Chapter 17 💜🦋

Hello 😀

Vaanga vaanga story kulla polaa 🚴🏻‍♀️💜🦋

*********

✷●

Adhyaayam padhinezhu

Unmai

(The truth)

✷●

Once everyone had assembled in the hall, Yezhisai's eyes narrowed at Seervizhi, who was clutching Anushman's hand tightly in fear.

"Anilamudhaa"

Anushman called out.

"Anna"

(Brother)

Anilamudhan responded with a smile,.

Anushman asked with a serious tone,

"Avanindhan engey?"

(Where is Avanindhan?)

Before Anilamudhan could reply,

Anushman caught sight of Avanindhan emerging from his room through corner of his eye.

Avanindhan approached and stood in front of him, about to speak,

"Anna naan.."

(Brother, I..)

But Anushman cut him off with a gesture of his palm.

Avanindhan swallowed hard and fell silent.

"Naan netru enna nadandhadhu endru ketkapovadhu illai Avanindhaa. Appadi ketpadhu evvalavu periya kutram enbadhai naan ariven"

(I won't ask you anything about yesterday because I know how grave it would be to do so).

Anushman finished his statement and looked up, finding Avanindhan's gaze suddenly lowered.

"Aanaal.."

(But..)

He paused, and Avanindhan looked at him. Anushman continued,

"Netru athunai perum en manaiviyai poi aana oru pali kootrai solli kutram saatiyapodhu nee engirundhaai Avanindhaa?"

(Where were you yesterday, Avanindhaa, when everyone falsely accused my wife?)

Avanindhan gulped.

"Adhu ondrum poi alla Anush.."

(That's the truth, Anush..)

Anushman turned towards the voice, maintaining a stern expression.

"Naan ketpavar mattum enakku badhil alithaal podhum"

(The one I asked alone should answer me.)

Yezhisai glared at him and fell silent.

"Sol"

(Tell me.)

Anushman said to Avanindhan, turning back to him.

"Ing..ingu dhaan anna irundhen"

(I was here, brother.)

Avanindhan shuddered as he spoke. Anushman continued to stare at him.

"Enna seidhu kondirundhaai?"

(What were you doing then?)

Anushman asked. Avanindhan lowered his gaze, closed his eyes, and replied with a shaky voice,

"Anna naan.. naan amma vai thadukka muyarchi seidhen anna. Aanaal amma.."

(Brother, I.. I tried to stop my mother, but she..)

Anushman cut him off.

"Podhum Avanindhaa. Podhum. Aanaal unmelum yendha kutramum illai, enmel dhaan, naan dhaan thavaru"

(Enough, Avanindhan. It's enough. But you too have no mistakes. The fault is mine. It's all my fault.)

Anushman felt a deep sense of guilt.

Avanindhan tried to grab his arm.

"Anna ennai.."

(Brother, I..)

But he stopped with teary eyes when Anushman stepped back, raising his hand.

Other brothers and Anbazhagi felt even more sorrow for Avanindhan. They tried to speak but fell silent under their elder brother's intense gaze at the main culprit, Yezhisaiyarasi, who stood there staring straight at him.

They left him to confront her. She deserved to hear every word from their brother, so they remained silent.

"Ivvalavu naatkal aaga, ennai thaan pali koorineergal, ippodhu en manaivi thangalai enna chithi seidhaal? Aval enna thavaru seidhaal? Avalukku yen ivvalavu periya dhandanai? Ippalikootrai ketkum alavirku thangalai Aval enna seidhu vittaal?"

(After all these days, you have accused me of wrongdoings. What has my wife done now, aunt? What mistake has she committed? Why is she being accused so seriously? What has she done to deserve this?)

His face showed complete disappointment.

Seervizhi lifted her face to look at him.

"Koorungal chithi, en Seervizhi enna thavaru seidhaal ivvaaru oru pali kootrai aval meedhu yen sumathineergal?"

(Tell me, aunt, what mistake has Seervizhi made that has led to such a serious accusation against her?)

He shouted.

"Kutram saatiyadhu naan dhaan..Adhupola avvaaru nadandhukondadhum un man.."

(I am the one who made the blame. But even then, your wife...)

Yezhisai murmured loudly but stopped when he started to roar.

"Podhum niruthungal. Innum oru vaarthai... Innum oru vaarthai en pennai patri koorineergal endraal thangal mun nindru verum vaai vaarthaiyaal naan urayaadi kondiruppen endru ninaikaadheergal"

(Stop. One more word... One more word against my wife and you will see how I will react. Don't think that I will just stand here and take those silently.)

He glared at her.

"Anushman. Avargal unadhu chithi"

(Anushman, she is your aunt.)

Eezhamadhi intervened for her sister. Anushman looked at her, and his breath grew heavy.

"Avargal avvaaru nadandhu kolla villai Eezhamadhi chithi. Ingirukkum anaivarum ennai enna vendumaanaalum pesalaam adharku naane mulu samadham alithirukiren, indru varaiyil ennai thaangal enna koorinaalum poruthu kondu dhaan irundhen.. tharpodhum avvaaru dhaan irukkiren"

(But she didn't behave that way Eezhamadhi, aunt. Everyone here can say me whatever they want, but I have maintained my calm until now. I have endured everything said about me so far...)

Seervizhi gulped and gripped his arm with her other hand, feeling his hand tremble slightly.

"Aanaal ingirukkum yevarukkum en manaiviyai, en Seervizhi'ai paarthu kelvi ketka kooda anumadhi illai. Thagudhiyum illai"

(But no one here has the right to question my wife, my Seervizhi. They don't have that worth too)

He roared at last.

"Aiyane"

She whispered trying to calm him.

"Ondru koorugiren nandraaga anaivar manadhilum yetri kollungal. Aval vaditha ovvaru thuli kanneerirkum, anaivarum badhil koori dhaan aaga vendum. Avalai patri therindhavargal oruvar kooda avalukkaaga munvara villai. Illayaa?"

(I am saying this once. Everyone should listen carefully. For every tear she sheds, everyone must answer. No one who truly knows her can say she deserves this. But no one came forward for her? Isn't it?)

He scanned the room, including his brothers and sister, who were all looking down at the floor.

"Anushman."

He turned at the sound of his Grandma's voice.

Anushman looked at her.

"Vaarungal paati. Paarungal. Paarungal thangaladhu maganin aranmanai'ai. Naan tharpodhu enna seiya vendum enbadhai thaangale koorungal. Naan enna seiya vendum? Ennaval izhandha avalin mariyaadhai'yinai naan eppadi meeteduppadhu?"

(Come here, Grandma. Look. This is your son's home. Tell me what I should do to endure this. What can I do? How can I restore the dignity of my wife?)

His voice wavered as he recalled her sobs and pleas, feeling more exhausted thinking about how she had begged to be left alone.

Because of them, she was even willing to leave him, and to leave their love.

He gripped her hand firmly and felt her gaze upon him.

When Grandma remained silent,

"Ohh. Thangalukkum yevvaaru endru theriyavillai illayaa? Aanaal naan ariven."

(Oh, don't you know the solution? But I know.)

He paused, looked around at everyone, and said,

"Naanum, enadhu manaiviyum ippozhudhey indha naatinai thurakkirom."

(I, along with my wife, am leaving this country now.)

Everyone gasped, including Seervizhi.

Yezhisai was equally taken aback.

"Thangal yevarin paasamum vendaam, indha ariyanaiyum vendaam. Thaangale vaithu kollungal thangaladhu naatinai."

(I don't want any of your love or this country's throne. Keep it to yourselves.)

He roared, to make them realize their mistakes, hardening his heart for speaking against his father's country.

But, when he gripped Seervizhi's hand to lead her to their chamber,

"Ilavarasae naan sirudhu pesa yennugiren."

(Prince, I like to say something)

Seervizhi spoke up.

Anushman looked at her, and she gulped at the sight of his red eyes, filled with both anger and guilt.

Seervizhi averted her gaze to Yezhisai.

"Naan pirandhu vazhandha naatin arasar, uyirvanbam, enadhu thandhaiyirku padhinmoondru manaivigal aththai."

(I was born and raised in the land king, Uyirvanban, my father. He had thirteen wives.)

Yezhisai turned her gaze away from her, but Seervizhi continued to look at her.

"Aanaal oruvaraiyum avar netru ennai thaangal pesiyadhu pola pesavum illai, nadandhu kollavum illai."

(But no one spoke to me like you did yesterday, nor did they act in that manner.)

Yezhisai glanced at her and raised her brows, her ego pricked by Seervizhi's comments.

Eezhamadhi gulped nervously.

"Ennavar kooriyadhai poruthu ondru nandraaga therindhu konden aththai. Avarulle enakku theriyaadha periya ragasiyangal iruppadhai arindhu konden."

(I understood the words of what my husband said perfectly. I realized the significant secrets he has that no one else knew.)

Anushman looked at her, and she met his gaze.

"Naan ingu dhaan iruppen, enadhu naadu idhu, enadhu makkal ivargal, matrum enadhu kanavar ivar. Naatu makkal, matrum arasavai'il varum anaithu pali kootraiyum yetru, adharku thagundhavaaru naan mootha ilavarasi'aaga en kadamaiyinai seiven."

(I will stay here. This is my country, these are my people, and he is my husband. For all the accusations and injustices that come from the people and the kingdom, I will fulfill my duty as a rightful elder princess.)

Anushman stared at her as she spoke, looking directly into his eyes. Her confidence and comfort grew as he held her gaze, and when he blinked after a long moment, she turned toward Yezhisai and said,

"Matrum naan vesi pennum alla, thaangal enakku aththai'uhm alla."

(And I am not a woman who is insolent; you will not be my aunt from now on.)

Everyone gasped, but Yezhisai glared at her, her ego further inflamed by Seervizhi's words.

"Thaangal enakku munnaal arasi mattum dhaan. Veredhuvum alla. Naan thangalidam ini thevai atra vishyangal patri pesavum maaten, adhu pola thaangalum ennudan pesa koodaadhu."

(You are just a former queen to me. Nothing more. I will no longer discuss matters with you, nor should you speak to me.)

She said this with the defiant tone of a child.

"Seervizhi"

Eezhamadhi tried to stop her.

"Enadhu suya mariyaadhaiyinai patriyum, yaar ennudan pesa vendum, pesa koodaadhu enbadhai patriyum mudivedukka enakku mulu urimayum ulladhu endru naan ninaikiren?"

(Do I not have the right to decide my own respect and whom I should or shouldn't speak to?)

She asked Eezhamadhi who got silent abruptly.

"Naan ondrum ingu ennai sutri nadappavai patri ariyaamal illai. En vayadhirukum, thangal anaivarin vayadhirkum madhippu koduthu dhaan amaidhiyaaga irundhen. Aanaal yeppodhu en aiyanukkum ennai poal ingu mariyaadhai illai endru enakku therindhadho, appozhudhey thaangal anaivarum enakku verum enmun nirkum oru uyirinam mattum dhaan."

(I'm not someone who doesn't understand what happens around me. I showed respect for everyone's age, including mine, and maintained calm. However, when I realized that even my husband treated with no respect here, then all of you are nothing more than a fleeting existence to me.)

She finally gave a long stare to Yezhisai and the guard woman who had hidden behind one of the other guards.

"Yeppadi pesugiraal endru paarungal aththai."

(See how she speaks, Aunt.)

Yezhisai said to Oorvashi.

Oorvashi glared at her.

"Nee kooriyadhai vida kuraivaaga dhaan pesuguraal Yezhisaiyarasi. Netru vandha pudhiya ilavarasiyai appadi patta mana'paanmuyadan pesinaai, aanaal petra pillaiyai avvaaru pesa eppadi umakku manam vandhadhu?"

(She is not speaking more than you spoke last night, Yezhisaiyarasi. Yesterday, you spoke to the new princess with such attitude, but how can you have the heart to speak to your own son like that?)

She asked her. Yezhisai looked at Avanindhan and then at Seervizhi with a glare.

"Podhum. Otrumai illaadha aranamanai'il Arasavai kootam ondru dhaan kurai. Arasavai kalayattum, idhu Rajamatha'vin utharavu."

(Enough. Like, the only flaw in this kingdom of injustice is the royal court. Everyone disperse; this is the order of your Rajmatha.)

Everyone dispersed except the brothers, sister, and the couple.

"Anni"

(Sister-in-law)

Anbazhagi came forward, but Seervizhi grabbed Anushman's wrist and dragged him into their chamber.

The brothers and sister exchanged glances and fell into deep guilt.

"Nee ninaithadhu nadandhu vittadhu polum?"

(Did what you thought actually happen?)

Sennila looked at Adhivishman and raised her brows.

"Anni dhairiyamaaga pesa vendum endru dhaane ninaithaai?"

(Didn't you think my sister-in-law should speak with courage?)

He asked her. She stared at him.

"Nadandhu vittadhaa?"

(Did it really happen?)

Sennila twisted her lips and walked away without a word.

Adhivishman rolled his eyes at her and joined his brothers.

Inside the chamber,

"Vizhi"

She wriggled from his hold.

"Seervizhi"

He stood in front of her, but she turned to the other side, crossing her arms below her chest.

He smiled, hugged her from behind, and tightened his hold as she wriggled. He kissed her bare shoulder by gently sliding away the veil that flowing from her head. Her lips curved into a smile.

"Yen ivvalavu sinam kondaai?"

(Why were you so angry?)

He asked her softly.

"Avargal thangalai enna seidhanar? Yen ennidam avaiyellaam koora villai?"

(What did they do to you? Why is none of it explained to me?)

She asked him back.

"Yen koora vendum?"

(Why should it be explained?)

She tilted her head and looked up at him as he stood straight from her shoulder. He looked down at her, gripping her palms over her waist with his.

"Yen koora vendum endraal? Adhanai therindhu kolla enakku urimai illayaa?"

(Why should it be explained? Do I not have the right to know it?)

She asked with raised brows.

He shook his head, and her face fell sad.

"Marakka vendum endru ninaikum nigalvugal Vizhi avai. Enakku unnidam adhanai koora vendaam ena thondriyadhu."

(Those are the memories that I wish to forget, Vizhi. I don't feel the need to explain it to you.)

She turned to face forward, standing silently while leaning against his chest. He stood there, staring at the wall in front of them and caressing her palm with his fingers.

"Aiyane"

(Husband)

She broke the silence.

"Mm"

He just hummed, savoring the moment of having her in his arms.

"Naan thangalidam ondru vinavalaamaa?"

(Can I ask you something?)

She asked, turning to her left and slowly releasing his hold around her to hug him, placing her cheek on his chest, over his sunstroke chain.

"Mm"

He tightened his hold and hugged her close to him.

"Thaangal arasar mahudam sooti kolgireergalaa?"

(Will you take the throne?)

He narrowed his brows, lifted her face, holding her chin, and she looked at him.

"Vendaam endru koorinaai?"

(Didn't you say you don't want it?)

He asked, remembering she had mentioned giving the throne to Avanindhan.

"Ippozhudhu vendum"

(But now I want it)

She said, looking into his eyes.

"Yen?"

(Why?)

He questioned.

She shook her head.

"Enakku theriyaadhu. Aanaal arasar aagungal. Thangalai naan arasar kolathil kaana virumbugiren"

(I don't know. But I want you to be the king. I wish to see you as the king.)

He gulped and released his hold on her.

She frowned, standing in front of him.

"Deva"

She grabbed his palm.

"Illai Seervizhi vendaam"

(No, Seervizhi, not now)

He wriggled from her hold.

"Yen?"

(Why?)

He turned his back towards her and shook his head, gulping.

"Vendaam, Seervizhi"

(I don't want to, Seervizhi)

He repeated.

"Adhaan yen endru vinavugiren"

(And I'm curious about why is that.)

She asked again.

He inhaled deeply, closing his eyes as his father's words on his deathbed echoed in his ears. But, he jerked when she placed her palm on his shoulder and turned him towards her.

"Thangalin paati kooriyadhai patri sindhikireerhalaa?"

(Are you thinking about what your grandmother said?)

She hinted at Oorvashi's words about having a child.

He stared into her eyes.

"Adhanai patri sindhikaadheergal Deva. Naan adharku thayaaraaga dhaan irukkiren"

(Don't think about that, Deva. I'm ready for that.)

He took a step back from her. She looked at him, blinking, not understanding his sudden change in behavior.

"Illai Vizhi. Naan adhanai patri ninaithu kooda paarka villai"

(No, Vizhi. I can't even think about that.)

He said. She frowned even more.

"Pin ennavendru koorungal"

(Then tell me why)

She insisted.

He took a deep breath, looked into her eyes, grabbed both of her palms, and moved closer to her before asking,

"Naan unnai evvaaru vivaagam purindhu konden endru unakku theriyum allavaa?"

(Don't you know how I ended up marrying you?)

He asked.

"Aam. En annan Ilamadhiyanai por'kalathil veelthi ennai adaindheergal"

(Yes, by killing my brother Ilamadhiyan on the battlefield.)

He smiled.

"Mm. Unakku adhil enmel kovam illayaa?"

(Hmm. Are you not angry with me about that?)

She shook her head.

"Illai."

(No.)

"Yen?"

(Why?)

"Enakku andha Ilamadhiyanai pidikaadhu. Maelum enadhu thandhai, matrum thamayan kooda thaangal poril vetri petru ennai thaangal angirundhu innaatirku alaithu sella vendum endru dhaan ninaithaargal."

(I do not like Ilamadhiyan. Moreover, my father and brother thought that he should be defeated by you and driven out for victory, and that I should be the one to marry you.)

She said with a smile, shrugging her shoulders but furrowed her brows when he shifted his expression to a serious one.

"Yen avvaaru ninaithaargal endru theriyumaa unakku?"

(Do you know why they thought that?)

She shook her head slowly.

"Un thandhaiyin uyirkaaga."

(For your father's life.)

She gasped a little.

"Thandhaiyin uyiraa?"

(For my father's life?)

"Aam. Appadi'thaan enakkum, en thandhaiyarukkum seidhi vandhadhu."

(Yes. That's how it was; news came to me and my father.)

He explained.

"Puriyavillai, ilavarasae."

(I don't understand, prince.)

He gripped her palms as her voice quivered slightly.

"Enadhu appa, umadhu naatudan poridumbodhu, umadhu thandhaiyin moondraavadhu manaivi Sorpozhi'in Magan, Ilamadhiyan avarai pinnaal irundhu kuthi konnaan."

(My father, when he was fighting with your country, was killed by Ilamadhiyan, the son of your father's third wife, Sorpozhi on his back)

He explained as she listened silently.

"Ohh."

"Poril veeranukku enna mariyaadhai? Nerukku ner kollapaduvadhu. Aanaal andha Ilamadhiyan, emadhu appa vai pinnaal irundhu kondraan. Adhanaal enadhu appa ennidam avaradhu kadaisi viruppam aaga ondru kettukondaar."

(What is the beauty of a warrior in war? Killing the one face-to-face. However, Ilamadhiyan killed my father from behind. Because of that, my father has asked me something as his last wish)

She gulped and asked,

"Enna?"

(What?)

"Emadhu thandhai'ai indha naadu izhandhaal, in'naadu arasar endru oruvar illaamal alindhu poi vidum endru ninaithu umadhu naadu sadhi seidhulladhu Seervizhi."

(If this country lost its king, your country thought that this kingdom would be abandoned without a ruler and would be ruined as well, Seervizhi.)

She stared at him with widened eyes and wriggled from his hold on her hands.

But still he continued.

"Adhanaal appa ennidam avaradhu tholviyai oppukolla marukka solli umadhu naatidam koorumbadi kettaar."

(Thus, my father has asked me to tell your country that this victory of yours was not accepted by me.)

He looked at her throat as she gulped and then averted his gaze to her eyes.

"Naan yen endru kettadharku avar, indha Poorviga naatin arasarai vendraal dhaan indha tholviyai oppukozhvadhaaga kooru, matrum andha naatin ilaya ilavarasi'ai manam mudithu avalai nam naatirku alaithu vaa endru koorinaar."

(I asked why, and he said that if we wanted this betrayal of our country to be accepted, it would only be when I defeat the king of that country, and the young princess of that land must marry me.)

He took a step forward, and she stepped back, panting.

"Adhil oru kadamai mudindhu vittadhu Seervizhi"

(Thus, one of my duties has been fulfilled, Seervizhi.)

"Ilavarasae"

(Prince.)

Her voice trembled; she didn't expect this from him.

Did he marry her just because of his father's words?

"Naan umadhu thandhaiyaiyum pali theerthaal dhaan. Enadhu thandhaiyin uyir shanthi adaiyum."

(When I kill your father, only then will I bring peace to my father's soul)

She gulped, and her eyes misted as her back hit the wall.

He stood in front of her.

"Ivai anaithum naan ariyanai yaerum mun nadakka vendum. Adhanaal dhaan neeye naan ariyanai yaera vendaam endru koorumbozhudhu sandhoshamaaga irundhen. Aanaal tharpodhu nee ennai ariyanai yaera vendum endru ennidam ketkiraai, naan enna seivadhu?"

(I must handle all these matters before taking the throne. That's why I was happy when you said you didn't want me to take it. But now, if you ask me to take the throne, what should I do?)

He asked her with confusion in his eyes.

She gulped.

"Ap..appo thangalin tha..thandhai kooriyadhaal dhaan thaangal ennai manam muditheeraa?"

(So... is it because of what your father said that you married me?)

He looked into her eyes and placed his palms beside her face.

"Aam."

(Yes.)

Her breath hitched.

"Enakkaaga, nam kadhalukkaaga illayaa SSooriyadeva?"

(Is this not for me or for our love, but just for the sake of your duty, Sooriyadeva?))

He gulped, seeing her tears flow down on her cheeks, and slowly shook his head.

"Kadhalukkaagavum dhaan Seervizhi. Aanaal adhu oru mana poraatam. Aanaalum idhu.. vidhiyin poraatamaagum. Naan umadhu thandhaiyai kondru dhaan aaga vendum. Idhuve enadhu vidhi. Enakku koora patta paniyinai naan seidhu mudithu dhaan aaga vendum Vizhi."

(It is indeed for our love, Seervizhi, but that is a struggle of the heart. However, this is a struggle with fate. I must fulfill my father's wish. This is my destiny. I must complete the task assigned to me, Vizhi

She gulped, and her nose turned red.

"Enadhu appa avvaaru seidhirukka maataar ilavarasae."

(My father won't be able to do this, prince.)

She cried finally. He cupped the side of her neck.

"Seidhullaar Seervizhi. Indha naadu arasar indri irukkiradhendraal adhu unadhu thandhai seidha sadhi."

(He has done it, Seervizhi. If the kingdom is without a king, it is due to what your father has done.)

She shook her head hurriedly.

"Illai."

(No.)

"Aamaam, Seervizhi."

(Yes, Seervizhi.)

"Illai ilavarasae. Appa appadi seidhirikka maataar. Naan udane sendru ketkiren avaridam. Avar avvaaru seidhirukka maataar"

(No, prince. Father cannot do that. I will go and ask him immediately. He will not be able to do something like that)

She tried to push him and run outside their chamber but stopped, placing her palm on her nape where her veil was pinned, and turned towards him and looked at his hold on her veil's edge.

"Engu selgiraai Seervizhi?"

(Where are you going, Seervizhi?)

He asked.

"Aiyane. Naan thagalin kadhal manaivi endru kooriyadhellaam? Anaithum poi aah?"

(Husband, is everything you said about me being your lovable wife just a lie?)

She asked, her words trembling. He closed his eyes, inhaled deeply, and pulled her toward him. She leaned against him, her palms on his chest, and he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Naan kooruvadhai mulumaiyaaga kel'adi konjam."

(Please listen to what I have to say carefully first.)

He said calmly, looking into her tear-filled eyes.

"Illai. Thaangal enadhu thandhaiyai kolla naan anumadhikka maaten. Vendaam. Vittu vidungal. En appa appadi seidhirikka maataar. Naan, sendru kaettu varugiren. Avar avvaaru seiya maataar. Avar.."

(No. I cannot approve of you harming my father. Please, leave him. My father will not do such things. I will go and find out. He will not act like that. He...)

She stopped as he softly kissed her cheek and nuzzled into her neck while she tried to push him away in her unknown fear.

"Enakku theriyum'amma. Avar avvaaru seidhirikka maataar. Avar namadhu aranmanai vandhu nammidam nadandhu konda vidhathinai vaithey naan adhanai purindhu konden. Aanaal yaar seidha sadhi enbadhai naam ivvaaru irundhu dhaan therindhu kolla vendum."

(I know, my dear. He will not do such things. He came to our palace and stayed here, and I understood the nature of him. But we need to understand who is behind this.)

She scrunched his shirt with her palms and her lips lightly brushed against the area below his ear.

"Yev...yevvaaru?"

(Ho..how?)

She asked between her heavy breaths.

"Naan unadhu thandhaiyai kollvadharku'thaan unnai manam mudithen endru anaivarayum naam namba vaika vendum."

(I married you because I am determined to kill your father, and we should make everyone believe that.)

"Aanaal yen"

(But why?)

He traced her bare waist curve with his palm, and she stood on her toes, her eyes half-closed in response to the pleasure he was giving her.

"Appozhudhu dhaan unmai kuttravaali pidipaduvaar."

(At that time, the real culprit will be caught.)

"Yeppadi?"

(How?)

He gripped her waist, and she moaned.

"Devaaa"

"Mm"

She squirmed, clutching her thighs and curling her toes.

"Unmai kuttravaali ku ivaaru enadhu thandhaiyai kolvadhum, innaadu arasar illaama irukka ninaipadhum mattume mukkiya yennamaaga irukka mudiyaadhu Vizhi. Irandu naadugalum modhikondu alivadhu dhaan avanin mukkiya kurikolaaga irundhirukka vendum. Adhanaal dhaan koorugiren, naan unadhu thandhaiyai dhaan kuri vaithullen endru therindhaal andha kuttravaali enna seivaan?"

(To the real culprit, there can be no chance of his primary motive being to kill my father or to leave this country without a king, Vizhi. His only intention or desire is to destroy both our countries by inciting conflict between us. Hence, I say this; if that culprit realizes that your father is my target, what will he do?)

She placed her palms on his chest, pushing him away as his hand moved above her blouse, turning away from him, panting with her cheeks and body flushed in red.

"Vizhi"

He grabbed her palms from behind, intertwined their fingers, and rested his chin on her shoulder.

"Unakku purindhadhaa endru theriyavillai. Aanaal, en Vizhiyin vizhigalil irundhu kanneer vara vaikum yendha oru kaariyamum naan seiya maaten. Naan unnai verum kaaranthirkaaga'thaan manam mudithiruppen endru nee eppadi Vizhi ninaithaai? En kaadhal manaivi yeppodhum nee mattum dhaan enakku.."

(You might not understand, but I will never do anything that would bring tears to your eyes. How could you think that I am determined to marry you only for my duty? My love for you means you are everything to me.)

She closed her eyes, and he nuzzled into her neck from behind, removing her veil and letting it fall to the floor. She took a deep breath, and he hugged her from behind, holding her hands.

"Andha kuttravaaliyai pidikka veraedhum vali illayaa?"

(Doesn't that culprit have any other means to be caught?)

She asked after a moment of silence.

"Irukkiradhu."

(There are..)

He ran the tip of his nose from her shoulder, neck, and up to her ear.

"Enna?"

(What?)

She asked, gripping his arms around her.

"Innaatirku oru arasar vara vendum. Appodhu andha kutravaali avanaagave vandhu sikkuvaan nammidam. Indha naadu aliya vendum, innaatu arasar aliya vendum ena ninaipaan. Appodhu avanai naam kaiyum kalavumaaga pidithu vidalaam endru naan nambukiren."

(We need a king for this country. At that time, the culprit will come and reveal himself, as he wishes to see this country and the king destroyed. I believe that we can catch him then.)

He explained to her.

"Pin thaangale ariyanai yerungal, appodhu naam kutravaaliyai pidithu vidalaam allavaa?"

((Then, why can't you take the throne by yourself, and catch the real culprit?)

He nuzzled into her neck and traced the hem of her skirt with his fingers. She flinched and clutched his palm over her tummy.

"Paati kooriyadhai marandhu vittaaiyaa, Vizhi?"

(Have you forgotten what grandmother said, Vizhi?)

She shut her eyes and remained silent.

He traced his other palm to her upper chest, and she curled her shoulders in anticipation as his small finger brushed above her cleavage. And he cupped her neck, tilting her face toward him.

She looked at him with her lips parted in pleasure.

"Pillai petru kollalaamaa?"

(Can we have a child of our own?)

He asked her.

She blinked and saw him with various emotions.

"Pillai petraal eppadi arasar kidaikum?"

(How will the country attain a king if we have a child?)

She asked back.

"Aachariyar koorinaal yedhu vendum aanaalum nadakkum. Enadhu amma dhavam seiya sendrabodhu avar engu sendrikiraar, yedharku sendrirukiraar ena anaithum avar dhaan en thandhaiku koorinaar avar kooriyadhu pola dhaan anaithum nadandhadhu, aanaal Seervizhi.."

(If the Aachariyar says something, it will happen. When my mother set out to perform penance, he made sure my father knew wherever she went, whatever she did, and everything was in accordance with what was prescribed. But Seervizhi...)

He cupped her cheeks, his gaze filled with intensity and care.

"Naan indha naadu arasarai peruvadharkaaga mattum kooravillai. Naan unnudan vaazha virumbukiren. Adhanaal.."

(I am not only focused on making this country a kingdom. I wish to live with you, so...)

He stopped when she spoke in between,

"Enadhu thandhai?"

(What about my father?)

She asked.

"Naan koori vitten Seervizhi. Umadhu thandhaiyai naan ondrum seiya maaten. Aanaal, namadhu yennangalaiyum poi aaki oru velai avare andha sadhiyinai purindhaar endru enakku therindhaal. Appozhudhu ennai nee thadukka koodaadhu"

(I have made my intentions clear, Seervizhi. I will not do anything to your father. However, if I understand that he has managed to deceive us by disguising himself, you should not try to stop me then.)

She placed her palms on his chest, gently pushed him away, picked up her veil from the floor, draped it over her chest, and moved into the restroom, not before hearing him say,

"Kokkokam pusthagam vaangi vaithullen. Indru mulu iravum umakku vaguppulladhu thayaraaga iru"

(I have bought a kokkokam book for you. Be ready for your class for the whole night.)

She closed the door, and he left the chamber towards his Grandma's room.

"Vaa Anushman"

(Come, Anushman)

She welcomed him with a smile, but he sat on the bed beside her feet, placed them on his lap, and spoke while pressing her legs.

"Naan pali vaangum ennathodu dhaan Poorviga naatin Ilavarasiyinai manam purindhen paati. Aanaal yeppozhudhu Seervizhi'ai kandeno, avaladhu appa en meedhum, nam naatin meedhum avvalavu mariyaadhaiyudan nadandhu kolvadhai kandeno, appozhudhey theriyum yedho ondru namakku theriyaadhadhu nadandhirukiradhu endru"

(I have married the Poorviga country's princess just to take a revenge, grandma. But when I saw Seervizhi and understand how her father behaves with me and us respectfully. It is clear that something unknown to us had happened.)

Oorvashi stared at him silently, waiting for him to continue, and he finally said,

"Paati Seervizhi 'in thandhai avvaaru seidhirukka maataar"

(Grandmother, Seervizhi's father couldn't have done that.)

He looked at her finally.

Oorvashi had anticipated this from her grandchild.

She thought that her grandchild, Anushman had changed his mindset due to his unconditional love for the Poorviga country's princess, Seervizhi.

"Vaeru vali namakku illai Anushman"

(There is no other way for us, Anushman.)

"Ennaal avarai kolla mudiyaadhu paati. Enna seivadhendru theriyavillai enakku"

(But I cannot kill him, Grandma. I don't know what to do now.)

He lowered his gaze again.

"Kondrudhaan aaga vendum Anushman. Idhu un thandhaiyin.."

(You must kill him, Anushman. This is your father's...)

He stopped her and smirked.

"Illai paati, naan idhil konjam vilaiyaada pogiren. Yevan en thandhaiyai kondravan endrum, nam naatirku sadhi purindhavan endrum, therindhukonda pinbu dhaan naan Seervizhi 'in thandhaiyai kolvadhai patri sindhippen"

(No, Grandma, I am just going to perform some tricks with this. After knowing that someone who killed my father is a true enemy of our country, only then will I think about how to deal with Seervizhi's father.)

He told her his decision.

But,

"Un thandhaiyin kootru Anushman adhu. Adhanai nee evvaaru purakanippaai?"

(That is your father's words, Anushman. How will you neglect it?)

She asked with slight anger.

"Paati"

(Grandma)

He grabbed her palms in a comforting manner and told her calmly,

"Oru vishyam seivadharku mun sindhithu, adhanai nangu aaraaindhu seiya vendum enbadhum enadhu thandhaiyin kootru dhaan paati"

(One must think carefully before doing something and it must be planned thoroughly. This is also a words of my father, Grandma.)

Oorvashi smiled at him.

He smiled back and left back toward his chamber but stopped when he saw his brothers and Anbazhagi standing in front of him with their gazes lowered to his feet.

He stood there, staring at them.
