Chapter 1: Seeing Her Again
Chapter 1: Seeing Her Again
King Dice's POV
I sigh as I realize it's time to go through another nightmare about the night that little boy killed my parents. I look at my phone, debating whether or not to make sure Moira was alright, when I hear a knock at my door. I was confused but open the door anyway to see---
"Moira! How did you---?!"
"I asked The Devil and he pointed me in the right direction. Can I come in?" I nod as I step aside.
"Make yourself at home!" I mentally facepalm. Why did I say that?! Moira smiles at me as she walks inside. I close the door behind her and turn to her.
"I needed a place to stay after a gas leak happened and I burned my house down so I thought---"
"You can stay here until your house gets fixed, if you like, Moira." I smile a little and her smile widens.
"Thanks, Dice. I knew I could count on you." I felt my cheeks warm up a little as I give her a tour of my house.
The living room was quaint, big enough for maybe four or five people to sit in. The 35" Flat Screen TV sat on the wall like a fly caught in a web. The couch was big enough for someone to sleep on or three people to sit on. The hardwood flooring was slightly cracked and definitely needed refurbishing. The entertainment system was recently dusted and looked nicer than it ever had before, especially with the fresh white paint from when I painted it yesterday. The walls were painted white with purple petals.
The kitchen came up next. The fridge was white and freshly packed with foods I wasn't sure if Moira was gonna like. The walls were painted purple with daisies and the tile flooring was recently scrubbed clean. The counters were a white marble and the stove was black. The sink was free of dishes and the wooden cabinets were as nice as can be.
The bathroom was... Well, it was a bathroom. It had everything you needed in it, even a shower.
Right before I could show her the room she would be staying in, she got a phone call.
"Hello?" She had put it on speaker.
"Miss, I'm afraid your house is beyond repair. Everything in that room you told us about, the fireproof room that housed your clothes, your phone charger, your photographs, picture frames, and bureau, all of that stuff is all you have left." I look at Moira in shock. A few tears spring to her eyes.
"O- Okay. I- I'll be r- right there t- to get m- my stuff." Moira hangs up and looks at me in tears. I sigh and walk with her to her car. "C- Can you c- come with m- me?" I nod, causing a small smile to appear on her face. "T- Thank you, D- Dice."
"You're welcome, Moira." I get in the passenger seat and she gets in the driver's seat. I wipe away her tears, causing a small smile to form again, before we drive over to her house.
I had not expected the sight of how charred the house is.
Moira showed me a photo of the house before it burnt down. It had once been a brilliant white color with a beautiful glass door. Now it was all gone. The doors, the windows, all of it, except for one room. Moira sighs before going into the room with me right behind her. The walls and floor looked exactly like the wall and floor from my living room and the varnished wooden bureau was right by the door. Her charger was sitting on top of it with photos of herself and her family from when she was younger adorned the walls. I get to work on handing her the photos and her charger, which she immediately takes out to the car. Her bureau was gonna take a lot more room then her car could offer so I immediately called a moving van to help. We get everything back to my house and I lead them to the room it was all going in. I look at the bed with the amber colored bed sheets that had purple petals on it and Moira looks overjoyed.
"This is perfect!" She hugs me tightly, shocking me for a minute before I hug back with a slight laugh. "Thank you!"
"You're welcome!" We each head into our own beds and went to sleep. For once I had no nightmares of the night my life had shattered before my eyes.
