Anushman tried to cup her face but she took her step back and stopped him lowering her head.

She asked again. He took his deep breathe and said in his hushed tone.

"Andru ennaal vegu neram angu irukka mudiyavillai, Seervizhi"

(I couldn't stay there for long that day, Seervizhi)

One of her friends asked her frowning.

She sat on the stone, grabbing her leg, while others examined her foot.

"Seervizhi, kurudhi varugiradhu"

Valli shouted in shock.

"Poru Valli.. Kalaiyarasi.. en udaigalai pidithu kol"

(Relax Valli.. Kalaiyarasi.. hold on my clothes)

After several tries..,

They all turned towards the voice to see the man in his black veshti, with the black cloth wrapped crisscross to cover his sizzled upper body. And he carried a quiver on one shoulder, a bow on the other, and a sword scabbard on his waist belt. But they were frowned to discover his face covered in the same black material, leaving only his eyes to be visible.

Seervizhi's friends gawked at him making her to shook her in slightly in disbelief.

"Yaar thaangal?"

(Who are you?)

Seervizhi asked him inbetween hissing.

"Ennai patri irukkattum.. aanaal thangal kaalil ulla mullai ippozhudhu yedukka villai endraal adhu vishamaaga maari koorum"

"Aiyo enna koorugireergal thaangal?Aiyo arasarku mattum therindhaal engalaiyum saerthu thandippaare.. aiyo ippodhu naam enna seivadhu?"

(What are you even saying? if the king came to know this, he will punish us as well.. what shall we do now?)

Valli started to blabber. Seervizhi rolled her eyes and hitted her arm a little.

Amaidhiyaaga iru Valli.. mm.. thaam kooruvadhu unmayaa?

(Keep calm, valli.. mm.. is what you say true?)

Seervizhi asked the man.

"Aam Ilavarasi, enadhu naamam Devan aagum.. naan indha kaatil dhaan irandu maadhangal aaga irukkiren.. enakku ingu irukkum anaithu palam, maram pondra anaithinai patriyum nanku theriyum.. adhanaal neengal oppukondaal naan thangalukku udhavi seigiren"

Seervizhi looked at her friends, who nodded their heads in fear of losing their friend to the thorne's poison.

Seervizhi looked at him. 

Devan approached her and kneeled, placing his left knee on the ground and his right foot on the ground.

He took her legs, seeing her eyes. She looked into his eyes and started dancing to it's rhythm. He smiled, bowed his head, and took the thorns one by one, layer by layer. She winced in pain and fisted Valli's wrist.

"Ahh muruga perumaaney"

(Oh god)

Seervizhi gave her stealthy look and let go of her hand by seeing her glare.

"Inimel konjam vali koodum.. poruthukollungal"

(It will hurt even more from now on. Please bear with me.)

Seervizhi just hummed, looking at him. She traced his facial features, which were visible to her, amongst the mask. His thinned brows and thin eyelashes were dancing up and down to his each and every blink and then gazed his shoulder muscles and chest. She blinked, and her face broke out into a smile without her knowledge, but soon she hissed and placed her palm on his bare shoulder. When he pricked the thorn from her foot frocefully at last. He lifted his face up and looked at her. Both of their eyes got locked. Her friends exchanged glances, and teasingly, Valli nudged her shoulder. Seervizhi averted her gaze, blushing. Devan smiled and got up.

"Manjal vaithaal.."

(If you place turmeric..)

He stopped when she stood up from the stine.

"Vali illayaa thangalukku?"

(Don't you have pain?)

"Illai"

(No)

"Mmm.. yedho poovin mullaaga irukkum endru ninaikiren.. seri appo naan utharavu vaangi kolgiren Ilavarasi.."

(Hmm.. I think it must be a flower thorn.. okay, I will take my leave, Princess..)

Seervizhi nodded her head. He smiled and turned back to leave but stopped hearing..,

"Oru nimidam"

Seervizhi frowned looking at her friend, Valli.

"Thaam yaar'endru engalin Ilavarasi vinavinaargaley.. adharku vidai alikkaamalayae selgireergal?"

(Our princess asked who are you.. but you're leaving without answering her?)

"Valli.. amaidhiyaaga iru"

 Seervizhi shushed her but Valli nudged her back, blinking her eyes. Devan smiled.

"Naan ingu dhaan andai naatil vasikiren endru koorinenae.. tharpodhu samaipadharkaaga viragu yedukka kaattirkul vandhen"

(I told you that I live here in the nearby country.. now I came into the forest to fetch some firewoods for cooking)

"Viragu edukka yedharku vil, ambugal?"

Another friend of Seervizhi asked him. Seervizhi rolled her eyes at them hitting her forehead. Devan smiled looking at her.

"Viragum, adupum irundhaal podhumaa.. saapida palangal yaedhum vendaamaa? Avaigalai edukka'thaan ambum, villum"

(Is it enough to have wood and an stove for cooking? Do you not want any fruits to eat, so the bow and arrow are to take them)

"Ohh.. aamaam.. yen unadhu mugathinai thuniyaal maraithu vaithirukkiraai?"

(Oh.. thenn.. why are you covering your face with a cloth?)

"Podhum niruthu Valli.. mannithu vidungal.. thaangal sellungal ingirundhu.. avargalukkaaga naan thangalidam mannipu kaettu kolgiren.. vaarungal.. yeppozhudhum paarthaalum vilayaatu.."

(Enough Valli.. I'm sorry.. you may go.. I apologize to you behalf of them.. come girls.. always playing around...)

Seervizhi walked ahead. Her friends followed her behind but they all halted on their steps hearing..,

"Ilavarasi acham kolvadhu pola therigiradhe?"

(Is the princess scared?)

They turned around to see him standing there with his hands on either side of his waist and a smirk on his face.

Seervizhi raised her eyebrows at him.

"Enakku thangal idathil enna acham irukka pogiradhu? Thaangal ennai enna seidhu viduveergal?"

(What shall I be afraid of you? What will you do to me?)

"Enna vendum aanaalum seiyalaam"

(I can do whatever I want)

Moving towards her.

"Thangaludan saerthu aaru pengal.. naan otrai aan magan.."

(Six girls along with you.. I am a single man..)

Stood before her and gazed them all from top to toe. Her friends gulped and hided behind her.

"Enna vendum aanaalum sei.."

(Can do whatev..)

He stopped looking at her with a smirk by bending his head back a little when she took her sword in swift and placed it against his neck.

"Pe..pengal endraal enna vendum aan..aanaalum seiv..seiveergalaa?"

(Wi..will you do any..anything if it's a wo..woman?)

She stammered, and her fingers trembled as she held the sword at his neck. He saw her eyes and grabbed her wrist. 

She narrowed her eyebrows, he smirked and spun her towards him, before she could react. Her back was hitted on his front, She gasped and closed her eyes in fear. But, when he placed the sword on Seervizhi's neck, her friends' eyes widened in shock and their mouths were covered with their palms.

"Seiven"

(I'll do)

He whispered in her ears which made her to gulp.
