Adhyayam padhinmoondru
Thaai aagum muyarchi?
(Trying to be a mother?)
✷●
The silent-filled green field has turned into a magical place of hearty laughter and brainy questions of his little one.
"I'mmalarai naan indru varai yengum kandadhillai, Devaa."
(I haven't seen this flower anywhere, Devaa.)
She exclaimed, looking at the aster flower, which was purple in colour and had a starburst arrangement of bright petals, which most often surround a yellow centre.
He smiled, standing behind her.
"Idhanai Aastar endru alaipaaragal"
(They will call it 'Aster')
He taught her the name of the flower.
She smiled and blinked, seeing the flower, before turning to look at him with an innocent face and asking,
"Aastar.. naan thottu paarkavaa?"
(Aster. Shall I touch it?)
"Aanai piraipikka vendumaa?"
(Should I make a decree?)
He placed his palm near his waist belt, like he's holding a sword's handle, in a dramatic way.
She giggled at his raised eyebrows and leaned down to touch the petals' ends with her little finger tips.
"Oodhaa nirathil azhagaaga irukkiradhu allavaa ilavarasae?"
(Isn't it beautiful in this purple colour, prince?)
She exclaimed again in a loud voice. He gave her a smile but whispered,
"Vizhi, naam veliyae irukkirom."
(We are outdoors, Vizhi)
He reminded her softly.
She clicked her tongue and hit her forehead.
"Mannithu vidungal. Marandhu vitten Devaa"
(Sorry, I forgot it, Deva)
She stood up straight. He shook his head, saying,
"Mannippellaam vendaam.. vaa naam selvom."
(No need to apologise. Come, let's walk)
She hummed and followed him behind. But he pulled her to his front and made her walk in front of him.
She, too, excitedly roamed around their dynasty's villages, hopping on the roads without any fear for the first time in her nineteen years of life.
"Nilaa velicham'eh illaye indru?"
(Why is there no moonlight today?)
She started asking her questions as it felt more silent for her, even though the breeze kept them cool and dreamy.
"Mazhai varum endru ninaikiren"
(I think it's going to rain.)
He replied, seeing the dark, cloudy sky without any stars or moon, and looked back at her, who stopped her hopping abruptly, hearing his reply.
"Mazhai aah? appozhudhu naam udane aranmanai ku sendru viduvom vaarungal."
(Rain? Then let's quickly head back to the palace)
She turned herself to the opposite side to get back to their palace. But he pulled her, holding her elbow.
"Vzihi. Yen Mazhai umakku pudikaadhaa?"
(Vizhi, don't you like rain?)
He asked her, expecting a wide smile on her face. As he expected, there came her dimple smile, and it got matched into his dimple, which peeked out from his cheek to meet his mate.
"Migavum pudikkum.. aanaal naan mazhai'il nanaindhaal en thaayaar en meedhu sinam kolvaar."
(I like it very much, but if I get wet in the rain, my mother will be angry with me)
She declared it at the end with a sad face. He held her chin and lifted her face to make her look at him.
"Um thaayaar ippozhudhu ingu irukkiraaraa?"
(Is your mother here now?)
He asked. She looked around and shrugged her shoulders, blinking her eyes at him. He smiled at her cute antics.
"Pin yaar, ingu ummai thadukka pogiraar?"
(Then? Who here would scold you?)
He put up a question to make her think.
She grinned widely at him.
"Thaangal yedhum koora maateeraa?"
(You won't scold me?)
She asked excitedly. He chuckled and shook his head.
"Naan mazhai'il nanaindhaal thaangal ennai thadukka maateeraa?"
(If I get wet in the rain, you will not scold me.)
She asked the next question with hopeful eyes.
"Maaten"
(I won't)
He declared, granting a hope, she expect.
"Nijam aagavaa?"
(Really?)
She pointed her index finger towards him, raising her voice a little in excitement.
"Aam"
(Yes)
He said it, chuckling.
"Evvalu neram vendum aanaalumaa?"
(No matter how long I take)
He squinted his eyes for a brilliant question from his wife and then shook his head, making her face feel sad.
"Mmm, adhu mattum mudiyaadhu. Siridhu neram mattume anumadhippen."
(Humm. No, it's only for a short while,)
She pouted as he poked on her nose with his index finger.
"Yen appadi?"
(But why like that?)
Whining at him, she shifted in her place.
"En Vizhi ku udal sorvu aagi vidume?"
(My Vizhi will catch a cold, right?)
Hearing his sweet voice, she timidly lowered her gaze before asking,
"Ungal Vizhi kaa?"
(Your Vizhi?)
He leaned in, answering with a breeze of his hot breath,
"Aam"
(Yes)
He cupped her cheek. She trembled at the effect and fisted her palms, which were getting wet, in astonishment.
"Enadhu Vizhi"
(My Vizhi)
He said this, looking straight into her eyes.
She blushed, lowering her head. But he grabbed her chin and made her look at him. Her eyes blinked in nervousness, and her throat bobbed up and down as she gulped the lump there. He smiled, leaned down, and pecked her forehead.
She closed her eyes with a smile, and her shoulders moved up in an unknown desire.
He then kissed her cheeks, right below her closed eyes. Her lips parted. He moved back and looked at her, who was melting just like that with his small peppery pecks over her facial skin.
He smiled, but the water droplet from nowhere in the dark sky fell rightly on her lower lip. She jerked and opened her eyes, only to get drowned in his brown orbs. His thumb got stretched over her lip and wiped off the droplet. She smiled, closed her eyes, took her steps back, turned front, and started running away from him.
"Vizhi nill"
(Vizhi stop)
He chuckled and ran behind her. She giggled and ran in the air as her saree skirt and hair waved in the air, and her anklet made a rhythm to the silence against the cold breeze.
They finally settled in the woods behind their palace.
Since they were in their own nest and had gotten accepted to this alone time away from all conflicts and worries, they didn't mind when the rain began to drizzle and slowly immerse them.
"Deva'ne"
He looked at her and she continued,
"Naan thangalidam ondru vinavalaamaa?"
(Can I ask you something?)
"Nichiyamaaga"
(Of course you can.)
He demanded it with an assuring smile. She fidgeted with her saree.
"Adhu.. Anilamudhan avanin yendha agavaiyil irundhu than kan paarvaiyai ilandhaar?"
(From which age did Anilamudhan lose his sight?)
She asked, looking at him.
"Avanadhu pirappil irundhu dhaan, Vizhi"
(Since his birth, he has lost his vision)
"Pirappil irundhaa?"
(Since birth?)
"Aam"
(Yes)
She hummed and stared at the tattoo on the back side of his wrist, where it was written "Ilandevi".
He, who frowned on not hearing any of the questions from her even after a few minutes of silence, turned to look at her and noticed her gaze towards his tattoo.
He smiled and whispered,
"Ilandevi"
She averted her gaze to his eyes.
"Haan?"
"Enadhu amma'vin peyar"
(My mother's name)
Her lips curled, and she hummed before asking,
"Thangaladhu thaayaar yengu, devane?"
(Where's your mother, husband?)
His smile dropped, and he replied,
"Ingillai"
(She is not here)
Her eyes narrowed in confusion.
"Pinnar yengu sendraar? Thangal thandhaiyin veetil irukkiraaraa?"
(Where did she go, then? Is she at your father's place?)
He chuckled and shook his head, not meeting her eyes.
"Iruvarum illai"
(Neither of them are here)
"Ivvooril illayaa?"
(Are they not in this country?)
She asked to confirm her doubt.
"Ip'prebajanthilaye illai"
(They are not even in this universe anymore)
His voice went low and she looked at him, dazed.
"Irandhu vittanaraa?"
(Have they passed away?)
He nodded his head, turning his teary eyes away from her.
"Yeppodhu? Eppadi?"
(When? How?)
He looked at the ground and said,
"Amma Adhivishman'ai petreduthadhum irandhaar, appa poril irandhaar"
(Mother died after giving birth to Adhivishman; father died in the war)
He shared about the darkest day of his life with her.
"Ohh"
After a few minutes of silence, he composed himself and smiled, looking at her, who was swinging her legs to and fro and pressing her palms on the woods with herself being straightened up.
"En thandhai ku seidhu kodutha sathiyathinaal dhaan nee enakku kidaidhaai"
(I got you due to the promise made to my father)
She looked at him swiftly and then smiled wide.
"Appadiyaa?"
(Really?)
He hummed.
"Thaayaar Adhivishman'ai petreduthadhum yen irandhaar?"
(Why did your mother die after giving birth to Adhivishman?)
She asked softly. He exhaled his breath deeply with a smile and replied,
"Theriyavillaye, avargalidam dhaan ketka vendum. Thanadhu aindhu pudhalvangalayum thaniye thavikka vittu yen sendraargal endru"
(I don't know; you have to ask her, why did she leave her five children to suffer like this alone?)
He then stared at the sky. Seervizhi saw his eye direction and frowned.
"Angu enna paarkireergal?"
(What are you looking at?)
She asked
"Amma"
(Mother)
He replied without averting his gaze from the sky. She looked at his side face, asking,
"Amma?"
(Mother?)
"Mm"
He hummed.
"En aththai angu therigiraaraa?"
(Can you see my aunt there?)
He shook his head.
"Pinnar yen angu paarkireergal?"
(Then why are you looking there?)
"Yedhenum oru naal therindhu vida maataargalaa endra yaekkam."
(Wondering, if one day she will come to show her face to me)
Seervizhi gulped, seeing the corner of his eyes turn moist.
"Sooriyadeva"
"Mm"
"Deva, ennai kaanungal."
(Deva, look at me)
He looked at her.
"Azhugireergalaa thaangal?"
(Are you crying?)
He smiled and shook his head.
"Kannil yedhenum vilundhu vittadhaa?"
(Did something fall into your eye?)
She stood up and moved in front of him. But she gasped when he yanked her closer to him and buried his face in her chest, sobbing silently.
Meanwhile, without understanding yearnings, she widened her eyes and blushed unknowingly at his mere hug. She slowly hugged him back and caressed his hair like she used to caress for the little babies, calves, and rabbits.
After a few minutes of silent sobs,
"Devane"
She called him, to hear his hum.
"Urangi vitteergalo ena ninaithen. Yen'endraal naan enadhu mahizhan'ai ivvaaru dhaan uranga vaipen. Avan irandu nimidathil nandraaga urangi viduvaan theriyumaa?"
(I thought you had fallen asleep. Because I would put my Mahizhan to sleep this way. Do you know what? He would sleep well within two minutes.)
She exclaimed it seriously while Anushman chuckled and pulled back from the hug.
"Yaar Avan? Unadhu ilaya sagodharan aah?"
(Who is he, your little brother?)
He queried.
"Illai illai enakku orey oru thamayan mattum dhaan. Naan kooriya Mahizhan, Avan oru muyal."
(No, no, I have only one elder brother. The one I mentioned is my pet rabbit)
His eyebrows raised in amusement.
"Muyal aah?"
(Rabbit?)
She grinned.
"Aam, vellai matrum Karuppu nirathai udaiyavan. Migavum azhagaaga iruppaan. Avanai kaanave enadhu thozhigal anaivarum andha purathilaye thangi viduvaargal."
(Yes, white and black colored. He would be very beautiful. When my friends see him, they all stay around him, almost in the harem)
She replied with a giggle. He snickered.
"Adhu seri. Andha sivaperumaanai kaana kooda un thozhigal ivvalavu aarvam kaati irukka maataargal polum."
(That’s okay. To see the beautiful lod Shiva, your friends would not show so much desire, I think)
He mocked and then smiled. She giggled again, closing her mouth with her palm, but stopped seeing his eyes as red. Her brows were knitted.
"Thangalin kangal yen sivandhu ulladhu?"
(Why are your eyes red?)
Anushman averted his gaze quickly and blinked his eyes.
"Ondrum illai, Vizhi. Vaa naam aranmanai thirumbalaam, neram aagi vittadhu "
(Nothing, Vizhi. Come, let’s go back to the palace; it’s getting late)
He got down from the woods and started walking past her, but she grabbed his wrist, stopping him. He looked at her simply.
"Amma nyaabagam vandhu vittadhaa thangalukku?"
(Did you remembered your mother?)
She asked worriedly. On seeing her sad face, he smiled and shook his head, then opened his mouth to say it's nothing like that, but she cut off in the middle, asking,
"Amma endraal enna, Deva?"
(What is a mother, Deva?)
He stared at her, tongue tied.
"Devane"
She shook him. His lips curled up, and he grabbed her palms inside his, saying,
"Haan. Amma endraal. Paasam, gavanam, thooimai, anbu, aravanaipu, sinam, uthvegam, aasiriyai thuvam.. ena anaithu vagaigalilum namadhu vaazhkaiyil iruppaval"
(Mother means love, care, purity, affection, anger, enthusiasm, teaching. Simply, she is everything that is in our lives.)
Seervizhi blinked at him. He cupped her right cheek with his palm.
"Enna aanadhu?"
(What happened?)
She shook her head.
"Illai, paasam naan kaanbippen, gavanamaaga iruppen, thooimaiyaaga dhinamum nadappen, anbu koduppen, aravanaippu nalguven, thavaru seidhaal mattum sinam kolven, aanaal.."
(Nothing; I will show love, be careful, be pure every day, give affection, and get angry only if there is a mistake, but...)
His thumb caressed her cheek, waiting for her to finish the thing that developed in her small, yet very smart, brain.
"Aanaal?"
(But?)
"Uthvegam, matrum aasiriya thuvam mattum thaangal vaithu kollungalen? Matravatrai naan kaanbikkiren thangalukku."
(Please keep the enthusiasm and teaching quality with you. I will show you the rest)
His eyes softened, and his heart became less heavy.
"Yen?"
(Why?)
He asked like he's imploring to hear everything she says to make him feel better. Indeed, it's special—more than special—to get some pure love from someone for the first time after his mother's death.
"Thaangal dhaan thangal thaayai ninaithu vaadugureergaley? Enakku avvaaru thangalai kaana pidikka villai. Adhanaal adhanai pokka, naan thangalukku thayaaga irukka muyarchi seiyattumaa?"
(Aren't you thinking about your mother and suffering? I don’t like to see you like that. So, to erase that, shall I try to be your mother?)
By answering and comforting his longing heart, her words directly made his eyes brim with tears.
"Nijamaga vaa?"
(Really?)
She smiled, nodding her head, not even understanding that she's healing a completely broken heart into a new, furnished one.
"Aam ilavarasae, enakku therinndha varai, idhanai ellaam yerkanave naan enadhu Mahizhan, matrum thaangal parisaaga kodutha Sarayu vidam seidhu kondu dhaan irukkiren. Adhanaal idhu ondrum enakku periya kaariyam alla"
(Yes, prince, as far as I know, I have already been doing this with my pet rabbit and Sarayu. So, it’s not a big deal for me.)
She grinned at him sheepishly, shrugging her shoulders. He chuckled and hugged her tight enough to make her stumble back in shock. But her lips curved up slightly before she smiled wide, placing her palms on his biceps and closing her eyes, feeling blissful to be inside his arms.
While he gave her a firm hug and smiled, releasing his pent-up breath on her shoulder with a sense of relief that lifted his heart and shoulder.
As the eldest of the five younger siblings, he always longs for the same kind of unconditional love that he is giving to his siblings. Upon hearing her words, he had a surge of renewed energy and tried to soften the hardness in his heart the way she had softened his back with her little palm.
In the middle of the night,
"Aiyo neengal sellungal. Naan thangalin pinnaal olindhu kolgiren"
(Oh no, you go. I will hide behind you.)
She put herself behind him.
"Vizhi, idhu namadhu aranmanai."
(Vizhi, this is our palace)
He pulled her to his side.
"Irundhaalum, thaangal chithi, oruvar podhum. 'Nadu iruvil, indha udaigalai anindhu engu sendreergal thaangal?' appadi endru virappaaga nindrum ketpaar. Ennaala adhellaam ketka mudiyaadhu."
(Even then, if your aunt sees us, she will ask, 'In the middle of the night, where were you both had went, wearing these clothes?'. No, no, I can’t answer her.)
She explained it to him seriously. But, he chuckled at her, mimicking.
"Seri. Ippodhu enna seiyàlaam endru neeye kooru."
(Okay. Now you tell me what to do.)
He said.
"Mm porungal naan yosikiren."
(Mm, wait, I'll think)
Anushman crossed his arms across his chest and admired her, who was thinking of an idea to escape to their chamber without getting into anyone's eyes, tapping her finger on her chin.
"Haan"
She just shouted, and Anushman widened his eyes with a smile.
"Yaaradhu?"
(Who is that?)
Seervizhi hit her own forehead and looked at him, who was smiling at her. She sighed and grabbed his wrist before pulling him behind the pillar of their palace entrance.
"Vizh.."
"Shh pesaadheergal"
(Shh, don't talk.)
She shushed him, placing her finger on her lips. He nodded obediently.
She peaked out to see Yezhisai in the hall of the palace. She widened her eyes and looked back at him, who was already staring at her.
"Aththai"
(Aunt)
She mouthed. He just nodded his head at her, as he was doing his important job of admiring her closely.
Her wet hair stuck to her temple, and her bubbly neck had water droplets that literally begged for attention from his tongue. He quickly averted his gaze, taking a deep breath to control his burning need to devour his little innocent wife.
"Yaaradhu endru kaetten. Veliye vaarungal"
(I asked, Who is that?Come out)
Yezhisai yelled at the way they were hiding.
Seervizhi shut her eyes and placed her cheek on his chest. He smiled and held her waist. But both gasped,
"Kallargal"
(Thieves)
Yezhisai shouted.
"Yaarangae? yaarangae? Namadhu aranmanai'il kallargal vandhiruppadhu kooda theriyaamal anaivarum engu sendreergal?"
(Who is there? There are thieves in our palace; how come no one knows about it?)
She looked around for the guards in fear.
Seervizhi looked at Anushman.
"Ilavarasae"
(Prince)
Anushman sighed.
"Adharkul ilavarasan, aagi vittenaa naan unakku?"
(Now, have I become a prince to you?)
She squinted her eyes and whispered,
"Aam. Thaangal dhaan veliye sellumbodhu ilavarasar ena alaika vendaam ena koorineer. Tharpodhu dhaan naam aranmanai ull vandhu vittome? Ini ilavarasar dhaan."
(Yes. You told me not to call you Prince when we go out. But now we are inside the palace, right? Now you are the prince.)
He stared at her unbelievably before asking the genuine question,
"Idhil mattum evvaaru Vizhi nee ivvalavu budhisaali aaga irukkiraai?"
(In this alone, how are you so smart, Vizhi?)
Her brows raised, and her face scrunched, not understanding his query.
"Puriyavillai"
(I don't understand)
He breathed out.
"Ondrum illa, Devi. Un aththai nammai kallargal endru ninaithu vittaar pola. Vaa naam dhaan ena kooruvom"
(Nothing, Devi. Your aunt thinks we are thieves. Come, let's tell her the truth)
He took his step forward to move out but she stopped him, hissing in annoyance.
"Acho. Porungal konjam"
(Oh no, wait a minute)
"Yen'adi?"
(What's the matter now?)
He asked in the same annoyance.
"Naam yen ingu vandhu olindhu kondom endru adharkul marandhu vitteeraa?"
(Have you forgotten why we are hiding here?)
She asked, glaring a little, which made him get amused, but he answered sarcastically,
"Illaiye. Un aththai nammai Nadu iravil engu sendru varugireergal ena kelvi ketpaar adhanaal naam ingu olindhu kollalaam ena nee dhaan koorinaari. Adhanaal dhaan naam ingu olindhu ullom."
(No. I remember. Your aunt would ask, 'Where were you both in the middle of the night?' That's why you told me to hide here. That’s why we are here.)
He explained her own plan to herself. She bit her lower lips, nodding her head.
"Oppukolgiren. Thangalukku ninaivu ulladhu. Aanaal pin yen naam veliye sellalaam endru koorineer?"
(I agree. You remember. But why did you say we should go out?,)
She asked back. He smiled.
"Pin yethunai kaalam nee ingaye nirka pogiraai? Eppadiyenum avargal nammai kandu pidithu viduvaargal."
(How long will you stand here? They will eventually catch us.)
She shook her head.
"Appo naam eppadi thappipadhu endru yosiyungal."
(Then think of a way to escape.)
She said. He sighed.
"Yen Vizhi, naam thappikka vendum?"
(Why should we escape, Vizhi?)
She opened her mouth to say something but stopped hearing.
"Andha thoonirku pin kaanungal"
(Look behind that pillar)
The voice of Yezhisai.
Seervizhi widened her eyes and looked at him.
"Yedharku ivvalavu acham kolgiraai?"
(Why are you so scared?)
He asked.
"Aththai thittuvaar"
(Aunt will scold us)
She pouted.
"Adh.."
(That...)
"Munnaal arasi, thaangal thavaraaga yenni vitteergal."
(Former queen, you have misunderstood )
One of the guards said this to her with a shy smile on his face. Anushman and Seervizhi shared a look.
Yezhisai frowned at him.
"Enna koorigiraai?"
(What are you saying?)
"Aam Munnaal arasi, thaangal kandadhu kallargalai alla. Namadhu naatin mootha ilavarasar matrum Ilavarasi aavaargal."
(Yes, former queen. what you saw were not thieves. They are our country's elder prince and princess.)
Anushman caught her shoulder and pulled her out against her struggle.
When her gaze fell on them, Yezhisai roamed her eyes from their top to toe.
"Enna vasthirangal ivai, Anushman?"
(What kind of clothes are these, Anushman?)
She yelled at him angrily.
Others in the palace had woken up hearing her shouts and came out.
Anilamudhan tried to carry Adhivishman after finding him by his palms. Adhi lifted his hands, and he smiled, lifting him in his arms.
Sennila was in her mother's arms.
Anbazhagi and the other brothers stayed beside each other.
"Yen chithi? idharku enna? Nam naatu makkal aniyum vasthirangal dhaane?"
(Why, Aunt? What is it? These are the clothes our country people wear, right?)
Anushman asked her.
"Adhanai dhaan naanum ketkiren. Idhanai yen neengal iruvarum anindhulleergal?"
(That's what I am asking. Why are you two wearing these clothes?)
She asked again, raising her voice.
"Ivvasthirathinai aniya naangal yaaridam anumadhi peravendum, chithi?"
(Who should we get permission from to wear these clothes, Aunt?)
He asked disbelievably.
"Anush.."
"Yezhisai"
She stopped speaking when Oorvashi came out of her room.
"Vaarungal aththai. Thaangale kaanungal ungal peranin seyalai."
(Come, Aunt. Look at your grandson's actions)
Yezhisai complained to her. Oorvashi looked at the couple who were in the saree and veshti with them fully drenched in the rain.
"Enna Anushman, idhu?"
(What is this, Anushman?)
Oorvashi asked him.
"Paati"
(Grandma)
He just said that, not understanding what's she's exactly asking about.
"Illai Anushman, nee ippadi seidhirikka koodaadhu."
(No, Anushman, you shouldn't have done this.)
Anushman lowered his gaze.
Seervizhi tried to hide behind him, but he caught her shoulder in stiffness and made her stand still beside him.
Eezhamadhi, too, came out.
"Aiyo. Enna alangolam idhu? yaarenum unnai kandaal, eppadi indha naatai un poruppil kodukka mun varuvaargal, Anushman?"
(Oh my, what kind of mess is this? If anyone sees you like this, how can they trust you with this country, Anushman?)
She exclaimed, seeing his messy hair and shirt.
"Nam paiyan avvaaru nadandhu kolla maataan, Eezhamadhi. Ip'pen dhaan ivvaaru seidhiruppaal. Andai naatu valakkame idhu dhaane? adhaan avalum ivvaaru kuzhandhai pola nadandhu kolgiraal"
(Our son wouldn’t behave this way, Eezhamadhi. This girl must have just done this. Isn’t this the tradition of her country? That’s why she is also behaving like that and like a child)
Anushman fisted his free hand, seeing her look towards his wife, which was completely filled with disgust.
Seervizhi lowered her head.
"Anushman"
He looked at his grandma.
"Nee seidhadhu migaperiya thavaraagum."
(What you did was a big mistake.)
He looked at her, sighing in disappointment.
"Paati thaangalum en.."
(Grandmother, you too..)
"Mudhuvenil kaalathin idai paruvathil varum mazhaiyil nanaivadhaal pengal migavum sorvadaivaargal endru theriyaadhaa umakku?"
(In the middle of the summer, don't you know that women suffer more when they get drenched in the rain?)
Yezhisai and Eezhamadhi turned their gaze swiftly towards her. But she ignored them.
"Paati"
(Grandma)
Anushman stared at her.
"Naatin pudhiya Ilavarasi, udal sorvu kondaal namakku dhaan adhu periya paavam, Anushman."
(She is the new princess of our country; if she gets sick, it is our big fault, Anushman)
She said it seriously.
His lips curved a little before widening.
"Sel. Sendru oivedungal iruvarum. Yaarangae"
(Go. Both of you, go and rest. Guards!)
The guard rushed and bowed down a little below her height.
"Thaaliga neer thayaar aakungal"
(Prepare the herbal water for them.)
She ordered.
"Rajamatha"
(Queen Mother)
Kayarkodi came forward.
"Naan seigiren"
(I will do it.)
Oorvashi smiled at her and went into her room silently.
The brothers, too, left for their respective rooms.
Sennila and Kayarkodi moved towards the kitchen along with Anbazhagi.
Anushman looked at his aunts, who were staring at them with a look of angriness.
But he ignored them, held Seervizhi's hand, pulled her towards him before wrapping his arms below her waist and knee, lifting her up from the floor, and moved past them towards their chamber amidst his wife's squeals and whinings.
"Enna akka, anaithu vidhathilum thappithu kondey irukkiraargal ivargal?"
(Sister, they are breaking all the rules, aren't they?)
Eezhamadhi asked Yezhisai, who was still staring at the way the couple had gone.
"Yethunai kaalam endru naanum kaangiren."
(I too am waiting to see for how long this will continue)
She said it in a hoarse voice and stormed inside her room.
Eezhamadhi shook her head and went to her room.
