my spear, but he flew behind me and used his quirk on my back, sending me into the desert region.

I quickly realized fighting Bakugo in close quarters would be suicide, given his mobility advantage and tenacity, so I dismissed both of my weapons for my angels [Uriel and Ariel]. I aimed both pistols at Bakugo's current position and began firing, noticing that I shot small (f/c) balls of energy instead of normal bullets, which is fine by me. Bakugo on the other hand used his explosive palms to gain boosts in speed as he ran at me, dodging bullets as he did so.

Bakugo dodged every bullet I sent at him, so I decided to try charging up one pistol and keep firing the other. I held the trigger of Ariel to see the gun was charging while I still used Uriel to keep Bakugo in his toes. Once the boy was in front of me, I released Ariel's trigger to summon a giant (f/c) orb that blew up in Bekugo's face. This sent both me and Bakugo flying back, with me landing with my back against a wall.

However, I barely reacted to Bakugo flying at me once more and forced me to dodge his fist as he punched me, blowing up the rocky wall I was against. I used this to my advantage and fired a shot at Bakugo's stomach, which sent him upwards and I tried aiming at a now airborne Bakugo. Not surprisingly, Bakugo kept on spamming his quirk and was now flying using the power of explosions.

Getting annoyed by this, I started charging up both guns as Bakugo pointed his palm at me. I was confident he couldn't hit me from that distance, since his explosions were pretty small, but I was completely caught off guard when he created an explosion large enough to reach me. I quickly used [Holy] from my [Ring of Lucii] to send myself back and leave a transparent, (f/c) clone to take the hit for me. Once the explosion hit my double, a bright (f/c) engulfed the area to temporarily blind Bakugo. Forcing him to stop using his explosions to land into the sand and rub his eyes, allowing me to point both [Uriel and Ariel] at him, both of which were fully charged.

"Use shout: [Iiz Slen Nuz]!" I shouted at the boy's direction, sending a wave of frosty breath that encased Bakugo in ice the moment it hit.

After encasing Bakugo in ice, I released both the triggers of my guns, both of which sent two massive (f/c) orbs at Bakugo, who watched in horror as two orbs flew at him. This created a large (f/c) explosion to engulf the area before Bakugo emerged from the smoke, looking like he just sustained minor injuries. Bakugo simply grinned madly at my little trick before holding up his palm to show off a few sparks.

"Nice try (Y/N), maybe you're not some entitled fish brat like your entire family." Bakugo grinned, kind of pissing me off with his comment. "However, I'm resistant to explosions, so you'll have to do better than that."

I quickly shook these comments out of my head and took aim once more as Bakugo charged at me again, allowing me to activate [V.A.T.S] to slow down take aim and take aim at Bakugo's arms. I quickly used both of my pistols to fire four bullets at Bakugo's arms each, only to see that only one bullet hit the right arm and three hit the left. Sadly, the explosions don't do much to Bakugo, since his quirk is literally explosions.

Bakugo raised his hand to deliver an explosive right hook, which I didn't have enough time to react to so I just took the attack head on. That's when I noticed that the attack burned the left half of my face and somehow cut the edge of my mouth. Despite the pain, I used Uriel to fire a single bullet at Bakugo's head as I felt the cut repair itself thanks to my quirk, [Black Dragon]. Another thing I noticed is that whenever I used my quirk, the parts I regenerate are immune to whatever originally damaged them in the first place. Well, until the quirk wears off. Plus they're as strong as the force behind the attack too, making this not the best defensive ability, but the best countering ability.

Making the best of the shock on Bakugo's face, I used [Rope Dart] in the edge of a tall rock behind Bakugo before reading myself towards the rock and using my spare hand to fire at Bakugo's back. Bakugo was getting noticeably frustrated, and his explosions were getting larger. That's when it hit me, Bakugo's explosions are powered by his sweat, so of course he'd get stronger as time went on. The only weaknesses to his quirk would be the backlash and a possible shortage of endurance.

I figured that dealing some kind of ice damage would officially out Bakugo out of commission, but none of my weapons are ice-based and my shouts need time to recharge. So I took aim with my pistols and did all I can, hoping some random idea would work. Bakugo once again ran up to me, dodging bullets and getting more annoyed as time went on. Perfect. Bakugo then destroyed the rock I was standing on causing me to jump off before I used [Elven Sprint]  toun into the savanna.

Once I was at the different terrain, I slid into the tall grass and crouched the stay hidden. I heard Bakugo shouted in annoyance as he ran into the savanna terrain, allowing me to enact my plan. I fired a single bullet from Bakugo's 7 o'clock before dashing to his 3 o'clock to fire another bullet. Bakugo looked in the directions I fired from, gritting his teeth as he struggled to find out where I was.

I continued the process of running around Bakugo at random to fire bullet, but then Bakugo finally hit his boiling point. My opponent outstretched his arms to allow his palms to face outwards before spinning and sending massive explosions around the tall grass. As he did this, I summoned [Keyblade] and three it into the air above Bakugo. I then warped atop of the Blade before dismissing it and pointing both bullets at the fiery rage below.

I used Ariel to absorb the flames Bakugo was sending all over the dry grasslands around him, which ignited the entire terrain. With my pistol, I absorbed the flames as Bakugo realized he was too late. After I absorbed the last spark, I felt the energy of the flames flow through me and into Uriel before firing the gun. Shortly after firing my gun, a massive wave of ice was sent in Bakugo's direction and he tired to put up a fight against it, the ice froze his sweat and made it useless. Then the ice eventually won the match and sent Bakugo out of the arena, disqualifying him and making me the winner.

"Looks like that was an EXPLOSIVE finish?" Korosensei joked as the terrain went back to normal, getting groans from the crowd.

"It was a close call, but (Y/N) inventory and ability to seemingly read minds granted him this victory." Aizawa mentioned while I dismissed my weapons and walked off the stage and over to Bakugo to hold me hand out.

"What the hell are you doing?" Bakugo asked, while I just smirked in response. "What's so funny? Are you looking down at me?!"

"No, I'm helping you up because I want to fight you again at some point." I informed the boy, confusing him. "When you want someone to play another game against you, it's always a good idea to be a good sport, and I wanna fight against you at some point in the future."

"I'll admit you're not some scumbag, but you're freaking weird." Bakugo jokes before he grabbed my hand with a strong grip, allowing me to pull him up.

"Hey, weird people are the ones who add color to the world, so I'll take that as a compliment." I remarked as the two of us let go of each other's hands and walked back to the waiting room.

(Timeskip, brought to you by Khun giving Rias an evil glare)

After my fight with Bakugo, I walked back into the waiting room to be met with my peerage members who weren't disqualified all congratulating me. Bam had to cut the celebration short since he was right after me in his fight against Jotaro. After Bam left, all of us sat down at a nearby table to watch Bam's fight against Jotaro and talk a bit more. Of course, Endorsi was giving me advice on how to figure out whether or not a girl's into me and I told her how to get Bam interested in her.

"Hey (Y/N), I noticed that you got angrier when Bakugo insulted your family, so what's up with that?" Dawei asked after I explained to Endorsi how just being there can help get Bam interested. "I don't want to intrude on personal business, but you seem to consider family to be sacred."

"Well, It has to do more with war than you might think." I scratched the back on my neck, gaining everyone's attention. "Even after the Great War killed off a large percentage of them, the three factions will always outnumber our clan."

"How many people are in your clan anyways?" Joe asked before taking a tip of soda. "I've only seen images of you, your grandfather, parents, and four other people."

"Those are the only people who were born into the clan." I answered honestly, surprising everyone. "Ryujin isn't Zeus, so he doesn't have sex with everything under the sun. Now you can already see an issue, can you?"

"Not really." John answered, but Ethan spoke up this time to take a guess as to why staying close with my family involves warfare.

"So I take it all of these people have peerage of their own?" Ethan asks, to which I nod in response. "So if every peerage has 20 pieces, there are eight kings, and they can capture up to 19 people in a fight. That means there are currently 160 to 312 people currently in the clan."

"Wait, peerage members are also in the clan?" Seraphina asks in a shocked voice, gaining a nod from me. "Sweet, guess I'm royalty now."

"Still, 312 people is the best case scenario of people we have should another Great War occur this instant." I announced to my peerage members. "Sure, the other three faction's numbers have gone down, but they still outnumber us drastically. That's why everyone in the clan isn't hesitant to help one another, we need to help each other in order to even stand a chance in the Great War."

"Why don't we get the help of other gods?" Mira advised, making everyone look at her, causing her to get nervous. "I mean, if all angels, devils, and fallen angels can get along with their race, then why can't gods?"

"Well that's not a bad plan, before you realize that the vast majority of gods hide in their own plane of existence." I grabbed a water bottle from my [Inventory] and drank from it. "Plus not all gods get along, gods like Zeus piss off Ryujin a great deal, and you can guess why. Although, we do have ally gods, such as Cernunnos in Europe and Shiva in India, some of the few gods Ryujin can get along with. Although, Cernunnos was always terrified of my relic for some reason..."

(Even more foreshadowing)

"Wait, why does Ryujin get along with Cernunnos and Shiva?" Ilpyo asked curiously, trying to better  understand the situation. "Cernunnos is the master of wild things, Shiva is the protector of Vedas, and Ryujin is the dragon god of the seas. Why do they get along if they have nothing in common?"

"They have their differences to be sure, but they all understand what it means to be a god." I explained, remembering a picture of the three gods in question. "Being a god is helping those who worship you, inspiring children with your tales, and slaying demons, my favorite part. However, it's also worth noting Ryjin gets along with more than just those two, Cernunnos and Shiva are just the representatives of a council they hold every year."

"Do they also have peerages or something?" Ethan asked, trying to understand how he'll be working.

"Yeah, but they're not shogi like ours." I answered before trying to remember both their respective games. "Shiva's pieces are from a game called chaturanga or chaturaji, and Cernunnos' is courier chess."

"Alright, last question." Joe announced as he chewed his sandwich before swallowing it. "How do they get to the underwater palace?"

"Ryujin has a specialized chariot that's designed for each of them, which is pulled by large fish from their respective regions." I answered before finishing off the water and putting the remaining plastic in my [Inventory]. "C'mon, what kind of underwater god doesn't have chariots for their guests?"

"High living, with (Y/N) (L/N)." Joe responded in a high-class British accent, gaining a couple laughs from everyone at the table.

"Oh please, if you ask Ryujin for something, he'll give you one the moment he realizes you're in my peerage." I responded, causing everyone to suddenly get excited with the offer. "I know what you guys are thinking, and yes, we'll visit my grandfather's palace over the summer."

"Hell yeah!" Ethan cheered excitedly, pumping his fist into the air. "I'm getting myself a chariot!"

"I'll probably request funding for my family's dojo." Mirai optimistically thought to herself.

"Maybe I can finally afford a house in California." John thought to himself, making us all go silent.

"Jesus John, he's a god of the ocean, not the god of riches." I reminded the guy, who smirked at this. "Try asking for something cheaper. Like a mansion or a sports car, but don't ask for a weapon just to steal the pillar."

"Didn't Sun Wukong do that?" Ilpyo thought out loud, before all of us remembered that Mori is the reincarnation of Sun Wukong, so Mori is the guy who stole the pillar from my grandfather's palace.

"Remind me to tell Mori he is the worst houseguest ever." I requested Endorsi, who nodded in response.

After that conversation, all of us began talking once more, but we talked more about ways we can improve ourselves to prepare for our fight against Riser. Dawei told us that he was planning on finding a way to increase his speed and/or better control Haetae's power. Mira also informed us that she was doing the exact opposite, which is to improve her defense and work in her charyeok. Joe said he was going to try and improve his control over nature, and maybe even learn to control plants if he could. John and Sera both agreed to take martial arts from Endorsi, who was going to request the royal blacksmith to repair some of her equipment that was broken a while back.

"So what about you, (Y/N)?" Ethan asked as he started taking notes on his phone, while I just leaned back in my chair. "How are you going to improve yourself?"

"I think I have an idea..." I dragged in overdramatically while smirking, I Hope Riser is watching this Tournament, cause he's gonna need all the help he can get.

(A/N: I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and don't worry about those two gods I mentioned, they won't show up until the end of this series, whenever that might be. So your next fight is going to be..Rin and Todoroki. Yes two at once, but that's because Rin's fight is going to be relatively short. Why? Well lighting+metal don't go well together.
