Chapter 2.

Yuuji fiddled with the small box in he had in his pocket, the mahogany wooden box was sealed shut and he didn't even look inside of it. The incoherent conversation happening behind him in the confession booths made him hum lowly to himself to keep himself busy. He sat in one of the far seats, his back turned to the two.

Of course, he wasn't really all that religious, praying to get money and to find a tall girl with a big ass in his free time or whenever he was lonely or bored.

That was until Father Fujimoto, or as Yuuji likes to call him, 'Daddy Fujimoto'.

"WHAT?!! Really? Show me the way--right now!" Shiro tried to play it off as he noticed the wide-eyed stares of Yuuji and Rin, tackling the black-haired boy into a tight headlock and grinding his knuckles into his head.

"Wrong answer!!!"

The brunette smiled at the two, crossing his arms over his slightly plump chest, he had been working out a bunch recently(for about five months) and had gained more muscle definition thanks to this super intense work-out routine. Moving on, Yuuji couldn't help but feel jealous over Rin's close relationship with his adoptive father.

About only a night ago, his grandfather died while he was still snarky and giving him old comments with that shitty tough exterior.

But his last words stuck with him.

"Save those around you, Yuuji, you're a good and tough kid. So fight for those you care about," and then he was gone just like that.

The thought of his grandpa reentering his mind made him frown but it quickly disappeared as fast as it had appeared and he turned his attention to Yukio, Rin's younger teen brother, who had entered the Monastery. Yuuji smiled at the teen and waved softly, not letting go of the object in his pocket.

He turned to Rin, "Hey, I'm gonna head out! I gotta check if someone broke into my house or not," the blunt comment and cheerful expression that Yuuji wore always made those question if he was lying or just extremely clueless to house scary that sounds.

Rin hummed hesitantly, his voice muffled by Shiro's arm.

The head Priest let go of the sixteen-year-old and made his way over to the teen only to pause. His eyes widening only a fraction rounder when he felt it. The ominous aura that surrounded the boy. Shiro didn't know the teenager personally, but he was a joy to be around despite only knowing him for a couple of months now due to Rin inviting him over all the time for dinner.

Yuuji tilted his head slightly in confusion before smiling again and patting the priest on the shoulder, politely brushing past him, "'Cuse me," he mumbled.

Shiro stood completely frozen in his place, sweat trickling down the back of his neck when the aura began to overwhelm him.

"Yukio! You're getting ready to move out, right?" Yuuji's normal bright and loud voice snapped the elder out of his thoughts, the presence of the aura dissipating as Yuuji got further and further away from him.

What the hell...was that?

"It's kinda unbelievable that Yukio is the youngest, right?" One of the brothers of the Monastery commented, chuckling at the brazen reaction he got from the older twin.

"Yukio, the younger brother, is a top student and excels at all sports. This spring, he will be entering True Cross Academy as a freshman." another voices. Yuuji whistled lowly, missing the way Yukio flinched when he came closer.

"You're basically telling Rin that he's useless," Yuuji starts, wrapping his arm around Rin once he had crouched down on the ground. His eyes were dull and his grin was everlasting. "That's not very nice, now is it?" Everyone's blood went cold at the overwhelming feeling of fear, and suddenly Rin lashed out, shoving Yuuji away from him out of instinct. Right as he did, the loud pop and bright flash of blue fire erupted from the Heater in the middle of the room.

"Ehhhhh? Sorry, I went too far, right?" Yuuji's nervous laughter and the immediate change in attitude made Rin sigh out in relief. Shiro grumbled and fumbled with the heater.

"This piece of junk, It was about time we got this thing replaced--"

"Father Fujimoto, someone is here to see you," Nagatomo whispered lowly, Shiro hummed and stood to his feet, turning to the other staff with a gentle warm smile.

"Clean up this mess before the service starts," he waved dimissively, the brothers nodded in unison before getting back to work,

"Yukio, I want you to tend to Rin's wounds," Shiro left not soon after the twins retreated to the get the elder brother's injuries fixed up. Yuuji sighed slightly and stood to his feet, closing his eyes and stretching his arms up and above his head.

I'm jealous of you Rin.

The light-haired brunette stuffed his scraped hands into his pockets with a slight wince, "They'll heal eventually..." he mumbled to himself, his everlasting smile began to slowly vanish. As did the smoldering aura of the demon hanging over him.

"They...it'll disappear..like always." and with that, he left the monastery.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

"Rin?" Yuuji's voice snapped the black-haired teen's mind back into focus as he adjusted the boxes in his arms. Izumi and Maruta had signed him up for another part-time job at a Fresh Shopping Mall store only a couple of blocks down from the Monastery. Thankfully, the boss told him that she would be monitoring his progress throughout the interview.

Now, he was told to finish up moving the towers of boxes.

"You're working here too?" Rin questioned, smiling a little wider, the slightly taller teen hummed and patted the boy on the back as he grabbed one of the large towers boxes and began to easily make his way to where Rin had been stacking them.

"I'll help you out, I've been working here for a couple of hours now. Since the last boss I had called me a Gorilla." Yuuji made the face he made only hours before, laughing when Rin made it back.

This continued one for a couple more times before they had grabbed the last two boxes.

Not seeing the boss near them, Yuuji held the box over his head and began to dance around, making some of the kids who were watching him laugh at his expressions. Rin noticed their new boss and gasped, "We got the last boxes right here! Wo--woahhhH!" Yuuji accidently tripped him while dancing and the box that Rin was holding flew out of his hands and right on top of the woman's head.

Yuuji stopped dancing, grabbing ahold of Rin's arms as he tried to hide himself behind the black-haired teenager.

----

After many more failed attempts and a large scolding from the older and shorter woman, Yuuji and Rin were waiting around by the sample section, and nothing was selling. "I guess we're just not cut out for working," Rin's bleak statement and Yuuji's emotionless hum made one of the staff members sigh.

"What's the matter newbie? The Boss is always like that, so, cheer up won't you?" her gentle voice made Rin glance over. Yuuji didn't make any signs of movement.

"Here, try this," she offered one of the samples that she was making, the small plastic container dropping into Rin's outstretched hand. And it only took one bite as he retaliated and covered his mouth.

"What is this?! IT's horrible!"

Dejected, the woman sadly looked down at the noodles she was cooking on the plugged in iron stove-top. "You too? The boss ordered a huge shipment of these noodles but they..they're just not selling at all..." her eyebrows creased in a somber action as she stirred what was left of the noodles on the stove.

"Hey auntie, how about we give it a try?" Yuuji's voice startled both of them as they turned to look at him. Their eyes wide, Rin got that feeling again, the one from the monastery, but he decided to ignore it as the woman smiled up at them and nodded.

The sizzling sound and pleasant aroma of the yakisoba noodles gave the shopping mart a warm feeling, the smell was divine and attracted more people to the small stand.

"HEY! We got a new line of fried noodles here, how about it folks!" Yuuji's friendly voice drew in more customers, most of them being young and beautiful single mothers and some tired and desperate mothers who are wanting the new sale of cheap noodles. The different comments on the food made Rin's pride swell.

He was happy.

Yuuji smiled and leaned on his shoulder.

"We did it Rin," Yuuji whispered. Rin nodded but froze when their Boss approached the stand. Grabbing ahold of one of the small plastic cups filled with the delicious food, with a painstakingly slow raise of her fork, she took a large bite of most of the noodles.

Rin and Yuuji waited anxiously as they watched her clear her throat.

"Staff meetings start at 8:30 every morning, no tardiness," she starts, making her way back from where she came, "Starting tomorrow I want you here with guns blazing." A moment of silence rang out through the air after she had left.

"...does..does that mean what I think it means?" the light-haired brunette starts with a shaky voice. The woman who had been helping them, slapped the black-haired teen on the back, smiling widely.

"Sure does! That means that you're hired newbies!"

Yuuji's and Rin's faces contorted into pure joy hugging one another as they got back to work.

But it would be over as quickly as it had started.
